00:00Swatiha, Fitri Dina lah ha. Saya seorang Thai Muslim. Saya ingin mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya kepada semua.
00:16For Fitri Dina, a Thai Muslim living in Malaysia, Hari Raya bridges the two cultures that have shaped her life,
00:24even if the traditions aren't exactly the same.
00:27In Thailand, raya celebrations are shorter. Fitri says many people linger at the mosque after Hari Raya prayers to eat
00:35together.
00:36In Thailand, kita beli satu pasang sahaja for Hari Raya, that's all. Then, when I datang Malaysia, my husband cakap,
00:45eh, hari kedua, ada ada baju ke? Hari ketiga, kita tak pakai baju apa? I was like, kenapa banyak saja?
00:52Navigating two cultures has been a meaningful experience for Fitri, who says she has found warmth on both sides of
00:59the border.
01:00Kalau kita pergi sekolah, macam tu, kawan-kawan yang agama Buddha, mereka tahu kita puasa, so they respect nothing lah,
01:08t-shirt, everything dia bagi kita rehat, semua tak ada masalah lah.
01:12She found the same openness during her early days in Malaysia. Today, she even teaches simple Thai and Malay words
01:21on TikTok, connecting the two cultures.
01:24Bila kita belajar bahasa baru, kita akan belajar budaya baru. Kita akan belajar orang baru. From that, we learn to
01:33respect the different. When we learn to respect the different, kita kurang menghukum orang lain.
01:40Indeed, Fitri's journey between Thailand and Malaysia reflects the essence of Hari Raya, that of living together with an open
01:49heart.
