00:00So this one is the sword master Kenshi missing his headband right so it's pretty
00:06crazy. This variation we brought some of the TK specials from MKDA as well as we
00:13have added some some new ones. This variation you know you can punish a lot
00:19but the range is it's a lot shorter in general than the other two variations.
00:34What is the secret of your powers? My secrets are my own.
00:43So the twist on the short-range anti-air move in this one is the rising sword.
00:49It is you know basically kind of like a sword uppercut type of thing. The EX does a multi-hit
00:55as well.
00:55It's a little bit of a twist that the other ones that the other variations have.
01:00The next up is the Telepush. This is a pretty short to mid-range attack.
01:04It is fairly safe except when you're up close and the EX is on.
01:10The Tele toss is up next. That's a tracking move.
01:13It's his furthest move in this variation but it is very unsafe.
01:18What's really great about this move is to switch it sides with your opponent and the EX version has a
01:24multi-hit.
01:27And finally, not finally I should say, the other variant here is a move from this variant is a Tele
01:33slam.
01:34This is a pretty kind of close to mid-range attack. It's very unsafe.
01:40And the really cool thing about this move is when you perform the EX version of this because it brings
01:46the opponent down stunned so you can go ahead and continue.
01:52Alright, why don't you uh...
01:54He also has the Blade Reflect.
01:55Oh yeah, what can we throw that doesn't work against the shield?
01:58We'll find out.
02:00No!
02:01That's too many hits I've been doing.
02:02Yep.
02:03So what we did today was not show you how the Blade Reflect works.
02:06You're going to have to find that one out.
02:08But there's more!
02:09There's more?
02:10There's more!
02:10Yes.
02:11In this variation he has a spinning blade which is, I love this move, it's probably one of my favorite
02:16specials.
02:18Which is an overhead move, it's pretty cool.
02:21And it's pretty quaint too.
02:22The EX does an extra hit and it also slightly jungles.
02:28Let me give you some meat.
02:29There you go.
02:30So you can do the EX.
02:32Uh, don't, don't get swagged.
02:34Oh!
02:35Oh!
02:36Is it time for a fatality?
02:37It could be!
02:38I guess.
02:38Let's see if Ray can do it.
02:39Yeah, Ray!
02:40This one is awesome!
02:50Oh!
02:52See you later, Kotal!
02:54My face!
02:55Kenshi wins.
02:57Faith comes out!
02:57And that's pretty much it for Kenshi, right?
02:59Yep, right.
03:00So, who are we going to show next, Tyler?
03:02Well, I'm going to take a look.
03:04It's been broken and as a result the spirits that have been trapped within the sword have been
03:11released and kind of possessed Kenshi.
03:13And so he doesn't have any attacks with the sword in this variation at all.
03:17All of them, all of his ranged attacks and that sort of thing come through these demons
03:22that kind of come out from him.
03:23And as you can see the sword on his back is actually cracked into pieces.
03:26So it shows the variation as well.
03:28The visual difference.
03:35You're a scoundrel.
03:38Says the deadbeat dad.
03:40Even for you, that was low.
03:42Round one.
03:43Fire!
03:44No clue what they said.
03:46So, the good thing about this trait is it's all about chunk damage, right?
03:50So, you know, it doesn't have as big strings as he did in the balance trait, let's say.
03:55But in this one, it's all about just big hits, big hits.
03:59So, you know, a spin on the Rising Karma in the previous variation is the sickle lift.
04:05So, again, it's kind of a close range move.
04:08It's a multi-hit on Kinect.
04:10Actually, just a little bit different, but it's kind of its roots and similarities from the variation.
04:15Let me add something real quickly, too.
04:16You talked about how it's more chunk damage and less combo heavy.
04:19I get a lot of tweets where people are like,
04:20is Mortal Kombat X a game that I can play as a casual fan?
04:24And, you know, one of the things that I've kind of started learning about the variations
04:27is there are some variations that might be easier for a casual fan to get used to
04:31if they're not a combo heavy type of person.
04:33Absolutely.
04:34You can learn that one and then kind of move forward as you get better.
04:36Yeah, absolutely.
04:38The next move is the Soul Push.
04:40Again, it's similar to the Spirit Push.
04:43This is a short to mid-range attack.
04:45It's pretty safe if you're from max range.
04:48The cool thing about this move is you gain a lot of distance if you push the guy back.
04:53The EX version, though, if you choose to kind of keep him mid-range, that's really great for that.
05:00The next one up is the Demon Assault.
05:02It does more damage than the Soul Push, but it can definitely be punished easily when you block or miss
05:10it.
05:10Okay.
05:12Next up is the Demon Slam.
05:15This one is a little bit different than the TK size because this one you must block low.
05:21You can also control positioning on this one back forward or, you know, close to the end of the fly.
05:25And actually one of my favorite things about this particular move is that
05:28when you EX it in combo, like here, I get a little lift while I missed it,
05:34but you do actually get an additional chance to juggle, which is pretty cool.
05:39Hey, Ray, you dropped something on stream?
05:40I did drop a combo on stream, man.
05:42Join the club.
05:44So the Blade Reflect is gone in this variant, but he has an alternate move in here,
05:49which is pretty awesome.
05:50I love this move.
