The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Video anteprima del gameplay - Parte 2.
Trascrizione
00:03In the first part of this preview series, we looked at the world of The Witcher Wild Hunt.
00:10We talked about how it looked, how it sounded, and how it felt to move around in this incredibly large
00:18and really open world.
00:21But now it's time to talk about how the game plays, how you develop your character, how you handle your
00:28inventory,
00:28and all the various ways in which you interact with this world.
00:41One of the features of any game that is often overlooked is the user interface.
00:48But the user interface is actually a key component.
00:51It is critical that the user interface be easy to use, informative, and above all, does not intrude on the
01:01game.
01:01And The Witcher 3 does a very good job there.
01:05It was reasonably easy to navigate using a controller, but I do suspect it will be even easier with a
01:12mouse.
01:13It looks very well designed for a mouse.
01:16And it has all of the usual things you would expect in an RPG.
01:21For example, we've already seen the map.
01:23There is an inventory and it's pretty solid.
01:27It's quite minimalistic, but it gives you all of the information you need.
01:31You have a fairly straightforward and unsurprising quest log.
01:36And, of course, the very important glossary.
01:40Now, people who are new to The Witcher experience may find that surprising.
01:43But The Witcher games are very, very rich in lore.
01:48You don't have to read these entries, but it really does enhance the experience.
01:54There is also the best three.
01:56This is very important.
01:58This is something you are really going to have to use a lot, especially on the tougher difficulties.
02:03It gives you a lot of information about the creatures that you are hunting.
02:09Their habits, the way they will attack, their weaknesses.
02:13And it's very, very well laid out.
02:16It gives the information both pictorially and in text form.
02:21So, this is something you will be falling back on very, very often.
02:26If you're going to play The Witcher games, know your enemy.
02:29The heads-up display is fairly good.
02:33Well laid out.
02:34And you can actually turn things on and off.
02:37It's very customizable.
02:38My only complaint about it is the health bar for the creatures floats above their head.
02:46Now, in Witcher 1, it was like a circle around the creature's feet.
02:50And I quite liked that because it was less in your face.
02:53This one, this game, it might be quite difficult because you spend a lot of time with grass around your
02:59feet.
02:59So, maybe that's why they've got the bars floating above.
03:02But I found it a little distracting.
03:05And so, I tried playing with it turned off.
03:08And you can play with it turned off.
03:10However, if you're using a controller, you do need to lock onto your target quite a lot.
03:15And you don't get any indication of what target you've locked onto until your character turns to him.
03:22So, it's a little tougher to play that way.
03:25Um, this is one of those areas where I imagine mods could actually be a great thing.
03:31Just, just to be able to move that health bar somewhere else or remove the health bar but allow the
03:37locked symbol to remain.
03:39Just to give you that little extra feedback.
03:42Now, of course, one of the more important aspects of any RPG is the character development aspect.
03:49Your skills and your abilities.
03:52And this is true for The Witch of the Wild Hunt.
03:55However, the character system, the development system for this game is going to be a lot more...
04:04Well, it's going to insist that you make some hard choices.
04:08If you're the sort of person who wants to maximize absolutely every skill and every aspect, I'm afraid this is
04:16going to hurt.
04:18This game is about choices and the development of your character is very much about making those choices.
04:25The main approach to storytelling is reflected in game design.
04:30Like, choices in character development will matter a lot.
04:33And it's not just carelessly sorting out a bunch of skill points knowing that in the end I'm going to
04:38be good at everything.
04:39No, you will not. You will excel at something and you will pick those choices based on what you experience
04:46in the game and how you play the games.
04:48Now, there are a number of different skill trees. You've got your combat, your alchemy, your signs, your general skills
04:58and so on.
04:59And in each of those areas, there are multiple skills. Some of which you can put multiple levels into.
05:06However, you can only ever have twelve skills active at one time and that's once you've unlocked them.
05:15Your abilities seem linked to your mutagens. So, the thing that makes you different as a Witcher is the fact
05:22that you are a mutant.
05:24And your abilities are linked to those mutations. Certain mutagens enhance certain types of skills more than others.
05:32So, a mutagen might be better when used with combat skills, your red skills. So, you'll need a red mutagen
05:40for red skills.
05:42If you don't, if you put potion skills in your, on your red mutagen slot, you will not gain as
05:50many bonuses and so on.
05:53Now, you unlock more mutagen slots as you go along and you can decide which mutagens you have.
05:59You could actually go for all potion mutagens or all combat ones and so on.
