00:23Looping was released by Ventureline in 1983
00:28for the ColecoVision Home System
00:30It is a port
00:32of an arcade game by the same title
00:34that was released one year earlier
00:36Let's pop it in the old ColecoVision
00:38and give it a try
00:43Looping has four levels
00:44of skill and it's one or two player
00:46I chose skill level one
00:47for the purposes of this review
01:06Alright, in Looping you control
01:08a little airplane that doesn't really look much like an airplane
01:11and it's a pretty basic game
01:14It's very symptomatic
01:16of early arcade games
01:18especially flying
01:20flight kind of games
01:24The controls and looping are basic enough
01:26On the ColecoVision controller
01:29you hold down
01:30to fly
01:32at an upward angle
01:33and up to fly at a downward angle
01:35It's a very common configuration
01:38for flight games that tries to simulate
01:39a flight stick
01:43Of the two buttons on the ColecoVision controller
01:45one controls your shooting
01:47and the other button speeds up your plane
01:53And that's about all you need to know
01:55for controlling your aircraft in this game
01:58I should note that
02:00everything in this game is deadly
02:02You can't touch a single thing
02:04Anything but blank space
02:07will cause your plane to crash
02:10even the top of the screen
02:11as you just saw
02:15Now the object of looping is to
02:17guide your plane to the end of the course
02:19The end of the course
02:21is marked by the end
02:23the words the end
02:25And you can kind of see a glimpse of that
02:27if you look to the left of the starting
02:29takeoff screen
02:31This game is obviously just one short loop
02:34for gameplay area
02:41The ColecoVision system was known
02:43for its wonderful ports of arcade games
02:46and they were in fact very true
02:48to their arcade counterparts
02:49and this is also true with looping
02:52looping is almost an exact replica
02:54of the arcade version
02:57The only problem here
02:58is that the arcade version of looping
03:00was what I like to call a
03:02game
03:04The game feels very disjointed
03:06It doesn't have a very good flow
03:09from one sequence to the other
03:10and it feels a lot like
03:12the gameplay was just created
03:15haphazardly
03:18Although looping is a somewhat challenging game
03:21as far as gameplay is concerned
03:23it's rather lackluster
03:26in actual gaming experience
03:30If you're able to make it
03:31to the actual end of the game
03:32the game will reset
03:34on the next skill level
03:35and each progressive skill level
03:38does little subtle things
03:40to make the game more difficult
03:41but the actual maps don't change
03:44There's more balloons added
03:45to the city area
03:48and faster balloons
03:49and the game generally is more difficult
03:52but not necessarily more fun to play
03:55I wouldn't recommend looping by any means
03:58If you have a ColecoVision
03:59don't go out of your way to pick this thing up
04:02It's more or less a piece of sh**
04:04I'm Dami from Classic Games Revisited
04:07Until next time
