00:00PEGI 3
00:32I think overall, it's immersion. You really feel like you're there and part of it in a way that you
00:33can do it.
00:33I think that's what we've really been going for this year is emotional realism.
00:38From a sports game, you know, a lot of times the constraints has been how real does that person emote
00:44or react to stuff.
00:46We really couldn't achieve those things. I think NextGen allows us to achieve all of those little small things that
00:52we really had wanted to do before.
00:54I think overall, it's immersion. You really feel like you're there and part of it in a way.
01:00that hasn't been possible before.
01:02The NextGeneration system sets the bar for the expectation of the user.
01:06You have to deliver a completely different experience for that incoming console because that's what people are really going to
01:12measure you on.
01:13Hey, you know what? That looks phenomenal. That felt great. That is so different than what they did before.
01:20Now I'm ready to buy this. And for us internally, trying to hit that bar, you know, it can be
01:25a little bit stressful,
01:25but at the same time, it's exciting. That's why we got into this industry.
01:30I'm ready. The first one we're going to do is, like, you should be able to access this one.
01:34You just won the championship, you know, sort of like a...
01:40That was perfect. Yeah, that was great.
01:41The concept behind Ecomotion is to create one single system that drives everything within our game.
01:48It's all NextGen and it's all characterized by specific attention to detail. It's a new engine for us.
02:04It's an attention to detail, whether it's the smallest piece on a desk at the scores table, to the lights
02:14and the arenas and how they actually shine.
02:17It's attention to detail, to materials. You know, how does a jersey react? It's attention to, you know, facial expressions
02:25that are human.
02:33When I got into making games, I always wanted a game that captured, you know, basically what I'm once seen
02:38on TV on any given night watching NBA basketball.
02:41And that's where, with the PS4, that's starting to become a reality.
02:44And to be able to start to reimagine all of our features in this new system, this new Ecomotion engine,
02:49was just adding a new foundation to everything we do.
02:53The word itself in Ecos was all about life. And so we're really trying to bring life into our game,
02:58just breathe new life into our game.
03:01For us, on the gameplay side at least, what that really means is making sure that these guys think, that
03:06they behave, that they act like they do in real life.
03:08They can respond to things and the way they emote on the court, it was huge.
03:12People have been trying to do facial expressions for a really long time, but to look at LeBron and see
03:17him animate and look exactly like LeBron does in real life, that's what this whole thing is.
03:24One of the main things that you're going to see right away and feel right away is foot planting.
03:27And footwork is everything in basketball, you know, you have to have good footwork.
03:30You know, it's all about setting your opponent up, getting him just to shift a little bit, and then taking
03:34advantage of that opening that he's giving you.
03:36The animation synthesis system that we have in there, every animation can be altered and changed to reflect what's happening
03:44within the game.
03:46Just the way the ball interacts with the player and the floor, when you're bouncing off the floor and the
03:50friction of the ball causes it to spin, it'll hit the hand and keep spinning.
03:53There's little things like that that just add that level of detail.
03:56And it's one of those things where, you know, when you look at kind of the old version and you
04:00compare it to the new, that thing really keeps you immersed in the experience.
04:09NBA 2K14 on the PlayStation 4 is a fundamentally new experience.
04:13And whether you're a basketball fan or not, it's an experience that I think all gamers are going to want
04:17to have.
04:19PlayStation 4 will certainly allow people to experience the way I think developers intended people to experience basketball games.
04:29The interactions, all the camera work, all the presentation, it really serves to take the player, take the gamer, and
04:35put them right into the game.
04:37And there are so many elements that just kind of keep driving that point home.
04:42For us to be able to start over fresh and to say that we've got this new Ecomotion engine that
04:46can drive so many different things.
04:48It's our rendering, it's our AI, it's our animations, it's everything.
04:52Being able to immerse ourselves in a new world, that's what's exciting for us this year.
04:57We expect the graphics on any next-gen system game to be spectacular.
05:03But more so than anything else, I think this year the first thing that hits them about our game is
05:08that they feel alive.
05:21And I'm going to play with it for you.
05:21If we've got to play with it.
05:22Grazie a tutti
