Videodiario "Reimagining Thunder" per Killer Instinct.

00:10No matter who we are, what our cultural background is, we're drawn to heroes that resonate with us.
00:17One thing that we clearly lack in the gaming industry is accurate and sensitive Native American characters.
00:25Chief Thunder, fight ready!
00:28When we decided to reboot Killer Instinct for the Xbox One launch, we knew we wanted to take the character
00:33of Thunder and make it more culturally appropriate.
00:37So the team and the developers went to the Nez Perce tribe to get their feedback on how to do
00:42that.
00:43The character came out. It looked pretty good. It was the best attempt I had ever seen at a Native
00:50character. He looked pretty badass.
00:51But the choice and some of the gear he had was like, well, they probably could have went in a
00:56different direction with that. It could have improved.
00:59A project should be the result of combined efforts. Rather than us giving a bunch of information to somebody and
01:07having them disappear into a room and come out with an image, it should be true collaboration.
01:12We knew we got some things right, but we also knew we could have done better. So this time we
01:17went back and we wanted to deeply collaborate to make sure that everything was perfect.
01:22They gave us so much access to their clothing and cultural artifacts, a ton of reference material to make sure
01:28that we could get this character right.
01:30So we read his hair like we talked about in the pompadour. We added a different necklace.
01:36We also had a lot of check-ins to make sure that everything was progressing. How were they feeling about
01:41it? Was there anything that they wanted to change?
01:43It was really important to us that this was a true collaboration.
01:47They've made sure they hadn't had us check it and look at it and get our opinions and what we
01:51think and how it makes us feel, and that's important.
01:54This collaboration, I mean, it's exceeded my expectations by far.
02:00The image that we put on the screen has to be sensitive to the audience.
02:05What we want to do is afford our young people the option to have something that they will be drawn
02:10to, something that they'll want to embody,
02:13so that it reinforces their self-esteem in a positive way.
02:17We want them to think, yeah, that's a Nez Perce guy.
02:26We don't think so.
02:35Watch out.
