00:20so this one is I think she's like sitting there she's she's all dressed up for her
00:28tinkerbell outfit which is very true to who she is it's one of my favorite um kid photos of her
00:34yeah she's like a aspiring to be a model like her beauty is like unmatched you know like you can
00:42see
00:43you know the light in her eyes this is like my favorite photo of you two
00:53I am the crier in my family and I do apologize for it anymore because there are tears of strength
00:58now
01:00and it's for her my name is Skye Roberts I am the younger brother of Virginia Roberts
01:06Jufre my name is Amanda Roberts and I'm the sister-in-law of Virginia Roberts
01:11when I hear Jeffrey Epstein's name it makes my skin crawl he changed our family's lives forever
01:18she suffered at the at the hands of him and he sex trafficked her we're at this tipping point we
01:25are at that crossroads where we decide which path we're going to take Virginia took down a prince
01:34and that is one for the history books
01:44here's a man who was a prince he's a queen's favorite son it felt like an open secret now a
01:52complete pariah more controversy brewing today over prince andrew and his links to a convicted sex
01:57offender when we talk about these three million documents what more is still to come the shocking
02:03royal arrest the former prince andrew taken into custody to continue to read these emails the
02:08biggest problem is that andrew is a liar deep inside the palace walls the royal press team are panicking
02:15we're living in what is an absolutely modern 21st century royal scandal
02:29doesn't seem to be a day that goes by that there are not new revelations i've been covering the royal
02:36family for 25 36 years and i personally think this is the biggest scandal they've had on my watch and
02:44that includes the time of charles and diana the story just grows and grows and grows
02:53people have been demanding the full epstein file for years then in late january the u.s department
02:58of justice suddenly dropped another major batch of documents three million documents containing some
03:06of the deepest secrets of the epstein files graphic accusations of young women and girls being
03:12trafficked to men in rich and powerful positions a member of the royal family in photos crouching over
03:19a young woman's body the thing is everyone knows his face but also buried in here are emails between a
03:28sexual predator and a literal prince epstein telling andrew i have a friend who i think you might enjoy
03:36having dinner with the duke responds give her my contact details to get in touch descriptions of women
03:43russian clever beautiful five other stunning head heads we will all just have to play with ourselves
03:51andrew asking if someone has found me some new inappropriate friends
04:03what i find extraordinary is not necessarily that andrew had the arrogance to do this
04:10it's that he was bringing a convicted sex offender into places into the queen's private homes and nobody
04:18said anything this is such a fall from grace for andrew there is no coming back from this this is
04:26incredibly serious
04:31this young man who is destined to be familiar with the camera all his life
04:35certainly isn't camera shy the man formerly known as prince andrew he is the queen's
04:42second son and her third child there was quite a big age difference between charles and anne and then
04:50andrew and edward so the queen had actually more settled into her her role as monarch so she could
04:56devote a bit more time to her younger two children there was a clearly a really really special bond between
05:03the late queen and her son just like actors and actresses those who are young and beautiful or handsome
05:15catch the eye of the population and andrew mountbatten windsor as prince andrew was very dashing
05:25he was in the royal navy he was known as a falklands war hero we all remember those iconic images
05:33of him getting off the ship and he had that red rose in between his teeth and the crowds were
05:38roaring their approval he gave a new meaning to hrh his royal heartthrob
05:44andrew has had a reputation in britain which is not completely dissimilar
05:49to a lot of the spares if you like they're a little bit more wild a little bit more carefree
05:54that they love to party they're almost slightly damaged a sort of party prince playboy lifestyle
06:00he got the nickname in the in the british tabloids as randy andy because he had a series of very
06:06very
06:07beautiful girlfriends the american actress ku stark absolutely glamorous in the 80s
06:15and then he was introduced to sarah ferguson by the late princess of wales princess diana
06:22remember what he said absolutely but i'm not telling you she was a very boisterous and enthusiastic
06:29woman she seemed to bring a freshness and excitement she took his heart i loved it
06:34today i was very proud of you and it was a it was a modern day fairy tale for the
06:40two and the public
06:46who loved it
06:48why do you want me to kiss you don't hurry up why stop filming quick you're a monster
06:54but what's funny and perhaps sad at the same time is that i think people remember
07:00the scandals surrounding their marriage rather than the marriage itself
07:04the notorious pictures spread all over the papers i mean who could forget the toe sucking scandal
07:13the duchess of york is lying on a sun lounger topless with her toes being sucked
07:20by her financial advisor the rawls don't have their toes sucked by outsiders but if they do it's not
07:27expected that the proof will be published by the vulgar tabloid press i didn't think that we'd ever get
07:32good i didn't think that it would be like that or that the press would dig a trench for three
07:37days
07:37and live in it what was also worse is that her daughters were there princess usually and princess
07:42beatrice utterly humiliating for her and humiliating for andrew as well