06:06But you're probably going to be trying to get a mix that varies with your play style.
06:12It will actually have a pretty hard hit on how you will have access to victories and triumphant fights.
06:20So, these choices and consequences will be equally hard to make as the choices you make in the game advancing
06:26the story.
06:27I walk silent from the woods. No griffin can hear me nor spy me.
06:33Now, don't worry too much. You can change the mutagens. You can change the skills that you have selected.
06:40You can select and pick them and even apply different skills.
06:44Like, you have a limited amount of skill slots that you can use your developed skills in.
06:49So, you can kind of change and apply them according to what hardship or challenge you will be facing.
06:56And again, it's all going to depend on the difficulty you play at.
06:59If you're playing at the easy difficulty, you can probably just throw skills wherever you want on all the skills
07:05you think sound the coolest.
07:07Select those, run off, and you'll do fine.
07:09If you're playing at the tough difficulties, you're going to have to play to your strengths.
07:15This skill system is actually not complicated. It's pretty easy to grasp. It's very streamlined.
07:22But it does demand that you make choices. Hard choices.
07:28And, of course, every fan of the Witcher knows that really is one of the core concepts for this game.
07:38Alchemy and potions have always been a big part of the Witcher experience.
07:43And this is continued in the Wild Hunt.
07:46The initial creation of a potion now requires alcohol, as it did in the first game.
07:52And it may require some other components and, of course, ingredients.
07:56But it usually requires more ingredients than in the previous games.
08:01So, for example, with Swallow, I needed five flowers and four Drowner Brains.
08:08However, once I've made the potion, I have a potion that has three doses.
08:14And I can use those in combat and hotkey it and use them until it's run out.
08:20But the bottle does not disappear.
08:23Your potions are refilled every time you meditate using alcohol you find all over the world.
08:29And you will find plenty like people like to drink in the World of the Wild Hunt.
08:33So this means you're more willing to actually use your potions if you've got a good supply of alcohol.
08:40The potions themselves have got a variety of different side effects and negatives.
08:46So you might take a potion to enhance your swordplay, but it might well negatively affect your signs and so
08:52on.
08:53But there may be another potion that counters that.
08:55Of course, now you have to worry about toxicity.
08:58Unless you've got the abilities that reduce toxicity and allow you to become a bit of an alchemy specialist.
09:05And so on.
09:07Now with the limited playtime I've had, I can't really say how this works over the long time.
09:14If you really do increase your skills in this area.
09:17But it did feel a little more streamlined.
09:20It did feel a little more fluid the way I used the potions.
09:24And of course, it did take a little longer before I actually got some of the useful potions.
09:29Because it does require a little more to create them initially.
09:34Overall, I think it's an improvement on the previous systems.
09:37But I'm going to have to play it a lot more to really get to grips with it.
09:43Combat in a game such as the Wild Hunt is obviously very important.
09:48And I can tell you that the combat system is very similar to the second game.
09:52It seems to be an iteration of the same system.
09:57It's very much about timing and footwork.
10:00You will need to parry at the right moment.
10:02You will need to dodge, roll, flank your opponent.
10:06Because some opponents are, well, most opponents take more damage if you hit them at the back.
10:10Some will almost require it.
10:12And so on.
10:13It's very much about being good at movement and timing your attacks.
10:19Oh, and try not to judge the combat by what you're seeing on screen.
10:23I am not good using a controller.
10:27And unfortunately, we were forced to use one for this particular session.
10:32Because they had not managed to optimize the game for mouse and keyboard at this point.
10:37And I just do not use a controller, so I was particularly bad at it.
10:41Most of the people were much better than I.
10:44I ended up having to play the game on normal difficulty to be able to, to play.
10:49And it probably looks a little clumsy when done by me.
10:53That is me, not the game.
10:55I suspect, had I had a mouse and keyboard, it would have looked a lot nicer and a lot more
10:59impressive.
11:01One cool new feature is the crossbow, which was pretty cool.
11:05I'm not sure how well this will integrate into combat.
11:08But I have heard rumors that it works really well with some signs.
11:13So, I'm looking forward to testing that far more when I actually do a full playthrough.
11:18You can use potions and even things like food, items and that type of thing.
11:24You can hotkey them to be used during combat.
11:27You can use your signs during combat. Obviously, they can be hotkeyed.
11:32And in general, you will probably be using those unless you're playing on the easiest difficulty.
11:38If you're playing it on the hard difficulty, I have a feeling you really are going to have to use
11:43everything at your disposal.
