A donga is a traditional small wooden boat, commonly used in rural and riverine areas of Bangladesh. It is usually made by hollowing out a single large tree trunk, giving it a narrow, curved shape that moves easily through shallow water. The making process starts with selecting a strong log, then carving and shaping it using simple tools. After hollowing, the outer body is smoothed and sometimes slightly widened using heat and pressure. Dongas are lightweight, easy to maneuver, and widely used for fishing, transport, and daily activities in canals and rivers.
