00:02Should we go back, take another road?
00:04There's nothing wrong with having a little trust,
00:06especially in times like these.
00:08This is a post-apocalyptic thriller,
00:10but hopefully people are really drawn to the humanity
00:12and the heart inside of the relationships.
00:14One of the most important things in the show
00:16is it's about the goodness inside of people
00:19and the connections, the human stories.
00:22Thank you. Thank you very much.
00:24That's the cornerstone of the entire show.
00:30The show highlights, in extreme circumstances,
00:32there's an instinct to find and galvanize in community.
00:38We're moving out!
00:39Our research showed us that after an apocalyptic event,
00:42there'd be a period of time where it would be very bad.
00:47But the people that would survive
00:49would often be those who work together.
00:54I can't imagine Annie's experience
00:56of not seeing someone for three years
00:59and then suddenly having people in her home,
01:02in her domain.
01:04Link is on a mission,
01:06so he has this incentive to create a community.
01:11Come restart the world with me, Annie.
01:14The connection between Link and Annie
01:16is brief but very intense.
01:23Teddy, come on.
01:24I really want you to come with me.
01:28Xavier and Annie, they sort of have this love story,
01:31but it's not romantic love.
01:33It's more father-daughter than anything else.
01:37Shouldn't be on your feet all the time like that.
01:39When my wife was pregnant, she had this terrible knowledge.
01:42I get it. You knew a pregnant woman once.
01:44They are helping each other accomplish
01:47what they find the most sacred on the planet.
01:51We go find your wife in Atlanta,
01:52and then you'll take me to him in Colorado.
01:57You good?
01:59While it wasn't initially like,
02:01okay, great, we'll have Xavier make a bond with someone
02:03who passes away.
02:05We fell in love with the bond,
02:07and then realized we had to take that away from him.
02:12It's a very intimate thing that we do.
02:15Holding somebody as they give birth,
02:18and then they recognize their own mortality
02:22is draining from them.
02:24Man, the things we're asked to, like, imagine.
02:28So intense.
02:30The most beautiful part of humanity
02:33is when we recognize the humanity in others.
02:36We need community to survive.
02:40Like, we need each other.
02:42And I hope the show is able to emphasize that idea
02:45that together, we are stronger.
