00:05Who are you? Who are you? Who are you? Who are you? Who's there behind the mask?
00:14Come in.
00:17Well, gang, this is it. The finale of Unmasked, the silly little companion show to the silliest show on television.
00:24Everyone's been unmasked. Dignity has left the building. And although Maya Jama has been sure for weeks, I can now
00:31officially confirm that, yes, it is Keisha Buchanan underneath the moth mask.
00:36So grab your popcorn, put your phone on, do not disturb. And let's take one last ride into the land
00:41of over the top costumes, varied vocals and just enough glitter to violate several health codes.
00:48This is Unmasked, the finale. Let's get weird one last time.
00:54It's Toasty, everybody. She's here. Misha Paris, you look so beautiful.
01:01Oh, you're very sweet. Thank you, dolly. You look good, too.
01:03Even though you're coming out the top of a cheese toastie. One of my favourite snacks, to be fair.
01:07Yeah, same. How are you feeling? Soul, legend, multi-platinum selling artists and a cheese toastie. How are you feeling
01:14coming out?
01:15I can't believe I got through it. Yeah. I did songs that I've never done. Like Whitney, I've never sung
01:20a Whitney song.
01:21Well, exactly. Aerosmith.
01:23That was the scariest one. Why was that so scary?
01:26Whitney and Aerosmith were the hardest. Because I knew her. I never wanted to do her songs because I loved
01:31her so much.
01:32She was such an amazing person. And Aerosmith, I just can't rap. So it was like, it was such a
01:38challenge.
01:38Well, you did amazingly well, especially knowing Whitney Houston. What an honour that is for you to be able to
01:44perform that on stage.
01:45Yeah, I mean, I'm sure she would have loved it. I hope so.
01:47Honestly, your voice is unbelievable. That was the resounding news about you because we didn't guess you.
01:55People thought you were Beverly Knight, Shaka Khan, so they knew it was a soul singer. Were you pleased to
02:00have fooled them?
02:01Yeah, I mean, Davina. She's an old mate. Yeah, there you go.
02:05So, wouldn't have been hard. And tell me, how did it feel to become Toasty? Because it's such a fab
02:11costume.
02:12It was great. I mean, I really did this for my grandkids because I wanted them to see me being
02:17silly.
02:18Oh, I hope you're proud of Nana, guys, because you did incredibly well.
02:22Well, congratulations. You did so incredibly well. And honestly, it was just so beautiful to hear you sing.
02:27Thank you. Every weekend. So thank you so much, Misha. Thanks for having me.
02:31I hope you get to go home and maybe eat a real cheese toast.
02:33Hey, definitely. Thank you so much. Bye. Bye, guys.
02:37Woo! It's Cheese Toasty, everybody.
02:39There's nothing quite like losing your head on national television, is there?
02:43One minute you're belting out the absolute ballads dressed as a Cheese Toasty.
02:47The next, your identity is revealed to the nation and the family group chat is popping off in all caps.
02:54But we must move on. Let's go and have a look at what happened when I went and had a
02:57chat with last year's winner, Samantha Barks.
03:00Samantha Barks is here. What's it like to be back, babe?
03:03It's so exciting. I get my own notebook. I'm on the panel. Show everyone your notebook.
03:08I'm official. I'm officially on the panel. It's very, very cool being back.
03:11And you look very gorgeous and glamorous. Thank you.
03:14And we're going to play a really serious game I like to call the name game.
03:17Great. Are you ready? I'm so ready.
03:20Samantha Barks, are you a good driver?
03:23No. I'm not going to pretend I am.
03:26Samantha Barks, are you scared of the dark?
03:29No. No, I'm good. I'm good.
03:31She's confident. You turn the lights off, she'll be fine.
03:33Samantha Barks, what makes you laugh? Your own driving, perhaps?
03:37Oh, what makes me laugh? Ricky Gervais.
03:41Oh, Samantha Sharks. Do you like swimming in the sea?
03:46Not really, because I'm scared of sharks. It's always the fear that a shark's going to come and get me.
