00:00But I think the obvious elephant in the room is that, you know, the show is called Ladies of London,
00:04and you're the only guy in it.
00:05So I am curious, how did this come to be for you?
00:08Oh my god.
00:09Somebody stopped me in the street yesterday and screamed,
00:14It's a lady of London!
00:16And I froze.
00:18I wanted to die.
00:20Stop.
00:21I mean, I have many things, but I never realized, it wasn't an ambition to become a lady, but hey.
00:27Listen, life takes you in all different ways.
00:29Indeed it does, and it's good to be experiencing it all.
00:32You got your start on Made in Chelsea, you've done a bunch of other shows since then.
00:36You know, for Americans who might just be getting introduced to you now with this show,
00:40what's something they should know about you and, you know, your trajectory, your past on reality TV?
00:45I think I'd describe myself as outspoken and eccentric.
00:51I'm very much myself, which may please some and may displease many others.
00:57I'm probably someone that you either love to hate or hate to love.
01:02Okay.
01:02But as long as you're loving, I'm happy.
01:05Because I think that it's, what's fundamental is authenticity, right?
01:09And you see that over a trajectory of someone's career or whatever it is.
01:13But this is a very, very different chapter for me.
01:17My most exciting.
01:19I think this show has been one of the best things I've ever filmed.
01:22The casting is sensational.
01:24And the storylines are real.
01:25And that's what makes the difference.
01:27Well, I do want to get into some of the drama we've seen so far this season in the first
01:30couple episodes.
01:31Yes, please.
01:31So, the big rumor going around was that Dara was allegedly a madam.
01:36Oh, maybe she had that person on.
01:39Who are we talking about?
01:40Apparently your friend is a madam.
01:42Is that true?
01:45Which friend?
01:46What friend?
01:47Dara.
01:47She's a madam.
01:49Do you know where this rumor came from?
01:51And do you have any proof one way or the other whether it's true or not?
01:55Well, I'll start from the facts.
01:57I think it's a fabulous rumor because madams are highly intelligent.
02:03They're obviously extremely well connected.
02:05And they make a lot of money.
02:07So, why bother with the interior design?
02:09But then very often interior designers many use that as a front, don't they?
02:13Oh, I choose wallpaper and skirting board colors.
02:19Anyway, I hope it's real.
02:21But maybe it's too much of a compliment, quite frankly,
02:22because of the acute intelligence required to perform the task.
02:27Fair enough.
02:28Clearly she was not able to use that intelligence
02:33in her first appearance on a television program,
02:36which is unfortunate for her.
02:37It was very interesting and I think very surprising
02:39because we haven't seen something like that unfold at least so soon
02:43and in front of cameras and kept in the show nonetheless.
02:46Yeah.
02:47So, very interesting.
02:48And also, going out of her way to then mention on camera
02:53that she was lying and that she had actually said these things.
02:57I find that quite baffling.
02:58If you're going to lie, be good at it.
03:00That's all I'm going to say.
03:01When I talked to Micah last week,
03:03she said she didn't think that Dara's involvement in the show
03:05went over very well with the royal family,
03:07given her connection through Princess Beatrice and her ex-fiance.
03:10What do you think about that?
03:12Shall I be brutally honest?
03:13Yes, always.
03:14I don't think anyone in the royal family knows who she is
03:16and I really don't think they give a damn.
03:18Have you read the news lately?
03:19There's a lot going on and Dara is the least of their problems.
03:23Trust me, no one's ever heard of her.
03:25Do you think she'll be back in the future
03:27or do you think she's done?
03:29It's amazing.
03:30You know, the more I live,
03:32the more I realize that people like that keep cropping up.
03:35I don't think this is the end of Dara.
03:37I think she'll try again and again and again.
03:41Right?
03:41I could see that.
03:42Like a season two, like dramatic walk-in or something.
03:45I can imagine.
03:47Listen, Stranger Things have happened in Bravo.
03:50Stranger Things are about to happen in this series, so seriously.
03:54This is just the slightest of amuse-bouches.
03:57It's not even an aperitif.
03:59It's like, it's like the slightest look through the peephole.
04:03Right.
04:04Keyhole.
04:04So crazy.
04:05Whatever the word is.
04:06Yes, and I do want to get into some other things too.
04:08I want to ask about your friendship with Emma
04:10because in the trailer, Margot says you are
04:12quote, desperately clutching onto Emma for social relevance.
04:15I went to a scan and they told me that it's serious.
04:19Mark is desperately clutching onto Emma for social relevance.
04:26What's your response to that?
04:28I mean, normally I wouldn't honor such idiocy with a response,
04:32but since we filmed a TV show together, I'm probably obliged to.
04:35I met Emma long before she got married, before she had a title.
04:39We became best friends.
04:40We were at university together.
04:42So we became inseparable probably five years before her marriage.
04:46So I think that probably kind of sums that up.
04:49So thank you so much for your insight, Margot.
04:51We really do appreciate your opinion on the matter.
04:53Go back into your little box.
04:56Well, it seems like Margot's going to have a very difficult time adapting to English society.
05:01I don't know if it's because she's American or just personality-wise.
05:05It's definitely not, and I'm so sorry to interrupt you.
05:08No, no, go ahead.
05:09But it's really not because she's American,
05:10and I think that's a point that this series should actually go out of its way to make,
05:15because the British, well, firstly, London is not a city that is dominated by the British in any way.
05:22It's a hugely international city, and we love Americans.
05:26We adore them.
05:27So I don't think it has anything to do with that.
05:29It has to do with personality.
05:31And when you're honest and open, people will always warm to you, no matter what,
05:38when you have the right kind of disposition and a good personality.
05:42Right.
05:42And I'll leave it at that.
05:43Switching gears a little bit, because I saw on your Instagram that you're friends with Kate Moss.
05:47Is that true?
05:49And I know she was actually recently brought up in a scene of Ryan Murphy's love story.
05:54Right.
05:54You know, when Carolyn Bessette encouraged Calvin Klein to cast her for a 1992 campaign.
05:58What about Kate Moss?
06:00Oh, she's cute.
06:01No one knows who she is.
06:02Exactly.
06:03She's almost unknowable.
06:04She's guarded and elusive.
06:05She's not trying to sell you anything or ham it up for the camera.
06:09She's just letting you in.
06:12Have you been watching that show at all?
06:14I haven't, but I never find time.
06:16So I have this terrible, terrible, guilty secret.
06:19I don't own a television.
06:21No way.
06:22Yeah, I know.
06:23Nowhere?
06:24In your house?
06:25Like, nowhere.
06:26Wait, why?
06:26But I have a phone.
06:27So sometimes I get snippets on the phone.
06:29Wait, why don't you own a television?
06:31I'm so intrigued.
06:32They're just so unattractive.
06:33They're, like, so big.
06:34Clunky, like, ugly decor.
06:37I might have to buy one now.
06:38But I really think if you're going to be on TV, don't watch TV.
06:41Because it stops you.
06:43I don't want to analyze myself.
06:45I don't want to see myself.
06:46I hate hearing my own voice in the answer phone message, you know?
06:50So to watch myself would just be the most ghastly thing.
06:52And I might have a propensity to do that if I owned a television.
06:55So this way I'm just, like, always myself.
06:57And then, you know, what happens, happens.
