00:00in my previous videos i demonstrated how you can password protect your worksheet
00:04and workbook and at the same time showed you how to remove this protection without the password
00:10in the event if you've forgotten your password if you need the link to those previous video
00:14please leave a request on the comment section or dm me today's videos i'm going to address
00:20a subscriber's concern is that no surefire way to protect your excel spreadsheet well there is
00:27one way to do it let me show you how that's done you're going to go to file save as
00:32browse and over
00:34here there's a tool click on the tool the pull down menu will appear click on general options here like
00:40this and then after that you'll be presented with two ways to protect it either password protect while
00:46you're opening or password protect when you modify it i'm going to stick to basic and just say password
00:52protect when opening and put a password in there and click on ok you'll be required to enter password
00:59again just to be sure that the passwords are correct so we're going to say abc the same password again
01:04and click ok and click on save and then over here you're going to ask you are we going to
01:10replace the
01:10same file name i'm going to say yes for this test and then i'm going to close this so the
01:16next time when
01:17i open my workbook i'll be prompted with a password well the password was abc to open it and click
01:24ok
01:25this is the most secured method to lock your excel spreadsheet if you're thinking of changing the
01:31file name extension to zip as shown in my previous video and to open the xml file note while you
01:36can
01:36modify the file name extension but while trying to open the zip file it will result in an error as
01:42shown
01:42on the screen now if you have forgotten your password at this stage you will have to use a third
01:47party
01:48software or some paid service to unlock your spreadsheet