07:49the duke and the duchess of york better known as prince andrew and fergie are planning a formal
07:54separation for someone who's really always been pining for love and acknowledgement and approval
07:59what could be better than standing on the balcony in front of billions of people shouting at me
08:04screaming and clapping
08:09and so i'm sure it went to my head and i sort of lost my way
08:16if you look at his life and what he's achieved it just kind of fizzled away there was no role
08:22for him
08:23he didn't know what he stood for and we see that play out with all the spares it is a
08:29recipe for
08:30sadness and forlornment and listlessness over the years it's become very clear that there's been a lot
08:38of money spent on what seemed to be a very lavish lifestyle i think there's always been a certain
08:43amount of mystery as to where the money has come from how they have afforded certain things andrew wants
08:49to feel like he's a glamorous sexy guy how does he do it you have to pay for it
08:58andrew was introduced to epstein at some point in the 90s via gilaine maxwell who was his friend
09:05i think they were enthralled by him he was machiavellian he was a rasputin he was extraordinary
09:12and not in a good way epstein wanted access he wanted to be in the innermost inner circle
09:18he did that through mixing with aristocracy mixing with royalty he was weaseling his way
09:25into royal circles andrew wanted access to beautiful women he wanted a party lifestyle
09:31he wanted to get away from the stuffiness of english royal life
09:39i mean i think what's been so illuminating about these emails is that you really get a sense of
09:45this free flow of communication and information between andrew and epstein
09:53buckingham palace is mentioned quite a lot in these emails andrew offers it as a location for
09:58a private dinner with epstein there's almost a sense that andrew has this what is a publicly funded
10:03official property at his disposal in a personal capacity he emails the duke requesting private time
10:12together lots of privacy these emails really look as if andrew and epstein are dating
10:22it's disgusting i don't know what sort of power or information that jeffrey epstein held over sarah
10:30and andrew but clearly it was something enough of something to keep that relationship going what's
10:36really shocking is that it appears that the two men remained really close even as epstein was facing
10:43pretty serious criminal charges epstein was being investigated for sex offenses involving girls
10:50as young as 14 and in 2008 he reached what is now viewed as a very controversial plea deal to
10:57plead
10:58guilty to charges of soliciting a minor and as a result of that he had to serve 18 months in
11:04prison
11:04and he was also placed under house arrest after he serves his time he now has to register as a
11:11sex
11:11offender think about that you would think that people in these very high places would not want to have
11:20close relationships with said person particularly pretty close to the time of when it happened and
11:28what these emails show is prince andrew was one of the first people that jeffrey epstein reached out to
11:35when he was released and immediately is talking about sending women to it
11:43in that email exchange epstein told the duke about a 26 year old russian woman and said that he gave
11:50that woman andrew's email the duke replied that was quick how are you good to be free the date on
11:59this
11:59email is august 12 2010 this is just days after epstein had been released from house arrest in 2010 epstein
12:07is a free man at this point he's not really a household name his crimes are certainly not front
12:14and center on the global stage but all of that is about to change thanks to prince andrew and a
12:23walk in
12:24the park that became very notorious
12:33when the story first appeared in the news of the world under the headline prince and the pedo with
12:38a photograph of andrew and epstein walking in central park together it it was a big story it was there
12:44front and center a picture can tell a thousand words right you know this is a nightmare for the palace
12:50it really is absolutely baffling how could he still maintain that friendship
13:08when the photographs came out it was just like this power back to her and she could say like i
13:16told you
13:16i was telling you the truth and the truth will always have a a way to surface it's difficult to
13:23learn about sexual abuse with anybody in your family
13:30we lived just outside of palm beach it was in a little town called loxahatchee florida
13:34that's how she got connected with with jeffrey epstein and galane was my father was employed at
13:40mar-a-largo and then she became a spa attendant there and that's where
13:45obviously galane recruited her we always supported her i mean especially
13:51my brother and i and amanda i mean we've always supported her i remember her
13:55you know saying skydy you're gonna see some stuff coming out like just don't look at it she always
14:03said i never want this evil to touch you the same evil that touched me in this world it's so
14:08many others
14:09virginia dufre was perhaps epstein's most prominent accuser she says that she was recruited
14:14by epstein and maxwell and that she became epstein's sex slave effectively is what she says and she
14:23traveled with them spent time with them and she has also made serious accusations against
14:28print andrew accusing him of sexual assault during this time
14:33virginia roberts spoke to the bbc about her allegations
14:37giland tells me that i have to do for andrew what i do for jeffrey and that made me sick
14:49it was disgusting he got up and he said thanks and walked out and i sat there in bed just
14:59horrified and
15:00ashamed and felt dirty and of course she has that now infamous photo of herself at just 17 years old
15:06in ghilane maxwell's apartment it's of her maxwell and prince andrew virginia dufre alleged that she was