03:51Samantha Barks, what's your favourite picnic food?
03:54It's got to be an extra, extra mature cheddar cheese sandwich.
03:58Mmm. Get me that carbohydrate.
04:00Samantha Barks, do you like roller coasters?
04:03I love roller coasters and I will never say no to any ride.
04:06Like, I can't do it. Like, upside down?
04:08Yeah, I can't say no.
04:10Samantha Barks, what's the best country you've ever visited?
04:15Oh, maybe Japan.
04:16Oh, good. Gorgeous.
04:18I'm desperate. I love it.
04:19Samantha Barks, what was your favourite hobby as a child?
04:23Singing.
04:24Well, it really worked out for you.
04:25Samantha Barks, were you a school swat?
04:29Er, no. I loved school, but not a swat.
04:31You were the lead in every play, weren't you?
04:33Yeah.
04:34I loved it. Loved it.
04:36And so it began and here it ends.
04:39Samantha Barks, thank you so much for joining.
04:41I'm basically part of the uncomfortable furniture now,
04:44just a very glittery chair that speaks far too much.
04:47You know what I mean?
04:48Anyway, let's see what happens when I went and chatted
04:51to the actual boss of this place, Liz, the head of talent.
04:56I'm about to go into an area that no one is allowed into, but I'm pretty sure I am.
05:01Come on.
05:03No, you're not.
05:05And I've told you this on numerous occasions.
05:07How many security guards do we have to put on these doors to stop unwanted trespassers
05:12trying to get into the celebrity trailer park of secrets?
05:16Well, I thought someone said that I was allowed.
05:19Who is that someone?
05:20Liz.
05:21No, that's me.
05:22Damn.
05:22So she's now trying to break and enter and telling fibs.
05:26Yeah.
05:27I've been telling everyone that I know Liz.
05:29New.
05:30Not friends anymore.
05:31Okay, will you talk to me instead?
05:33Of course I will, Harriet.
05:34Our gorgeous head of talent, who is the person who picks the celebrities that go on The Masked Singer.
05:40Liz, babe, how long is it in planning when you start putting together the list for The Masked Singer?
05:44Like, it takes a minute, doesn't it?
05:46Well, I've started a list already for next year.
05:49Oh, my gosh.
05:50And then, as of next week, I will start putting out lots and lots of requests.
05:55A year in the making?
05:56Yeah, a year in the making.
05:57Talk me through a typical day in the studio for you.
05:59Okay, so team talent, by the way, who are, like, one of the greatest and works so hard,
06:06will arrive sort of about 45 minutes before any of the cast do.
06:09First thing is get them into vocals, so they do their vocal warm-ups.
06:13Then we will record voiceovers, which are for the clue packages,
06:16so another team come up and take them off to do that.
06:19Then we come into quick change, get them into their costume for rehearsal.
06:25But this is happening constantly.
06:27How do you handle diva requests?
06:30Do you know what?
06:30We're really, really lucky.
06:32We form such a lovely relationship with them all, like, right from the beginning,
06:36from when they're booked.
06:37By the time we get to studio, we all know each other so well,
06:41so they don't really need to be like that.
06:44No divas here, girl.
06:45No divas at all.
06:47Have you got any diva requests of your own?
06:49Oh, yeah.
06:49I'd won this series.
06:50Go on.
06:51So basically, because we...
06:52Yeah, I mean, this was huge.
06:54It was huge.
06:54We had to request a toilet be put in backstage,
06:57so the whole studio was built, and then we had to get another toilet put in.
07:00So we've now got a toilet, which is actually secret.
07:03People don't even know it's there because...
07:04I didn't know it was there.
07:06This is the key to the secret toilet.
07:09So there's a diva toilet that I haven't put my bum on.
07:12Yeah.
07:12I'm enraged.
07:14Do you want to go and have a look?
07:15Yes, please.
07:16Come on, then.
07:17Imagine if someone was in there doing a poo.
07:18Number twos.
07:21As my granddad used to say, no number twos in the downstairs loos.
07:25Can I stand in it?
