00:00:00Grazie.
00:00:32Grazie.
00:00:32All right, mic's unmuted.
00:00:34So, hello everyone,
00:00:36and welcome to our
00:00:38slightly less live
00:00:40live hangout.
00:00:42For those of you joining us
00:00:43for the first time,
00:00:45I'm accompanied by
00:00:48this guy.
00:00:49My name is Jovis, I'm the project lead on Arma.
00:00:52And this guy.
00:00:53And I'm Cornel, I'm the brand and PR manager.
00:00:56And the guy in the back.
00:00:57Hello, I'm Vidka, and I'm
00:00:59in Coldly Creed.
00:01:01And of course.
00:01:03I'm Jankrow, I'm creative director on Arma 3.
00:01:06And I'm Thomas Ryan,
00:01:08mission designer on Arma 3
00:01:10and the host for this
00:01:11evening. So,
00:01:13yeah, I guess we can get started.
00:01:15But first... Well, maybe we start with an apology.
00:01:18We're sorry that
00:01:19the live stream isn't very
00:01:21live. We had some problems
00:01:23with our bandwidth. So, apologies
00:01:26to anyone that was waiting
00:01:28for us, that turned up on our Twitch channel.
00:01:30Yeah, sorry about that.
00:01:32We're gonna do this now
00:01:34and then upload it as soon as
00:01:36we can. And well, you're here
00:01:38now watching it, so something must have gone right.
00:01:40Yeah. Okay, so I guess
00:01:42we'll get started.
00:01:43And to begin with, what we'll be
00:01:45showing you guys is a
00:01:47sneak peek at
00:01:49that's one of the new
00:01:51showcases included in
00:01:53release, which is
00:01:55the NATO Faction
00:01:57Showcase. Yeah, what we're gonna do
00:01:59over the next hour or so is
00:02:01I'll be with you for
00:02:03around 20 minutes. We'll start with this
00:02:05Faction Showcase.
00:02:07We'll jump into a helicopter,
00:02:09take a bit of a tour of Altus itself,
00:02:11maybe stop at an interesting location
00:02:12and show you what it looks like.
00:02:14Mhm. Then I'll switch out,
00:02:16Yaris will come in, we'll look at
00:02:18a firing drill, we'll look at a quick mission
00:02:20that hopefully Zipper will put together.
00:02:22Hopefully. Hopefully.
00:02:24Showing some fixed-wing aircraft.
00:02:26And finally we'll finish off with
00:02:28Lord Petker, who will jump into a tank
00:02:30and show us some drones
00:02:32if we have time.
00:02:34Sounds good. So, where are we?
00:02:36Well, yeah, so here we are
00:02:38at the NATO
00:02:40Faction Showcase mission.
00:02:42Let's get started.
00:02:45Taking place on one of the
00:02:46airfields on Altus, in fact.
00:02:49Yeah, it's actually the main
00:02:50sort of airport, I guess. This is probably the biggest
00:02:53Yeah, definitely the biggest one.
00:02:55The biggest one.
00:02:56But there are multiple asterisks.
00:02:58I think there are at least five.
00:03:01Yeah, I think there's at least.
00:03:04So where do you think we should go to first?
00:03:07Well, we can see some
00:03:08tanks in the distance, I guess.
00:03:10The interesting thing about the
00:03:12Faction Showcases is each one
00:03:14there's one for NATO, CSAT, AAF.
00:03:16They all have some
00:03:18special presentation there.
00:03:20In NATO's case, it's a live fire
00:03:22exercise. You can actually hear them firing
00:03:24there in the background. I can't.
00:03:26Yeah, you can. I can.
00:03:28So should we head over there?
00:03:29If we head over there, we can take a look at
00:03:31the Slamaton and the artillery.
00:03:34So what we're gonna do here is we're gonna open up
00:03:36the strategic map. You guys might have seen this
00:03:37on the previous stream where we were
00:03:39zipping around Altus. But it's
00:03:41utilized here to switch between the various sections.
00:03:44But what we're gonna do now is go straight
00:03:46to the Expo event as Jim mentioned.
00:03:47So let's just go.
00:03:51Alright, here we are.
00:03:54Yeah, so I think everyone's looking
00:03:56forward to getting the big guns
00:03:58in release. So this is the
00:04:00artillery for NATO.
00:04:01It seems we have a bit of a bug
00:04:03right there. That empty screen is actually
00:04:05meant to show our PIP feed.
00:04:07Where's the PIP feed actually coming from?
00:04:11Right, yeah.
00:04:13But it seems...
00:04:14Obviously it's still work in progress
00:04:15so there are going to be still some bugs.
00:04:19But you can see you got a whole bunch
00:04:20of the new tanks here.
00:04:22So you have the M2A1 Slammer
00:04:23and you also have the
00:04:25Howitzer Variance M4 Scorcher.
00:04:29Actually firing downrange as well.
00:04:30So the idea of these
00:04:33simple showcase missions
00:04:34is to get all of the assets
00:04:36that are going to be for each faction
00:04:38and put them in one place.
00:04:40We know that people like to see
00:04:41everything together and maybe the first thing
00:04:43they do when they launch the game
00:04:45is to go and see what's in game.
00:04:47And this is sort of all prepared for you.
00:04:50It gives a really nice quick look
00:04:52at basically all the things for each faction.
00:04:56So moving right along.
00:04:58Where shall we go to next?
00:04:59Some of the area in the Expo maybe.
00:05:02Probably autonomous.
00:05:03Autonomous?
00:05:04Yeah, okay.
00:05:06So obviously we teased
00:05:08a few of the autonomous vehicles
00:05:10that we'll have in the beta launch trailer.
00:05:13So maybe we'll take a look
00:05:14at the data.
00:05:17UAV just on the table over there.
00:05:19Sure, so here's the
00:05:21quadrotor data.
00:05:23So there's a few
00:05:25different kinds of
00:05:27UAVs and UGVs in Army 3.
00:05:29This is one that you can
00:05:31disassemble, pack up into a backpack
00:05:32take with you and deploy
00:05:34on the infantry level.
00:05:36If we turn around we can see the
00:05:38slightly larger ones.
00:05:39So there's the Greyhawk which the
00:05:41announcer was talking about just a second ago.
00:05:44And he's talking about now.
00:05:46So yeah, as you go around the Expo
00:05:48you will get these pieces of exposition
00:05:50from the announcers, correct?
00:05:51Yeah, we presented that.
00:05:53And they'll basically tell you all about the
00:05:55different stuff that you're looking at.
00:05:57And these ones are the
00:05:58both armed and unarmed vehicles.
00:06:02So which do you think we should show off?
00:06:04The one with the guns.
00:06:05Okay, yeah. That sounds like a good idea.
00:06:08So yeah.
00:06:09Let's try connecting to him.
00:06:13Alright, so you can see here
00:06:14we have various different options.
00:06:17You can open our UAV terminal,
00:06:19disconnect from the unit
00:06:20but you can also take direct control.
00:06:22So I guess what we'll do right now
00:06:23is take direct control of them
00:06:25and drive them around a little bit.
00:06:26Maybe if we have time later.
00:06:28My favorite is the data.
00:06:29So we'll get Petcom maybe to set that up
00:06:32at the end if we have time.
00:06:33Yeah, that sounds incredible.
00:06:34We should probably make time as a sorry for
00:06:37for the less than life stream.
00:06:41You can see I'm actually manually
00:06:43controlling the Stomper now.
00:06:45You can swap between first and
00:06:47third person perspectives as for usual.
00:06:49Depending on the difficulty.
00:06:52Yeah.
00:06:52Just drive around the Expo a little bit.
00:06:54and of course at any time you can also swap
00:06:56to the turret itself.
00:06:58Which maybe we'll do right now
00:06:59and fire off a couple rounds I think.
00:07:01Just for some fun.
00:07:03So yeah.
00:07:04He's armed with the usual loadout.
00:07:06So you've got your machine gun.
00:07:08I'll switch to there.
00:07:10So the machine gun.
00:07:12And also the high-fire grenade launcher.
00:07:16I think you are probably hearing
00:07:17if he's built the internal
00:07:18and hearing the new filtering for the vehicles.
00:07:20That's true.
00:07:21Yeah.
