00:40Watch Dogs 2 is about a hacker named Marcus Holloway.
00:43He's a very gifted and smart young man who ends up by getting profiled and accused of a crime he
00:49didn't commit.
00:50That opens his eyes as to all the inequalities that are out there and how the system is being used
00:55against people.
00:56He's fighting for injustice. This system that's in this game, CTOS, it puts labels on people and it doesn't really
01:03take in who they are as people or whether they're good.
01:06It just says they're high risk, you need to treat them this way.
01:10And so he starts working with DedSec in order to show people what's happening, but more so to help take
01:17down part of the system that's being used against them.
01:19T-Bone comes along getting DedSec to go, yes, we have to make a stand. We have to be the
01:25good guys.
01:26Nice hat.
01:28Nice mask.
01:30They are the David against the Goliaths, but they have something special that David didn't have.
01:36Like, they don't have a sword. They have the entire internet.
01:39The Goliath is all forms of establishment.
01:42So big corporations, some people in those corporations trying to use technology for power, for money, for control.
01:49And also the government is part of the establishment, so various corrupted people inside of those factions that you're trying
01:54to fight against.
01:55You're going to be dealing against rival hacker groups.
01:58We're going to be dealing with corporations trying to get power, manipulating politicians, trying to get money.
02:06Basically trying to know more about you than you know about yourself so they can predict your next move.
02:11One of the challenges you're going to be facing is to figure out is there a link between all those
02:14people.
02:14Is it just random abuse of technology, or is there someone with an agenda?
02:19And that's what you have to figure out as you unveil that corruption in the establishment.
02:26In Watch Dogs 1 we explored surveillance a lot.
02:29You know, how technology could invade people's privacy.
02:31In Watch Dogs 2 we're interested in something called big data.
02:34Big data, really what it means is all the stuff we do online, all the information that is recorded on
02:40us.
02:40When we were crafting Watch Dogs 2, we definitely wanted the players to come away thinking to themselves,
02:45holy crap, I didn't know this existed.
02:47We started looking at how people are being predicted and potentially manipulated.
02:51You come into Watch Dogs 2 and you now are at the heart of Bloom.
02:55You see what happens when they're able to take all this information and compile it together.
03:00They don't see anything wrong with compiling this data.
03:02But what happens when you've got somebody who acts as the middleman between Bloom and the data that they possess,
03:08and they start doing something pushing their own agenda for it?
03:12That's where you have somebody like Deshan come in.
03:14He's the CEO of Bloom, which is a company that collects and distributes the data from all different kinds of
03:21other organizations.
03:22Think about the amount of control one person can have if they literally own and manipulate all information, all data
03:32about every single person.
03:33That in itself is kind of like, it's kind of like God.
03:39And that essentially is what the limitless of what Deshan's capability is could turn into.
03:44If I'm going to separate how Deshan and Marcus differ,
03:47I would actually say it's what is it that they're willing to do in order to win?
03:51Who does Deshan sacrifice in order to accomplish victory?
03:55And what is Marcus willing to give up or what is he not willing to give up in order to
04:00do the same?
04:03Marcus doesn't come in with that idea of, I'm going to save the world.
04:07He comes in with a, fuck Bloom, they fucked me over, so I'm coming after them.
04:12You know, the defenseless trying to defend themselves.
04:14We are the ones that can step up and defend for them.
04:17We've all been broken down into our most core components as far as information is concerned.
04:22We have no control over it whatsoever.
04:25We have no say over who uses it.
04:26We have no say how it's used against us.
04:29If there's no way that the people can know what's happening, then things like this happen.
04:33Hackers step up and figure out the truth.
04:36Fingertips, that's like the world's most powerful monopoly.
04:39This is systemic injustice at its highest level.
04:42Let's show them what going to war with us really means.
04:44It's up to you to decide what side you're on or what's right and what's wrong.
04:48But at the end of the day, this story is exactly what is happening today.
04:54Namaste.
04:55Namaste.
05:08Namaste.
05:26P.S.4 for the players.
