00:03:50Okay.
00:04:28Three.
00:08:02Good morning.
00:08:03Good morning.
00:08:24Good morning.
00:08:26Our presider for this liturgy is our pastor, Father Peter Samborski.
00:08:32Together, then, let us stand and sing, take up our cross, lyrics seen on the screens.
00:09:43We'll take up our cross and follow Him.
00:10:00He embraced His sacrifice and walked the path we cannot see.
00:10:12The birds of His world may rise, but what a glory are we be.
00:10:23We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:10:29We lay down our lives that we might live.
00:10:35We carry the hope of Christ within.
00:10:41We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:10:47Lift Him high, lift Him high.
00:10:54Let His name be glorified.
00:11:00Lift Him high, lift Him high.
00:11:06Let His name be glorified.
00:11:16We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:11:22We lay down our lives that we might live.
00:11:27We carry the hope of Christ within.
00:11:34We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:11:41We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:11:46We lay down our lives that we might live.
00:11:53We carry the hope of Christ within.
00:11:59We take up our cross and follow Him.
00:12:10In the name of the Father, of the Son, of the Holy Spirit.
00:12:13Amen.
00:12:13The Lord be with you.
00:12:15And with your spirit.
00:12:16Good morning, everyone.
00:12:17Good morning, Father.
00:12:18So, we gather this morning for second Sunday of Lent.
00:12:22Also, it's the first Sunday of the month.
00:12:24So, we have our family formation program with us.
00:12:27And to celebrate wordfully this Eucharist, let us call to mind our sins.
00:12:33Mindful of God's mercy, let us pray the Confidior.
00:12:36Pray on this inside of the front cover of the blue hymnal.
00:12:41I confess, almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters,
00:12:47that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts, in my words,
00:12:51and what I have done, and what I have failed to do,
00:12:55through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.
00:13:00Therefore, I ask, Blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the angels and saints,
00:13:06and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
00:13:11May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins,
00:13:13and bring us to everlasting life.
00:13:15Amen.
00:13:46Let us pray.
00:14:02O God, you have commended us to listen to your beloved Son.
00:14:06Be pleased, we pray, to nourish us inwardly by your word,
00:14:10that with spiritual sight made pure, we may rejoice to behold your glory.
00:14:15For our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
00:14:18in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
00:14:22Amen.
00:14:37A reading from the book of Genesis.
00:14:40The Lord said to Abram, Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk,
00:14:46and from your father's house to a land that I will show you.
00:14:51I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you.
00:14:57I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
00:15:02I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you.
00:15:08All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.
00:15:14Abram went as the Lord directed him.
00:15:16Amen.
00:15:17The word of the Lord.
00:15:19Thanks be to God.
00:15:45Thanks be to God.
00:15:58Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:16:04Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:16:10Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:16:16Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:16:25You who rest in the shadow of the Lord and abide in the presence of God.
00:16:36Say with your heart, say with your heart, my shelter and strength.
00:16:42My God in you I trust.
00:16:50Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:16:57Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:17:02Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:17:09Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:17:17Evil will not fall upon you.
00:17:21No affliction will find your door.
00:17:26Lord, for the angels have been sent to protect you and guard you in all your ways.
00:17:41No affliction will find your
00:17:42Be with me.
00:17:44Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:17:48Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:17:54Be with me.
00:17:56Be with me, Lord, when I am en route.
00:17:59Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:18:09If you stumble, I will catch you.
00:18:15No, I am here.
00:18:20Think to me with your life.
00:18:25There is nothing you should fear.
00:18:34Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:18:40Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:18:46Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:18:51Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:18:58Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
00:19:04Be with me, Lord, be with me.