00:07:21We improved a version of that this week
00:07:26on Wednesday or Thursday.
00:07:29Still got some more tweaks to do.
00:07:31But yeah.
00:07:32You can notice a very significant difference
00:07:34in how the gunshots sound when you're inside.
00:07:38Like from the perspective of the crew shall we say.
00:07:42And also the external sounds are
00:07:45as a perspective for anyone around it.
00:07:47unlucky enough to be around it.
00:07:51All right.
00:07:52Well.
00:07:52Let's keep moving.
00:07:53Yeah.
00:07:53Shall we keep driving with this guy
00:07:56or shall we move on to something else?
00:07:59Let's make our way somewhere else I think.
00:08:01For sure.
00:08:02It's definitely a lot of fun to drive.
00:08:04For sure.
00:08:05UAVs generally we're really looking forward to
00:08:07putting them into the game.
00:08:09Because they offer a different way of playing missions.
00:08:12They definitely mix things up a bit.
00:08:14I mean obviously this is an armed one
00:08:15so it seems a bit like a blunt weapon.
00:08:18But the small quadricopter
00:08:19use more for scouting than the infantry levels
00:08:22so you can get up and see the lay of the land.
00:08:24and a little cool effect as you can see me right there.
00:08:27Just waiting around while I'm controlling my vehicle.
00:08:31Of course they are also autonomous
00:08:32so they will work on their own.
00:08:35We're just showing right now the manual control.
00:08:37As you found when you were making the showcase
00:08:40Yeah.
00:08:40Yeah.
00:08:41Exactly.
00:08:41All right.
00:08:42So let's release control of the guy.
00:08:44That's as simple as it is to come back to your player unit.
00:08:47So what do you think we should move on to?
00:08:50The helicopter.
00:08:52Sure.
00:08:53Yeah.
00:08:53Let's take a little bit of a helicopter flight.
00:08:55I don't think we really need to use the strategic map here.
00:08:58We can just walk on over.
00:08:59But maybe we had a couple of questions on the forum.
00:09:02It's a good time to mention that
00:09:04we hope to deploy our drones to the dev branch next week.
00:09:09Barring any problems which may pop up.
00:09:11We hope to get those in your hands late next week.
00:09:15Obviously we'll keep you up to date with what's going on.
00:09:18Definitely.
00:09:18Usual social channels.
00:09:21Yeah.
00:09:22So I guess we'll take the ghost talk out for a spin.
00:09:25Yeah.
00:09:26So what we'd like to do maybe is show you a bit of Altus.
00:09:32There's a lot of it to show.
00:09:34So there's no way we're going to get around much of it.
00:09:37But I think if we take off and head along the coast,
00:09:41we'll be able to see a couple of interesting places.
00:09:45Some different things.
00:09:46And if we land then we can sort of get this feeling that
00:09:49although the environment is pretty enormous,
00:09:52it also has a lot of richness in detail.
00:09:54Definitely.
00:09:55I'm still surprised all the time coming across new stuff
00:09:57that I've never seen before.
00:09:58Just by placing myself randomly on the map.
00:10:00Yeah.
00:10:01Exactly.
00:10:02So you can see here these awfully imposing towers,
00:10:06which represents one of the many solar farms on Altus.
00:10:13I'm going to swap here to free look and have a look as we fly by.
00:10:19Our map designers want us to be a little cautious about what we show
00:10:24because they want to sort of be a surprise for people when they get Altus in their hands.
00:10:29There's definitely an element of exploration in Altus itself.
00:10:33But there are so many little places that we can see just from here
00:10:38that it's fun to get on the ground and go and explore them
00:10:41and see them from a different point of view.
00:10:43So where should we head to next?
00:10:44Maybe swing around these research domes.
00:10:48Sure.
00:10:48And then head down to the new capital.
00:10:51I think so, yeah.
00:10:53So yeah, our final destination will be the capital of Altus,
00:10:56which is quite impressive when you get close enough.
00:10:59I just can't pronounce the name.
00:11:00Yeah, here it goes.
00:11:02A nice little research base right there with the research domes.
00:11:09Alright, so let's floor it to Peridos.
00:11:15I'll be a little bit dangerous here and open the map just to make sure I'm going in the wrong
00:11:20direction.
00:11:20You are going completely but on your direction.
00:11:21I think I am going completely.
00:11:22You're going exactly the wrong direction.
00:11:23I am going exactly the wrong direction.
00:11:26You're going exactly the wrong direction.
00:11:27Good thing this isn't live.
00:11:28Yeah, good thing it's not live.
00:11:30We'll just cut that part out.
00:11:33I had this feeling in my head, you know.
00:11:36I mean, I didn't want to make it too long.
00:11:38Yeah, yeah.
00:11:38No, I do that for myself.
00:11:41It's fine.
00:11:42Alright.
00:11:43Still not going the right direction.
00:11:45We're giving you a bigger sense of the different kind of terrain.
00:11:48Oh yeah.
00:11:49Yes.
00:11:49It was all planned.
00:11:51All of it was planned.
00:11:52Alright.
00:11:52But I think it is worth mentioning just how very different Altus is compared to Stratus.
00:11:57I mean, Stratus was really cool when it came out of New Altus.
00:12:01I mean, it's still giving people a lot of fun.
00:12:05Oh yeah.
00:12:05So I think when Altus opens up, people will see really what the differences are.
00:12:10Exactly.
00:12:11The sheer amount of possibilities and such.
00:12:13And the terrain on Altus is very varied.
00:12:16So we've just flown over some very flat areas, very open for tank commanding and that
00:12:22sort of engagement.
00:12:23And a couple more military-esque installations and such.
00:12:26Yeah.
00:12:27Which, again, we'll be able to see when Petka joins us on the stream later.
00:12:31But there are very different parts, like if we went to the northeast, much more urban
00:12:36mountains in this kind of area.
00:12:38And then when we go down to the capital here, much more urban buildings.
00:12:42Yeah.
00:12:42But all at a very respectable level of detail.
00:12:46And our map designers have really poured their hearts into this terrain.
00:12:49Definitely.
00:12:49And I think you can really see the results.
00:12:51It really shows, yeah, for sure.
00:12:52So here we are approaching the capital of Altus, called Pyrgos.
00:12:58You can see, again, we still have the sort of military installations, but we also have
00:13:02it sort of the nice complement of the highly populated civilian settlement right here.
00:13:11So I will just join in for a moment.
00:13:15On the forums, we asked the people if they had some questions for us to answer.
00:13:19Of course.
00:13:20Sure.
00:13:21First of all, thanks everyone for submitting the questions.
00:13:24And, well, some of them we can answer right now, some of them will be answered later.
00:13:29But as we are flying over Altus right now, I think one of the most recurring questions
00:13:35was whether Altus will be on that branch before release.
00:13:41Yes.
00:13:41The answer is yes.
00:13:43Yes.
00:13:44I think it would be stupid not to.
00:13:46I mean, it's an absolutely enormous place.
00:13:48Although, all we've been basically doing for the last few months is testing it and going
00:13:53through all of the areas.
00:13:54Just to get it out there, you know, a little bit before launch would be very useful.
00:14:00We'd be looking maybe sometime around Gamescom to get this into the branch player's hands.
00:14:05of course, it's not just in terms of testing this ability, but it will enable people to
00:14:11start making missions and moving across their mods from Stratus onto Altus so that
00:14:17when the game launches, there will already be a whole bunch of content prepared for it.
00:14:21So, yeah, it's definitely in our interest and in the player's interest for us to get
00:14:26it out there.
00:14:26Yeah, I would agree for sure.
00:14:28So every now and then I will just pop in and ask some of the questions.
00:14:31But right now I will let you go chat with the presentation.
00:14:36Or maybe if we jump back to where we're at the capital, we'll be live and take a look
00:14:40at some of the details around it.
00:14:42Yeah, why not?
00:14:43I think there's a really interesting, you know, in every area there are lots of sort
00:14:49of little pieces of interest that the map designers would go a bit more crazy on.
00:14:55Is there any specific one we should take a look at?
00:14:57There's a nice sort of little graveyard kind of place just beside the capital.
00:15:01I mean, these military areas...
00:15:02You're going to have to guide me to it.
