00:56Is start setting him up with a little bit of his personality
00:59And how he's got to show off a little bit
00:59How I'm going to do that first is give him an aspiration
01:02For myself I'm going to go with the knowledge aspiration
01:05And within there I'll take the computer whiz track
01:08That one's working for me
01:10And right along with it came this trait that was paired
01:13The quick learner trait
01:15And that's really going to help me kind of complete that aspiration
01:18And reach my goals in life
01:19And in addition to this pair trait
01:21You also have the ability to pick from a variety of different personality traits as well
01:25Sure, so I have three more I can select from here
01:28And I'll go with geek first
01:31It works for me
01:33And let's see what else I want here
01:35Oh, I hate to say it but I really am a bit of a snob

01:41And one more, maybe a social trait

01:48Well as you guys can see as Grant picks out these traits
01:51It's changing the behavior of a sim
01:53But more importantly it's going to change the way we play the game

02:31Well there's nothing that a bro loves more than hanging out with another bro
02:35So we're going to jump straight into live mode now
02:37And see how our sims' traits and how their emotions change the way we're going to play the game
02:42Now we're going to load into our all new world called Willow Creek
02:45And into one of the specific neighborhoods within that world
02:48Called Magnolia Blossom Park
02:50We're really excited to show it to you guys
02:52And here we are
02:54Looking pretty good
02:56You see some of those angry dudes right there
02:58Yeah, looking pretty angry right now
03:01So Ryan is actually in the very angry emotion state
03:04And this happens to be because he got in a bit of an altercation with another sim earlier
03:09And he's got the steaming mad moodlet
03:12Now you guys know moodlets from The Sims 3
03:14And moodlets are what drive your sims' emotions in The Sims 4
03:18So different moodlets of different intensities and types
03:21Will push your sims into different emotions
03:23Now the best thing about emotions is that you the player have complete control over them
03:28And you can also use them to your benefit
03:31Now Ryan is very angry
03:33I put him into this emotion by getting him into that fight
03:36Now I want to take advantage of the benefits of this emotion
03:39So, Graham, click on the ground right there
03:41And you're going to see that Ryan actually has a set of specific unique interactions
03:46That are tied directly to the way Sim Ryan is feeling
03:49You can see with the color indicators there
03:50Ryan can do peeve push-ups or sit-ups of fury
03:53Because he's feeling that angry
03:55Oh, it looks like a friend has come by
03:57I'll chat with him in a second
03:59I'm going to get you doing some push-ups here
04:00Why don't you send him on this way?
04:02Are you really gray?
04:03They can chat for a moment while you work out
04:06Now this is actually a key point I want to point out
04:08Because Sim Ryan is feeling that angry
04:10He can actually leverage all of that anger
04:13Channel all his distress and pure rage
04:16Into his workout
04:17And build his athletic skill faster than he would if he was feeling fine
04:21So this is just the first example of how you the player
04:24Can take advantage of the way your sims are feeling
04:27And really gain all the benefits from it
04:31Check out that form, man
04:32I've been practicing a little bit
04:33Some good crunches right there

04:35Alright, now let's take a look at Sim Graham here
04:38Now Graham is feeling much different than Ryan
04:40He's actually feeling energized
04:41And this is a result of a brisk shower movement
04:44Because he took a shower this morning
04:46As well as that personality trait we gave him, bro
04:49Bros love hanging with bros
04:51So his personality and his environment is having an effect on the way Sim Graham is feeling
04:56So why don't we click on Ryan here
04:58Ryan still looks pretty peeved
05:00And we can actually see that he's got a unique interaction
05:02Tied to the way that Sim Graham is feeling as well
05:05He can do a hip bump with Ryan
05:07Or give a pep talk
05:08Or even enthuse about his interest
05:10Because Sim Graham is feeling so energized
05:12So grumpy, man
05:13I'm gonna try the pep talk
05:15Maybe boost you up a little bit here
05:16Let's see how this goes

05:50So this is that first look at those lush, vibrant neighborhoods that we've been talking about

07:57I want to talk a bit about these interactions
07:58So, we've discussed the emotion-based interactions
08:02Like the heartfelt compliment
08:03Or being able to brighten his day
08:05But we also have a set of unique interactions
08:08That are tied directly to the personality traits
08:11That we gave to Sim Graham
08:12So, because of who he is on the inside
08:14We get a set of other unique interactions
08:16That are tied directly to his personality
08:19So, it looks like Graham can debate game strategy
08:22Because he's got that good trait
08:22Well, I can tell he's playing chess
08:24He's got kind of a little bit of a nerdy hat on there
08:27So, he might be into a little video games
08:30We'll see how this goes for us
08:34He's a bit of a gamer
08:35Looks like he's debating with us a bit
08:37Having a good time there
08:38He's got some good inside of the game

