00:00My family are from Skipton originally. They moved away in the 1960s, but we always used to come back at
00:06two or three times a year to visit aunties and uncles and cousins, etc. But yeah, it always has a
00:14draw to Skipton. Just the actual drive into Skipton is absolutely beautiful. There's three or four ways that you can
00:23actually enter the town. And every one of those entrances into the town is absolutely picturesque.
00:28So, yeah, it does have a lot to offer.
00:30I moved to Skipton about 26 years ago. And the reason I chose Skipton is because of its location. Great
00:37access to motorways, trains. It's got everything here. You've got nice pubs and restaurants, easy access to the Yorkshire Dales.
00:48The shops are really improving. The high street, I think, is turning around after some years of not having very
00:56much here. We've got a little theatre. We've got a cinema. We've got a great, beautiful town hall.
01:03Skipton Woods is a gem on our doorstep. So, overall, it is definitely the best place to live.
01:10We have a lot to offer down here at the canal side as well. Boat trips for big, large parties,
01:16boat trips for smaller parties. You can even hire those boats and take them out yourself and do a self
01:21-drive.
01:21People here, 99.9% of them are very friendly. Always have a cheerful hello, good evening. Yeah, it's absolutely
01:33a really friendly place to be. Shopkeepers are really friendly. Businesses are really friendly. All dog friendly as well.
01:42Which does go quite a long way, because there's lots of people with dogs at the moment.
01:46It's a fantastic place to live. It's a fantastic place to visit. You're straight up to the Dales. You've got
01:51great walking. There's loads of independent shops that stay independent and have been here a while.
01:58So, they're in a big turn over like there is in some other posher towns around. So, it's a great
02:04place to live. Normal people, just polite, happy.
02:10I'm not being prepared to say that. It's just a really generally friendly, warm, welcoming, nice place to live. Right
02:18size. Not too big, not too small.
02:20We also have quite a lot of wildlife happening around here in the basin. We have three otters that are
02:26out nearly every single morning between half past seven and half past eight.
02:31Come to do the feed around here with kingfishers, with cormorants, with goose sanders.
02:35The best hidden gem is Skipton Woods. If you haven't been there, I know a lot of locals who haven't
02:41been there. It's something you really need to get out and have a look. Easy walking, easy access.
02:48You've got pram access, wheelchair access. So, that's great. A little walk to Gargrave along the canal. Nice flat access.
02:56You can get the train back or you can get the bus there and come back the other way.
02:59Welcome, let's get started.
02:59Thank you, everybody.
03:00Take care.
03:00You
