Una sorta di videodocumentario da parte di Insomniac sullo sviluppo di Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force.
Trascrizione
00:02Hi, Fred here from PlayStation Blog. We're at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and we're with Sean McCabe from Insomniac Games
00:09to talk about Ratchet & Clank Q-Force.
00:12So, Sean, I suppose your big announcement this week was the news that it's coming to Vita.
00:17Yeah, that was. It just happened on Tuesday. We're really excited to announce that people will be able to enjoy
00:24Ratchet & Clank Q-Force on the Vita.
00:26Are you bringing any sort of exclusive features to the Vita version?
00:30We do. We have a handful of cool features planned. Probably the first one is cross-play. We're really excited
00:38to be supporting cross-play in Q-Force.
00:42And what it means for the game is you can use the same matchmaking servers and you can play against
00:48any players worldwide.
00:50Same server. Climb up the leaderboards on the go or at home.
00:55And we really feel like it's a perfect fit because our competitive matches last 10 to 15 minutes, which fit
01:01kind of the on-the-go time frame that a lot of people are looking for in Vita games.
01:08Okay. I suppose the new hook with Q-Force is this tower defense element that you've added in?
01:14Yeah, there is a base defense element. I mean, it's an important part.
01:19In Q-Force, you're going down on these battlefields and you're going up against this alien army.
01:25And unlike kind of the past games, these aliens aren't content just to wait for you to come and blow
01:31them up.
01:32Periodically, they're going to come after you.
01:33And so there's a balance between attacking and defending that goes on throughout the entire game.
01:40I suppose it seems like a slight left turn for the series, this tower defense.
01:44Are you worried that people are going to take to it okay?
01:47Yeah, I think people will dig it. We think it's really cool.
01:49We felt like it was a natural fit.
01:51It wasn't a matter of trying to fit elements of that genre into Ratchet.
01:58It was more, you know, we were looking at building these large open battlefields where players had a lot of
02:04choices about what to do.
02:05And somebody just had the suggestion, well, what if the enemies attack from time to time?
02:09And it evolved out of that.
02:10And I think because of that, like, people are going to take to it.
02:14Okay.
02:15What's your kind of process with Ratchet and Clank?
02:17You finish a Ratchet and Clank game, then you give it a couple months, you sit down and brainstorm ideas.
02:21How do you kind of move on from one game to the next?
02:24It's probably a little bit of that.
02:26Like, it's always nice to have some space in between the projects so you can kind of clear your head
02:32and think of new ideas.
02:34But honestly, for this franchise, they're happening all the time.
02:39You know, I think kind of the idea of doing this kind of game happened, you know, maybe two-thirds
02:44or halfway through working on Ratchet and Clank All for One.
02:47And we just had the idea of reuniting the Q-Force, Captain Quark, Ratchet and Clank, and building a game
02:55that was around about them going into battle together.
02:58Okay.
02:58I know in some regions it's download only.
03:03Does that mean there's less content than in your average Ratchet and Clank game, or is it still a pretty
03:08beefy experience?
03:08There's a ton of content in there.
03:11I mean, the campaign is about the size of Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty, which came out, gosh, I
03:17feel like it was 2008.
03:18Gosh, yeah.
03:19I know, how time flies.
03:22So you have the campaign in there.
03:23You can play by yourself.
03:25You can play co-op offline and online.
03:27And there's a full story to it and everything, hilarious story.
03:31And we also have this competitive mode that we just announced today.
03:36Okay.
03:36Or just unveiled today.
03:38And so, like, you're getting, there's a ton of game there.
03:42All right, okay.
03:44Well, we're looking forward to seeing more from the game.
03:47Just finally, we're in the middle of Gamescom.
03:49Have you seen some exciting stuff this week?
03:52I have.
03:52I've seen some really awesome stuff.
03:54The God of War, new God of War game looks really cool.
03:58Last of Us looks really cool.
04:00Did you get to have a look at the new Media Molecule game?
04:03I haven't.
04:03No, I haven't actually.
04:04I've only saw it in the press conference, and it was charming and as awesome as you'd expect.
04:11What a neat thing to be doing on that platform.
04:14Yeah.
04:15Okay.
04:15Yeah.
04:16All right.
04:16Thanks, Sean, for speaking to us.
04:17I'm looking forward to seeing more of the game.
04:19Cool.
04:19Great.
