00:30so many people just lost it
00:32and they never ever progressed past medium difficulty.
00:36Now recently I've come to call this Danger Pinky
00:38which potentially could be a great band for Eric's new band.
00:43Now we took this observation
00:45and we created a whole new guitar
00:47that better reflects the way people played naturally
00:49with two rows of three buttons.
00:52So when people start to play the game
00:55at its very easiest level
00:56you're just using the three buttons on the bottom row.
01:00Now this makes it super, super easy to get into
01:03and tons of fun for beginners to get into.
01:07But as you step up through regular, advanced and veteran levels
01:10not only does the gameplay start to use all six buttons
01:13across both rows
01:14but we also start to introduce chord shapes
01:16where you're going to be pressing multiple buttons
01:19from both rows at the same time.
01:21So we were able to make it easier for beginners
01:24but harder for veterans
01:26both with one single, simple innovation.
01:29Now you've probably also noticed
01:31that we've stripped away the Technicolor buttons.
01:34Now trust me, this wasn't an easy decision.
01:36You know, those buttons were iconic.
01:39So when my lead UI designer came up to me
01:41and he's like, Jay, I've got this design
01:43I've taken away the buttons
01:44I was like, whoa, you can't take away the color buttons.
01:48But he was like, no, trust me
01:49you have to play it and see what you think.
01:52And you know what? He was absolutely right.
01:55Because we realized with the new button configuration
01:57all we're trying to tell people is
01:59is it the top row you need to press
02:01or is it the bottom row?
02:02Because there's only three positions for your fingers to be.
02:05You already know where they are
02:07whether it's the left finger, the middle finger
02:10or your right finger.
02:12So associating each button with a different color
02:14was just an extra piece of information
02:16that was kind of getting in the way.
02:18So by removing the colors
02:19we eliminated one thing for your brain to process
02:22and we just found that people naturally played a lot better
02:25and had a ton more fun doing it.
