Senator Chuck Schumer has sharply criticized Donald Trump, blaming his Iran war policies for the surge in gas prices across the United States. As fuel costs climb toward $4 per gallon, the political battle over responsibility intensifies.

Schumer argues that escalating tensions in the Middle East, driven by the ongoing conflict with Iran, are directly impacting global oil markets and increasing costs for American consumers. The remarks come as families across the U.S. face rising expenses at the pump.

The debate highlights growing concerns over energy prices, foreign policy decisions, and their impact on everyday life. With the situation in the Middle East continuing to evolve, experts warn that gas prices could remain volatile in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on U.S. politics, the Iran conflict, and how global events are affecting fuel prices worldwide.

00:00On Iran.
00:05Thanks to Donald Trump's war with Iran, gas prices are now nearing $4 a gallon.
00:12Experts predict that this weekend, gasoline will cross the $4 threshold, the $4 a gallon threshold.
00:20In just the last month, gas prices have gone up by $1 a gallon.
00:26Brent crude is hovering around $108 a barrel, much higher than it's been.
00:31And Donald Trump has the gall to say the prices are not that bad.
00:35You hear that, America?
00:37Donald Trump is telling you $4 gas is not that bad.
00:40What bubble does he live in?
00:42How often does he fill up his car with gasoline?
00:46When Donald Trump says that the prices are not that bad, who's he kidding?
00:52He's speaking like a billionaire.
00:54America is being led into war by Mary Antoinette.
00:59And then Kevin Hassett, the top economic advisor to Trump, says Americans' pain is the least, quote,
01:06the least of our concern right now.
01:08Can you believe this?
01:10The highest economic advisor in the Trump administration says Americans' pain is the least of our concerns right now.
01:18If there's anything that shows how out of touch Donald Trump and his minions are out of touch, that's it,
01:26right there.
01:27Trump and his acolytes are unbelievable.
01:30They are so clueless.
01:32They're in a bubble.
01:34Meanwhile, the war with Iran is expanding.
01:38Iranian strikes on Qatar's energy structure have knocked out 17% of the country's LNG export capacity.
01:46Qatar Energy says two LNG trains could be sidelined for three to five years.
01:52A staggering blow to global energy markets.
01:56In other words, even if this war ended tomorrow, and there are no signs it's anywhere close to ending,
02:02the damage Donald Trump has unleashed will take a long, long time to fix.
02:07Meanwhile, the war in the Middle East is expanding, not shrinking.
02:11Donald Trump is sending additional warships and thousands of Marines to the region.
02:17He refuses to fully rule out both boots on the ground,
02:21a step that would mean more American casualties and even higher costs than he now projects.
02:26And this week, the administration was floating a funding request of more than $200 billion.
02:33$200 billion to finance this open-ended war.
02:39No way. That will never happen.
02:42It's a preposterous and dangerous risk.
02:45We should never accept giving Donald Trump a blank check to wage war in Iran in perpetuity.
02:52Even a fraction of the $200 billion is unacceptable for a war without a plan,
02:58without an endgame, without the support of the American people.
03:03And, of course, the money could be used for so much better,
03:06reducing Americans' costs on health care and on housing and on electricity and on daycare.
03:13So much could be done with that money instead of a war that Donald Trump has chosen to wage
03:20without even a vote in Congress.
03:24Meanwhile, Trump continues to vilify and bash our closest allies,
03:28even as he publicly asks for their help.
03:31Today, he called NATO a paper tiger
03:35and called our allies cowards.
03:37How does he expect to form a coalition which he says he needs
03:41if he's just going to spend his time calling them names, calling our allies names?
03:46The damage Donald Trump is doing to our alliances will last a long time and is sickening.
03:51He has spent years trashing our allies, insulting them, threatening NATO, undermining the very alliances
03:58that have kept us strong for generations.
04:01And now, suddenly, after Trump has dragged the United States into a war that is not going his way,
04:07he turns around and asks those same allies to jump in and help.
04:12What world does he live in?
04:14And when the allies don't immediately leap into this open-ended conflict
04:18in the way Donald Trump wants, what does he do?
04:21He calls them cowards.
04:24Donald Trump's leadership is pathetic.
04:27Pathetic.
04:28The war needs to come to an end now.
04:30The American people have had enough.
