01:31One of the other important things the first time you step into the game is you notice from the cockpit
01:35of this giant walking war machine.
01:37You've got your cockpit readouts on the panels, you've got your HUD showing you extra information, and you move the
01:46mech, not yourself.
01:48So one of the primary controls for your battle mech is your throttle.
01:51This sets how fast your battle mech is trying to move.
01:53In most first person shooters, your W and S keys will make you move forward and back, but in MechWarrior
01:59your W and S keys on a keyboard will increase or decrease your throttle.
02:03Your throttle, when set to a certain point, causes you to move at a certain speed.
02:07So in piloting a battle mech, you can't stop right away. Your mech has momentum and speed and throttle.
02:12What you can do is you can zero your throttle immediately to start slowing yourself down and then go on
02:18to reverse from there.
02:21Turning your battle mech is also a little different.
02:23Your look does not control what direction you move.
02:26Instead, you use on a keyboard the A and D keys to turn your mech left and right.
02:37There's a couple of advanced pieces of functionality to your battle mech.
02:41You can hit the C key to send me your torso and regain your orientation at any time.
02:44And you can press the X key in order to zero your throttle to rapidly change your direction while playing
02:50the game.
02:52So the biggest difference for a traditional shooter is that your upper body and your lower body move separately.
02:58So you don't always move in the direction that you're looking for.
03:01It's kind of like piloting a giant walking tank.
03:08The one thing we're doing differently with MechWarrior Online that hasn't been done in any other MechWarrior games is the
03:13dual radical aiming system.
03:15What this allows you to do is aim your torso and your arms separately from each other.
03:19On the HUD, the circle indicates where your arms are aiming and the crosshairs indicate where your torso is aiming.
03:25The circle moves a lot faster than the crosshairs, letting you basically aim at things before your torso can actually
03:31turn to reach.