00:15:06Yeah, this is when you should be the one piloting.
00:15:09Well, I am the most part of the piloting.
00:15:11It's just over there.
00:15:12Is that it?
00:15:12Yeah, that's it right there.
00:15:13Okay, so I'll do a little bit of a spin around here and take this down.
00:15:23So, one of the things that we're really excited about, and particularly our environment designers
00:15:28are very excited about, is these little places that you can go and explore.
00:15:31I mean, obviously, armor is a military game, and we're here to fight battles.
00:15:36But another part of our game, one of the strengths that's always been a part of the armor series
00:15:41is the terrains.
00:15:43And just putting yourself in the map or having that kind of mission, which is a little longer,
00:15:47you come across these places and they just take you by surprise and they have their own character.
00:15:53I think that's a really important part of the game.
00:15:56And Altus is probably one of the best examples we've had of it.
00:16:01I mean, Chernerus has been my favorite map for the longest time.
00:16:07And it's still nice to go back to it from Altus because it's so lush and green.
00:16:10Whereas Altus has a little bit more of a dry Mediterranean flavor.
00:16:13But just in terms of the sheer amount of details, I must have only been to 25% of these
00:16:21points of interest.
00:16:23Us as developers are still finding new cool stuff all the time.
00:16:26Yeah, I definitely should have landed over here.
00:16:28It would have been much faster.
00:16:29Congratulations.
00:16:30But yeah, here's the rather nice looking...
00:16:34I think we call it the Allied War Cemetery.
00:16:36This is like a World War I monument.
00:16:40And on the other side of the wall is more of a traditional sort of...
00:16:43Just over there, I think.
00:16:46But it really gives you a sense of just like these areas that you can find just by placing yourself
00:16:50on Altus and going for a...
00:16:52Yeah, we wanted to land because, you know, you see the Altus from the air and it's very big and
00:16:58very exciting.
00:17:00But really getting on the ground, it feels a bit smaller, but the richness I think is there for Altus
00:17:07to see.
00:17:08For sure.
00:17:09And it drives home the fact that you can go anywhere, do anything pretty much.
00:17:13You go from the ground to a helicopter, back to the ground.
00:17:16I think it was just on Friday we decided this would be a good place to show off because it's
00:17:21playing around with time of day.
00:17:22And it's one of those situations where you put yourself on the map, you find it, you change it to
00:17:26a certain time of day, and suddenly you know somehow there has to be a mission.
00:17:30Just has to be.
00:17:31It's definitely one of those things.
00:17:33Yeah, a bit of fog, a bit of sunrise or sunset, and suddenly this place is very atmospheric and it's
00:17:39just crying out for a mission to be made.
00:17:40Yeah, you're going from sort of the romantic sunset as we have right now, you can go to the really
00:17:45creepy dense fog and that kind of stuff.
00:17:48Create multiple different scenarios.
00:17:49Cool.
00:17:50All right, well.
00:17:51So, I don't know if we want to move on.
00:17:54Yeah, I guess.
00:17:56Is it time for something else?
00:18:00Yeah.
00:18:00Well, I think maybe if we jump back into the main menu, we can look at Yaris across and take
00:18:08a look at some of his firing girls.
00:18:10Some of the firing girls, sure, why not?
00:18:12All right, so let's get Yaris in here once it heads back to the main menu.
00:18:19Of course, this livestream is about the launch content we've got, and the firing girls are part of that.
00:18:25And we're extending, there are three currently, four, sorry, four in the beta at the moment, and we'll be extending
00:18:32that to a total of ten.
00:18:34So, I think we'll probably play one of the new ones, which has, you know, it's based in one of
00:18:38the castle ruins.
00:18:39I mean, armor games always have to have castle ruins, and it's sort of our thing.
00:18:42So, we went ahead and put, I think Red 3 is in a really cool castle.
00:18:47So, you can see here we have a whole bunch of these added, but here we go, Red 3.
00:18:53All right, and is it time for Yaris's time?
00:18:56I will vacate this ball, which I'm saying.
00:19:03It's a gym ball, by the way. It's not something else.
00:19:06All right.
00:19:07All right, welcome.
00:19:08Hello, Thomas.
00:19:09Hello, everyone.
00:19:11Well, here we are on...
00:19:13So, yeah, this is one of the newer release firing girls that we have.
00:19:17I guess we'll just go trainings.
00:19:18We go trainings.
00:19:19You're still a little bit new to this.
00:19:20Because I'm a little bit of a noob to this course.
00:19:22I'll have my coffee.
00:19:23Ah, Jay left his coffee.
00:19:27So, we'll just do a quick run through of this, I guess.
00:19:29Yeah, exactly.
00:19:29This one is quite lengthy.
00:19:32There's quite a lot of different things going on.
00:19:35And as we approach this first checkpoint, you can see there's added target variety as
00:19:40well.
00:19:41See if I can hit it?
00:19:42Yeah.
00:19:42Ah, nope.
00:19:43Those are quite challenging to hit, actually.
00:19:45Little bits of skeet.
00:19:47Shut up.
00:19:48The point is, these are bonus targets.
00:19:50And you don't have to hit them to complete the course.
00:19:53But if you do, you get a bit of time taken from your final time.
00:19:58So, it's a bit of a tradeoff between accuracy and taking the time to aim for these.
00:20:03I'm doing okay here.
00:20:05But then there's also these targets, right?
00:20:06These are also bonus targets.
00:20:07So, you can choose to skip them.
00:20:09But they're quite satisfying the way that they...
00:20:11The nice little particle effect there.
00:20:13Alright.
00:20:14I think I...
00:20:14Did I get all of them?
00:20:15I did get all of them.
00:20:16I think you cleared those.
00:20:18I'll reload here.
00:20:19So, we're moving to the battlements and there should be a whole bunch of static targets
00:20:24invading the castle.
00:20:25Trying to.
00:20:28I missed one, apparently.
00:20:33I missed two.
00:20:34That's fine.
00:20:35I'm still learning.
00:20:44You can actually sometimes get a better time if you do miss the target.
00:20:49It's all about time management.
00:20:51Exactly.
00:20:52It's just planning the way that you go through these things.
00:20:55And it might in the end be beneficial to just move on and not waste time looking for
00:20:59a target.
00:21:00I guess it's the trade-off between the points you want and the time you want.
00:21:03Kind of.
00:21:04You have to manage both.
00:21:05Exactly.
00:21:05It's all about not the roll time at finish but the final time when you take into account
00:21:09bonuses and penalties.
00:21:11So, you see as well the steel plate targets which a lot of competitive shooters will know
00:21:16from their ranges of drills.
00:21:20Here as well these targets.
00:21:21A couple more bonus targets but didn't hit either of those.
00:21:24I think I'll just move on.
00:21:25Even just one will take...
00:21:27It depends on which type of target but it might take like half a second of your time.
00:21:31I'm going to pass that off as me just managing my time.
00:21:34Exactly.
00:21:35It's all scale.
00:21:36Yeah.
00:21:39Another little detail that we've added now to these final drills is all these sponsor signs.
00:21:45So, these are Armaverse sponsors.
00:21:47Some of the names you might recognize if you've been with us for a while.
00:21:50A little bit of a nod to previous projects.
00:21:52Exactly.
00:21:52Like the PMC DLC.
00:21:53Yeah.
00:21:56I think there's even a couple name drops from Take On Helicopters as well.
00:21:59There is, yes.
00:22:01There are two more.
00:22:02I can't see them.
00:22:03I'm moving on.
00:22:06But yeah, you can see in the top left there I'm checking the number of targets I have remaining.
00:22:11That is one way of doing it.
00:22:12The other way that's been added recently is you can go to the map and you can see on the
00:22:16map where there is targets.
00:22:17Of course it takes time.
00:22:18Is that there in competitive mode as well?
00:22:21Or just training?
00:22:22It is.
00:22:23They're currently also in competitive mode.
00:22:24The difference is when they are revealed to you.
00:22:26It might be that on training you see them always and on competitive you only see them
00:22:30when you're in the checkpoint.
00:22:31Right.
00:22:32Okay.
00:22:33So this is a bit more long range.
00:22:35Yep.
00:22:36And there's one more.
00:22:37Can't see them.