07:26Please do.
07:27Oh, my God.
07:28I'm in the toilet where celebrities have weed and pooed.
07:32How exciting is this?
07:33Wow, don't say I don't give you anything, guys.
07:35Liz, thank you so much for giving us the backstage tour of your loo,
07:38and also the inside scoop on what's going down with the celebs.
07:42Right, OK, that's enough now.
07:43I've got to lock this.
07:44Turn this out because it's...
07:45I haven't even got time for a wee?
07:47There's no time.
07:47Thanks very much.
07:48I'll live forever dreaming of being able to use that loo, Liz.
07:51Keep dreaming, Harriet.
07:52Keep dreaming.
08:02Ben Sheppard, everybody, AKA Conkers!
08:06Wow, here you are.
08:08You fooled us all, Ben.
08:10Did we get you?
08:10Yes, you did.
08:11This is probably one of the biggest surprises in the masked singer history.
08:16Is it?
08:16I think so.
08:17OK.
08:17How does it feel to be part of such a subterfuge?
08:21The experience has been remarkable.
08:22Davina was talking to me in the most minute detail about what happens if you're a contestant
08:26and how, you know...
08:27And you were like...
08:28I was just...
08:28I was asking loads of questions.
08:30Oh, my God.
08:31One way that you astounded everyone with Conkers and made the audiences fall in love with you was your incredible
08:38characterisation.
08:39Tell me a bit about your alter ego.
08:42It was just about trying to work on that sense that he wants to be really brave and strong because
08:47he's a knight, he's got a castle but actually he's just a little bit nervous as well and he just
08:50wants people to be his mates.
08:52Honestly, it made everybody fall in love with you.
08:55Yeah.
08:55What do you think your kids are going to think?
08:56Are they going to think it's bonkers for Conkers?
08:58They will be thrilled to bits.
09:00And there's...
09:00I mean, how much ammunition have I given them for the rest of their lives?
09:03For the rest.
09:04And me, to be honest.
09:05For everyone.
09:06We've all got ammunition.
09:07Yeah.
09:08Many people might not know this but you are actually a trained dancer.
09:11Could you tell?
09:12I could.
09:13Could you?
09:14Did that help with your running around the stage being a bonker conker?
09:17It...
09:17Look, I've got these wonderful conker feet.
09:20We actually changed this because initially they were quite round and I was trying to dance.
09:23I kept tripping myself over so they...
09:25Oh, my God.
09:25I didn't even notice.
09:27Look at this.
09:27Aren't they incredible?
09:28They are but also they actually look even better now.
09:30I think this is one of the best bits of the costume, the feet.
09:33And, you know, when I was doing the Time of My Life salsa...
09:37Just giving us a little taste.
09:38Did you get that?
09:38Oh, did you get that?
09:39Did you get that, cameraman?
09:40Little taste of that salsa.
09:42Conkers in the corner as salsa.
09:43Those hips do not lie.
09:44Ben Shepard, you fooled us all, including me.
09:46I don't think I'll ever be able to trust again.
09:48But what an incredible masked singer you were.
09:51Ben Shepard, everybody!
09:54And we are Bonkers for Conkers.
09:57We've got no more clues but I've still got a prime delivery.
10:00This one is a gift from our winner, Moth.
10:04What's inside?
10:06It's a tea set!
10:08And that makes a lot of sense
10:09because I've been spilling the piping hot tea all series.
10:13Thank you so much to Moth, the sweetest winner.
10:16Wow, what an icon.
10:18It's Moth, everybody!
10:20Here she is, Keisha Buchanan!
10:22Oh, my gosh, babe.
10:25I know.
10:25How are you feeling right now?
10:26You've just won the Moth singer.
10:28It's crazy.
10:30It's crazy.
10:30I am so shocked
10:32because there were so many amazing, like, singers.
10:35You were absolutely outrageous.
10:37Your vocals stunning.
10:38A sugar babe through and through.
10:41And a sultry Moth.
10:42I know.
10:42It turns out.
10:43She's so cute.
