00:04Brands Hatch is one of our favourite tracks in the game
00:07It's kind of our go to location
00:09When we want to test physics and things like that in the game
00:12Project Cars is coming out in November
00:14So here we are, we wanted to make sure that people get out onto the track
00:17And experience what it's like in real life
00:18So my name is Oliver James Webb
00:20I am the road and test driver for BAC Mono
00:24And also a professional racing driver in the European Le Mans Championship
00:27A day like today at Brands Hatch is great for us all to be involved with
00:31It's great for the press to see and for us involved with the game
00:34To also compare literally on a track that's considered as the game's home track
00:46The single-seaters were amazing
00:48Really raw, like a great kind of raw experience
00:51I had a moment sat in there where the wing mirrors were kind of like vibrating away
00:55And I was very conscious to light the helmets around here as well
00:58And I remember seeing that movie Rush
01:00And for a moment like every kid dreams like
01:03I dream like, I feel like a race driver
01:05And that's where I can play a bit of a part as well
01:08Really showing how realistic a lap time we can get out of the car on track
01:12And the bounce and how it feels and how the track looks
01:14And then coming upstairs and playing it and people seeing for themselves
01:23The BMWs are fantastic, you know, you put your foot down and they go like anything
01:28My instructor was telling me to brake all the time, you know
01:30Which is something that happens in real life I guess as well
01:34Normally you kind of play the game and build up to going out in the car
01:37And we've turned that round and people go out in the car and they play it in the game
01:40And it's wow, this really is how I've just felt
01:42It was a fantastic experience
01:46We've been making games for quite a long time
01:48Over ten years now
01:50And we've worked on two of the biggest racing franchises ever
01:53You know, Test Drive and Need for Speed
01:55But we wanted to do our own thing
01:57We wanted to make our own IP, our own franchise
01:59And when we were doing that we knew that we wanted to do it our own way
02:03So I first started getting involved with Project Cars
02:06When I was doing some work with BAC
02:08And they needed a bit more help on the car to make it work in game
02:11I was just kind of having to fiddle around at the end of the day
02:13And we just decided to have a look at some of the cars and tracks
02:17It is a massive risk, you know, like making a game
02:19And then hoping two years later, three years later
02:22That the game actually is something that players actually want to be involved in
02:24Every time I came back from a race weekend
02:26I could give advice on where the sun comes up
02:29Or where these new trees have been planted
02:30Or the new posts that go up
02:32Or these new tweets to the engine
02:33That maybe the manufacturer won't normally tell games about
02:36So it really just gave that in-depth extra bit of information
02:39That I've never seen in any other game
02:41Today we announced the Driver Network
02:43It breaks down into a number of different things
02:45First you've got your profile
02:46So it tells you what kind of player you are
02:48What are your favourite things in the game?
02:50Like your stats, what things do you love playing?
02:52What are the things you don't play and therefore maybe you should try?
02:55You also can compete in Driver Network Time Trial
02:58The chances of you being online at the same time as your friend are quite slim
03:01So asynchronously you can see his time, you can try to beat it
03:06And if he's so far ahead of you, you can download his ghost
03:10And see how he actually did that particular lap
03:12There's also community events for people to take part in
03:14These are things that are regularly scheduled
03:16And sometimes they even have real world prizes to actually compete for
03:19There's also your Driver Network Highlights
03:21These are your prettiest pictures, your mouse proud moments in the game
03:26We'll be curating the best bits on our YouTube and Flickr galleries as well
03:30The community is extremely important to us
03:33We wouldn't have been able to make the project cars without those guys
03:35And we are supporting the community after release with the Driver Network
03:43Everything you would have seen on the web from screenshots to trailers
03:46Has been made by the community
03:47They talk to us, they can private message me, other members of the staff
03:51And they can see progress of how the game is being made every single day of the week
03:55And that means that there's a certain level of confidence there
03:58That what we're making is something that the community really want to play
04:02You can really have that pure simulation feel with the weather playing a part
04:06And the treacherous conditions on the track
04:09And the cars being as realistic as possible
04:11And then fine-tune your AI and the other people to react how you want
04:14Their aggressiveness and how they react
04:16So you can really have the own custom game sitting in your living room at home
04:20I mean we are very kind of firmly putting our flag in the ground and saying
04:23If you are craving an authentic, realistic experience with real-life licensed cars
04:29Real-life tracks from around the world
04:31Project Cars is like your only choice this particular year
