00:20There's a real visceral sense of being immersed in the game
00:23when you're holding something physical in your hand and you do it.
00:25The controller itself really contributes to the feeling
00:29that you are a wizard.
00:30You have a magic wand in your hand and Finn has a magic wand in his hand.
00:35It's the best one-to-one connection with a character that I've ever felt.
00:41When we first took the controller and whirled it over our head and saw the apprentice conjure
00:46a tornado out of the ground, I was like, that is something different.
00:49That is not just another press the button and cast your spell.
00:51He just conjured a tornado.
00:52This is awesome.
00:59The high concept started out as a very iconic demand.
01:03What if you one day found a magic wand in a box?
01:06What would you do with it?
01:07What would you try?
01:08What would you hope and imagine that it could do?
01:10This is fun!
01:12Sorcery was designed from the ground up to be a move title.
01:16With a lot of games, you start sort of retrofitting, saying, oh, we're going to take an existing
01:19game that has a DualShock control scheme, and then try to figure out how to work the move
01:24into that.
01:25But with Sorcery, from the very beginning, we built everything around making the move an
01:30an essential central part of gameplay.
01:31Of many places that I've worked, our studios are a little different in that we are a little
01:36more physical, and we kind of embrace that, especially working with the move.
01:41So when you cast a spell and to throw up your arm in a shield, there's really something that
01:47came out of how we talked about the game.
01:57A lot of the motion control games that you see, sort of like it's detecting that you're
02:01doing something, but it's not precise.
02:03What really excites me when I play Sorcery is the degree of control you have.
02:06So if I'm using it to cast arcane bolts at somebody, it actually matters where I'm pointing
02:10the controller at the screen.
02:12But we could also have the player put English on it.
02:13So for example, if you cast like this or cast like that, that actually hooks the bolts
02:18around and arcs them in interesting ways.
02:20So it becomes a very technical, a very skill-based gameplay experience.
02:25Fighting is active.
02:27Drawing a firewall, throwing a bowl through it, those movements are quick, fast.
02:33Spell switching is on the fly, and it's a movement, it's not a button press.
02:38As you get deeper into Sorcery, you learn more spells.
02:41You gain a command over the elements, ice, fire, wind, electricity.
02:45Then we found that combining them was cool.
02:48Cast your whirlwind through fire, the fire is sucked up off the ground, and your whirlwind
02:52becomes a fire tornado.
02:53Cast your bolts into a fire-nado, and fire bolts are multiplied and spread throughout the arena.
02:58Every spell in Sorcery can be combined with the other spells to produce a deep combo system.
03:02So we have to add all the secrets from that spot.
03:02Let's see the last time.
03:02Oh no, we've got to leave you in.
