00:59I love how the power-ups are that.
01:00What you guys will notice, the power-ups, they really have that total throwback art style, like pixel art.
01:04The game is like a blood letter to, like you said, the original.
01:07But just those little details really bring that back.

01:14So if you walk in there, you'll get a special pose with Blue.

01:18But the key thing is all these Bombermans have their own personal personalities as they come out.

01:25He's just very relaxed about what he does.
01:26I feel like it's dangerous to be that sleepy when he bombs all over the place.

01:30You can't underestimate any of these.

01:32So now with things getting dangerous, we have magnets.
01:34So if I drop this Bomb here, the magnets just kind of suck it over.

02:03The graphics are obviously upgraded.
02:04They're beautiful in 3D, but they still have this really cool...
02:06We try to mingle in a lot of the retro feel.
02:08The developers get a lot of care in how the icons and how all these different enemies work.
02:12And it's very satisfying.
02:13And these little guys will walk away from bombs once you place them as the levels get more and more
02:17strong.
02:18So you saw him actively dodge that Bomb there.
02:20He's perfectly smart.
02:21But once you go through a few more levels, you'll find out that the enemies get pretty bright
02:25and are actually pretty substantially dangerous.
02:27So he's going to try to avoid...

02:45So we are rocking and rolling with that.
02:46Just playing classic Bomb Man with real-time shadows blows my mind.

02:51It really is just amazing.
02:52It's really cool.
02:54Yeah, it's really cool how much they've done with that core mechanic.
02:57I mean, you know, dropping bombs, blowing stuff up.
02:58But then they've got all these new little things added in.
03:01And it really, between co-op and this we'll see you later, multiplayer, battle,
03:04there's just so many different ways to rip off that.
03:07core, which is still so fun.
03:08So it's a strong core of the game about mechanics.
03:11Oh, and it's just one of those games that's timelessly fun with your friends.
03:14And what I'm really looking forward to with this game in terms of the single player
03:17is actually to see what some speedrunners can do.
03:19Because this game is hard.
03:22If you just blew me up, I would really want to take out of some speedrun Bomber Man.

03:37So in this case, what this will be the last time we'll do,

03:40This is actually not a kill all enemies.
03:42You might want to be a little more thoughtful about what we're doing here.
03:44We're actually just trying to get to the switches to unlock it.

04:01That's one of the drawbacks of getting all these power-ups.
04:04Your Bomber is so powerful that you can blow yourself up.
04:07That's actually a really great point.
04:08Sometimes I actually find myself looking for explosion downs or speed downs
04:12because I'm moving a little too quick or my explosion
04:14or you're just a little too out of control.
04:15And you'll see those.
04:16Those are usually considered negatives,
04:18but you can use them in an intelligent way in this game.
04:20That's interesting.
04:20Because sometimes your Bomber gets so big that it's almost like a hazard.
04:23You can get it all the way across the map.
04:24It gets a little bit out of control.
04:26So you're going to blow yourself up there.
04:28We're going to wear out a couple of our lives really fast
04:29because it's just not just Bomberman style.
04:34I love that there's some verticalities in levels, too.
04:36So you have to think about an explosion.
04:38Is it going to travel uphill?
04:40No, it's not.
04:41So you kind of have to.
04:41Actually, that's a good point.
04:43Let's show them one more level
04:43because there's some really good verticality
04:45on the next couple of levels coming up.
04:47And there is some travel up time.
04:49And we can just give them a visual sense of this.

04:54So this has got the stairs that go up.
04:56And you're right.
04:57It totally makes the entire ramp.
04:59Yeah, it totally makes the complexion of the map a little bit different.
05:02And we're naturally separated.
05:03And you've seen the first of my most hated enemies,
05:05which is the frogs.
05:06Tracking those guys down is a real.

05:10It's a real top.

05:12He'll do all kinds of crows.
05:13I still feel bad about blowing up these balloons, though, man.

06:04Now, for our purposes in this demo build,
06:06we got a lot of coins, these gems that are going to accumulate.
06:09But in the final game, you're going to earn these through gameplay.
06:11And you're going to think,
06:12why wouldn't I ever just spend it on continues?
06:14Well, because there's really cool cosmetics that go along with this
06:17that you want to go and unlock.
06:18And you may not want to spend your gems on continues.
06:20So you might actually just have to give up.
06:23And that'll actually restart you back at the beginning of the world.
06:25And that's a true throwback to the old school retro style where,
06:28yeah, you get your lives and you can try to make it through those levels.
06:30But if you die, you're punished.
06:32You're punished a little bit.
06:33And I like that mechanic for myself.
06:35You can make the choice.
06:36You can spend the coins or not.
06:37For our purposes, let's give up just this once.
06:39Yes.
06:40And obviously right now we have 50,000 gems.
06:42But that's because.

06:44We set it up for the demo.

07:28You can keep adding people in all the way up to eight, which is pretty cool.
