00:34At a broad strategic level, what's the best way to use Carappa?
00:37Carappa is an extremely short range character.
00:40Probably has the shortest range of any character in our game.
00:42When he is in close, he can perform devastating attacks, punches and kicks.
00:46It's all in the mind.
00:47Delivers a lot of really cool and interesting devastating combos.
00:49And for the entire three minutes of a timed match,
00:52he's just going to spend that entire time trying to get in close and do his great combo.
00:55There's sort of a tap dance move he does where you can jump and push down a circle.
00:59You just bash guys, batter them on the ground from above.
01:03We call this his thousand kicks.
01:05So he's got two attacks that are basically the cornerstones.
01:07So the thousand kicks, Parappa will take an angle and sort of come in at a B-line.
01:12Once he's on top of you, he's really good at doing this.
01:14He can come straight down, deliver a bunch of sort of kicks all the way down your body.
01:18Really good at, one, at generating a fair amount of AP,
01:20but also knocks the opponent down right on top of Parappa,
01:23which is exactly where he wants to be.
01:24The thousand fists, much like it sounds,
01:27is a reigning barrage of punches that Parappa executes.
01:31Another move that's great for mobility and for hitting enemies is he has a skateboard smash.
01:35Now the ground version, you can hit a guy with that and they'll knock down.
01:38But the air version of that is excellent.
01:40You can dart halfway across the screen.
01:42You'll kind of slide when you hit the ground.
01:43I've found myself wiping on multiple enemies in one blow with that.
01:46It moves really, really fast.
01:48He's pretty well protected while he's executing it.
01:50He can actually, he's a monster at generating AP.
01:53He can actually drop a boombox and make it.
01:55One of the few characters I've seen have that kind of control over their energy level.
01:59The side effect of that, of course, is then he has to protect that space
02:01because anyone can come in and pick up those AP balls.
02:10Let's talk about those supers because, as we've said before,
02:13PlayStation All-Stars, it's all about getting those supers and getting kills.
02:15Yeah, so Parappa's level one super is a very short-ranged kind of flip kick.
02:20It also has some additional functionality in that it can attack players who are kind of up and at an
02:24angle.
02:25Parappa.
02:26It doesn't have the best range, but it is one of the lower supers in terms of cost.
02:31But the level two is, I think, one that a lot of people are going to be going for.
02:34It's a go-to super.
02:36Hops on his skateboard and he basically blitzes through the level.
02:39And you have some control over him.
02:40If you can catch opponents sort of all in a corner, Hades, I think, has a lot of these little
02:45sort of nooks and crannies
02:46where you can sort of take guys by surprise and you limit their escape routes very early
02:50by sort of moving out to the side, activating the super, and then coming at them
02:55while they're all sort of trapped in a corner, really hard to get out of.
02:58His level three is interesting, too.
03:00It's basically a screen-clearing move.
03:03It's the first one I've seen in PlayStation All-Stars.
03:06There's a very hard kill limit on that super.
03:09You're never going to kill more than three people with Parappa's level three super.
03:12Now, what would you say for a beginner?
03:14What's the best strategy starting out first time with Parappa?
03:18The best starting strategy with Parappa is to get familiar with his thousand punches and his thousand kicks.
03:22You'll be using those attacks a lot.
03:24Players who like pushing buttons, players who like believing in themselves.
03:28All of those, I think, attributes lend themselves really well to being a Parappa player.
