00:13When it came time
00:13to redesign Mecwarrior
00:16or to be the
00:18first Mecwarrior title in a decade
00:19obviously that caused a lot of discussion
00:21about what made past
00:24Mecwarrior games fun
00:25and exciting for fans
00:37We came up with four main design pillars
00:40First off, we have
00:41Mecwarfare and that's really what it sounds like
00:44It's about everything to do
00:46with the combat
00:47of being in the cockpit
00:49battling other mechs
00:54That experience
00:55is played out for the player and how we can
00:57advance that with today's technology
00:59and how we can really immerse the player
01:01like they've never been immersed before
01:14Next we have information warfare
01:16This is also a big thing
01:18In the past Mecwarrior titles
01:19there was a lot of limitations when it came to
01:21targeting. If you wanted to target the enemy
01:24you just press the target enemy key
01:25and it doesn't matter how many hills or trees
01:28he's behind
01:29you get the little red box around him
01:31and it's always there
01:32you know where he is and when he's about to pop over the hill
01:34and you can attack him
01:36Well now all that's been removed
01:38I mean you need to have
01:40line of sight information or targeting information
01:43sent to you by your landsmates
01:44so all this is tied together
01:47now in such a way that
01:48you're going to need to have scouts
01:50you're going to need to be able to gather that information
01:52and it's going to create a whole other element
01:54on the battlefield than we haven't seen before
02:04Next is role warfare
02:06which to me is actually the single most important pillar we have
02:08Past Mechwarrior titles have really been
02:10about an arms race
02:12so it was you were in a smaller mech only
02:14as long as you had to be
02:16until you could afford to be in a bigger mech and a bigger mech
02:18but we have both with the new technology
02:20we're using and a lot of our design principles
02:22we finally have a product
02:24a Mechwarrior game where
02:26you can be a scout, you can be a small mech
02:28and you can be very effective on the battlefield
02:30and you're going to be needed
02:31your landsmates, your company you're involved in
02:34they're going to want to have skeleton
02:36small mechs so I think that's
02:38probably the single biggest innovation
02:39we bring to Mechwarrior
02:50and lastly we have community warfare
02:52and so of course in today's day and age
02:55we've got everyone connected to the internet
02:57and everything's about social communities
02:59it's online and that's really something
03:01that Mechwarrior has never had before
03:03very tiny small degrees that were created
03:05a lot of that was done after the fact
03:07after the products shipped
03:09by dedicated fans
03:11but now we're going to create a situation
03:13where people can actually form mercenary units
03:16they can align themselves
03:17to the great houses of the inner sphere
03:18and actually arrange with each other to do battle
03:21for possession of planets in the inner sphere
03:24so it's a way to get together
03:25join mercenary units
03:28talk about how you're going to do battle
03:30and really just come together as a community
03:32we'll be right back
03:35we'll be right back
03:39to the way
03:40all the you know
