00:41because if there's one thing he knows how to do,
00:43it's conserve energy.
00:48During his event yesterday in Kentucky,
00:50President Trump said that he personally chose
00:52the name Operation Epic Fury
00:54from a list of about 20 options.
00:56Oh, was it a list of your symptoms?
01:00Let's see.
01:01Aberration slurred speech.
01:03I don't think that's right.
01:05Aberration setting napping.
01:07No, that's not right.
01:08Oh, Fury. I like that.
01:09Epic Fury.
01:11During the same event,
01:12President Trump praised a group of attendees
01:14who have gone to hundreds of his rallies,
01:16said in aid,
01:17that's your Secret Service.
01:21President Trump also said
01:23that he went to the Wharton School of Finance
01:26and added,
01:26that means I'm real smart.
01:30I don't know.
01:31I think if you were,
01:32you'd know the word very.
01:36During yesterday's rally,
01:38boxer and social media influencer Jake Paul
01:40said that President Trump taught him
01:42to, quote,
01:42never back down from a fight,
01:44even if they're much bigger than you,
01:45or even if they're old enough
01:47to be your grandpa.
01:51President Trump was set to speak today
01:53at a Women's History Month event,
01:55and long story short,
01:56now Carmen Electra is on the $20 bill.
02:01While speaking yesterday
02:03at an infrastructure summit,
02:04Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said,
02:06quote,
02:07you should be able to have
02:08your 14-year-old daughter
02:09get on a metro train in New York City
02:11at 7 o'clock at night and feel safe,
02:13and there's no way in hell
02:15I would ever put my daughter
02:16on the MTA in New York.
02:18Well, here's one
02:19if you want to be safe on the subway.
02:21Don't call it the metro train.
02:25That's how they know
02:26you're from out of town.
02:28You're like,
02:29oh, the metro train!
02:30Say goodbye to your wallet.
02:33Pizza Hut announced yesterday
02:35that it's hiring a first-of-its-kind
02:37official hut crust connoisseur
02:40who will taste and review
02:42the chain's pizza crusts,
02:43and don't worry,
02:44they found someone
02:45with years of experience.
02:49A triceratops skeleton
02:51will go up for auction next week
02:53and is expected to sell
02:54for more than $4 million.
02:55No!
02:56Said Nick Cage's accountant.
02:59But I want it!

03:18I've got a tattoo now, you know,
03:20so that's an attack on me.
03:23I have a matching tattoo with Dua Lipa.
03:25Long story.
03:27True story, but a long one.
03:30That's right.
03:31Chipotle is set tomorrow
03:32to offer customers with tattoos
03:33buy one, get one free entrees
03:35from 3 to 4 p.m.
03:36You gotta be kidding me.
03:38Said the guy behind Post Malone.
03:40That was a monologue, everybody!
03:45We've got a great show for you tonight.
03:47She's a fantastic actress.
03:48You know her from
03:48Schmigging Dune and Pushing Daisies,

04:16which is in theaters April 17th.
04:18Tom Blythe!
04:19Tom Blythe!
04:20Tom Blythe!
04:23Tom Blythe, excuse me,
04:24will also be joining us.
04:25I think it's because I could...
04:26Wasteman or Wasteman?
04:29Yeah, I know.
04:30I was in my head
04:31because I think I said that wrong
04:32and then I was like,
04:33I think I said that wrong
04:34and then I blew Tom Blythe's name.
04:36We're off to a hot start, guys.
04:40You know what it really is?
04:41I'm thinking about the time
04:41I got a tattoo with Dua Lipa.
04:46The Trump administration,
04:47Republicans say the Iran war
04:49is both a short excursion
04:50and a longer war
04:51and it's pretty much complete
04:53and it's also just beginning
04:54and high oil prices
04:55are a sacrifice we have to make
04:56but also oil prices are coming down
04:58and also high oil prices
05:00are actually a good thing
05:01and we already won
05:01but we might have to stay
05:02for four days
05:03or five weeks
05:03or six months
05:04to open the Strait of Hormuz
05:06for oil tankers
05:07because if it stays closed
05:08oil prices that are coming down
05:09will go up
05:10and we'll lose the war
05:10we've already won.
05:12Sure makes sense to me.
05:13For more on this,
05:14it's time for a closer look.
05:19A majority of Americans
05:21say the Trump administration
05:22has not clearly explained
05:24the goal of war with Iran
05:25but that's frustrating to me
05:27because it just proves
05:28you haven't been listening.
