The LFB were on hand to tame the fire in south London

00:00Around 70 firefighters brought a blaze at a block of flats in South London under control
00:06on March 18, with no injuries reported. Emergency crews were called shortly after 2.20 in the
00:13afternoon to a three-storey residential building on Upper Tulse Hill in Lambeth in South London,
00:19where part of a second-floor flat and a section of the roof had caught fire.
00:24Ten fire engines attended the scene, with crews working to contain the flames.
00:30Firefighters from Brixton, Tooting, Forest Hill and nearby stations in south-west and south-east
00:35London had the incident under control by 3.40 in the afternoon, just after an hour after receiving
00:41the call. A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said that the brigade had received the
00:46first of 15 calls reporting the fire at 2.21 in the afternoon. They added that crews had been
00:52mobilised from several local stations in and around South London and that the fire had been brought
00:57under control shortly before 4pm. The spokesperson also confirmed that the cause of the fire remained
01:04under investigation by the brigade's Fire Investigation Unit. Following the incident,
01:09the Tulse Hill Road was closed in both directions, with traffic disruption in the surrounding area
01:15continuing through the night of 18 March. Traffic around the south London area is now all clear,
01:21with engines back at their stations, but the investigation is still ongoing as of 19 March.
