05:30So the game plan is to take that door and put it here.

05:42And the new structure would house High School Alpine in the bottom, Middle School Alpine at top, and similar setup.

07:04The Miranda Cook ski team needs more space, so the plan is to add a 16 by 20 addition
07:09with a dormer that will be dedicated to the alpine ski teams.
07:12The first floor will be for the high school students.
07:15We'll insulate and pine, add a heating and cooling system, and brand new ski tuning benches
07:19and racks.
07:20And we'll do the same on the second floor for the middle school students.
07:23On the exterior, we'll match the original building by using board and batten siding,
07:26stained gray.
07:27Once the addition is finished, we'll build out four different entrances for each of the teams,
07:31and we'll add a new set of stairs on either side of the building for the middle school
07:34Nordic and alpine students.
07:37All right, so what Ron didn't tell you is he's got the excavation lined up starting tomorrow,
07:45so we need to get that staircase off that side so that it's out of the way before they get
07:49going.

31:00I own and operate a ski tuning business in Rangeley, Maine.

31:07And when I was buying a lot of my equipment, I had the chance to buy a few extra pieces.
31:15This edger, I just had kicking around the shop.
31:17I haven't used it.
31:19So, I figured it'd be great to give to the high school ski team.

31:24Basically, what it does is it sharpens the side edge of an alpine ski or snowboard.
31:29So, you'll get the machine going.
31:30You take your ski, feed your ski through.
31:32It's kind of like sharpening a knife.

31:35Can I tune a ski now?
31:36That's why we have Dixie.
31:38Dixie's been tuning in my skis probably since I started skiing.

31:53So, Chase and I had planned out an art piece.
31:57So, I want to do the school's acronym, M-C-S, to put his decoration on the side of the

32:10And then that's when we came up with the idea of just making a chunky M.
32:14So, instead of putting it together at the back 40 when we were there...

32:19It's so stressful making an M out of skis.

32:49So, then we just kind of handed them to us.

35:30As you can see, there's four separate areas.
35:33Each one has their own entrance.
35:35We didn't do too much to the Nordic side of the building.
35:37We moved all of the Alpine equipment from the top floor to the new addition.
35:42So now that top floor is all middle school Nordic space.
35:45We've got a staircase on the back side for the second floor of the middle school Nordic
35:51team.
35:51And we've got a staircase on this side for the middle school Alpine team.
35:56Yeah, you know, just because you're separated now, I did make up signs and we hung them
36:00beside each door so that then there's no mistaking.
36:03Yeah, and the middle school Alpine has never had any space.
36:06So this addition is going to be fantastic for them and they'll have a place to keep their
36:10own gear and do their tuning.
36:12Right, and that's keep those middle schoolers out of your space.
36:14Yeah.
36:15So for us to now be able to be separate, it'll make both programs that much more efficient.
36:19And then Ashley came up with a design of the M with the skis.
36:24If you flip it over, it's a W for win.
36:28You know, to utilize both Alpine and Nordic skis is just perfect.

38:51I just thought it's really going to be nice to have our own space, you know,
38:53not have to share with the middle school anymore.

38:58And it would also be nice for the middle school Alpine ski team to finally have their own space
39:03to tune their skis instead of having to purchase all the equipment for every family.