00:19:09Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble
00:19:16Be with me, Lord, be with me
00:19:51A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to Timothy
00:19:57Beloved, bear your share of hardship for the gospel
00:20:00with the strength that comes from God
00:20:05He saved us and called us to a holy life
00:20:08not according to our works
00:20:11but according to his own design
00:20:13and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began
00:20:19but now made manifest
00:20:22through the appearance of our Savior Christ Jesus
00:20:26who destroyed death and brought life and immortality
00:20:32to light through the gospel
00:20:34The word of the Lord
00:20:38Thanks be to God
00:20:57Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:04King of endless glory
00:21:09Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:17King of endless glory
00:21:23Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:24From the shining cloud, the Father's voice is heard
00:21:29This is my beloved Son, listen to Him
00:21:34Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:42Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:43King of endless glory
00:21:48Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:21:54King of endless glory
00:22:03The Lord be with you
00:22:05And with your spirit
00:22:06Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
00:22:09Glory to you, O Lord
00:22:12Jesus took Peter, James, and John, his brother
00:22:16and led them up a high mountain by themselves
00:22:20And he was transfigured before them
00:22:22His face shone like the sun
00:22:24And his clothes became white as light
00:22:28And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them
00:22:32Conversing with him
00:22:35Then Peter said to Jesus in reply
00:22:37Lord, it is good that we are here
00:22:40If you wish, I'll make three tents here
00:22:43One for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah
00:22:46While he was still speaking
00:22:49Behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them
00:22:52Then from the cloud came a voice that said
00:22:55This is my beloved Son
00:22:57With whom I am well pleased
00:22:59Listen to him
00:23:02When the disciples heard this
00:23:03They fell prostrate
00:23:05And were very much afraid
00:23:08But Jesus came and touched them
00:23:09Saying, Rise
00:23:11And do not be afraid
00:23:13And when the disciples raised their eyes
00:23:16There saw no one else but Jesus alone
00:23:19As they were coming down from the mountain
00:23:22Jesus charged them
00:23:24Do not tell division to anyone
00:23:26Until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead
00:23:31The Gospel of the Lord
00:23:33Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
00:23:45So my dear friends
00:23:46Today we have Gospel of Transfiguration
00:23:49So we talk about how Jesus
00:23:53Transfigured, transformed himself
00:23:55Already?
00:23:57I just started
00:24:01And I was just thinking
00:24:03How was Jesus on a regular basis?
00:24:06Meaning we thought that
00:24:08When disciples and other people were with him
00:24:12He had some kind of aura
00:24:14Maybe shining
00:24:15That, you know
00:24:16He gathered a lot of people around him
00:24:19But I don't think that was a meaning
00:24:21Somebody who is
00:24:23Has a charisma
00:24:24Has charismatic
00:24:25That's what tends
00:24:28Bring attention to other people
00:24:29But on a daily basis
00:24:31He was just like us
00:24:32He had human nature
00:24:34But also we know that he had
00:24:36Divine nature
00:24:37And that's how this divine nature
00:24:41Was revealed
00:24:42A little bit
00:24:44Just a touch
00:24:45Just a veil
00:24:47Behind the curtain
00:24:49How his nature
00:24:52Divinity looks like
00:24:53In the Old Testament
00:24:54If we read
00:24:55The books
00:24:56Of Old Testament
00:24:57We read that
00:24:59Those who saw
00:25:00The face of God
00:25:01They died
00:25:02Because not
00:25:04Of punishment
00:25:05But they were
00:25:06Fulfilled with joy