05:29The Trump administration
05:30has been clear from the beginning
05:32that the goal of the war
05:32is stopping Iran
05:33from obtaining a nuclear weapon
05:35or it's about regime change
05:36or it's about freedom
05:37for the Iranian people
05:38or it's about destroying
05:39their ballistic missile factories
05:41or it's because Iran
05:42posed an imminent threat
05:43or it's because Israel
05:44made us do it
05:45or it's because this whole time
05:46Lindsey Graham
05:47has been a trickster god
05:49sent here to sow chaos
05:51by convincing Trump
05:52to go to war.
05:53That's right, everyone.
05:54I've been a Loki
05:55this whole time.
06:00And my Meemaw's a frost giant.
06:06That's the beauty
06:07of Trump's strategy.
06:08You get to choose.
06:08Pick whatever reason you want.
06:10He's just a waiter
06:11walking around the party
06:12offering hors d'oeuvres
06:13except the hors d'oeuvres
06:15are crazy.
06:16Would you like
06:16a pig in a slanket?
06:18It tastes the same
06:18but the sleeves
06:19make it look disconcerting.
06:22Same go for the timeline.
06:24Everyone's been harping
06:25on the man
06:25asking him boring questions
06:27like how long
06:27is this war going to take.
06:29I don't know.
06:30He's giving you
06:30a bunch of different options.
06:32Just pick one.
06:33He told Axios
06:34this war could end
06:34in two to three days
06:35with a deal.
06:36Then he told the New York Times
06:38four to five weeks of fighting.
06:40Politico now reports
06:41the State Department
06:41is thinking at least
06:42100 days
06:43maybe even through September.
06:44So it could last
06:45two to three days
06:46or it could last
06:47four to five weeks
06:48or it could last
06:48until September.
06:49You sound like my doctor
06:51after I ate a bottle
06:52of knockoff Viagra.
06:55Could be a couple of hours.
06:56It could be a year
06:57but on the bright side
06:58you won't have to put down
06:59your groceries
07:00to open the door.
07:07So the president
07:08is letting you choose
07:09your own adventure
07:09when it comes to how long
07:10this war will take
07:11but if you really
07:12want to be a stick in the mud
07:13and demand an answer
07:14here you go.
07:15Just moments ago
07:16President Donald Trump
07:17told CBS this.
07:18Quote,
07:18I think the war
07:20is very complete
07:21pretty much.
07:22Don't use
07:23very
07:24and then pretty much
07:26right after it
07:27because they contradict
07:27each other.
07:28If your friend
07:29wanted to set you up
07:30on a date
07:30and you said
07:31is he hot
07:31and she said
07:32very you're excited.
07:33If she says
07:34pretty much
07:35you're
07:36going to have
07:37some follow-ups
07:38but there you have it.
07:40For you whiny
07:40crybabies
07:41demanding answers
07:42the president said it
07:43the war
07:43is very complete
07:45which I assume means
07:46we'll be wrapping
07:47this baby up
07:47any day now.
07:48What I want your viewers
07:49to understand is
07:50this is only
07:50just the beginning.
07:51I will admit
07:52it's not great
07:53that the guy
07:53who runs the Pentagon
07:54sounds like
07:55the Joker
07:55after he gets arrested.
07:58This is only
07:58just the beginning
07:59Batman.
08:01Alright so there's
08:02a little confusion
08:03a little crosstalk
08:04some mixed messages
08:05it happens in war
08:06I'm sure the commander
08:07in chief can clear
08:07this up.
08:08Mr. President
08:09you've said the war
08:10is quote very complete
08:11but your defense secretary
08:12says this is just
08:13the beginning
08:13so which is it
08:14and how long
08:15should Americans
08:16be prepared
08:16I think you could
08:17say it both.
08:17Both?
08:19So what?
08:20Suddenly you're
08:21into eastern philosophy?
08:23You know
08:24the end
08:24is also the beginning
08:26we exist in the space
08:27between nothing
08:28and everything
08:29we are with
08:30and without
08:30now
08:31if you'll excuse me
08:32I have a meeting
08:33with Walton Goggins.
08:36Alright so the war
08:36is both beginning
08:37and ending
08:38doesn't really add up
08:39but don't worry
08:40the president
08:40is a genius marketer
08:42and he has a new word
08:43to describe the war
08:44that will put
08:44any questions
08:46about the timeline
08:47and the seriousness
08:48of the missions to rest.
08:50We did an excursion
08:51you know what an excursion is?
08:52We had to take
08:53a little trip
08:54to get rid of some evil
08:55very evil people
08:57so we had to take
08:58an excursion
08:59well we're looking
08:59to keep the oil prices down
09:01we went artificially up
09:02because of this
09:04excursion
09:04into a very positive thing
09:06I mean this was
09:07an excursion
09:08that a lot of people
09:09wouldn't have done.
