10:01into Call of Duty Ghosts multiplayer.
10:03This MP game is built on three main pillars.
10:07Number one, your soldier.
10:09Character customization in Ghosts
10:11gives you over 20,000 possible combinations
10:15that allow you to personalize how you look
10:17and how you play the game like never before.
10:20And all this customization,
10:22as cool as it is,
10:23it's not just cosmetic.
10:24It's not just about expressiveness.
10:26It leads to all new gameplay experiences as well,
10:30like our new squads mode
10:31that you're going to hear a lot more about
10:33later in the show.
10:34Number two, your world.
10:36And Call of Duty Ghosts,
10:37as you can see in the trailer,
10:39the world in multiplayer
10:40literally shifts beneath your feet
10:42with our first ever dynamic map events,
10:45which makes the game more strategic,
10:47more challenging,

13:33First off,
13:34I just want to say
13:34on behalf of everyone
13:36at Infinity Ward
13:37and the teams
13:38at Raven and Neversoft,
13:40thank you for joining us.
13:41I have to say also
13:42that over the years,
13:44watching our guys
13:45create multiplayer
13:46has been a fascinating experience.
13:48It's one of the most organic
13:49yet thorough processes
13:51I've ever been a part of.
13:52From a design focus for us,
13:54it's always about the gameplay.
13:56So everything is designed
13:57to enhance the experience
13:59and ensure that can be
14:00as absolutely as fun as possible.
14:02If a new idea
14:03doesn't make it better,
14:05then no matter
14:05how cool it sounds,
14:07it's cut.
14:08For Call of Duty Ghosts,
14:10multiplayer,
14:11everything got touched.
14:12Nothing was sacred.
14:13We went through
14:14every single system
14:15in the game.
14:16From maps and modes,
14:17to animation and audio,
14:19to who you are
14:20as a player.
14:21This is the biggest overhaul
14:24of multiplayer
14:25we've done
14:26since the original
14:27Modern Warfare.
14:28So let's get started.
14:31When we brought
14:32Create a Class
14:34and the Perk system
14:35to our players
14:36for the first time
14:37in the original
14:37Modern Warfare,
14:38we had hoped
14:39it would be received well.
14:40And it's great to see
14:41how the community
14:42has embraced it.
14:43This year,
14:44we believe our new system
14:45is the most flexible
14:47and comprehensive
14:48character customization yet.
14:51So in Ghosts,
14:52you don't just create a class,
14:54you create a soldier.
14:56You know, in the past,
14:57we allowed you
14:58to customize your loadouts,
14:59but you're really just
15:00a randomly generated character.
15:02So for Ghosts,
15:03we wanted to empower
15:04the player
15:05to customize who they are.
15:08So the first thing
15:09you do when you create
15:10your soldier
15:10is you're going to pick
15:11what you look like.
15:12You're going to choose
15:13the head,
15:14the body type,
15:15the headgear.
15:15And like Eric mentioned,
15:17there are over 20,000
15:19possible combinations.
15:20And as you saw
15:21from the trailer,
15:22you can also play
15:23as a female soldier.
15:27Now let's talk
15:28about weapons.
15:29We're bringing
15:30a massive amount
15:31of new weapons
15:32to Call of Duty Ghosts.
15:33Overall,
15:34there's more than
15:3430 new weapons
15:35across assault rifles,
15:37shotguns,
15:38launchers,
15:38LMGs,
15:38and more.
15:39It's an 80% overhaul
15:41from Modern Warfare 3.
15:43We've also created
15:44a new weapon class,
15:45a whole new weapon class
15:47that bridges the gap
15:48between sniper class
15:50and assault class.
15:51it's called
15:51Marksman Rifles.
15:53These weapons
15:54can be used
15:54as scoped
15:55semi-automatic
15:56sniper rifles
15:58or as
15:59iron sight based
16:00single shot
16:01assault rifles.
16:02For me personally,
16:03these remind me
16:04of my days
16:05of Call of Duty 1
16:06and Call of Duty 2
16:07playing with weapons
16:08like the M1
16:08in the car.
16:09They take a lot
16:10of skill to use,
16:12but it was really
16:13rewarding to get a kill.
16:15And one of the things
16:16that shows off
16:17our advance in weapons
16:18the most
16:19is we've added scopes
16:20with dual render technology
16:21which allow you
16:22to keep your target
16:24in sight
16:25and still maintain
16:26your peripheral vision.
16:28So overall,
16:29we've completely redone
16:30the way the weapons look,
16:32the way they feel,
16:33and the way they sound.
16:34And we can't wait
16:35for you guys
16:35to get your hands on them.
16:38So customization for us
