00:00Now it's the sit down with Nick Bile and Natalie Joy.
00:03It's our new reality dating obsession, Age of Attraction, is streaming now on Netflix.
00:08The twist? Only after a couple chooses each other can they learn each other's ages.
00:12As the show's host, you have some experience with an age gap in real life.
00:16People love to remind us about it, even though you're married now,
00:20building a whole life with your daughter, and two more on the way.
00:24What do you make of the fact that it's still a topic of conversation?
00:27It's never really bothered me. It didn't bother me in the beginning.
00:31I wasn't really the one who had any doubts or nervousness around it.
00:37My parents have an age gap. My sisters have an age gap.
00:40It just wasn't anything that I wasn't used to.
00:43Yeah, I mean, definitely less and less.
00:46Having Natalie in my life has been the best thing that's ever happened to me,
00:49and I was grateful for the life I had before.
00:52But in every meaningful and memorable way, she's changed it
00:55in such great ways. And I think I was someone, when we first met,
01:00that I've had my nervousness, you know, what work people are going to say.
01:03I had a hard time just kind of like leaning into the connection,
01:06but it has been the best thing that's ever happened to me.
01:09When Netflix came to us about this concept, we were certainly interested.
01:12We were also like, we wanted to make sure what their intentions were,
01:15how they were going to show, you know, and tackle this topic.
01:18And they made us feel really great about, you know, how they wanted to go about that.
01:22The show is about like connection. It's about compatibility.
01:25And if people happen to meet someone where there is an age difference,
01:29we want to encourage them to lean in what's good about that connection
01:32and explore the compatibility and how they communicate
01:35and not listen to the outside voices, because that's not what's going to
01:39determine whether that relationship is successful.
01:41But you might come to find that, you know, your age difference does play a role
01:46in you not being compatible. And that's also okay as well.
01:49It's not necessarily for everyone.
01:50There are a lot of dating experiments out there and we've watched them all.
01:55What's one way you were hoping to break the mold with this new concept?
01:58We have seen older men dating younger women before, and that can be a great thing.
02:03But I think we were all hoping for that representation that, you know,
02:07you could be an older woman and you can find a meaningful connection.
02:11And again, if you're worried about outside voices, you shouldn't.
02:14I hope that the show gives a lot of enthusiasm and encouragement to anyone who's out there who
02:20feels younger inside and has more energy. And maybe they've tried to date people their age,
02:26especially women out there, with not a lot of luck.
02:28I hope they feel like they have more permission to see themselves in Teresa or see themselves in Vanessa
02:34and feel empowered by the people they date.
02:37Part of your job is to kind of set a good example for these couples.
02:40After nearly six years together, what's your biggest piece of relationship advice?
02:44I mean, I think communication is just always going to be,
02:48I think Nick and I are so good about the second we feel a disconnect within the two of
02:53us. We check in immediately. It's like, Hey, what's going on? How are you feeling?
02:57Let's get back connected. And I think that's been very important throughout our relationship.
03:01Yeah. Just adding to that, I think you just, you have to choose each other every day.
03:05I think there's a lot of relationships out there that are mostly based off how they met
03:10or their first couple of weeks in their relationship. And you really have to wake up every day
03:15and decide you want to be with someone and you decide you want to put in the work because
03:19as great as this is, it does take a lot of work.