09:09I mean I think
09:10I know what happened here
09:11Trump was calling it a war
09:12which is very unpopular
09:13so someone on his team
09:14told him to call it
09:15an incursion
09:16but his brain is oatmeal
09:17so he heard excursion
09:21and no one corrected him
09:22but an excursion
09:24did you see it
09:25on a brochure
09:26at the rental car place
09:27between snorkeling
09:28and cave tours?
09:30A war is not an excursion
09:33an excursion
09:34is apple picking
09:35which we all know
09:36is worse than a war.
09:39An excursion
09:40is when you go
09:40whale watching
09:41in the Bahamas
09:41or when you take
09:42a boat trip
09:42to Epstein's island
09:43which he didn't do
09:45I want to be clear
09:46Trump did not go
09:47to the island
09:47in the over 5,000
09:48Epstein files
09:49that referenced
09:49Donald Trump
09:50not one of them
09:51said he went
09:51to the island
09:52okay
09:52all he did
09:53was fly on Epstein's
09:54plane eight times
09:55and called him
09:55a terrific guy
09:56and sent him
09:56a lewd birthday card
09:57and Epstein called him
09:58his closest friend
09:59for 10 years
09:59and they partied
10:00together at Mar-a-Lago
10:01oh god I'm sorry
10:02that was supposed
10:03to be redacted
10:04can you show
10:04the footage
10:05approved by the DOJ
10:06there you go
10:09point is
10:09the president says
10:10it's just an excursion
10:11previously he said
10:12it was a war
10:13let's give him
10:14another shot
10:14to explain the
10:15contradictions
10:15you've had time
10:16to work on a new answer
10:18I'm sure
10:18you've got something new
10:19something way better
10:20than saying
10:21it's both
10:22let's hear it
10:22take two
10:23you just said
10:24it is a little excursion
10:26and you said
10:27it is a war
10:28so which one is it
10:29well it's both
10:30oh
10:32dude you already
10:33said that
10:33it didn't work
10:34you would be
10:34the worst
10:35wheel of fortune contestant
10:38Pat I'd like to solve
10:40the answer is
10:40self potato
10:42I'm sorry Mr. President
10:44that's incorrect
10:44but you do get
10:45a second chance
10:46okay got it
10:47are you ready Pat
10:48the answer is
10:49self potato
10:51I'm sorry Mr. President
10:52the answer was
10:53self portrait
10:53well in my case
10:54Pat it's both
10:55because when I do
10:56a self portrait
10:56it looks like
10:57a self potato
11:00they say every baby
11:01looked like
11:02Winston Churchill
11:02every potato
11:03looks like me
11:05so Trump's answer
11:07is this is both
11:08the beginning
11:08and the end
11:09it's both
11:10an excursion
11:11and a war
11:11what's the status
11:13of this war
11:13slash excursion
11:14that's both
11:15ending and beginning
11:16I have to assume
11:16it's going awesome
11:17right
11:18Iran is escalating
11:19its attacks
11:20on oil supplies
11:21striking two tankers
11:22in Iraqi waters
11:23and forcing Iraq
11:24to shut down
11:25its oil ports
11:26just last night
11:27two oil tankers
11:28were hit in Iraqi waters
11:30and earlier this morning
11:32a container ship
11:33off the United Arab Emirates
11:34reported being struck
11:36new images this morning
11:37of oil tankers
11:38on fire
11:38in the Persian Gulf
11:40as Iran attacked
11:41vessels near Iraq
11:42in the Strait of Hormuz
11:43oil today
11:44topped $100 a barrel
11:46and an Iranian official
11:47said the price
11:48could eclipse $200
11:49analysts say
11:51this is the worst
11:52global energy supply
11:53disruption ever
11:54they have to keep
11:55the Strait of Hormuz
11:56open
11:56yes
11:57if they can't
11:58keep it open
11:59this war will in fact
12:00be an American defeat
12:02before very long
12:03well this is the worst
12:05excursion I've ever been on
12:07and when I was little
12:08I was with my family
12:08at Busch Gardens
12:09when a hurricane hit
12:10and when we got on
12:11the parking lot shuttle
12:11we realized we left
12:12my brother behind
12:13and my dad blamed my mom
12:15and my mom blamed my dad
12:16and I just told him
12:17there's nothing you can do
12:18he's gone
12:21and then we
12:21went back and got him
12:23but
12:23it all worked out
12:24because now he's
12:25the governor of California
12:28so ports are closed
12:29ships are on fire
12:30gas prices are soaring
12:32and even Republicans
12:33are warning
12:33the U.S. could lose the war
12:35it all sounds really bad
12:36I have to assume
12:37the commander-in-chief
12:38has a plan
12:39to fix this situation
12:40we've won
12:41let me say
12:42we've won
12:43you know
12:44you never like to say
12:45too early you won
12:46we won