16:39means more than just
16:40the look of your soldier.
16:42It also means
16:43giving you greater control
16:44in customizing your loadout.
16:46So we really liked
16:47what Treyarch did
16:48with the PIC-10 system
16:49in Black Ops 2.
16:50And we've incorporated
16:51a similar approach
16:53to our Create-A-Soldier system.
16:55In Ghost,
16:56you're allocated a budget
16:57for your primary weapon,
16:58secondary weapon,
16:59your lethal and tactical equipment,
17:01and your perks.
17:02All attachments
17:03and killstreaks are free.
17:05So let's get into
17:06the way perks work.
17:07First,
17:08we're bringing more perks
17:09than we've ever had before
17:11and, very importantly,
17:13a whole new way
17:14to select them.
17:14So every perk
17:16has a set point value
17:18from 1 to 5.
17:19And you have 8 points
17:21to use how you want.
17:23So for example,
17:24I could choose 4 perks,
17:26each valued at 2 points apiece,
17:28or 8 perks,
17:30each valued at 1.
17:31I could also choose
17:32to get rid of my secondary weapon
17:34and my equipment
17:35and get up to 11 perks.
17:37This provides
17:38a whole new level
17:39of strategy
17:40and customization
17:41to our Create-A-Soldier system.
17:42You have the freedom
17:44to pick what you want
17:45and play how you want.
17:47And that includes killstreaks.
17:50So for killstreaks,
17:51we've added over 20 new ones
17:53to Ghost,
17:54such as Juggernaut,
17:56sorry,
17:57Juggernaut Maniac,
17:58Helo Scout,
17:59Vulture,
18:00and Odin Strike.
18:01And of course,
18:03one of my favorites
18:03is you get to call in Riley
18:05as a guard dog.
18:07He'll follow you around the map,
18:09taking out enemies
18:10that get close,
18:10and he'll actually
18:12even act like a UAV
18:13by growling
18:14when enemies are near.
18:17We really had a lot of fun
18:18actually designing
18:19these killstreaks.
18:20And like Modern Warfare 3,
18:22you earn these killstreaks
18:23not just through kills,
18:25but also by completing
18:26game mode objectives.
18:29Now, we're also bringing back
18:30strike packages,
18:31assault, support,
18:32and specialist.
18:33And we got a lot
18:34of great feedback
18:34from the community
18:35and have put a ton of work
18:37in making these killstreak packages
18:39more unique
18:40and well-defined.
18:42So one of the things
18:43we're doing
18:43is we're reducing
18:44the number of air-based
18:45killstreaks
18:46and replacing them
18:47with more visceral,
18:48in-your-face,
18:49ground-based ones.
18:50For instance,
18:52UAV
18:52is now a ground-based device
18:54called Satcom
18:55instead of a drone
18:56in the air.
18:57So players won't need
18:59special equipment
18:59to take it out,
19:00but it also adds
19:01a new layer of strategy
19:02for the player calling it in
19:04as they can try
19:05and hide it from enemies.
19:07When it comes
19:07to the support package,
19:09not only did we reduce
19:10the overall lethality of it,
19:11but it's been designed
19:12to better reward
19:13your contribution
19:14to your team.
19:15So we focused
19:16on killstreaks
19:16that counter enemy equipment,
19:18provide increased map awareness,
19:20and support your team
19:21in a variety of deployables.
19:23And as a side note,
19:24there are no more deathstreaks.
19:31So we've just talked
19:32about all the things
19:33available to you
19:34and create a soldier.
19:35Now let's talk about
19:36how you earn those things.
19:38So as you earn XP
19:39in Call of Duty Ghosts,
19:40you'll receive squad points
19:42that you can use
19:43to unlock weapons,
19:44killstreaks,
19:45attachments,
19:45and equipment.
19:46The key difference is
19:47that you choose
19:48which weapons,
19:50killstreaks,
19:50et cetera,
19:51you get to unlock
19:52in the order you want.
19:54So if I want
19:55the first weapon I unlock
19:56to be the new
19:57IA-2 Marksman rifle,
19:59as soon as I have
20:00enough squad points,
20:01I can unlock it right away.
20:04So what I've just described
20:05is how you customize
20:06a single soldier.
20:08But in Ghosts,
20:09we're actually allowing you
20:10to create a squad
20:11of up to 10 soldiers,
20:13each one with its own unlocks,
20:16loadouts,
20:16appearance,
20:17and prestige.
20:19So as you play
20:20each of these soldiers,
20:21you earn XP.
20:22and once you've earned enough,
20:24that soldier prestiges.
20:26But this time,
20:27you get to keep
20:28everything you've unlocked.
20:29So 10 soldiers,
20:31one level of prestige
20:32per soldier,
20:33equals 10 levels of prestige.