15:15trafficked to prince andrew and ended up having sex with him three times to be clear andrew has always
15:22consistently maintained that he did nothing wrong that he never sexually abused or assaulted virginia
15:28dufre what do you make of prince andrew's denials can you comment on that he has been outspoken he
15:35knows exactly what he's done and i hope he comes clean about it thank you
15:44in 2011 andrew stepped back from his role as uk trade envoy due to the controversy surrounding
15:51his links to epstein it was a bad situation there was a lot of pressure on the palace over this
15:57at
15:57the time every weekend there'd be another bit of a story about the relationship between epstein and
16:03andrew and we were just playing catch up at one point in early 2011 the pair were apparently emailing
16:12epstein wrote to andrew the press is piling on me in the states nothing to do just want to make
16:18sure
16:18you're okay prince andrew responded i'm just as concerned for you don't worry about me it would seem
16:25we are in this together and we'll have to rise above it something that really shocked me about the epstein
16:31files is that it's not all men there are some high profile powerful well-connected women who show
16:38extraordinarily poor judgment andrew's ex-wife sarah ferguson is one of them fergie had a very
16:46seemingly quite independent relationship with epstein we know that he paid off 15 000 pounds of her
16:53personal debts there's an email from sarah to epstein from 2011 where fergie wrote you've always been a
17:00steadfast generous and supreme friend to me and my family what we have seen in the epstein files is
17:06that it appears that sarah ferguson visited the then convicted sex offender with her daughters eugenie
17:13and beatrice while he was still under house arrest it's just such an extraordinary lapse in judgment did
17:20she not think how it would look it looks like she's endorsing epstein at the time fergie issued a public
17:27apology during an interview saying that she regretted her relationship with epstein but what we now know
17:33from the epstein files is that she continued emailing him for a while even after that i'm sure there was
17:40a
17:40time when the palace probably thought that it couldn't get any worse but it did over the next few years
17:47this
17:47wasn't really front and center all the time
17:52but in 2019 that was the year when everything changed in july officials hit epstein with federal
18:01charges of sex trafficking young women and underage girls and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking he's
18:08arrested and thrown into a new york city jail it took a while to get there it took some time
18:15to put
18:16together the case there was a real sense that these victims his accusers that they were going to
18:21get some accountability some real accountability and then not long after he was arrested epstein was
18:29found dead in jail jeffrey epstein has died an apparent suicide there was still this desire for
18:36accountability and then in late 2019 andrew decided to do a no holds barred interview about his links to
18:47jeffrey epstein the pitch was the country does not think you are an innocent man so in a sense this
18:55interview was a potential opportunity to clear his name of course it turned out very differently
19:07did i watch the bbc news night interview how can anyone forget it tonight for the first time prince
19:15andrew speaks out it was pompous it was arrogant but worse than all of that it was full of lies
19:21if you
19:22imagine the prince andrew former prince andrew brand in a sense someone who had been a war hero a
19:28glamorous prince and now he is forgotten at best and maybe a pariah at worst this interview was a
19:36potential opportunity to clear his name so to speak i wouldn't have advised it he chose to do it
19:44your royal highness we've come to buckingham palace in highly unusual circumstances when he was asked
19:52about what had happened with his relationship with jeffrey epstein why were you staying with a
19:56convicted sex offender right he said that conversation had ceased that the relationship had ended i went
20:03there with the sole purpose of saying to him that because he had been convicted it was inappropriate for
20:11us to be seen together we now know from these emails that that wasn't the case was that visit december
20:17of 2010 the only time you saw him after he was convicted did you see him or speak to him
20:25again
20:27actually contact did continue he was emailing epstein in early in 2011 and throughout 2011
20:34and it's called into question all the things that he said in that interview andrew made some extraordinary
20:40claims in the bbc interview some of the claims were shifty some of them were outright ludicrous
20:47she described dancing with you and you profusely sweating and that she went on to have
20:54bath bath bath possibly there's a slight problem with with with with the sweating um because
21:01i i i have a peculiar medical condition which is that i don't sweat um or i didn't sweat at
21:09the time
21:09he's sweating in the interview for goodness sake there's so many moments where i'm just like
21:15he's putting himself into a corner and in a trap he said repeatedly that he didn't remember
21:21meetings virginia dufray she provided a photo of the two of you together yes your arm was around
21:28her waist yes you've seen the photo i've seen the photograph how do you explain that i can't
21:35because i don't i have no again i have absolutely no memory of that photograph ever being taken virginia
21:42was laughing because of how ridiculous it was and he was fumbling about his hand on her waist and all
21:48these things she was just like this is what they do it was an absolute car crash i remember sitting
21:55at
21:55home watching it with my mouth open thinking could this get any worse i took uh nautily a photo
22:03at the end of the interview and emily looked aghast and he looked pleased frankly andrew was so
