00:22Let's just take something easy like Virtua Tennis and if you go into the detail page you can find out
00:29all about it you can see trailers see who's playing it or I'll just go play now and start it
00:34up and as you can see the game starts up instantly took about two seconds there maybe and there we
00:41are we're in Virtua Tennis it's very different a conventional game system in that the games are actually preloaded on
00:47our servers in the cloud and you click on them and they go so I can then go and click
00:51ready
00:52here and choose some players okay I think we'll do boys against girls here there you go and you notice
01:01that a spectating message came up in the upper right that's because we're live and there's somebody out there who's
01:07actually watching us any of the games I mean you can set your privacy settings if you don't want anyone
01:10to watch you but most people don't and you can just watch any game and play so here's a live
01:15game and I'm going to attempt to play tennis well she aced me so that's not very good
01:20and let's try one more time here all right good so get it back let's see if I can get
01:28up to the net here oh no all right wait I'm going to show how terrible that was by making
01:33a brag clip so you see that clicking sound pad thai that's me created a brag clip so a brag
01:40clip I'm going to quit the game now is the last 10 seconds of your game play
01:45it can be something great or something not so great like you just saw there and I'm going to go
01:49out to the brag clips and these are all the brag clips everyone has and you can see there's Virtua
01:53Tennis and here's my brag clip
01:56and there it is where I attempt to hit it and fail so then you can go and give us
02:02a rating I think I'll rate it myself a 1 that was so bad but as you can see we
02:08got lots of brag clips here in fact we can do these really cool 3D effects while we have live
02:12video
02:13because of course all the servers are back at our data center right now about 350 miles away from our
02:19data center in Silicon Valley but nonetheless the performance feels like I'm playing locally
02:24I can go and look at the highest rated brag clips here and just checking out some of them like
02:30oh this is a cool one from Just Cause 2 check out how he clips the wing just slightly there
02:36on that palm tree and the plane parks itself in the hangar
02:40awesome alright so that's one of the best brag clips that people have done since on live went live in
02:46June and you got just tons of them here all sorts of cool stuff
02:49the other great thing about on live is the arena you just watch people play so here's all these people
02:54playing games all over the place so here's someone playing NBA 2K10 and I can find out about them they've
03:01been a member since June 24th
03:02uh and uh I can watch the full game there and I can kind of like cheer them on here
03:08I just gave them a cheer or that thumbs up thing there I guess I could cheer them too
03:13uh and you can go across to uh you know someone playing a casual game like World of Goo an
03:19indie game here's someone playing Borderlands uh check their profile out and so they joined June 30th they've got 44
03:27friends in fact I can check out their brag clips but we also have some cool stuff
03:31uh that is only possible because we're doing cloud gaming so first of all let me show you something that
03:37uh you normally don't see which is you can have a trailer play instantly
03:41so here's a trailer for the new Harry Potter movie and it also gives the idea what the video compression
03:45looks like when you're dealing with live action video
03:47so you go and say well this is great for movies but I'm a gamer I want to see things
03:51this real in a game
03:52well it turns out that uh technology used for the faces in the Harry Potter movie was um done by
04:00a company called Mova which is a subsidiary of OnLive
04:03and we have a little demo here of what Mova does
04:05Hi, I'm Jennifer, welcome to OnLive
04:09So that face there is a computer generated face and no matter what you try to do with a console
04:17or a local computer you would not have enough horsepower
04:20to have a face like that run in real time but with OnLive because we've got such powerful servers in
04:26the data center
04:27we can achieve that you can see the glassy eyes she has you can see the very slight movements in
04:33the nose and so on
04:34so what's really exciting about OnLive is you know today we've got games that are the kind of games that
04:38you play on a PlayStation 3 or Xbox or a PC
04:42but what's really cool is the future and what you'll be start seeing next year are games which can't be
04:48played on any local devices
04:49which have that kind of realism
04:50The thing that's great about them is you never need to upgrade your OnLive system
04:54no matter what the game is whether it's an old one or a new one
04:57it plays instantly and you always have very high performance coming into your home