20:36There's more to squads
20:37than just progression,
20:38but I'll come back
20:39to that in a second.
20:41So let's now start talking
20:42about some of the new modes
20:44for Call of Duty Ghosts,
20:45a couple of which
20:46we're going to see today.
20:48First, let's talk about Cranked.
20:50This is similar to Team Deathmatch,
20:52but with an even faster pace.
20:54When you get a kill,
20:55you gain faster movement,
20:57reload, and ADS.
20:58But there's a catch.
21:00You also gain a countdown clock.
21:02So you have to rack up
21:03your next kill
21:04before the timer hits zero,
21:06or you'll explode.
21:09Why not?
21:12And so you're not really
21:13just competing against kills,
21:15you're also competing
21:16against the clock.
21:18Next up is Search and Rescue.
21:20So this is a take
21:21on Search and Destroy,
21:22but instead of being done
21:24for the round
21:25when you're killed,
21:26in Search and Rescue,
21:27your team can revive you
21:28and get you back
21:29into the action.
21:31The way this works
21:32is when a player dies,
21:33they drop a tag.
21:35If an ally picks up that tag,
21:38then that player responds.
21:40If an enemy picks up the tag,
21:42then the player is out
21:43for the round.
21:44So it's important for players
21:45to not only grab
21:46their allies' tags,
21:47but also grab
21:48their enemies' tags.
21:50And this really adds
21:51an extra layer of excitement
21:52for both teams
21:53as you're not only competing
21:54for the objectives,
21:55but you're also competing
21:56for your teammates' tags.
21:59So I mentioned earlier
22:00this idea of creating
22:02a squad of up to 10 soldiers,
22:04and what that's done is
22:05it's led us to creating
22:07a whole new third game mode.
22:09It's called squads.
22:11This is something you can do solo,
22:14cooperatively,
22:15or competitively.
22:16It's based around the idea
22:17of taking your squad
22:19that you've created
22:19in multiplayer
22:20and competing against AI
22:22or other players.
22:24And your progress here
22:25counts towards multiplayer.
22:27So you'll be earning XP
22:28and ranking up
22:29by playing squads.
22:32This new mode
22:33is for players
22:34of all skill levels
22:35and shows off
22:36the tremendous amount
22:37of work we've done
22:38on the AI.
22:39They act more like
22:40human players
22:41than anything
22:42we've ever created.
22:43And I mean this for real.
22:44They'll drop shot,
22:45they'll side strafe,
22:46they'll corner camp,
22:47and they'll jump shot.
22:49It's amazing how much
22:50they play like real players.
22:52And you, like myself,
22:53may find yourself
22:54yelling at them
22:55as if they were.
22:57Also important is
22:58your loadout actually,
23:00your loadout choices
23:01actually directly change
23:02the impact
23:03of how your squad
23:04will behave.
23:05So if you equip
23:06one of your squad mates
23:06with a sniper rifle,
23:08he'll act like a sniper.
23:09Same goes for SMG,
23:11LMG, Exalt.
23:12This is a really big
23:14new gameplay option.
23:16So let's take
23:17a deeper look.
23:19Our new squad mode
23:20introduces a whole new
23:21level of competition
23:22to Call of Duty.
23:24We've taken the best parts
23:25of the multiplayer experience
23:27and combined that
23:28with a vastly improved AI
23:29and our new mechanic
23:30of creating your own squad mates.
23:32All the hard work
23:33you've put into customizing,
23:35playing, and prestiging
23:36your squad
23:37can now be put to use
23:38on a brand new
23:39playing field.
23:41Squads is for all skill levels
23:43and offers a variety
23:44of gameplay modes
23:44to choose from,
23:45both solo and cooperative.
23:47Your progress here
23:48counts towards multiplayer
23:49so you'll be earning XP
23:50and ranking up
23:51by playing squads.
23:52Let's look at some of the modes.
23:54In our new squad
23:55versus squad mode,
23:56you'll be able to compete
23:57against other players
23:58one-on-one
23:59with your squads as teammates.
24:01It'll take more than just
24:02your personal skill
24:03in this mode.
24:04A winning strategy
24:05will come from finding
24:06the right combination
24:06of loadouts
24:07for each soldier
24:08in your squad.
24:11In Wargame,
24:12you will handpick
24:13five of your squad mates
24:14to battle it out
24:15against an advanced
24:16AI-controlled team
24:17that replicates
24:18the full multiplayer experience.
24:20Wargame can be played
24:21in every game mode
24:22available in multiplayer.
24:27We've added an all-new
24:28four-player co-op mode