00:22:38Move on.
00:22:38Move on.
00:22:39Yeah.
00:22:39Reload again.
00:22:43I'm a bit fatigued.
00:22:44I guess that's another thing you have to be careful.
00:22:46Balancing reloads, like your fatigue with sprinting and all that, that all affects...
00:22:51It can take seconds different.
00:22:55Yeah, this checkpoint you can be moving actually while shooting.
00:22:59So it's good to move towards your final checkpoint while you're taking enemies targets.
00:23:03Yeah, that actually made me feel like a pro for once.
00:23:08What we have here when we switch to your pistol, these are actually, that's another new feature,
00:23:13is the accuracy bonuses.
00:23:15So some of these targets, they have accuracy zones for example on their torso or their head.
00:23:19And again, if you take the time to aim for that, then you might get a bonus for it.
00:23:25Or you can just go for a plain hit.
00:23:28Definitely.
00:23:29Yeah, I'm having a problem here.
00:23:31Yeah, here's the hint just in the nick of time.
00:23:34About fatigue.
00:23:35Yeah, I can't sprint so of course I need to be managing my fatigue better throughout the course
00:23:40because this is obviously going to have a negative impact on my final time.
00:23:43And then we are approaching now the final checkpoint which is quite crowded as well.
00:23:47He says final so I'm going to reload.
00:23:49Yes, and there's a little bit of a statue there and a lot of no-shoot targets around it.
00:23:54So make sure to miss things.
00:23:55Not shoot them.
00:23:56Exactly.
00:23:59And again, if you wanted to you could be doing some of this on the move, approaching the finish.
00:24:03That's true.
00:24:04I'm not confident enough in myself.
00:24:07That's fine, you'll learn.
00:24:08Ah, I can sprint fine.
00:24:09So this is the sprint to the finish.
00:24:11Exactly.
00:24:14And there we go.
00:24:15Course is clear.
00:24:16So yeah, you see in the overview that you have no metal time.
00:24:21No metal whatsoever.
00:24:22But you can see it also.
00:24:23Give it a couple of guys in and you'll be fine.
00:24:25It records your times, it says your final best previous.
00:24:29If you go to the map now as well, you can see like if you zoom in, you can sort
00:24:32of do an after action review.
00:24:33You see which checkpoints, which targets you missed, which you hit.
00:24:36I think I missed a couple over here.
00:24:38Did I?
00:24:38Yeah, you see the little axis.
00:24:40Oh yeah.
00:24:40Yeah, those you missed.
00:24:41Okay.
00:24:42And then I think I missed some further back here.
00:24:45But yeah, so you can get an idea for...
00:24:47A little bit of a feeling of what went right or what went wrong.
00:24:50Cool.
00:24:50Okay.
00:24:51Well yeah, it's definitely another...
00:24:52I guess we can move on.
00:24:53Yeah, yeah.
00:24:54It's definitely another unique, different aspect of Arma's gameplay introduced in 9.03.
00:24:59It's like, it's a more simple type of approach, but I think it's really enjoyable to just train these and
00:25:06then run through them and get better and better.
00:25:08You get into this flow of running, making the perfect run.
00:25:11Yeah.
00:25:12It's quite satisfying.
00:25:13Yeah, it becomes a...
00:25:14Yeah, you want to perfect your routine, basically.
00:25:16Alright, so should we get another person in here?
00:25:19Actually, we were still gonna do your...
00:25:22Right.
00:25:22Yeah.
00:25:23So let's go to that.
00:25:25So, yeah, let's exit out of here, head back to the main menu.
00:25:28The final thing I'll say about these firing grills is that we'll have an added six for the release package.
00:25:36So there's two of each category.
00:25:38There's some that are more sniper based and long range with zeroing and all that stuff.
00:25:44Yeah.
00:25:46Cool.
00:25:46So, one thing I guess a lot of people wanted to see is jets for Arma 3.
00:25:52So I think what we're gonna do here is quickly set up a simple mission.
00:25:55And those of you who tuned in for our previous live streams will know that one of them was sort
00:26:00of a mission-making tutorial.
00:26:01We'll sort of go through a lot of the similar things there.
00:26:04You can, of course, check out the previous live stream if you want a more in-depth thing.
00:26:08But I think what we're gonna just set up here is a very quick air-to-ground engagement involving our
00:26:16buzzard fighter jet.
00:26:18And while you're setting up, allow me to ask some of the questions remaining.
00:26:25We have quite a list this time.
00:26:27All right.
00:26:28Bring them on.
00:26:29So all of them are quite future-focused, I would say.
00:26:33And let's start with a question which we kind of merge.
00:26:37So I have a question from Baiku, NM Danny, Frank, HH, Dill, 0404, and Sari.
00:26:46Great name, man.
00:26:47And if we merge those questions, they were asking, will we keep working on issues that are reported to the
00:26:53feedback tracker?
00:26:55Will there still be big updates after alpha and beta?
00:26:59And will there still be a death branch and stable branch separately?
00:27:05I think the easiest answer to all of them is pretty much yes, definitely.
00:27:08We are continuing full support for a long time.
00:27:12So to target those questions one by one, the feedback tracker is not something we are shutting down just because
00:27:20we got out of beta.
00:27:21We're just leaving that active and we're still going to process those issues.
00:27:25More can be reported and we'll just deal with them.
00:27:30Death branch and stable branch, that will still remain to be active as it is.
00:27:35So we're going to be doing daily builds as we have been doing for alpha and beta.
00:27:39As well as quite regular, larger patches.
00:27:44Okay, and then...
00:27:45Did I miss one?
00:27:46No, that was all.
00:27:48And then another question from Shotgun Samus.
00:27:51I don't make up his name.
00:27:53Much easier to say.
00:27:54Great names.
00:27:55Do you already have plans for DLCs, like features or content or whatever?
00:28:02And do you have an idea when you will start releasing these?
00:28:06Well, our first focus...
00:28:08Well, now we are focused on the release.
00:28:10So that's our primary focus and we just...
00:28:13Everyone is hands on deck to do that.
00:28:15Then the rest of the year is all about the campaign episodes that we've been announcing last week.
00:28:22And then definitely there will be post-launch support, a whole lot of it.
00:28:27And a large part of the team working on that for a long time.
00:28:31So we definitely see it as not a single time event, the launch, but something that we're continuing to be
00:28:38working on.
00:28:39Okay.
00:28:41So, and then I have a question from Sammy G, which I will actually answer myself.
00:28:45He is asking how many weapons will be at launch...
00:28:48Will be available at launch?
00:28:51For this we actually have a webpage.
00:28:52It's armorfree.com slash launch hyphen countdown.
00:28:58And there, there is really a list of all the weapons, even the vehicles, and also an overview of all
00:29:05the content that we've had launched.
00:29:07So, you'll find all the information there.
00:29:11But then the question...
00:29:12Another post-release question is...
00:29:15Will the current dev team working on armorfree stay working on armorfree after release, or will they move to other
00:29:23projects?
00:29:24Well, so I sort of hinted at it already.
00:29:26Definitely the whole rest of this year, it's pretty much the entire team is going to be working on armorfree.
00:29:31And I would say that even for many months after that, it will be a large chunk of the team
00:29:36that is going to be just dedicated to armorfree as it continues to grow.
00:29:40So, there might be here and there, people who are assisting other projects, but overall we're going to be working
00:29:46on various types of support for armorfree, definitely.
00:29:49Okay.
00:29:50And then I think the last question, I hope Thomas is almost ready.
00:29:54Set it up.
00:29:55Yeah, he is almost done.
00:29:57Mission Ninja.
00:29:58Just take your time, take your time.
00:30:00So, it's the last question.
00:30:01It's about Steam Workshop, so that's actually pretty cool, because that is...
00:30:04That is pretty cool, yeah.
00:30:05It's coming quite soon.
00:30:08What I would quickly say about that is, it was already launched in Deathbranch last week, finally.
00:30:13And it was really cool to see that immediately people started booting missions there, single player, multiplayer.
00:30:19Penguin.
00:30:20Yeah, we saw an image of a penguin being used.
00:30:23They get raided, there's comments, and when you subscribe, you can get updates directly in the game.
00:30:28And it's just a really cool way of getting to new missions with it.
