00:00I'm.
00:16The wind comes from afar.
00:20It brings different scents.
00:23The bitterness of wilting grass.
00:26The smell of cooling soil.
00:53A space metropolis, created before the war even began, became mankind's only hope of salvation.
01:03Abandoned, scarred by numerous bombings.
01:07It managed to leave the planet as it writhed, dying, engulfed in flames and war.
01:14Now their vagabonds, stuck outside time itself.
01:20Their only hope is a far away world, where they'll be able to start the history of man anew.
01:28Exiles, whose memory of the past dims with each passing year,
01:33methodically recreate that which had almost destroyed their kind.
01:42It's so quiet.
01:44There's no wind today at all.
01:47The weather must be changing.
01:51Get up, my friend.
01:54We'd better hurry.
01:56Hi there.
01:57My name is Anatoly.
01:59And I'm the lead developer of Insomnia RPG.
02:01And this is Studio Mono, which is where development takes place.
02:05I'd like to speak with you a bit more about our game, Insomnia.
02:09Insomnia is a dieselpunk RPG set in a dark, retro-futuristic world.
02:14A true dystopia.
02:16The game features a complex, non-linear storyline and a realistic, hardcore combat system.
02:22The game takes place on board a colossal space metropolis
02:25that's been moving towards the spectral evacuation point for over 400 years,
02:30where the inhabitants of the station hope to begin mankind's story anew.
02:34As a player, you assume the role of one of the inhabitants of the space station.
02:38your character will need to figure out what had happened on the station over the past four centuries.
02:43And your play style and game choices will impact the fate of many characters.
02:48As you progress, you find out what had actually forced the remnants of the human race
02:52who embarked on this perilous journey,
02:54whilst learning what new dangers are lurking ahead,
02:56threatening the lives of everyone on board the station.
03:02Gameplay-wise, we were inspired by classic old-school RPGs,
03:06which means lots of branching dialogues.
03:10You'll meet colourful characters, some of whom will become allies,
03:14while others will end up becoming sworn enemies.
03:17You'll explore deserted sectors of the space metropolis,
03:21where you have unexpected encounters.
03:24In order to survive, you have to withstand hunger, thirst,
03:29wounds, hostile environments and dangerous adversaries that inhabit the station.
03:34As with any real RPG, there's naturally a complex plot with plenty of ways to play,
03:40and a multitude of endings.
03:44When we first started out, we had a couple of old computers
03:47and an enormous desire to make a game we would want to play ourselves.
03:52As we progressed on with development, we realised that we needed to bring on board more staff,
03:57with varied skill sets, in order for us to really make a game that suited our vision.
04:03All of that led to how a year and a half ago, we led a successful Kickstarter campaign,
04:08which allowed us to really get down to work in terms of developing the game,
04:12for which we are endlessly thankful to those backers who supported us in the very beginning.
04:17Everything you see now only exists because of your support,
04:21and thanks to you, we're able to really make our dreams come true.
04:25Over the past year, we've undertaken an incredible workload,
04:28and changed from OGRE to Unreal Engine 4.
04:31As mentioned earlier, we've also hired several new additions to the team,
04:35all of whom are highly qualified, experienced professionals in their field.
04:39And the team is finally fully staffed and running at full throttle.
04:4318 months ago, this was nothing but a dream.
04:47The majority of the storylines are done, and we've compiled the key locations.
04:51We've always had a hunch that the visual aspect of the game is one of the strengths of our project,
04:56only now we're certain of it.
05:00Naturally though, achieving all of this was not an easy task,
05:03but now we're incredibly satisfied at the look and feel of the game's visual theme,
05:07and we can't wait to show you more as the campaign progresses.
05:10In order to achieve the current result, we contributed over $100,000 of our own funds into the project,
05:17on top of those that we received from the original Kickstarter campaign.
05:21And unfortunately, we've exceeded our budget.
05:24We were not able to do everything that we had planned to do,
05:27with the appropriate level of quality within the time and budget we had allotted for it.
05:32Things still need to be tested and balanced.
05:34Content still needs to be worked on.
05:36Voice-overs need to be recorded.
05:38Writing needs to be edited, and everything needs to be translated.
05:42Basically, the process of optimizing all aspects of the game.
05:46Lots of complex problem-solving lies ahead, both technical and creative in nature.
05:52At this point, we're now at a fork in the road,
05:55having to choose between pushing back the release date indefinitely while trying to work on it without a budget,
06:00or successfully funding another campaign.
06:03Showing the gaming community what we've accomplished so far with the prologue chapter of our game,
06:08and hoping that you really like what you see,
06:11and decide that the game is moving in the right direction,
06:13that you'll help us out one more time.
06:17Please download the prologue chapter and check out our website,
06:20where we have lots of additional information on the lore of the game,
06:23screens, art, videos and more.
06:25If you'd like to contribute to the development process of Insomnia,
06:29now's the perfect time to get in touch.
06:31We're always eager to hear from you,
06:33and are ready to answer your questions and respond to your comments.
06:36We truly value your input,
06:37and only with your help and support can we finally bring our vision to life.
06:42We'll see you next time.
