00:07Grazie a tutti i Summoner's Rift
00:07Welcome to the Summoner's Rift Preview
00:09By now, you've probably heard about the update to Summoner's Rift
00:13So we'd like to share more detail behind what we're trying to accomplish
00:17Let's start with clarity
00:20For us, this is about making all gameplay information more readable
00:24One way we've tried to accomplish this is by controlling color, saturation, and color
00:29Level of detail in the environment
00:31So it doesn't distract from that Lissandra Claw sneaking up behind you
00:36In most situations, the first thing you should see is the UI
00:40Followed by visual effects, like champion abilities and summoner spells
00:45Then champions, minions, and monsters
00:47And finally, the environment itself
00:51Basically, we want you to be focused on fighting your opponents, not the game
00:57Check out this comparison of the current Rift against the updated version
01:01The navigation mesh, which dictates where you can and can't move
01:05Is partially obscured by the environment on the current map
01:08Now the environment's out of your way
01:10Making pathable space, flashable walls, and possible ward placements easier to see
01:17Another way we've tried to improve clarity
01:19Is by making it easier for players to orient themselves
01:23Each jungle quadrant now has a unique theme
01:26So your location is more obvious at a glance
01:30Barron serves as an orientation point
01:32With destruction radiating outward from his pit
01:36You'll find that the closer you get to him
01:38The more demolished the landscape becomes
01:41For instance, in the west quadrant
01:43The plant life is full of energy
01:45And rock formations are split by Barron's emergence
01:49In the east quadrant, the natural beauty of the forest was kept safe from his influence
01:55Even though both are home to blue buff
01:57They're visually different enough to let you know exactly where you are
02:03We want Summoner's Rift to be the place we play together for years to come
02:08For this update, we've chosen a handcrafted art style
02:11That we think will grow and evolve over time
02:14Just like the rest of the game
02:18Thematically, jungle monsters feel much more at home on the Rift
02:22And better communicate their power levels
02:24The red buff, the Brambleback
02:26Roars a warning at everyone who walks by
02:29Looking ready to pump out damage
02:32Compare him with the Krugs
02:34These monsters' cloistered defensive stance
02:37Implies their damage-soaking, tanky style
02:41Each jungle camp sports a bit more personality as well
02:45The Murkwolves emerge from their cave, ready for the hunt
02:48And the Gromp is just adjusting to his new weight class
02:56The two bases are just as distinctive
02:58They share similar architecture
03:00But their differences come from animal inspirations
03:05Red base features an owl motif and curvilinear shapes
03:09Whereas the blue base is inspired by a stag theme and blockier shapes
03:16In the middle of the map, the two sigils meet
03:18And you can see a side-by-side view of their differences
03:23Red minions wield axes, continuing their curvy shape language
03:27And blue minions carry on their more square traditions
03:30Swinging warhammers
03:32These different weapons and armor combine with brighter color saturation
03:36To help readability
03:39For Dragon and Baron, we added an element of ceremony
03:42Elevating their status beyond that of the jungle monsters
03:46Take a look at Dragon
03:48Menacing and imposing, he's very protective of his territory
03:52In combat, Dragon's finally spent his ability points
03:56And his new abilities better reflect the damage he puts out
04:01Baron's new look is complemented by a redesigned kit
04:05That shows his status as the toughest boss on the Rift
04:08And indicates how much damage he can do
04:11His new abilities and attack pattern should feel less random
04:15Helping teams decide when to fight over this important objective
04:22Please keep in mind that nothing's 100% complete yet
04:25And that there are still months of effort ahead
04:28On PBE, we'll be listening while we make tweaks
04:30Squash bugs and improve performance
04:33By the time the update launches
04:35You can expect near-identical performance on your machine
04:39Along the way, check in at the Summoner's Rift Hub
04:42Where you can share in the evolution of the map
04:44There, the conversation will continue
04:47With dev blogs, Q&As, and patch notes that detail the latest changes
04:51Thanks for tuning in