00:25:08With pleasure
00:25:09With
00:25:09This so much energy
00:25:11That they said
00:25:13I'm fulfilled
00:25:14I saw God
00:25:15I can be with him forever
00:25:16So that's
00:25:18How
00:25:18Jesus wants to us
00:25:20To understand it
00:25:22How the divinity looks like
00:25:23And then
00:25:24My other question
00:25:26Why always those
00:25:28Three guys
00:25:30Peter
00:25:30James
00:25:32And John
00:25:34Because
00:25:34I think
00:25:35Of their personalities
00:25:38We know Peter
00:25:39And Peter
00:25:40Is the one
00:25:40I don't know
00:25:41If that's the word
00:25:42Bearish
00:25:43That he's
00:25:44You know
00:25:44Always
00:25:45Wants to do
00:25:46Stuff
00:25:46And he's coming
00:25:47From one extreme
00:25:48To another extreme
00:25:49One time he said
00:25:50Yes you are the Messiah
00:25:51Then he wants
00:25:53To say
00:25:53No you're not
00:25:54Going to fulfill this
00:25:55Because nothing
00:25:56Going to
00:25:57Bad happen to you
00:25:58Then he sees Jesus
00:26:00Walking on the sea
00:26:01Of Galilee
00:26:03And he said
00:26:04Okay I'm walking
00:26:04With him
00:26:05He's just
00:26:06Full of zealous
00:26:08And excitement
00:26:08Some good
00:26:10Some bad
00:26:12Showing that
00:26:13He was really
00:26:14Devoted
00:26:15What he wanted
00:26:16To do
00:26:16But sometimes
00:26:18He gets confused
00:26:20And the same
00:26:21With John
00:26:22And James
00:26:24What nickname
00:26:25Jesus gave them
00:26:26Sons of thunder
00:26:28Meaning that
00:26:30If you remember
00:26:31The moment
00:26:32When they wanted
00:26:35To
00:26:36Put on fire
00:26:38The city
00:26:39Because
00:26:40They didn't want
00:26:41To accept
00:26:42Jesus' teaching
00:26:42They were so
00:26:43Okay you're not
00:26:45Accepting Jesus
00:26:46That's going to
00:26:46Kill them
00:26:47That
00:26:47They were so
00:26:50Excited
00:26:50About it
00:26:52John
00:26:53Also said
00:26:54There are some
00:26:55Disciples
00:26:56Who are teaching
00:26:57In your name
00:26:58But they are not
00:26:58Walking with us
00:26:59And he was
00:27:00Jealous about it
00:27:00No let's just
00:27:01Get rid of them
00:27:02Kill them
00:27:04And Jesus said
00:27:05Hey hey hey
00:27:05Lose your horses
00:27:06Buddy
00:27:07We are about
00:27:08To share love
00:27:10And if they
00:27:11Saying
00:27:11They teach
00:27:12In my name
00:27:13Let them do it
00:27:15So they were
00:27:16Full of
00:27:17This jealous
00:27:18And excitement
00:27:19And that's why
00:27:21They saw
00:27:23Jesus
00:27:23Jesus
00:27:23Transfigure
00:27:24A little
00:27:24Bit
00:27:25Because it
00:27:26Wasn't
00:27:26100%
00:27:27Probably
00:27:28It was
00:27:28Like
00:27:2810%
00:27:30Showing of
00:27:31His divinity
00:27:32Then Peter
00:27:33What again
00:27:33He said
00:27:34Okay let's
00:27:35Do it
00:27:35Let's just
00:27:35Put tents
00:27:36For Moses
00:27:37Elijah
00:27:37For Jesus
00:27:38Let's set up
00:27:39A town
00:27:39Let's just
00:27:40Leave it here
00:27:40Forever
00:27:41Because
00:27:41That was
00:27:42They were
00:27:43Overwhelmed
00:27:44With God's
00:27:45Love and
00:27:45Power
00:27:47And
00:27:48I think
00:27:49For us
00:27:50Is the
00:27:51Message
00:27:52That we
00:27:53Have to
00:27:54Be like
00:27:54Them
00:27:54Because there
00:27:56Is a
00:27:56Problem
00:27:56In my
00:27:58Priesthood
00:27:58Life
00:27:59And other
00:27:59Priests
00:28:00And bishops
00:28:00And lay
00:28:01People
00:28:03That there
00:28:03Will be
00:28:04Moment of
00:28:04Stagnation
00:28:05That it's
00:28:06Just another
00:28:07Lent
00:28:07Another Easter
00:28:08Another Christmas
00:28:09And there
00:28:10Is no much
00:28:11So much
00:28:11Excitement
00:28:13And Jesus
00:28:14Simply telling
00:28:15Us
00:28:16If you
00:28:18Understand
00:28:19If you're
00:28:20Going to
00:28:21See my
00:28:21Divinity
00:28:21You're
00:28:22Going to
00:28:23Try to
00:28:23Hunt this
00:28:24Try to
00:28:25Catch
00:28:26This divinity
00:28:28Just be
00:28:29With me
00:28:29And even
00:28:30In the
00:28:30First reading
00:28:31When God
00:28:32Is saying
