00:00A Liverpool man has been jailed after fraudulently claiming £71,000 from a pensioner.
00:06Connor Turner, 21, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court charged with 33 offences committed in April
00:13last year. The court heard he used social engineering to impersonate the victim and
00:18access bank and email accounts. Prosecutors said he changed his name by deed poll and opened
00:24accounts to receive stolen funds. Police say he also targeted another victim.
00:30Turner was sentenced to four years and given a five-year serious crime prevention order to
00:35start upon his release. Detectives say the case highlights the risks of impersonation fraud
00:41and online security threats.