12:46we won the best
12:47in the first hour
12:48it was over
12:49but we won
12:50well
12:50thankfully
12:51declaring premature victory
12:53has never haunted
12:54a president before
12:56Trump should have a banner
12:57at his next rally
12:58that says
12:59excursion excurplished
13:02although I wouldn't
13:03necessarily trust
13:04Trump's judgment
13:04on whether the war
13:05is won or lost
13:06since he seems
13:06less interested
13:08in a plan for the war
13:09and more interested
13:10in the name
13:11they gave me a list
13:12of names
13:12and said
13:13sir you can pick
13:14the name you'd like
13:15sir
13:16I said
13:17the name of what
13:18the name of the attack
13:20on Iran sir
13:21and they gave me
13:22like 20 names
13:23and I'm like
13:24falling asleep
13:25I didn't like
13:25any of them
13:26then I see
13:27epic fury
13:29I said
13:29I like that name
13:30I like that name
13:32as we take
13:33decisive action
13:34to stop
13:35the threat
13:36posed by the
13:37terrorist regime
13:38in Iran
13:39with operation
13:40epic fury
13:42well it finally happened
13:44the president's rallies
13:45have gone full
13:46monster truck show
13:48it's time for
13:49operation epic fury
13:50featuring bone crusher
13:52grave digger
13:53and the scariest one
13:54of all my close
13:54personal friend
13:55Jeffrey Epstein
13:56the truck
13:59also imagine bragging
14:00that you had to read
14:0220 names
14:03and you almost
14:03fell asleep
14:06they were
14:06but you know
14:07that thing
14:07when you have
14:08to read 20 names
14:10and you're so tired
14:13I also wouldn't trust
14:14the president's judgment
14:15when it comes to timing
14:16one of his supporters
14:17collapsed
14:18at his rally
14:19last night
14:20and he reacted
14:21in the weirdest
14:21possible way
14:22she later
14:23got back up
14:24and seemed totally fine
14:25which is great
14:25but it does make
14:27his response
14:27even more bizarre
14:28in an interview
14:30in an interview
14:35do you have a doctor in the house
14:37please
14:37doctor
14:41want to play a song
14:46do you think the people

14:56right now
14:57Ave Maria
14:58if they are listening
14:59Ave Maria
15:01by
15:02Baberati
15:05that's your response
15:06someone needs medical attention
15:09and your instinct is
15:10let's get some jams going
15:11who's got the ox
15:13let's do karaoke
15:14also Ave Maria
15:16is the worst choice
15:18you don't want to play
15:19foreboding religious music
15:21when someone needs
15:22medical attention
15:23when a person hears
15:25Ave Maria
15:26they don't think
15:26everything's cool
15:27they think they're dying
15:29did you also shine
15:30a white light

15:39the Trump administration
15:40can't seem to answer
15:42the simplest questions
15:43about this war
15:43or provide
15:44a coherent explanation
15:46for why it's happening
15:47how long it'll take
15:48or what happens next
15:48they can't even agree
15:49on whether
15:50high gas prices
15:51are a sacrifice
15:52or a good thing
15:53Americans are divided
15:54not on whether
15:54the war is a good
15:56or bad thing
15:57but on whether
15:57it's a disaster
15:58or a cluster
15:59and for many

16:50my mother
16:51was a real flyer
16:52notably
16:53she played Peter Pan
16:54at the O Paso Playhouse
16:56one night
16:57during the song
16:57I'm Flying
16:58she gave birth to me
16:59while flying
17:01unfortunately
17:02I was
17:05never able to
17:06fill her tights
17:07on stage
17:10but
17:10as my mother said
17:12I won't grow up
17:13you want to see
17:14a spotlight

17:48to clear the air
17:49yes
17:50okay
17:51the last time
17:52he was here
17:52ladies and gentlemen

17:55it's his show
17:57I'll clear the air
17:58with you after this
17:58absolutely
17:59the last time
18:00I was here
18:01he promised me
18:02that he was going to
18:03come see my Broadway
18:04show Queen of Versailles
18:05yeah
18:06you know that I had a ticket
18:07every night
18:08set aside for you
18:09in case you
18:11I'm just kidding
18:12I didn't do that
18:14although there were
18:15plenty of seats
18:16to be paid
18:18next one
18:19next one
18:19I swear to God
18:20I will not make
18:21an empty promise again
18:21I swear to God
18:22you didn't have much time
18:24you had about a three month
18:25that's a three month
18:26that happens
18:27sometimes they
18:28sometimes they work
18:29and sometimes they
18:30struggle
18:31but I will tell you
18:32something
18:33I'm still so proud
18:34of the show
18:34and what we did
18:35and mainly
18:36the cast
18:37you know
18:38we got so close
18:39and I'm like mama
18:40you know
