00:00Growing up as a kid in the Bay Area, I used to dread when the mailman would come by
00:05because I knew that every month you'd get that utility bill.
00:10And I'd look at my mom, who would work as many jobs as she could during the day
00:14to bring home as many groceries as possible at night,
00:17and I'd try and read her face because I knew that if it was too high,
00:21that the power could get shut off, and that had happened.
00:25So I'm running for governor because in our state,
00:28people are scared and prices are high.
00:30They're scared because we have an administration that has declared war on our state,
00:35and it's pulled funding particularly that has sought to bring down greenhouse gas emissions
00:40and lower costs through clean energy deployments of technology.
00:45I will be a fighter protector every single day for Californians,
00:49the way I have done in Congress over the last 10 years.
00:53We will make those investments in wind, in solar, in storage across the state,
00:58and I'm going to do it as a day one Democrat.
01:01I will recognize the urgency of this issue,
01:03and my most important job is to bring down the costs.