00:30:31And with the final beta patch coming quite soon, this will be included for everyone on the armorfree beta.
00:30:39Okay.
00:30:40So then the question from SirJD was if...
00:30:44Because right now you can share scenarios with Steam Workshop, and if you can also, in the future, share weapons,
00:30:52mods, basically mods in the future.
00:30:54So the missions, they were our most logical starting point to get to grips with the whole Steam Workshop technology
00:31:00and the way that it works, and to test it.
00:31:02But we see it as part of our roadmap to then expand it also to add-ons.
00:31:07It is the way where we need to be going.
00:31:09So we definitely plan to do that.
00:31:11Okay.
00:31:13So, well, thanks for these answers.
00:31:15I hope Thomas is almost ready to show off.
00:31:20I guess what I'll do is just out of what the hell I'm doing, because it's kind of rapid.
00:31:25So what I've already done Safari, for those paying attention, is I've given us a plane way over here.
00:31:32I've given us some tasks.
00:31:34First task, get into the plane itself.
00:31:37So you create the task.
00:31:39Set task state to assigned, to make it your current task when you start.
00:31:42And then given in a task destination, which is obviously the plane itself.
00:31:46Then you are tasked with going over here to destroy a stationary convoy.
00:31:51So you have, again, create tasks, task state, all that stuff.
00:31:55But now we're introducing sort of the synchronized issues with the modules.
00:31:59So there are conditions for when the task goes to a certain state.
00:32:04Right now I've set up that when the trucks are destroyed, which is right here, the task is set to
00:32:09succeeded.
00:32:10But once you get into the plane, it's assigned, so you have a waypoint to move to once you've gotten
00:32:15in the plane.
00:32:16The only thing left to do now is actually succeed the task when you get into the plane, which I
00:32:21accidentally forgot about at the start.
00:32:23But let's just do that quick.
00:32:25And the main cool thing about all of this is that you don't necessarily need to know the syntax or
00:32:30how the scripting language works, because this is much more visual.
00:32:33Definitely.
00:32:33So you can use these modules and visually-oriented make a mission and then eventually submit it to WordShift.
00:32:41Technically I could, yes.
00:32:44Yes.
00:32:44Will you?
00:32:45Yeah.
00:32:45It's a possibility.
00:32:48Alright.
00:32:48So we're going to use this trigger to synchronize both.
00:32:52So what the trigger is doing is, you can see, checking that I'm the pilot of the plane.
00:32:57Ah, that's one thing.
00:32:58I need to name the plane, plane1, because otherwise that won't work.
00:33:02But what that'll do is it'll fire both of those modules at the same time, and what that'll do is
00:33:07it'll set the task for getting into succeeded, and it will set the destroy task as assigned so I have
00:33:12a waypoint.
00:33:13And one quick thing I'll just say back on the topic of firing drills is that this whole visual approach
00:33:18of making missions is also going to be eventually applied to firing drills so everyone can make more of them.
00:33:24So I'm just going to save this as death from above, and maybe let's increase the cloud cover a little
00:33:33bit so we have something to fly through.
00:33:35I want a romantic sunset to fly in.
00:33:37Romantic sunset?
00:33:37Yeah, you got it.
00:33:38What direction west of the sun is going to be setting?
00:33:42So let's do...
00:33:431835.
00:33:441835, you said?
00:33:46Why not?
00:33:46No, I don't.
00:33:471835, 50% cloud cover.
00:33:50Sounds good.
00:33:51Save once more, and...
00:33:53If you get this right in one go, that'll be...
00:33:54That'll be a record, yes.
00:33:56Okay.
00:33:57So let's see.
00:33:58Hopefully no errors.
00:34:00I also like these little bit of trivia that we've added recently to both of the maps.
00:34:04Yeah, you might notice them.
00:34:05So while you're loading, you just get these tiny little facts about the various locations and settings.
00:34:09Alright, so far it's okay.
00:34:12Yeah, so get in the plane.
00:34:13Board the plane as pilot.
00:34:15Current task.
00:34:15Destroy the convoy.
00:34:17Stop convoy.
00:34:17Destroy.
00:34:18Okay.
00:34:19So when I get in here, it should succeed the task.
00:34:23So...
00:34:23Hopping in.
00:34:25Test succeeded.
00:34:27Oh my god!
00:34:29And...
00:34:30Yeah, it's assigned.
00:34:31Cool.
00:34:32Alright, so you can see just how easy it is to set that up.
00:34:34So let's turn on our engine, shall we?
00:34:39That does sound pretty cool.
00:34:41And you can again tell the difference between the interior and exterior sounds.
00:34:45You guys can.
00:34:46I can.
00:34:48What'd you say?
00:34:51Good.
00:34:52So I think we're all ready to go now.
00:34:57So let's get rolling.
00:34:58So this is more of an improvised airstrip rather than the one that we've seen before.
00:35:05This one is...
00:35:06Yeah.
00:35:07It's much more like just a darn runway set up and spare the moment kind of.
00:35:13Alright.
00:35:15Build up some airspeed.
00:35:17Pull back very lightly on the joystick.
00:35:22Uh, there's an obstacle.
00:35:24And...
00:35:25I think I am...
00:35:27I think I'm okay.
00:35:28You're almost stalling there.
00:35:29Yes.
00:35:30Just moved.
00:35:31He's a better mission designer.
00:35:32Alright, so we are airborne and there is our romantic sunset.
00:35:36Nice.
00:35:39You can see it nicely reflecting there off the water silence.
00:35:42Let's go a bit higher and maybe fly through the clouds a little bit.
00:35:46But yeah, you can really get an idea for the size of Altus from these planes.
00:35:53The only issue at the moment, obviously, is V-Distance.
00:35:56However, you can set V-Distance much higher than this.
00:35:59And the other issue is that you're talking rather loudly over the engine.
00:36:02I can't tell.
00:36:04My apologies.
00:36:06But yeah, it is a rather loud plane.
00:36:08So I'll just stay inside for now, I think.
00:36:10That's a better idea.
00:36:11Yeah.
00:36:14Uh, the clouds are a bit high.
00:36:15Should I still go higher?
00:36:16Probably not.
00:36:17No.
00:36:17I'll just go a bit lower.
00:36:21Sorry if I'm shouting again.
00:36:24That was deliberate.
00:36:28Not perhaps the safest thing to do.
00:36:33Alright, so we're approaching our Atari here.
00:36:36Swap to our air to ground this house.
00:36:39We could fly by.
00:36:40Okay, there's the convoys.
00:36:42Stop.
00:36:42That's the speed.
00:36:44So let's go internal view.
00:36:47Bring ourselves around so we can get a good attack vector on them.
00:36:53Try not to crash in there.
00:36:54Try not to crash.
00:36:55That might be a little easier said than that.
00:36:59Alright.
00:36:59Hard turn to the right.
00:37:03Let's see if I can get them locked.
00:37:09Got one.
00:37:12Pretend you're in top down.
00:37:14It's out of the way.
00:37:15Fox one.
00:37:18I think that was a hit.
00:37:20Yep.
00:37:21One down.
00:37:22Two to go.
00:37:23So your condition for the stars is to destroy all three of the trucks.
00:37:35So we'll try and get the second or third.
00:37:40Maybe worth mentioning this is the other really cool settlement on Ultra Street.
00:37:46The owned island capital.
00:37:49Yeah, this is the old capital of Altus called Cavala.
00:37:54You might remember we teased it a little bit at the end of the last stream.
00:37:59We're still not really going to show you it in lots of detail, but you can see just from the
00:38:04air here that it is rather massive.
00:38:08Yeah, I think it's much better for a lot of people just to be, when it finally hits that branch
00:38:13and the game itself, just go in and start exploring.
00:38:17So I just dropped two bombs and both missed.
00:38:21Well done.
00:38:21And that's probably violated so many international bombs.
00:38:28I only have one left.
00:38:30I wonder if I can hit him with my cannon.
00:38:33Probably cannot, so let's try and line it up here.
00:38:37Probably look a little bit constipated at the moment.
00:38:40My apologies.
00:38:43That's the moment I have to describe you.
00:38:45Where is he?
00:38:47I can't actually...
00:38:48Oh, it looks like he's actually taking it upon himself to run away.