18:41I don't have children
18:41so I'm like mama
18:42to everybody
18:43and I don't know
18:44it was a really great
18:45it must be a crazy thing
18:46having been in both kinds
18:47over the course of your career
18:48and know that
18:49the exact same amount
18:50of effort
18:51and love
18:52and talent
18:52goes into
18:53ones that take off
18:54and ones that struggle
18:55and the truth is
18:56and this isn't me
18:57making excuses
18:58maybe a little
18:59um
19:00for
19:01you know
19:01we have low
19:02tourism rates
19:03right now
19:03yeah
19:0414 shows have closed
19:06in the past year
19:07and a half
19:08and that's disturbing
19:10especially
19:10for those of us
19:12who do love opera
19:13and ballet
19:13you know
19:14we want
19:20we want to still
19:21keep working
19:22the live theater
19:24that's why
19:25I love your show
19:26because audience
19:27it's very nice
19:27to be in front of an audience
19:28I feel very spoiled
19:29that I get to do it
19:30every day
19:30you're born
19:31to do it
19:32so this is what
19:32we're talking about
19:33am I still talking
19:35about this
19:35anyway
19:36you'll come to my next
19:37I will
19:38I will
19:39you play a cheer coach
19:41in this show
19:41an assistant cheer coach
19:42assistant cheer coach
19:43and you have some actual roots
19:47and you have some actual roots
19:47in the cheer community
19:48this is a young Kristen
19:51and now what is
19:54there's a lot of questions
19:56about how do you
19:58when you go
19:59when you ask for this hairstyle
20:03like should the day come for me
20:05what would I say I wanted
20:07you would definitely say
20:09you want a perm bi-level cut
20:11a bi-level cut
20:13it was like the female mullet
20:15yeah
20:16it seems like real estate
20:18to say
20:18yeah I live in a bi-level
20:22and my mom did the perm
20:24Ogilvy
20:24and it overdid
20:26oh no
20:27and so anyway
20:28don't do this
20:30ever
20:30if 80s come back again
20:33can we not
20:34yeah
20:35some of it can come back
20:36but we're gonna still
20:37ask this one
20:37we're gonna stop this one
20:38at the door
20:39and be like
20:39we would not like you
20:40to be part of our retro
20:41thank you

20:56did you
20:57it's very
20:57you know
20:58and I will admit
20:59I didn't know
20:59until there was
21:00that fantastic
21:00you know
21:01cheerleading documentary
21:02about
21:02you know
21:03how physical it is
21:04and how
21:05susceptible to injuries
21:06people are
21:06did you
21:06did you have any bad falls
21:08did you have any injuries
21:11yes
21:12I had
21:14you know
21:14in my life
21:15it's a very famous injury
21:16but I don't want to
21:17gross your audience out
21:18okay
21:19I'm surprised that
21:21I
21:22go for it
21:23they're ready for it
21:25okay
21:25do y'all know
21:26what being hyperextended
21:27means
21:28so like
21:29if you're in the splits
21:30your legs are already
21:31above your hips
21:33right
21:33so
21:34the first thing
21:35that's on the floor
21:36is
21:38yeah
21:38the coccyx area
21:40yeah
21:40so I was a flyer
21:42the person on top
21:44because I was the littlest
21:45right
21:45so I put my life
21:46in the hands
21:47of this girl
21:48Paige
21:48Paige
21:50Paige I love you honey
21:51thank you for coming
21:53anyway
21:54we were doing this
21:56event
21:56this stunt
21:57where
21:57I'm in the splits
21:59over her head
22:00and her arms
22:01are in my pits
22:02understand
22:02yeah
22:03her arms are in my pits
22:04I'm lifted up
22:05and I'm in the splits
22:06and that's at the gym
22:07and it's before a basketball
22:09game for the Tigers
22:10my dad was sitting
22:11in the stands
22:12and Paige dropped me
22:14yeah
22:15she was the tallest one
22:17and she was always
22:18the complainer
22:19but anyway
22:21I love you Paige
22:23don't be mad at me
22:24I'll see you at the reunion
22:25I'll see you at the reunion
22:26anyway
22:28anyway I fell first
22:32on the coccyx
22:33and my father
22:34was in the stands
22:35and heard it
22:36wow
22:37I had to get carried
22:39off of that
22:39still in the splits
22:41did they carry you out
22:42I could not
22:42I had to walk like this
22:44and with a pillow
22:46for three months
22:46but the worst part
22:47I coined the injury
22:49because come to find out
22:50I wasn't the first one
22:52who's ever had that
22:52and I call it
22:53the cooter smash
22:58what I like about that
23:00if you if you ever
23:02if you do ever
23:03get into professional
23:04wrestling
23:04that's a pretty good
23:05signature move
23:07Seth
23:07I could tell
23:08when it's gonna rain
23:09from it?