22:11thick that he probably watched that interview back and thought it was fine because these guys are so
22:17entitled they think they're going to get away with it every time rather than putting a line under a
22:23story drawing a line under a story you've actually inflamed it inflamed it to the most enormous
22:29proportions i anticipated that this was going to be car crash train wreck television in fact it was a
22:35train wreck running into a fuel tanker which just burst into flames it had dawned on everyone just how
22:41bad this was and also i think how offended people were by his attitude to his links to epstein generally
22:47he can't just carry on as normal this crisis is not winding down prince andrew taking a break from
22:54his royal duties prince andrew stripped of his military title prince andrew settling out of
22:59court for an undisclosed amount with his accuser virginia roberts giuffre he does not admit to
23:04assaulting or even meeting giuffre prince no more prince andrew officially stripped of his royal title and
23:10evicted from his home why did it take them so long to act and to condemn him it's all happened
23:17when
23:18public interest has become so fierce and so negative that the royal family were forced to act he's had
23:25all his titles removed and he's now been moved by the king from living in windsor out to effectively
23:32the equivalent of british siberia the recent like stripping of his title man that day i remember we were
23:42at work and i couldn't even hold myself together physically i was like virginia if you could see
23:50that even now like what you have done like a king had to acknowledge that something happened here it
23:59was tears of joy in the sense of you know the accomplishment that the king had to acknowledge
24:05but let's be clear like we need to do more
24:13i feel in my lifetime i haven't seen the monarchy under such pressure than it is at the moment
24:20how can you brush this off how can you come back from this how can the royal family survive
24:28ultimately the price he has paid is public humiliation the price he has paid is
24:34withdrawal from public life and that punishment i suppose is about as profound as you can get for
24:39a member of the royal family but some people will say it does not go far enough as of right
24:45now it seems
24:46the only realistic criminal action against prince andrew could be in england of all the emails there seems
24:53to be one in particular which appears to show andrew forwarding government documents to epstein and uk
25:00officials are looking into whether that could be criminal that's serious the palace says it will
25:05fully cooperate with any investigation
25:10stunning breaking news out of great britain yes former prince andrew arrested this is an absolutely
25:16seismic moment andrew had already lost his homes his reputation and his titles now he is under arrest
25:24by british police on suspicion of misconduct in public office law enforcement launching a coordinated
25:29operation on king charles's private estate in sandringham where andrew had been sent into effective
25:34exile let's be very clear andrew former prince of the realm the king's own brother has been arrested
25:42i never thought i'd say those words nobody did this is something that has not happened in modern
25:48royal history at all well we've seen the picture of prince andrew as he's been released and he looks a
25:54man
25:54in deep shock he's been released without charge but still under investigation this is really all that
26:00people are going to be able to talk about when it comes to the royal family this has engulfed them
26:06once investigators start going through what they find on british soil documents emails financial
26:12records who knows where it leads it's a pandora's box there could be more fallout in all this they could
26:20discover more controversy in those files and don't forget gillaine maxwell is still in prison playing
26:25cat and mouse with authorities she's even said she would talk but only if the president gives her
26:31clemency the story around andrew has been around in one form or another for the best part of 15 to
26:4020
26:40years thoughts and prayers for victims are all very well and good but i think what those victims want more
26:46than anything else so survivors want more than anything else is accountability virginia jufray's
26:50impact has been huge here she's made these very high profile accusations against prince andrew she
26:55tragically died by suicide last year but the impact that she has had continues to be huge
27:09while it might seem that we're in the middle of the road of this actually in many ways this is
27:14just
27:14beginning we're going to stand and we're going to fight our only agenda is accountability we need
27:20to pass virginia's law to eliminate the statute of limitations we need survivors to be taken seriously
27:26virginia's law basically eliminate the statute of limitations moving backwards to sue
27:35for sexual abuse virginia's dream was to inspire and empower survivors to come forward
27:41i'm like please i hope you're with us and i hope you're seeing it through my eyes just what you
27:46did
27:46girl because like you're changing the world we are at that crossroads where we decide which path we're
27:55going to take every single person that was involved in this sex trafficking ring needs to be fully
28:02investigated doesn't matter if it's former prince andrew or anybody else that might be implicated
28:08i do commend the king you're going up against your own brother but the reality is this could either
28:14be a huge stain or you can use this as a moment to actually affect real change virginia's legacy will
28:23be a warrior for survivors i think in so many ways it already is and one of the things that
28:30she used to
28:31say was if i could endure all this pain and just come forward for one girl and it changes one
28:42girl's life
28:45it's all worth it
29:09thanks be adding