00:38:51Seems like he sounds a little fancy.
00:38:55If I don't get him on this run, I think we'll just move on probably.
00:39:01Where is he?
00:39:02Where is he?
00:39:03Where is he?
00:39:03Where is he?
00:39:03Where is he?
00:39:04Where is he?
00:39:05I'm just firing...
00:39:05There he is.
00:39:06Okay.
00:39:08One more run?
00:39:09Because now I know where he is.
00:39:11Probably leaving.
00:39:12He's also trying to hide in between settlements and this one.
00:39:16Yeah, that's true.
00:39:17Obviously things are still working from us.
00:39:21But yeah, so a little bit of a demonstration of fixed wing aircraft for me.
00:39:27So, do you think we should head back to the airfield and land?
00:39:30Well, if you can do that, that would be a lot of nice.
00:39:33Oh yeah, yeah.
00:39:33Well, it will be a test of my fortitude, but we shall see.
00:39:36And then I guess we can move on for our next segment.
00:39:40That's true, yeah.
00:39:41But I guess we'll just make our way back.
00:39:44But yeah, so rather massive city back there.
00:39:50And we got two out of three.
00:39:51There's still entirely different types of area of the island as well.
00:39:56Yeah, let's see.
00:39:57Yeah.
00:39:58And we aren't on the show now, actually.
00:40:01As we said earlier, we'll also leave a lot for exploration.
00:40:04Yeah, there's a lot of potential for all sorts of different scenarios.
00:40:07I'm just joking.
00:40:08And let's not forget the underwater world as well.
00:40:13All of these bays, they have some pretty interesting areas.
00:40:17That's just sort of the new dimension that ARMA 3 introduces.
00:40:23All right, so I think we're coming up on the runway.
00:40:27I think I'm overshooting the runway.
00:40:32I think I'm actually lined up now, more or less.
00:40:37So let's put the gear down.
00:40:40I might want to go flaps as well.
00:40:41Yeah, let's put the flaps down too.
00:40:44Slowing down.
00:40:48Concentration phase.
00:40:49Game phase.
00:40:50That's what it should be, game phase.
00:40:53Crash phase.
00:40:53Oh, crash phase.
00:40:54We'll see in a second.
00:40:56Oh, I'm a little bit off.
00:40:58Can I get myself a line?
00:41:02That shouldn't be too hard.
00:41:07And...
00:41:07Touchdown.
00:41:08Not the smoothest landing I'm done.
00:41:10It wasn't too subtle, but it's so high though.
00:41:11Yeah.
00:41:12But I lined it.
00:41:12Now can I slow myself down in time?
00:41:14That's another...
00:41:16Oh, boy.
00:41:18Oh, it looks like...
00:41:20Well done.
00:41:21I'm going to call you tough.
00:41:22Yeah.
00:41:23Yeah.
00:41:23I wasn't expecting that to work.
00:41:25Maybe we can click the show, not actually publishing to Workshop, but if you exit out,
00:41:29we initially go back to the editor just to show the display and see how it works.
00:41:34Yeah, sure.
00:41:34So if I wanted to just go ahead and publish this straight to Workshop for everyone else
00:41:39to play, what would I do?
00:41:40Click that little button right here.
00:41:44And then we'll just walk quickly to some of the options that you have.
00:41:47You can give it a couple of tags to make it more easy to filter through in the Workshop
00:41:52what sort of scenario it is.
00:41:53Singleplayer, multiplayer, co-op, tanks, etc.
00:41:57Visibility controls who can see this mission on the Workshop.
00:42:01Might be that you just want to have it private for you to see only.
00:42:04Just your friends or everyone.
00:42:06Description, obviously a little text description.
00:42:08And then you can also select an image.
00:42:10One of the cool things about that is you can directly upload a screenshot that you've
00:42:14taken from the Steam client.
00:42:18So you don't have to edit something out of game.
00:42:20You can just select the image, upload it.
00:42:22Yeah, take the image, select it, upload it.
00:42:24Yeah, and then you basically go publish, done.
00:42:26And then everyone from in the game, they can just subscribe, download, and play.
00:42:31It's pretty cool.
00:42:32And I guess everyone has a certain storage limit.
00:42:34Yeah, it seems currently you have a gigabyte each.
00:42:37And of course, usual, do you agree with the license and all that kind of stuff.
00:42:40Then you just click publish.
00:42:41But the thing to say about that maybe is there were some concerns within the community about
00:42:46this license.
00:42:47And we definitely have worked with Valve to make a new version of it that I think is more
00:42:53agreeable for more people.
00:42:55And yeah, so that's been changed for us.
00:42:59Yeah.
00:43:00So yeah, cancel and then...
00:43:02Yeah, they don't want to publish this just yet.
00:43:03But maybe it will be in the future.
00:43:04Yep.
00:43:05Who knows.
00:43:06All right.
00:43:06So, moving on.
00:43:07So do you want to bring in the Lord of Encoding, Mr. Patka?
00:43:11Yeah, I think so.
00:43:12If he's ready for it.
00:43:13Are you ready?
00:43:14One second, he says.
00:43:16No, he's too busy trying the forums.
00:43:18Yeah.
00:43:19I should have stayed in my plane.
00:43:21I was having fun.
00:43:23Yeah, but I saw some people were not sure about the new task module system.
00:43:28So I think that's a great demonstration of how quick it is to link it up.
00:43:31Yeah.
00:43:32And even the text were done.
00:43:33Yeah.
00:43:33You didn't have to type anything.
00:43:35And before all of this, you needed to know the scripting language, all that kind of stuff.
00:43:38Now it's much more visual, much more easy for the basic user.
00:43:41Now it's just waiting to be localized into seven different languages.
00:43:44Yes, localization.
00:43:45And the important thing, as with everything, is these modules, we have our own in the library
00:43:49of the editor, but you can make your own and you can...
00:43:52Very true.
00:43:52Yeah.
00:43:53That's a really cool thing.
00:43:54Yeah, and everyone can contribute to making each other's lives easier, pretty much.
00:43:58Pretty much.
00:43:58Cool.
00:43:59So let's bring in Mr. Batka.
00:44:00Sounds like fun.
00:44:02See you guys later.
00:44:04Come have a seat, sir.
00:44:07Thanks a lot.
00:44:08Welcome.
00:44:09Hello again.
00:44:10And we are again sorry for the problems and the bandits.
00:44:14Batka, you're bouncing quite soon.
00:44:17I'm sorry.
00:44:19I'm the only one in a nice comfy chair.
00:44:21Okay, so I guess what we're going to move on to here is a little bit of a demonstration
00:44:25of tanks for Arma 3.
00:44:27So one of the new showcases that will be included at release as well is Showcase Tanks.
00:44:34And it's both single player and multiplayer.
00:44:37So you can see it right here.
00:44:40And I guess we'll just get started.
00:44:42Let's restart so we don't join the last session.
00:44:45Let's get into the hatch.
00:44:46But what we're going to do right now is we're going to show the multiplayer version because
00:44:50it's a little bit faster into the action and that kind of stuff.
00:44:52But there is a single player version.
00:44:54So I guess I'll just select group leader here and we'll get moving.
00:44:59Yeah.
00:45:00This actually means that all the content we have for the multiplayer is also playable in
00:45:05the single player.
00:45:06So there is quite a lot of content going on in the release of the game.
00:45:13Yeah, definitely, for sure.
00:45:15There's a lot of stuff for everyone to play around with.
00:45:17Yeah.
00:45:18There are many hours of gameplay in there.
00:45:21There are like 12 single player missions, 9 multiplayer missions which can be played
00:45:27in single player, of course, and then 10 firing drills and you can make your own mission.
00:45:35Of course, yeah, as we just demonstrated.
00:45:37But I guess one thing to say is if you want a full overview of the content you can head
00:45:41to
00:45:42to our countdown to launch page on the website.
00:45:45What we'll do for now is we'll just get started here.
00:45:48So task sees MOA.
00:45:49Sounds simple enough.
00:45:51Alright.
00:45:53Seems we have a little bit of an overlay bug here.
00:45:55Probably specifically related to tanks, but...
00:45:58That's important.
00:45:59Yeah, okay.