05:51It's the Demon Beam.
05:51So this move is, you know, a teleport and it tracks in front of the opponent.
05:59And the cool thing about it is once you kind of teleport, you can, you have control of the character
06:04to perform another attack right there.
06:06So it's great for stringing combos together.
06:08Right.
06:10Uh, also here, he's got a new special in this variant.
06:13It's called the Demonic Strike.
06:15So, uh, this is an overhead special, uh, that's close range.
06:21I'll show it to you right here.
06:25And the EX, uh, does, uh, a knockdown instead and it's, it's got armor.
06:30He also has a, uh, new string in this one, uh, which is, uh, override on his, uh, attack
06:37four towards.
06:38So this one reaches a little bit further and it, uh, I don't know, you must block it.
06:43Hey, does, does, does Kinchy have, does he have an X-ray?
06:46Uh, I don't know.
06:48Let's find out.
06:49Go!
06:56Oh, here we go.
06:57Awesome.
06:57So with this variation, he also gets additional, uh, combos along with the special attacks.
07:02He just, he gets the, the new, uh, the new, um, strings.
07:06That's right, the attack four towards.
07:08Cool.
07:09Alright, so let's go on to the next one.
07:10Yeah.
07:11Alright, let's do it.
07:13Everyone, what's rule number one?
07:16Um.
07:17Don't talk during the string.
07:19Uh, during the, uh, intros.
07:20The intros.
07:21Very important.
07:22No talking at all during the string.
07:23Yeah.
07:24Never lose the belt.
07:25Never lose the belt once you win it.
07:26Well, we're going to see what happens there.
07:27And people did want to see a Kenshi Takeda match up.
07:30So they can see how they interact.
07:31So let's go ahead and do that.
07:33Takeda.
07:33Alright.
07:36Ooh, look at that new background.
07:38No.
07:38We'll hold off on that.
07:39We'll hold off on that.
07:40Alright.
08:12So, uh, in this variation of balance, Kenshi, uh, is a little bit of a different character,
08:20uh, as far as his common special goes.
08:22He's got five common specials that are themed slightly different in each variant.
08:27So, uh, we'll look at the balance first.
08:29Right away you can see that, uh, if you're familiar with MK9, the spirit is back, uh, for
08:34a lot of his specials here.
08:35So, the big, uh, plus for this variation is you can do, uh, uh, some really big damage
08:41from stringing together with large combos.
08:44So, his first, uh, special that we'll look at is the Rising Karma.
08:49So, this is a really good, uh, close-range anti-air attack.
08:53And the EX does an extra hit on, on, uh, connect.
08:57It's also a great move.
08:58You can actually string after a combo, too.
09:00Absolutely right.
09:01Which race hit you with six or seven hundred times.
09:04Just block, guys.
09:05That's all I gotta do.
09:06This next one is a Spirit Push in this variation.
09:09Uh, it's, it's really good for close to mid-range.
09:12Uh, it has a pretty big hitbox.
09:13And, uh, you cannot duck it.
09:15And it tracks, too, right?
09:16Yeah, absolutely.
09:17Awesome.
09:18But this one doesn't track.
09:20No, this one.
09:20No.
09:20Okay.
09:21No, no, no.
09:23Yeah, you're right.
09:26Uh, you gotta make sure you hit on connect on this one for the, uh,
09:30The next one up is the Teleflurry.
09:32This one's a tracking move.
09:33Uh, it is duckable, however.
09:35And if you miss it, or you block it, it has a pretty long delay.
09:39So, it is kind of, uh, semi-punchable.
09:41Uh, but it is very good for an anti-air, depending on how close it is.
09:46Can we hold on for one second?
09:48That move's duckable.
09:50That's right.
09:50Why have I not been ducking that move?
09:52I was wondering the same thing.
09:54I didn't know!
09:55Alright, keep going, Pete.
09:58Everybody's learning.
09:58Yeah.
09:59He also has, uh, the TK slice.
10:02Now, uh, this one you must block high.
10:05And, uh, you can control the position on this one, so you can, uh, there's three different,
10:09uh, ranges, close, medium, and far, so you can dictate where you put it.
10:14Uh, the EX has an extra hit on connect, and it knocks the opponent down.
10:18So, also, like, some good zoning tools from Kenshi.
10:21Absolutely.
10:21He's really good at far, and then when he gets up close, also.
10:25Exactly.
10:26And in this variant, uh, he gets, uh, the blade reflect.
10:30So, this, uh, reflects projectiles, and, uh, EX1 absorbs it.
10:35Which we'll have to show later.
10:36Yeah.
10:37Cause I didn't take somebody to throw a projectile.
10:39My bad.
10:40Throw your whip.
10:41Yeah.
10:41Reflect that, sir.
10:44Awesome.
10:45Uh, move on to, are we ready to go to the next one?
10:46Yeah.
10:47Do you want to see a throw, or do you want to move?
10:48Yeah, let's do a throw.
10:49Alright.
10:49Sure.
10:49So, just kinda, just go crazy for a bit, Ray.
10:54Do some of your fun stuff.
10:59There we go.
11:00There we go.
11:01It's like you've been practicing.
11:04Alright, so let's go on to the next one.
11:05Yeah.
11:06The next one is going to be the...