24:46against an offline player squad.
24:48You'll be able to matchmake

24:54You'll be able to challenge
24:56these offline squads
24:57with five other players
24:58or go in solo
24:59with five of your squad members.
25:01This mode adds a sense
25:02of strategy
25:03for the offline player as well,
25:04as not only will they
25:05choose the loadouts
25:06of their offline squad,
25:08but they also get to
25:08choose the map and mode
25:09that their squad will defend.
25:11And they will be earning
25:12XP if their squad does well.
25:16With squads,
25:17we've taken some
25:18of our innovative
25:18new game mechanics
25:19and created a whole new
25:20gameplay experience
25:21for players to enjoy.

25:42a squad of soldiers
25:43to use in both
25:44multiplayer and squads.

26:07experience in every map.
26:09We're immersing players
26:10in the multiplayer maps
26:11in ways similar
26:12to what we've done
26:13cinematically in single player,
26:15while adding new ways
26:16to play and interact
26:18with the environments
26:19in a meaningful way.
26:20So we've introduced
26:21new interactive elements
26:22and player-triggered events
26:24that make the maps evolve
26:26as the match goes on.
26:28There's a huge range here,
26:30from player-triggered traps
26:31to map-changing killstreaks.
26:34The entire landscape
26:35can shift
26:36and require new tactics
26:38and strategies.
26:39Take the map Octane,
26:41for example,
26:42where you can blow up
26:43a gas station
26:44to take out enemies
26:44and create new cover,
26:46or you can set explosives
26:48on a wall
26:48to open up a new line of sight.
26:50Also, on certain modes,
26:52there's a care package
26:53that we've hidden on the map.
26:55It's all about player control.
26:57When these are used,
26:59they have a direct impact
27:00on the match.
27:03So our map design,
27:05it wouldn't be possible
27:06without the new tech
27:08that we're bringing to Ghost.
27:10Not only does the tech
27:11allow us to create
27:12these new dynamic events,
27:13but also adds a new level
27:16of immersion to our maps.
27:18From graphics to animation
27:19to audio,
27:21we set our sights
27:22on making this
27:23the most visceral experience
27:25we've ever created.
27:26for next-gen,
27:28things like sub-D,
27:29displacement mapping,
27:30and real-time lighting
27:31give us the tools
27:33to create this new world.
27:37One of the key successes
27:38for Call of Duty
27:39is how it feels,
27:41the controls,
27:42moving through the world.
27:44The attention to detail
27:45is what makes Call of Duty
27:47feel right.
27:49But we knew
27:50we could make it even better.
27:51so we've redefined
27:53how you, the player,
27:54move through the world.
27:57Everything will feel better,
27:58from the weapons you use
28:00to how you traverse
28:01the environment.
28:02And we've given players
28:03new ways to engage in combat.
28:06So some examples,
28:07we've added a contextual lean system
28:10that allows you
28:11to naturally lean
28:12around obstacles
28:13without adding
28:14button combinations.
28:15It's intuitive
28:17and seamless.
28:18We've also added
28:19a new mantling system.
28:21This allows you
28:22to move fluidly
28:23over objects
28:24while not losing momentum.
28:26Whether low mantling
28:27while firing your weapon
28:28or jump mantling
28:30from rooftop to rooftop.
28:32And one of my new favorites
28:33is the knee slide.
28:35This is a way
28:36to naturally transition
28:37from sprinting
