00:22You write these characters
00:23and you have an idea
00:25in your head of who this character
00:27is and then when you
00:29start seeing actors bringing something
00:31to that character
00:33it starts to open up your eyes and thinking
00:34actually I wasn't expecting it to be that character
00:37but that really works
00:39Everyone is like in awe
00:41of the principal talent
00:43and the performances that Tom Keegan
00:46got out of them
00:46When you bring together a team of people who are really
00:49committed to the story and the
00:51characterization, the actors
00:53feel it and we're really fortunate
00:55to find fantastic people to fit those roles
01:10We have the assets set in place
01:12We want the option to go mobile if we have to
01:14My favorite character is Sinclair
01:16who's played by David Harewood
01:18When I watched the first read through
01:20I instantly knew like this is
01:22gonna be a great story
01:23The moment he kind of opened his mouth and
01:25started reading kind of Sinclair's lines you go
01:27So yeah, that's him
01:28Damn it, you're too important to this operation
01:32Nah, you're too important to me
01:34I almost call him the hero of the piece
01:36He loves Vector
01:38He's a soldier
01:39He's been fighting for Vector since he was a boy
01:42On one hand he's caring for you
01:43On the other hand he has this kind of
01:45almost brutal motivations
01:47where he said the only way we can ever be safe
01:49is by eradicating our enemy
01:51He makes you want to fight for him
01:53And you start to see
01:55that he may not be the good guy
01:57that you think he is
01:58He has seen the worst of his enemy
02:01And now that they are here on our planet
02:03with just a wall between us
02:05He feels almost kind of violated
02:07And that's something that initially
02:09you can kind of relate to
02:11But then you meet these other characters
02:13and they kind of hold up a mirror
02:14to what it is that you're doing
02:17And of course the key character in that
02:19is Echo
02:20She's sort of an outsider
02:22Her mother is Helgas
02:24and her father was Vectin
02:25so she is a half-breed
02:27Because of the background she has
02:29the family she comes from
02:31you can see that she's also going through
02:33a change in how she views the world
02:35She's not caught up with allegiances
02:37that doesn't really matter with her
02:39she does crave companionship
02:40but she's never really had it
02:42so she's completely comfortable
02:43standing on her own
02:44and standing up for what she believes in
02:46even if that means she's doing so by herself
02:49she again represents the crossover
02:52that we're trying to do
02:53so Vectin's good
02:55Helgoth's bad
02:56there's a middle ground
02:57Both sides help to destroy this planet
02:59We cannot let the same thing happen to Vectin
03:02To add to that mix to really kind of stir the pot
03:05we have kind of this crazy element of Tyrion
03:08who is completely out of control
03:10and who's a person who just seizes the moment
03:13He's hell-bent on revenge
03:15He wants to crush skulls
03:17He wants to look in the souls of people's eyes
03:19as they die
03:21and that makes him feel alive
03:24When Crispian walked in and he did his piece
03:27we're kind of going
03:28I want to get out of here
03:29because he's genuinely
03:31he's crazy
03:33he's just way too scary
03:34You've got to get some pain behind it
03:36behind this intense anger
03:39When you look at Tyrion
03:40you're not just
03:41oh my god kill him
03:42he's really terrible guy
03:44No, that you really understand
03:46these people's pain
03:48You can understand kind of these people's motivations
03:50but the only thing you have to figure out is
03:52what is the best way to actually deal with
03:54that problem of protecting your home
03:56Video games in the past
03:58haven't always had that kind of depth
04:00and that richness for an actor
04:02and so it's been really a joy
04:04to kind of bring this whole team together
04:06and really explore this story
04:08It may deviate from kind of the mental image that you had
04:11but at the same time
04:13it's far more interesting to see it portrayed in that light
04:16These new consoles, the new game engines
04:19the facial capture
04:20allow the story to be told so much more
04:23through the eyes of the characters
04:25and the voices and the performances
04:27it's a tremendous new opportunity
04:30to see it
04:41and to see it
04:43in the next video