23:10down there
23:11really?
23:12yes
23:13I think it's
23:14I think you should say
23:15like it feels like rain
23:16and not tell people why
23:19that's probably good advice

27:41a light
27:41you throw
27:42an amazing
27:43amount of shade

27:46with love
27:48yeah that's
27:49a hairdo
27:50right there
27:50I have about
27:51two strands
27:51of actual hair
27:52on my head
27:52y'all
27:53this was
27:54what you call
27:55back in the 80s
27:56yeah
27:56this would have
27:57been
27:57this would have
27:58probably been
27:59no it was
28:0090
28:00he teased
28:01my hair
28:02so up
28:02I had
28:03two
28:03by the time
28:04pageant was over
28:05I had like
28:05two strands
28:06left
28:06but I loved
28:07it because
28:09I loved
28:09I loved it
28:10I was 4'11
28:11and when I got
28:12chosen to be
28:13in the top 10
28:14and then ultimately
28:15almost win
28:16but not
28:17I felt like
28:18I was saying
28:19something for all
28:19the 4'11 girls
28:20out there
28:21and when you're
28:21in a pageant
28:22this was a
28:23scholarship pageant
28:24Miss America
28:24scholarship pageant
28:25I got my
28:26master's degree
28:27because of
28:28the talent
28:28portion I won
28:29and basically
28:30I won everything
28:31but the crown
28:32so
28:34anyway
28:34don't know
28:35what she's doing
28:36don't care
28:37but
28:38this
28:40gown
28:40I got out
28:41the other day
28:42this is a true story
28:43because I thought
28:43wouldn't it be funny
28:44if the next time
28:45I do the Met
28:45or Carnegie
28:46I wear my dress
28:48still fits
28:49yes
28:51yes
28:51still fits
28:52so wait
28:54I have a question
28:55do you
28:56do you have a memory
28:58of the moment
29:00because again
29:00as I understand
29:01pageants
29:02having watched a few
29:03it's you
29:03and who ended up
29:05winning
29:05and so they
29:05did that moment
29:06where
29:06yes
29:07and did you
29:07feel like
29:08looking back
29:09did you do a good
29:10job of acting
29:11like you're excited
29:12no
29:12in fact
29:13back when we
29:14had VHS
29:18we rewound
29:18the moment
29:19my best friend
29:20Denny and I
29:20and Jack
29:21we would rewind
29:22the moment
29:22because
29:23what I do
29:24is the old
29:24kick out
29:25and I didn't
29:26mean to
29:26it was involuntary
29:28yeah
29:29I'm standing
29:29there
29:30I'm waiting
29:30I look like
29:31Sabrina Carpenter
29:32yeah you do
29:33you really do
29:34you look like
29:35a million bucks
29:36so
29:36so I'm
29:37standing there
29:38waiting for my
29:38turn
29:39to win
29:40and
29:41they don't
29:42say my name
29:44and I did
29:45this
29:46okay
29:50why do you ask
29:52because I knew
29:52she wasn't
29:53going to win
29:54Miss America
29:54but hey
29:55go with the
29:56other girl

30:06so much
30:06it is just
30:07amazing
30:07to have you
30:07how about

30:47and The Hunger Games

31:16this happen man
31:19you want to

31:24not them man up there
31:26we're getting done
31:27for this
31:28I'm sorry
31:29don't say sorry
31:30don't give a
31:31about hearing sorry
31:33just don't do it again
31:34yeah
31:40please welcome to the show
31:41Tom Blight everybody
31:54hello
31:55hello
31:56how are you
31:56I'm very well
31:57thank you for having me
31:58you're so much
31:59nicer backstage
32:00than you were in that clip
32:01I keep hearing that
32:02yeah
32:02it's very menacing
32:04it's a menacing performance
32:05I'm glad
32:06yeah
32:06I mean my mom
32:07keeps saying
32:08that was what I was like
32:08when I was a teenager
32:11everybody's like
32:11that's not you at all
32:12and your mom's like
32:13actually
32:13you should have seen him
32:14a few years ago
32:14yeah
32:16I will say
32:17I don't know what it says
32:18about me
32:18I love a prison thriller
32:19I think it's a fantastic
32:20setting for a movie
32:22I think the tension
32:23runs really high
32:23and this is
32:25this is a great
32:25concept for a film
32:27so you're basically
32:28a new cellmate
32:29yeah
32:29of someone who's
32:30about to get paroled
32:31yeah
32:32the amazing
32:33David Johnson
32:34who is an incredible actor
32:36and a good friend of mine
32:36plays a guy who's about
32:38to get out of prison
32:39has kind of been trying
32:40to stay on the straight
32:41and narrow
32:42and then I come in
32:43D to basically ruin his life
32:45yeah
32:46and yeah
32:47kind of
32:47it's kind of a messed up