11:46And you're probably going to have to do quite a lot of preparation.
11:50On the tougher difficulties, the combat is going to be challenging.
11:55This is not a game where you're just going to be running around, hacking and slashing things quickly,
12:01unless they are so much weaker than you.
12:04If you're facing similar level creatures, you're going to need to prepare.
12:08And when you fight them, you're going to need to fight them well.
12:12You're going to need to use the right moves, the right potions, the right signs, and so on.
12:17But, of course, it's going to very much depend on the difficulty that you choose.
12:22If you play on easy difficulty, you'll probably be able to have a casual experience and just enjoy the game
12:29and not worry too much about the fighting.
12:31If you play on the hard difficulties, you really, really are going to be, well, it's a much more unforgiving
12:38combat system than many other games.
12:41You're probably going to need to read up the best theory for that particular creature.
12:46You're probably going to have to make sure you've got the right potions ready.
12:50And just, in general, prepare yourself for the fight you know is coming.
12:55But whilst the game does encourage you to make these preparations, if you're playing on the tougher difficulties,
13:02to take the fight seriously, it actually does a few cool things to make it a little more streamlined.
13:10So, for example, you won't have to worry too much about which weapon you're using.
13:15You will be able to see, judging by the health bar of the creature, whether you should use a normal
13:21steel sword or the silver sword.
13:23Because, if it's a silver health bar, it's a silver sword.
13:26And, in fact, if you don't have a weapon out when you are attacked, Gedult will automatically take the correct
13:34weapon out.
13:35So that, you know, you don't have to think about things like that.
13:38Which, of course, is reasonable. Gedult should know this.
13:41That doesn't mean you're forced to use that weapon.
13:45You can switch, and occasionally, occasionally, you may even have to.
13:51So we listened to all of those feedbacks and tried to present you something.
13:56Again, getting back to the previous subject, that does not break your immersion, your adventures.
14:01You get to be the character displayed on the screen and not worry about things like,
14:06I have to press a shortcut on the keyboard, whatever. No, I'm going to pull my sword, I'm going to
14:10defeat enemies,
14:11I'm going to save that person from trouble, or I'm going to make choices.
14:14This is what you'll care about, and nothing else.
14:17So everything, every little change, every iteration, every improvement we did was in favour for this.
14:23So you will get an adventure, and not only a video game.
14:26In the end, it's going to come down to you.
14:29If you want a more casual experience where you focus more on the story than the individual fights,
14:37then play on the easy difficulty.
14:39But if you want a more hardcore experience where you really have to prepare,
14:45you really have to know your enemy, and make sure you have everything right before you go into combat,
14:50play on one of the tougher difficulties, the game will give you that hardcore Witcher experience.
14:57Now, of course, I have not covered every single mechanic, every single aspect of how the game plays.
15:04There are plenty of things that I'm just going to let you discover yourself,
15:08and, if I'm going to be completely honest, there are some things I really didn't pay too much attention to
15:14myself.
15:15So, for example, the different items, how they stack against each other,
15:20I didn't really discover very many new swords or armours.
15:25I did notice a crafting system, but I never really got to try it.
15:30Although, I can tell you, your sword and armour will break.
15:34You will have to take them to a repair, to a blacksmith,
15:38and if you don't, you're going to be running around with broken items,
15:41and that will definitely hurt you in combat.
15:45There is nothing worse than meeting a level 9 ghoul when you are level 3,
15:49and your silver sword has broken.
15:52Trust me, not a situation you want to be in.
15:56Even when playing on the easy levels, that is going to be a recipe for disaster,
16:01and if you are interested, I believe most of the footage in this video
16:06was taken at the second to top difficulty.
16:11The, the, not the easiest, but the next easiest.
16:14So, you could see how, you know, uncomfortable I was with the controller.
16:18I'm probably going to play it on at least one difficulty higher when I play for myself,
16:24and I'm expecting it to be quite tough.
16:27But, that is it for this video.
16:29In part 3 of this series, I'm going to move on to an even more important subject.
16:35To probably the most critical subject of all.
16:39The story. The quests. The people that you meet, and the conversations that you have with them.
16:46And I will also be discussing a card game.
16:51Yes. There's a card game.
16:54And, believe it or not, I may have found a mini game I quite like.
17:09People are going to be asking, who are you and what have you done with Gopher?
17:15Yeah. I liked a mini game.
17:20And, if you have one last video.
17:20So, if I had a mini game, I'd be asking, would I check or need them from them!