10:44I'm going to miss her so much.
10:45Oh, my God.
10:45She's you and you are her.
10:47Honestly.
10:47I loved becoming Moth.
10:49And as soon as you put the head on, the mask on,
10:52you are literally, you become your character.
10:54And I feel like super close to her, so.
10:55Oh, your little alter ego.
10:57I know.
10:58She is.
10:58Six number one, 16 top tens, a Brit award.
11:02But is this a career highlight for you?
11:04Winning the Moth singer?
11:07Absolutely.
11:09I'm literally, I don't really do much by myself.
11:11And so I've grown so much in my confidence being here.
11:15It's just been so nice to kind of get me out of my comfort zone.
11:17What is the weirdest thing about singing alone?
11:20Because like you say, you've always been in a trio.
11:22Singing by yourself, you don't, you kind of just have to deliver.
11:26Like, there's no one else to kind of look to.
11:29And, oh, can you sing that part?
11:30You know.
11:31What do you think your sugar babes bandmates are going to say about this?
11:35What do you think is going to be their reaction?
11:36They don't know anything that's going on.
11:38And I think that they're going to be super proud of me.
11:42But, yeah, they're going to be so shocked that I even did this.
11:45Because I'm, yeah, I normally am like, oh, no.
11:47But, yeah.
11:48It's an accolade that you now get to live with forever.
11:50I mean, being a winner of the Moth singer is a big deal.
11:55Clearly, honestly, I'm so shocked.
11:57Are you so shocked?
11:57I'm so shocked.
11:59I'm so shocked.
11:59I'm not shocked.
12:00I'm telling you, I'm so shocked.
12:01Every single time they called out my name, there were moments
12:03where they would call my name and I was like, who, me?
12:05Me?
12:06Am I not?
12:07And also a very similar name to Sloth, Moth Sloth.
12:10Yeah.
12:10So there were times where I was just like, Sloth Sloth, and I'm like, oh.
12:15So, yeah.
12:16How has it been bringing Moth to life?
12:18She's a jazz sensation.
12:20She's like in Smoky Jazz Cafe.
12:21Yeah.
12:22What was it like creating her?
12:23I had a lot of fun just walking in for the first time and seeing, like, her.
12:28She's beautiful.
12:29Like, just a minute.
12:29She's so cute.
12:30And I feel like she's helped you, like, break out of your own chrysalis and do solo ting and, like,
12:35enjoy yourself.
12:36Yeah.
12:36Definitely.
12:37I mean, she's definitely given me, like, a new perspective on many different things.
12:42Mm-hmm.
12:43And I really needed this.
12:45I really, I didn't even know I needed it, but I really did.
12:48I needed this for myself.
12:49You deserve every second of this.
12:51Bask in the glory of Moth.
12:53But stay out of my wardrobe, please.
12:55Keisha, I don't want you in there.
12:57Thank you so much.
12:58And congratulations.
12:59We have our Masked Singer winner.
13:02Woo!
13:04Oh, my God.
13:05You smashed it.
13:06Well done, girl.
13:08Well done.
13:08And there we have it.
13:10Just like all your favorite TV shows, we're wrapping things up right when you were finally
13:15starting to understand what on earth was going on.
13:18We've irritated the judges.
13:19We have grilled every single one of our unmasked celebs.
13:23Sweaty, slightly disorientated, but always delightful.
13:26And I've personally given this show everything I've got, which, in hindsight, is mostly dad jokes,
13:32pulled muscles, and sometimes dressing like a rat in a tool belt.
13:35So, as we turn off the lights on another wild and wonderful series, I just want to say it's been
13:41a ride.
13:41A loud, sparkly, slightly confusing ride, but a great one all the same.
13:46Harriet Rose, unmasked and out.
13:49Guys?
13:50Is this the part where I reveal that I've actually been Joel Domit under here the whole time?
13:55Guys?
13:56Guys?
13:57I think they've gone.
13:59We know you guys.
14:01Oh, OK.
14:15See you next night.
14:16Bye!
14:23Bye, guys!