00:28:33To Abraham
00:28:33Get out
00:28:34Of your
00:28:34Tent
00:28:35Just get
00:28:36Out
00:28:36Imagine
00:28:37A thousand
00:28:38Years ago
00:28:39Living in
00:28:40A tent
00:28:42That were
00:28:42Created
00:28:43By
00:28:44Animal
00:28:44Skins
00:28:45That wasn't
00:28:46Pleasant
00:28:47Inside
00:28:48But they
00:28:48Wanted
00:28:49To keep
00:28:49It warm
00:28:50And sometimes
00:28:51You're just
00:28:51Sitting
00:28:52And you
00:28:53Don't want
00:28:53To do
00:28:54Anything
00:28:54And you
00:28:54Just
00:28:55Have this
00:28:55Stagnation
00:28:56And I
00:28:56Know
00:28:58There are
00:28:58Some
00:28:59Mental
00:29:00Problems
00:29:00That people
00:29:01Struggle
00:29:02And that's
00:29:03Also a sign
00:29:04There is
00:29:06Nothing to be
00:29:06Afraid
00:29:06Of shame
00:29:07To ask
00:29:08For help
00:29:08To go
00:29:09To therapy
00:29:09And when
00:29:11I hear
00:29:11In confessional
00:29:12People
00:29:13Saying that
00:29:14You struggle
00:29:14With depression
00:29:15And they
00:29:17Don't know
00:29:17What to do
00:29:17And of
00:29:19Course
00:29:19Prayer is
00:29:20One
00:29:22Of the
00:29:22Helps
00:29:23Of the
00:29:24Aids
00:29:25But also
00:29:26I say
00:29:26Do not
00:29:27Be afraid
00:29:27To call
00:29:28Somebody
00:29:28Do not
00:29:29Be afraid
00:29:29To reach
00:29:31Out to
00:29:31The therapy
00:29:32To the
00:29:32Professional
00:29:33Because we
00:29:34Need to
00:29:35Take care
00:29:36Of ourselves
00:29:37Not only
00:29:37Spiritually
00:29:38Because we
00:29:38Have a lot
00:29:39Of natures
00:29:40Spiritual
00:29:40Nature
00:29:41Physical
00:29:42Nature
00:29:42Mind
00:29:45Our
00:29:46Soul
00:29:47So we
00:29:48Priests
00:29:49Bishops
00:29:49We're taking
00:29:50Care of
00:29:50Soul
00:29:51About
00:29:52Mental
00:29:54Some
00:29:55Priests
00:29:55They need
00:29:55Some
00:29:55Mental
00:29:56I know
00:29:57From
00:29:57Myself
00:29:59Because
00:29:59We are
00:30:00Just human
00:30:00Beings
00:30:01We are
00:30:01Fragile
00:30:01And like
00:30:03I said
00:30:03Again
00:30:03To understand
00:30:04Divine
00:30:05Nature
00:30:05It's
00:30:06Overwhelming
00:30:07Us
00:30:07Like
00:30:08Overwhelm
00:30:09Peter
00:30:09Overwhelm
00:30:10John
00:30:11Overwhelm
00:30:12James
00:30:12Those who
00:30:13Are
00:30:13Actually
00:30:14Really
00:30:14Excited
00:30:15About
00:30:16And to
00:30:17Understand
00:30:18That Jesus
00:30:19Wants
00:30:19From us
00:30:19This
00:30:20We have
00:30:21To first
00:30:22Prepare
00:30:22Ourselves
00:30:23Because
00:30:23That could
00:30:24Simply
00:30:25Kill us
00:30:26So my
00:30:28Dear friends
00:30:28Let us
00:30:29Refresh
00:30:30Ourselves
00:30:31Let us
00:30:32Have this
00:30:32Joy
00:30:33And
00:30:33Understanding
00:30:34To reaching
00:30:35Out
00:30:35To Jesus
00:30:36To walking
00:30:37With him
00:30:38And to
00:30:39Understand
00:30:39To join
00:30:40That he
00:30:41Wants us
00:30:42To join
00:30:43His divine
00:30:44Nature
00:30:45And
00:30:46Simply
00:30:47In the
00:30:48State of
00:30:49Heaven
00:30:49Because heaven
00:30:50Is not a
00:30:50Place
00:30:51It's a
00:30:52State
00:30:52When we
00:30:53Are finally
00:30:54United
00:30:55Together
00:30:56With God
00:30:56And he's
00:30:57Giving us
00:30:58His divine
00:30:59Nature as
00:30:59Well
00:31:00Amen
00:31:29Now please
00:31:30Stand
00:31:30Let us
00:31:30Profess our
00:31:31Faith
00:31:31We're
00:31:32Going to
00:31:32Recite
00:31:33Apostles
00:31:33Creed
00:31:36I believe
00:31:37In God
00:31:38The Father
00:31:39Almighty
00:31:40Creator of heaven
00:31:41And earth
00:31:42And in Jesus
00:31:43Christ
00:31:44His only Son
00:31:45Our Lord
00:31:45Who was conceived
00:31:47By the Holy Spirit
00:31:48Born of the Virgin
00:31:49Mary
00:31:50Suffered under
00:31:51Conscious Pilate
00:31:52Was crucified
00:31:54Died
00:31:54And was buried
00:31:55He descended
00:31:56Into hell
00:31:57On the third
00:31:58On the third
00:31:58He rose again
00:31:59In the dead
00:32:00He ascended
00:32:01Into heaven
00:32:02And is seated
00:32:03At the right