09:08And have our Sim start working out harder
09:10Than just the push-ups or sit-ups that we did
09:13And this is actually a great opportunity
09:15To show off another neighborhood within this world
09:17And I, you guys, I have to tell you
09:20I'm so excited about these new neighborhoods
09:22Because not only can you travel between neighborhoods
09:24But for the first time ever
09:26You can travel between completely different worlds
09:28All while playing the same save game
09:31Like in The Sims 3
09:32You had to start a new game
09:34Every time you wanted to go to a new world
09:36But in The Sims 4
09:36They're all tied together
09:38You simply travel between neighborhoods
09:39Travel between worlds
09:41And all your gameplay
09:42All of your Sim's feelings and relationships
09:44All persist
09:45It's so much fun
09:46Yeah, and I really love how all that stuff comes along
09:49Because just being able to, you know, hop over to the other area
09:52Find a Sim that I like
09:54And then have a relationship
09:55Bring them back home
09:56I think that's super cool
09:57Yeah, it makes playing so much more fun
09:59So I'll get us going on these workout machines

10:03And you're still angry
10:04So we'll have you do the enraged reps

11:20And this is the magic of our Sims here
11:22Now, Ryan's channeling his personality trait
11:24The active trait to build his skill faster
11:26He's using his very angry emotion state
11:29To work out harder and stronger
11:31And he's taking advantage of his relationship
11:34All to level up faster than Graham
11:36That sucks
11:38Dude, I think

11:57Who my Sim is, their traits, how my Sim is feeling, his emotion, and his relationship

12:08And this is the magic of our Sims here in The Sims 4
12:10Everything you choose about who they are and how they're feeling
12:13All contributes to your gameplay
12:15And it makes playing with your Sims so much more fun

12:48We've got to snazz this place up a bit
12:50This is actually a cool opportunity
12:52Because in The Sims 3 we might place down some more expensive furniture
12:55But in The Sims 4 this is a great chance for us to load up the all new gallery
13:00Now you guys know from The Sims 3 that you can share your content, your creations
13:05Via the Sims 3 exchange
13:06But to do that you had to leave the game
13:09Go to the Sims 3 website
13:11Browse for content that you want
13:12Download it to your computer
13:14Install it through your launcher
13:15And finally start a new game with that content
13:17But in The Sims 4 it's all right here inside of the game
13:20You simply open up the gallery
13:22And bam
13:23You have access to all of the creations
13:26All the content that the Sims community has put together
13:29All right here at your fingertips
13:31Houses, families, individual sims
13:34Can all be direct and integrated directly into your game
13:37With the click of a button
13:38It is amazing you guys
13:40And check out this one I found earlier
13:42I thought this one would be perfect for our party
13:44The Mesa Mansion
13:45You know it
13:46So I'm going to grab it
13:48Just take the furnished version of it
13:49Let's plop it right down in our lot
13:51We'll have a party place good to go
13:52And just like that
13:53We've got an all new house to play with
13:55This is a house, a lot
13:57That somebody else has created out there in the world
14:00And all we have to do is simply integrate it into our game
14:03And now it's a part of our story
14:05And we can do whatever we want with it

14:17Just the traditional way you've always added objects

14:24Is the ability to share and personalize individual rooms
14:28So I saw this Mesa Music Lounge
14:30And I think this is going to be perfect for our party tonight
14:33So I'm just going to grab it
14:34And you'll see instantly it's been added right to my cursor

14:39I can place it anywhere on the lot I want
14:41So I'm going to put it right in the corner there

14:56We've rebuilt it to be hands on and fun to play with
14:59Now you can pick up entire rooms
15:01Move them around the lot
15:02And all that content
15:03All those furnishings go right along with it
15:06In addition, adjusting your dimensions of your house
15:09And creating unique architecture
15:10Is just as easy as drag and dropping
15:13It is so much fun to play with
15:15In The Sims 4, the builder always wins
15:18You can never make a mistake
15:19That you can't easily adjust and fix
15:21Just with the click of a button
15:23Now we've, what I'm really excited about
15:26Is some long standing fan requests
15:29Like the ability to change foundation heights on the fly
15:31Or even adjust the height of your walls
15:34You guys have been asking this for
15:37Asking for this from us since The Sims 1 I think