32:49like story of brotherhood
32:50and also about a system
32:52that is very flawed
32:53yeah
32:54did you guys know
32:54each other before this
32:55did you
32:55did a little bit
32:56yeah
32:56we go back a couple of years
32:58and we were always looking
32:59for something to work on together
33:00and then this came along
33:01and we were like
33:01this is a no brainer
33:03what is the
33:04what is the prep
33:05you do for a film
33:06where you play
33:07a menacing prisoner
33:08in an ideal world
33:10we were kind of hoping
33:11that we'd get like
33:11a Tom Hardy and Bronson
33:13kind of time
33:14timeline to like
33:15you know
33:15get enormous
33:16and do all that sort of thing
33:17and you know
33:19get in the gym
33:19with a Hollywood trainer
33:20and all that sort of thing
33:21but in reality
33:22it was a small indie film
33:23yeah
33:24small budget
33:24and yeah
33:26they were like
33:27we can give you
33:29three yoga VHS tapes
33:31basically
33:31yeah
33:32I was just doing like
33:33woo
33:34no
33:34it was a lot of like
33:35eating burgers
33:36eating steaks
33:38and just salty food
33:39to try and kind of like
33:39bloat up
33:40and then lots of like
33:41push-ups
33:42and
33:42very scrappy production
33:44we were talking as well
33:45about the fact
33:45you shot at a
33:46like old decommissioned prison
33:47yeah
33:48and is it true
33:49that you actually
33:50got an injury
33:52on the set
33:53I got a couple
33:54minor
33:55minor
33:55but there's a
33:56spoiler alert
33:57there's like a
33:58there's a big riot scene
33:59where D basically
34:00comes back with a vengeance
34:02and he
34:02and the riot squad
34:03gets brought in
34:04to kind of
34:04I wouldn't say
34:05that's a spoiler alert
34:06I'd be like
34:06thank goodness
34:07because when I see
34:08if there's not a riot
34:09I feel like
34:10I've been ripped off
34:10I mean
34:11it's kind of like
34:12a quintessential prison drama
34:13like staple
34:14but yeah
34:15D basically loses his mind
34:16and goes one
34:17against like 12
34:19and a lot of the blood
34:20you see is my actual blood
34:21because
34:22you know
34:22when you see it
34:23I throw my head up
34:24against like the riot shields
34:25and I busted my lip
34:26and I cut my hand
34:27and
34:28so it seems like
34:28it's more your fault
34:29than theirs
34:31yeah
34:31I want to blame the production
34:32but there's no lawsuit here
34:34if anything
34:35they're thrilled to be watching this
34:36they're like
34:36oh thank god
34:37just give that to the lawyer
34:39yeah exactly
34:39they'll be suing me next week
34:41it is
34:42I feel like every time
34:44you see sort of like
34:45one of these authentic
34:46prison movies
34:46it's shocking
34:47what they actually
34:48can get into the cells
34:50it's incredible
34:51I mean
34:51we had
34:52some consultants
34:53who were
34:54a lot of them
34:54were ex-prisoners
34:55and so anytime
34:56we weren't sure
34:57if something was authentic
34:58we'd look to them
34:59and be like
35:00is this real
35:01and a lot of the stuff
35:02that we had access to
35:04were like
35:04video game consoles
35:06like all kinds of shoes
35:07and sneakers
35:08and every array
35:10of chocolate bar
35:11you've ever seen
35:11in your life
35:12because basically
35:13it's like a
35:14it's like a mini economy
35:15of the outside world
35:16so it's like
35:17anything that
35:18you can get in
35:19is worth something
35:19and you end up becoming
35:20like
35:21you know
35:21my character
35:21becomes like
35:22the king of the prison
35:23because he's trading
35:23all this stuff
35:24what you just described
35:26if my kids saw this movie
35:27they'd be like
35:27we gotta go to prison
35:28yeah yeah yeah
35:29they have everything
35:31mom won't let us have
35:32I mean
35:32it's funny you mention that
35:33because growing up
35:34like I
35:35like a lot of kids
35:36I've learned
35:36used to buy
35:39candy
35:39as we call it here
35:40candy
35:41a candy store
35:42on the way to school
35:42what do you call it there
35:43sweets
35:44okay gotcha
35:44yeah yeah yeah
35:46but I'm translating
35:47in real time
35:48for you guys
35:49you know
35:49you go to the sweet shop
35:50or the candy store
35:51now I'm having to speak
35:52in two languages
35:53yeah
35:54and you
35:54and you would
35:55you know
35:55your mom would give you