00:32:04Hand
00:32:04Of God
00:32:05The Father
00:32:05Almighty
00:32:06From there
00:32:07He will come
00:32:08To judge
00:32:08The living
00:32:09And the dead
00:32:09And with
00:32:11The Holy Spirit
00:32:12Of the Holy
00:32:13Catholic Church
00:32:14The communion
00:32:15Of saints
00:32:16The forgiveness
00:32:17Of sins
00:32:17The resurrection
00:32:19Of the body
00:32:20And life
00:32:21Everlasting
00:32:21Amen
00:32:24Precious God
00:32:24You know what
00:32:26We need

00:34:42Forever and ever
00:34:43Amen
00:34:57Please join in
00:34:58Our offertory song
00:34:59Forty Days
00:35:01And lyrics on the screen
00:35:3840 days to wander, 40 days to die to sell, 40 days to grow stronger as faith breaks hope in
00:35:52the gates of hell.
00:35:53The jubilee is over, but grace is far from gone, in the hearts of the faithful, broken on the wheels
00:36:08of love.
00:36:09Cause in the desert of temptation lies the storm of true conversion, where springs of living water drown and refresh
00:36:23you.
00:36:25And there's a joy that pours out change, yours yourself is all that remains, where springs of living water bind
00:36:38and break you.
00:36:42Bind and break you.
00:36:5140 days to remember the paschal sacrifice, 40 days to discover his passion calls us to new life.
00:37:07In the arms of the soil, mercy's far from gone, in the arms of the Father as the wayward child
00:37:21comes home.
00:37:22Cause in the desert of temptation lies the storm of true conversion, where springs of living water drown and refresh
00:37:36you.
00:37:39And as the joy that pours out change, your true self is all that remains, where springs of living water
00:37:51bind and break you.
00:37:56Bind and break you.
00:38:00Bind and break you.
00:38:04Bind and break you.
00:38:09Bind and break you.
00:38:10Bind and break you.
00:38:10Bind and break you.
00:38:11Bind and break you.
00:38:13Bind and break you.
00:38:15Bind and break you.
00:38:16Bind and break you.
00:38:16Bind and break you.
00:38:16Bind and break you.
00:38:17Bind and break you.
00:38:22Bind and break you.
00:38:39In the desert of temptation
00:38:43Lives the storm of true conversion
00:38:47Where springs of living water
00:38:51Will drown and refresh you
00:38:55And as the joy that pours out change
00:38:59Your true self is all that you make
00:39:03Where springs of living water
00:39:07Find the brave
00:39:11Find the brave news
00:39:35Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours
00:39:38May be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father
00:39:49May this sacrifice, O Lord, we pray
00:39:51Cleanse us of our faults
00:39:53And sanctify your faithful in body and mind
00:39:55For the celebration of the Paschal festivities
00:39:58Through Christ, our Lord
00:40:03The Lord be with you
00:40:04Lift up your hearts
00:40:08Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God
00:40:10It is truly right and just
00:40:13Our duty and our salvation
00:40:14Always and everywhere to give you thanks
00:40:17Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Eternal God
00:40:19Through Christ, our Lord
00:40:21For after he had told the disciples
00:40:23Of his coming death
00:40:24On the holy mountain
00:40:26He manifested to them his glory
00:40:28To show, even by the testimony of the law
00:40:31And the prophets
00:40:32That the passion leads to the glory
00:40:34Of the resurrection
00:40:35And so with the powers of heaven
00:40:37We worship you constantly on earth
00:40:39And before your majesty without end
00:40:41We acclaim
00:40:47o
00:40:48c
00:40:48o
00:40:49o
00:41:49Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for
00:41:55you.
00:42:05In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
00:42:09he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is
00:42:15the chalice of my blood, the blood of an eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you
00:42:21and for many, for the forgiveness of sin.
00:42:24Do this in memory of me.
00:42:35The mystery of faith.
00:42:45Take this, all of you.