00:45:59We know about it, so...
00:46:01It's a feature.
00:46:02Yeah, it's a feature.
00:46:03It's a feature.
00:46:03It's not a bug, it's a feature.
00:46:04It's a tank mission.
00:46:05What do you expect?
00:46:06Okay.
00:46:07So here we are in our M2A1 Slammer.
00:46:10and our tank platoon behind us.
00:46:12You can see them down here in the command bar.
00:46:16So I guess we'll just get straight into the action.
00:46:18I think what I'm going to do is just the gunner seat so I can do some firing of my
00:46:21own.
00:46:22So let's go.
00:46:26So I guess this will be a real demonstration of the new possibilities brought to the game
00:46:31by PhysX and that kind of stuff.
00:46:34Yeah.
00:46:35Alright.
00:46:36So of course there is going to be more store in the single player version of the mission.
00:46:42This version is supplied more streamlined right into the tank.
00:46:48Got some infantry over in the distance though.
00:46:52Not much of a threat for us.
00:46:54Yet.
00:46:55Of course if they do have AT launchers then they're going to be a problem for us.
00:47:01Seems like my tank platoon made short work.
00:47:03Oh we got an enemy vehicle.
00:47:05Just took out all the back tires with a single shot.
00:47:09Let's see if we can't finish him off.
00:47:11Oh he finished.
00:47:12One of my other guys finished him off.
00:47:13Oh we have something to our right.
00:47:17Just saw it on our radar at the top there you can see.
00:47:22Maybe my guys can take him out.
00:47:26Right as I say that.
00:47:28Yeah.
00:47:28They fired on him as well.
00:47:30Yeah.
00:47:31As you may see the penetration system has been improved a bit.
00:47:34or maybe a lot of force on someone.
00:47:37Yeah definitely.
00:47:37Because nowadays you are able to shoot the crew of the tank off the tank.
00:47:43Let's swap the heat here and take out that truck.
00:47:45Nice little explosion.
00:47:48Looks like we got another contact to our left here somewhere.
00:47:53So you can see of course the smoke effects affected by the wind and all that stuff.
00:47:58It's a bit windy out right now on ultis I think.
00:48:04He's a little courageous isn't he?
00:48:07Yeah he is.
00:48:07Yeah.
00:48:08He must be going to support his friends.
00:48:09Ah my other tanks are taking care of him quite nicely.
00:48:12And he's gone.
00:48:15Got an MRAP 100 meters from right here.
00:48:19So you can see we're just quite clearly steamrolling through the planes of ultis.
00:48:24Eliminating everything on path.
00:48:28The tanks are clearly a beast of steel.
00:48:31Yes definitely.
00:48:33I feel quite safe inside this thing I must admit.
00:48:37Here you can see there a nice thing about physics.
00:48:39We hit these obstacles.
00:48:41Not a garden for the tank.
00:48:43Yeah.
00:48:43And there is even a lot of more stuff to configure with the physics.
00:48:48Everything is still work in progress.
00:48:50Yeah.
00:48:51Like previously if you wanted to make a car it would be just changing the speed.
00:48:57But nowadays you are able to adjust the suspension, adjust the wheels and things like that.
00:49:03We have made quite a lot of documentation about that.
00:49:07So if you want to make your own car into the game it should be quite easy to do that.
00:49:12Yeah definitely trying to make our renowned modders lives easier.
00:49:17Yeah.
00:49:19Target neutralized.
00:49:21One maybe for the guys wondering what other improvements you made to the AI.
00:49:26It reminded me of when Sicker talked about those little low walls that the tanks can just steamroll over.
00:49:32One of the things our programming leader Mishek has done, Dr. Clark, he created a new class of wall.
00:49:41So basically if you are in something like a small car the AI won't try to drive over these walls
00:49:47that destroy their tires on them.
00:49:49But if you are in a tank they will see that object and know they will be able to pass
00:49:54over it.
00:49:55So it means in engagements like this the tanks will be much more able to manoeuvre around the battlefield.
00:50:01They won't sort of stop to go around them all.
00:50:03Oh I just did a hit.
00:50:05So it's a subtle change but it's definitely something which we hope really helps in the pathfinding of the vehicles
00:50:13and situations like this.
00:50:16Oh I'm taking quite a number of hits.
00:50:18Seems I've just walked into a hornet's nest.
00:50:21Or rolled into a hornet's nest.
00:50:23I think I've neutralized the part of that tank for now.
00:50:26How's that one of his crew members?
00:50:29Oh!
00:50:29One of my fellow members in my tank platoon took him out.
00:50:34But yeah, going on from what Jay said you can see my AI, completely AI controlled tank platoon is keeping
00:50:40up with me over this terrain.
00:50:42And then you've seen that I've gone over these low walls you mentioned.
00:50:46I've gone over boulders, through trees, through bushes, around buildings.
00:50:50They're still keeping up with me.
00:50:52And you may have even seen that there's some warning for inherent missiles in the tanks.
00:50:59So you are able to manage them and to get out of the range of missiles or something like that
00:51:06by some countermeasures.
00:51:09It seems my fellow tank platoon members are getting a bit hammered by these tanks right here.
00:51:15So I'm going to try and help them out.
00:51:22That big tank right there, you can see it's the R4 main battle tank, the T100 Varsuit.
00:51:28The dish will also be included at release.
00:51:32Bit of the main opponent to our M2A1 slammers here.
00:51:36You can see though that our numbers kind of outweigh theirs.
00:51:39So we managed to take them both out.
00:51:42So let's see if we can't mop up the area around the Mawless here and complete the mission.
00:51:50Ah, it seems my marshal crew took too much damage and were forced to move out on foot.
00:51:59Again, reinforcing the aspect that it's go anywhere and do anything.
00:52:05So they've transitioned from rolling across the plains of Altus to walking across the plains of Altus.
00:52:12I'm still hearing a whole bunch of explosions but I can't see where my guys are firing so maybe I
00:52:17should stop moving and take a look around.
00:52:22Yeah, it is kind of nice at times to just survey the battlefield and see the damage you've done and
00:52:26where you've come from.
00:52:27So we came from all the way over there and now we're all the way into the town.
00:52:32Forward!
00:52:32It was dimmed up all the other times.
00:52:34Yeah, and you can see the smoke there.
00:52:37Again, a very different kind of battlefield from what you can have on Stratus.
00:52:41There's much more of those hills and valleys.
00:52:44So when we open up to an enormous environment like Altus, we can do these kind of things.
00:52:48We can roll across these big buildings.
00:52:52But then when we get to these larger cities, tanks become a lot less...
00:52:55Oh, there we go!
00:52:57As we get to the cities, it becomes a lot less effective.
00:52:59But in this case, our objective is just to clear out the way.
00:53:02It seems we did that.
00:53:05So yeah, a quick demonstration there of the abilities of our tanks in Arma 3.
00:53:11And I must say for myself, it was quite fun, quite different to be rolling in such a weapon of
00:53:17destruction.
00:53:18Let's see, what did I...
00:53:21I did get quite a number of kills, we lost one guy, that's a shame.
00:53:25Alright, so shall we move on to the next, do you think?
00:53:30Well...
00:53:31Well, do we have some more questions?
00:53:33Just in for final two questions of the community, basically, from the forums.
00:53:39I actually think...
00:53:41Well, first I actually want to say, to get a kind of idea of what your work is, I would
00:53:46actually want to point people towards the reporting interview we did a few weeks ago.
00:53:53Basically, if you go to the Arma 3 website, go to News, and then scroll down a little bit,
00:53:58you can find an interview with him, and it kind of explains what goes into configuring all
00:54:03the weapons, all the vehicles.
00:54:06If you guys don't mind, I'm just going to fly around for a minute.
00:54:08So, let's continue with this, the first question from Kilroy the Nerd is, are there any improvements
00:54:20to artillery, like are there special munitions, such as laser guided or search and destroy?
00:54:28Well, the artillery has been completely reworked, engine-wise, yeah, and there are some special
00:54:37kind of ammunition, like you are able to have some kind of sub-munitions, so the shell changes
00:54:44into something else mid-air, and you could have, for example, cluster ammunition, which
00:54:49is banned, but, well, this is war, and...
00:54:53This is war!