35:56a couple of pounds
35:57that's what we used
35:58by the way
36:00no one thinks
36:00you're bilingual
36:01like I know
36:03you're not the duolingo owl
36:06I'm trying to get
36:07some extra points
36:08that I don't deserve
36:09and you'd buy sweets
36:10and you'd sell them
36:11at school
36:11and you'd have
36:12like a little side hustle
36:13going on
36:14which apparently
36:14is quite a widely done thing
36:16but I think that gave me
36:17training to play D
36:18because I
36:19I used to sell
36:20a lot of candy
36:21yeah no
36:22when you see
36:22how menacing he is
36:23you're like
36:23that guy sold candy
36:24as a kid
36:25yeah and not
36:26not a euphemism either
36:27sweets was like
36:28the nickname of like
36:29actually a pretty scary guy
36:30oh yeah yeah yeah
36:31yeah
36:31I think for people
36:32who saw you
36:33in People We Meet
36:35on Vacation
36:35if that's the first place
36:36they saw you
36:40I think they
36:42it's certainly a departure
36:44I think it speaks
36:45to your range
36:45as an actor
36:46that you can both play
36:46in a movie like this
36:47and a movie like Wasteman
36:48thank you
36:49yeah I mean I'm just trying
36:50to kind of keep
36:51surprising myself
36:51was this surprise
36:53was the response
36:54to this surprising to you
36:55I don't know
36:56if it was surprising
36:57because everyone kept
36:58telling me how much
36:58the book is loved
37:00right
37:00but yeah
37:01it was it was expected
37:02I guess that's the pressure
37:03though
37:04when everybody loves a book
37:04and you're making
37:05an adaptation of it
37:06you know that there's
37:07like a real
37:07there's a real chance
37:08you're going to let
37:08people down
37:09yeah I mean it is a pressure
37:10but also
37:11I'd already been through
37:12with The Hunger Games
37:13before
37:13and like
37:14I kind of brace myself
37:15for that
37:16again your third
37:17very distinctive look
37:18yeah
37:21very very different
37:22yeah
37:24your first role
37:25I'm always fascinated
37:26with first roles
37:26you were in Ridley Scott's
37:28Robin Hood
37:28yeah
37:29learned a valuable
37:29lesson early on
37:30I got cut from the film
37:31yeah
37:32yeah more or less
37:33I mean I'm in it
37:34in like a mask
37:34and my hobbit feet
37:35yeah
37:36but apart from that
37:37you can barely tell
37:37it's me
37:38and when did you
37:39when did you find out
37:40you weren't in it
37:41I think seeing it
37:43yeah
37:44yeah
37:44it was me and a few
37:45other boys who played
37:46the feral children
37:46and we went in
37:48you know expecting
37:49to see ourselves
37:50and we did not see
37:50ourselves
37:51had you oversold it
37:52to your schoolmates
37:54no but they all knew
37:55because I had this
37:55shaved head
37:56for like months
37:57and they all thought
37:57I was like going
37:58through some stuff
37:59yeah
37:59but but
38:01and they were like
38:01why are you looking
38:02like this
38:02and I was like
38:03I'm an actor
38:03and they didn't
38:04believe me
38:04yeah
38:05but yeah
38:06they were disappointed
38:08but I have
38:08I've met Ridley
38:09a couple of times
38:10since
38:10and he pretends
38:11that he remembers
38:12me from that
38:12and he does not
38:13yeah
38:14you can always tell
38:15when a director
38:16tries to act
38:17yeah
38:17yeah
38:18that's why
38:19you're not fooling
38:20anybody
38:20yeah
38:20you moved to New York
38:22for Juilliard
38:22yeah
38:23and
38:24and have been
38:25in New York
38:25ever since
38:26pretty much
38:26pretty much
38:27without work
38:27and stuff
38:28yeah
38:28I kind of split my time
38:29between London and New York
38:30how was it
38:30how did you first
38:31find New York
38:32when you came here
38:32was it everything
38:33I mean again
38:33you come to Juilliard
38:34you probably have
38:35pretty high expectations
38:36loud
38:36yeah
38:37it was loud
38:37I remember just like
38:38jackhammers all the time
38:39yeah
38:40which is like a culture shock
38:41in itself
38:42yeah
38:42but again
38:43that's why all our streets
38:44are so smooth
38:44super
38:45yeah
38:45we put the work in
38:47and you just
38:48it's just
38:48everything's brand new
38:49city of smooth streets
38:50city of smooth streets
38:52that's what they call it
38:52in London
38:53that's what they call it
38:54in London
38:54yeah
38:55thanks for being here