00:43:09Therefore, as we celebrate the memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord,
00:43:14the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks to God held us worthy.
00:43:18We will be of presence and ministered to you.
00:43:20Humbly pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one
00:43:24by the Holy Spirit.
00:43:26Remember, Lord, your church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of
00:43:30charity, together with Leo XIV, our Pope, and Blazer, our Bishop, and all the clergy.
00:43:37Remember also, brothers and sisters, who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
00:43:41and all who have died in your mercy.
00:43:43Welcome them into the light of your face.
00:43:46Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with
00:43:50the blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles, and all the saints who have pleased
00:43:54you through the ages, we are married to be coerced into no life, and praise and glorify
00:43:59you, your Son, Jesus Christ.
00:44:04Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
00:44:13all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.
00:44:23Amen.
00:44:30Amen.
00:44:32Amen.
00:44:35Amen.
00:44:36And now, like always, let me invite all the kids to the altar.
00:44:39So we're going to say together the Lord's Prayer.
00:45:01Let us pray as Jesus taught us.
00:45:12Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
00:45:20on earth as it is in heaven.
00:45:22Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
00:45:30against us.
00:45:31And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
00:45:36Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil.
00:45:38Graciously grant peace in our days.
00:45:39By the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
00:45:43as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
00:45:49For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.
00:45:55Lord Jesus Christ, who said to the apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give it to all
00:46:00of you.
00:46:00Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and
00:46:05unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.
00:46:08Amen.
00:46:09The peace of the Lord be for you always.
00:46:11And with your spirit.
00:46:13So for each other, the sign of peace.
00:46:14Peace be with you all.
00:46:16Peace be with you all.
00:46:21Peace be with you all.
00:46:30Peace be with you all.
00:46:33Peace be with you all.
00:46:34Peace be with you all.
00:46:34Peace be with you all.
00:46:34Peace be with you all.
00:46:34Peace be with you all.
00:46:35Peace be with you all.
00:46:35Peace be with you all.
00:46:36Peace be with you all.
00:46:36Peace be with you all.
00:46:37Peace be with you all.
00:46:40Peace be with you all.
00:48:16Lord, I am not worthy of the instrument that are not in my room, but only say the words of
00:48:22my soul shall be healed.

00:58:28Jesus Christ
00:58:28Hi everyone. If you don't know me, I'm Spencer Jenik. I'm director of music here at Holy Cross, and I
00:58:34wanted to take a moment to cordially invite
00:58:36each of you to the music ministry's lenten concert that's coming up this upcoming friday
00:58:44at 7 30 in the church the holy cross scola will be performing dietrich buxtehude's baroque
00:58:51masterpiece membra jesu nostri accompanied by a chamber ensemble now you might be wondering to
00:59:00yourself what is the holy cross scola who is dietrich buxtehude and what is membra jesu nostri
00:59:12about well i thought i'd explain to you each of those things in a little more depth the holy cross
00:59:20scola is a group of some of our most dedicated choir members who with guest singers come together
00:59:28to sing some more advanced music from the choral repertoire at special services throughout the
00:59:35liturgical year and concerts like this dietrich buxtehude was a german composer and organist
00:59:44who lived in the 17th century he was the generation before johann sebastian bach in fact there's a
00:59:52famous apocryphal story that the 15 year old bach made a pilgrimage 80 miles to buxtehude's hometown
01:00:01to hear the master play at his church and ask for some lessons now buxtehude composed the piece that
01:00:11we will be performing membra jesu nostri in 1680
01:00:17it is a sung devotion to jesus as he hung on the cross consisting of seven movements each of which
01:00:26contemplates a different part of christ's crucified body so the first movement is titled ad pedes
01:00:34which in english means to the feet the second is ad genua to the knees and
01:00:42um it reflects on the hands the side the chest the heart and finally the face in turn
01:00:52it's an intensely emotional piece one that explores the emotional tension between the horror
01:01:01of christ's crucifixion and the joy of salvation that it it brought to us it's also exceptionally
01:01:10beautiful music despite being written almost 350 years ago its melodies are just as accessible in
01:01:20my opinion um to many that were written centuries later one other thing we will be incorporating
01:01:28in the instrumental ensemble some string and keyboard instruments from the baroque period
01:01:34that you may have never heard before including a harpsichord that is generously being donated by
01:01:41a parishioner jackie ball of ours i hope you accept this invitation to share in this profound musical