00:54:54Yeah, and sometimes you need to do the wrong stuff to get the right stuff, and, for example,
00:55:03the laser guided ammunition works, and even the seek and destroy ammunition works, and
00:55:08you are able to hit the target even without knowing his exact position, if you have the
00:55:15ammunition, which could be kind of a problem.
00:55:19So, there has been quite a lot of improvements in this, and once you see the artillery shot
00:55:27going nearby, you are pretty damned.
00:55:30Okay.
00:55:32So, I hope that answers the question of Kilroy.
00:55:36Then, moving on to another great name, it's Daskank.
00:55:40Daskank?
00:55:41Yeah.
00:55:41A question.
00:55:43And he's basically asking, which is actually a really interesting question, I think, for
00:55:48everyone who likes to make missions in Armor 3.
00:55:50Yeah.
00:55:51His question is, will there be more editor objects to play with?
00:55:55And then he refers to things like ambient sounds, and whatever.
00:56:00Well, it depends on the kind of the objects.
00:56:04There is going to be a lot more objects with the launch of the game.
00:56:08These are not listed on the launch page, because it's mostly some kind of minor objects, like
00:56:16pens or the drill or something like that, you are able to put into the mission.
00:56:22Some of them are just spawnable via script, and most of them are placeable into the editor.
00:56:31So, they are quite easy to use.
00:56:35Okay.
00:56:37Well, I think actually seeing Thomas write the UAV, maybe we can have one bonus question.
00:56:47Basically, it's a question about, do the new UAVs work the same as in Armor 2?
00:56:56Well, there has been quite a lot of engine improvements, because previously in Armor 2,
00:57:02the UAVs were mostly scripted, and now it's engine based, that means that they are faster
00:57:10for the game, and even there are some kind of new stuff in there, like the scripted version
00:57:18was consisting of an invisible soldier, who paradropped out of the vehicle and something like that.
00:57:29But nowadays we have really an autonomous unit, and you are not able to make it paradropped
00:57:37or something like that, you are able to take control of any object and even to switch into the camera
00:57:46or into the gunner's position.
00:57:49The light darter and the fixed wing UAV have the laser designator, and they are able to see the targets
00:58:01and broadcast them to other members of your group, so they could be used to, for example, send the artillery
00:58:10we were speaking about.
00:58:12Okay.
00:58:13So I will let you get back to it.
00:58:18All right.
00:58:18Cool.
00:58:19Well, you might have been looking while they were talking at some of our new drones.
00:58:26what you saw before was the Stomper.
00:58:29You also had a look at, this year, the Darter, sitting there on the NATO showcase.
00:58:34But now we are actually in control of them.
00:58:38So, well, what's new sir?
00:58:40Well, you could, of course, release the control and let it be autonomous.
00:58:46Yep.
00:58:47That's also very true, if I could just get him to hover right here.
00:58:53But yeah, so release control.
00:58:55You can see, there he is.
00:58:56Hello.
00:58:56There he is.
00:58:57I'm gonna take control again.
00:58:58And it does its own stuff.
00:59:01You could, of course, assign some waypoints for it or make it do some stuff like circling
00:59:08around the enemy group and reporting the positions.
00:59:13Yeah, as you might have seen there for just a second, we swapped to the thermal vision
00:59:19from the optics mode of the Darter right here.
00:59:24And you could see, if I do it again, get some thermal here.
00:59:31So you can use this to very easily pinpoint hidden enemy units and such.
00:59:35And I think you can even designate them for friendly units if you need to.
00:59:40Yeah.
00:59:40So it's a nice little way of maybe even creating some cooperative scenarios for you to play with.
00:59:45Yeah, because both Darter and the fixed wing UAV are equipped with the laser pointer.
00:59:52and you are able to pinpoint the position of enemy and use it, for example, for the artillery
01:00:02or something like that.
01:00:06Of course, you could just report the position of enemies to your room and use this as a recon
01:00:13advantage.
01:00:16And obviously, it's not like it can go particularly anywhere.
01:00:19You can see right now, it's rather agile, but it's not the fastest thing in the world.
01:00:25So you do need the still, the human element to it to get into the right position, set yourself up.
01:00:30You saw at the beginning there, I actually had it as a backpack.
01:00:35So I can take it, disassemble it, reassemble it, that kind of stuff.
01:00:38Yeah.
01:00:39And of course, we have only a limited capacity of fuel.
01:00:43And you can see in the top left that I've already used a fairly significant amount of it just
01:00:48by flying around here.
01:00:49So you do have to, you have to be smart about how you deploy these things.
01:00:53But they definitely, they definitely change things up in a nice way.
01:00:56Yeah.
01:00:56Add a new, shall we say, dimension to the gameplay.
01:01:00And I think one thing that I really like about them is the, like, man portable.
01:01:04You can put them in the backpacks.
01:01:06You can take, you can have, so the importance of the UAV operator in your squad, you know,
01:01:11he becomes a legitimate part of gameplay himself.
01:01:14So if I land this thing here, I think I could actually demonstrate again, disassembling him
01:01:19and putting him right back into a backpack for me to carry around.
01:01:22If I don't crash while doing so.
01:01:24Yeah.
01:01:25It's pretty agile.
01:01:26It's hard to control it correctly.
01:01:28We got down just fine.
01:01:30Yeah.
01:01:30Once you get used to it, it's quite easy.
01:01:33Yeah.
01:01:33So you can see here, you have the option in the action menu.
01:01:37Disassemble.
01:01:38Press it.
01:01:39And he's now in a backpack.
01:01:41Yeah.
01:01:41And if we want, we can then take this backpack.
01:01:44And there we have it.
01:01:45So now I'm in my squad's UAV operator.
01:01:48I'm moving with them.
01:01:49We get to a point.
01:01:51Yeah.
01:01:52So we can see if we have a, you know, a squad on squad engagement, we get our UAV operator,
01:01:57deploy the data, find out the position of the enemy and then make some, make the right
01:02:02choices about how to, you know, proceed with the engagement.
01:02:06Yeah.
01:02:07It's all part of the, natively part of the game now.
01:02:11There's no scripting around that you have to do.
01:02:13It just works.
01:02:14And so we think it's a really nice little advancement from, from what we had in Arrowhead
01:02:19at least.
01:02:20Definitely.
01:02:20And like, like I alluded to earlier before, if we, we have a couple more bits of fine tuning
01:02:26to do with these drones, but we'd really like to get them out onto the dev branch later
01:02:30next week and, you know, stay tuned to our social channels because we'll be sure to announce
01:02:35that as and when we do.
01:02:36Yeah.
01:02:37And of course the UAVs are not some kind of super weapon because they are easily destroyed.
01:02:44Mhm.
01:02:44So one or two shots disable them and then the opposite group is from their side.
01:02:51You definitely, as we said, you definitely have to use them strategically and tactically.
01:02:55Yeah.
01:02:56Alright, well, that was a nice quick look at drones.
01:03:00So how are we doing on time?
01:03:03Yeah, I think we can, we can wrap up.
01:03:05Yeah, okay.
01:03:07Well, with that we shall say goodbye for this particular live stream.
01:03:13So, as always guys, thanks for joining us.
01:03:16Once again, sorry for the less than live aspect of it.
01:03:22But hopefully, we still, we still got to show you what we wanted to show you.
01:03:25So, yeah, I hope you've enjoyed.
01:03:28And one thing that I wanted to get in there actually, I know that there's a lot of our team
01:03:32actually watching this stream sort of live, or they will be watching it.
01:03:35I just wanted to thank every one of them for their really hard work in the last few months
01:03:40especially.
01:03:41And now leading up to release, like they're working insane hours, weekends, and like all
01:03:46of us being here on a Saturday obviously.
01:03:48Thanks a lot, and keep up the great way.
01:03:51Alright.
01:03:52Great.
01:03:53So, yeah.
01:03:54Thanks for watching guys.
01:03:55And hopefully, see you again in the future.
01:03:59Definitely.
01:04:00So, thank you.
01:04:00Bye for now.
01:04:01Yeah, thank you.
01:04:02Alright.
01:04:03See you guys.
01:04:05And...
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:07Bye.
01:04:08Bye.
01:04:21Bye.
01:04:41Bye.
