00:04My name is Adil Shah. I'm an Imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community. I also serve as a town and
00:09district
00:09councillor in East Hampshire. We are celebrating Eid today. This marks the end of Ramadan.
00:15Eid, here you'll see people celebrating, meeting each other, greeting each other, greeting peace upon each other,
00:21to each other. It marks happiness, community, friendship, getting together, celebrating this festive
00:29period together, but also looking after Muslims around the world who might not have as much as we
00:34do in the Western world, and making sure they have enough sustenance, clothes, food to celebrate and
00:41partake in these celebrations as well. Sadly, we've seen sentiments across the world, unrest across
00:47the world, which have had an effect inadvertently to the Muslim world. We're optimistic. That's why
00:53you'll see everyone here smiling. Even his holiness in his sermon asked us to pray for world peace,
01:00to pray for cohesion across the world, to pray for a better world that we can bring our children up
01:07in.
01:07And it's had an effect to us, Muslims across the world, especially here in the UK as well.
01:13We've had certain sentiments of certain representatives of the country remarking things towards Muslims
01:20that aren't positive. But this is what Islam is about. Islam means peace. Everything that we do is about
01:26community cohesion. It's about looking after our neighbours, irrespective of whether they're Muslims
01:31or not. And Eid is a celebration as well. Throughout Ramadan, we've had community, local communities all
01:37across wherever we've got mosques, to come and break fast with us, to come and have food with us, to
01:43come and have a coffee
01:43with us, to come and just know who Muslims are. And likewise, we learn from their experiences, from who
01:50they are as well. And it's all about bridging or building bridges and having those cohesive discussions
01:57and community discussions. And that's been the summary of Ramadan. And we're concluding it with celebrating
02:02this festive, festive period, which is called Eve.
