Boomer Esiason equated St. John's swarming defense to the likes of the 2000 Ravens and 1985 Bears!
Transcript
00:00And I'll equate it in football terms of, like, playing the 2000 Ravens, playing the 85 Bears.
00:07Like, they were so quick and so fast and so relentless and so much into your face that, like, there
00:13wasn't a lot of time to make decisions.
00:15Yeah.
00:15And, you know, decision-making in sports, especially when it involves either skates or running up and down for lunatics
00:23for 40 minutes,
00:23like, you know, college basketball is this time of year, you know, you can't replicate that in practice.
00:31You can try to tell your players, this is the way it's going to be.
00:35This is what we have to do.
00:37And then all of a sudden, out come the bad passes.
00:40You can't get the ball inbounds.
00:42You end up throwing it away.
00:44I mean, I just, it's one thing after the next, and it starts adding up.
00:48And, again, this is one of the reasons why, you know, just really knowing the St. John's team and how
00:55they play and what they're predicated on
00:57and the foundation that Coach Patino has built and how this team really has come together.
01:04I mean, it was, the defense is the impressive part of it.
01:08But the other part of it is, it's just like when they needed a bucket, they got one.
01:12And when they needed to get the bucket to win the game, they got one.