28:38to crouch or prone.
28:39This allows you
28:40to maintain momentum
28:41as you move
28:42through the world.
28:43All of these new movements
28:45are designed
28:46to enhance the experience
28:47and controls
28:49you already know.
28:51So as I mentioned earlier,
28:53audio was a key focus
28:55in developing our new engine.
28:56In particular,
28:58creating an audio design
28:59that complemented
29:01all of our new
29:01graphical enhancements.
29:03So some of the new features
29:04we've added
29:04are an ADS-based,
29:07ADS-R-based reverb system,
29:10reactive emitters,
29:11and locational battle chatter.
29:13So let's take a look.
29:15The next-gen audio engine
29:17in Call of Duty Ghosts
29:18will help the player
29:19really feel enveloped
29:20and connected
29:21to their environment.
29:28We have greatly improved
29:30our player connection
29:31to the world
29:32through audio.
29:34One of the ways
29:35that we did that
29:36is through
29:36the new reverb engine.
29:39it's a much more
29:40realistic algorithm
29:42that works for interiors.
29:43It changes real-time
29:45as you walk
29:45into a different area.
29:51So a giant,
29:53metal,
29:54large space
29:55would sound
29:56completely different
29:57from a small,
29:59carpeted room.
30:01There is definitely
30:02an advantage
30:03having the reverb
30:04in multiplayer.
30:05You will be able
30:05to know
30:06when people are
30:07inside your space.
30:10One new multiplayer feature
30:11that we've upgraded
30:12in Call of Duty Ghosts
30:13is what we call
30:14locational battle chatter.
30:16Contact shooters
30:16in that restaurant!
30:17Not only will your teammates
30:19tell you
30:19when a grenade goes out
30:20or when they kill an enemy,
30:22Target neutralized!
30:23Now they'll tell you
30:24when they've actually
30:24spotted an enemy
30:25near a landmark.

30:28to see the totem pole!

30:31We're really excited
30:32about this feature
30:32and how it's going to

34:45Now, I'm just kidding.

44:58you get paired up
44:59every two weeks
45:00against a series
45:01of other clans.
45:02Clans that are
45:02a similar skill,
45:03similar size,
45:04similar location as you
45:05and you have
45:05a battle over territories.
45:07You'll have one territory,
45:08maybe an oil rig
45:09that's tied to
45:10Team Deathmatch.
45:11It'll have a series
45:12of wins you have
45:12to achieve as a clan.
45:13Each win will tally up
45:15and if you're the first
45:16clan to occupy that space
45:17you get points in clan wars
45:18as well as XP bonuses
45:19in the game.
45:20The longer you hold
45:21that territory
45:22the more points you get
45:22for your team.
45:23The team with the most points
45:24at the end of the two weeks
45:25wins the war.
45:26We built the game
45:27so that one clan
45:28can't necessarily
45:28dominate the entire map.
45:30Once you've taken over
45:30a territory,
45:31it's your clan
45:32against all the other
45:33clans collectively.
45:34So it's going to be
45:34very hard to maintain it.
45:36What's really cool
45:37is we've really tried
45:38to cater to all types
45:39of players.
45:39So whether you're a noob
45:40or you're an expert player,
45:41every win in multiplayer
45:43will contribute
45:43towards your clan.
45:44So as you build up
45:45wins for your team,
45:46you essentially
45:47will take over territories
45:48that give you unlocks
45:49and bonuses in the game.
45:50You'll get certain items
45:51in the game
45:52that you can only get
45:52from Lindy and Clan Wars.
