00:31La person on the wheel ha qualche informazione,
00:33la person on the map ha altre informazioni.
00:35All the rocks and smaller nuances of the world design,
00:38you have to see them, from the wheel or on the crowsnest.
00:42A person on the wheel might not be able to see all the rocks and reefs,
00:44so a player in the crowsnest or hanging out in front of the ship
00:46is going to be able to see that information.
00:48So you all need to work together to give each other
00:50the information that you need to navigate.
00:52I think for me the breakthrough was the map.
00:54Like, when I think back to when we first broke up in quests,
00:56it was getting the map in,
00:58which was just a singular map at the time
00:59that only one person could carry.
01:01And that kind of enforced the social mechanics
01:03around looking at it and showing it to your crew.
01:06And I remember the first playtest that we had
01:07when you were showing the map, it was awesome.
01:10It was like, when you were physically showing it to them
01:11and you were seeing them huddle around you
01:13and first person you were like,
01:14we're onto something here, we need to build off this.
01:16That was the start of it,
01:17because the cooperative digging came a lot later actually, didn't it?
01:20Much later, yeah.
01:21Before it was just like a singular person digging.
01:23Yeah, so a singular person had the shovel,
01:25a singular person had the map,
01:27and basically it meant that people were more, like,
01:29kind of forced into rolls, which we didn't want.
01:32And we wanted everyone to have the ability
01:33to do any roll at any time.
01:35And that actually just made it blossom
01:37into being even more social,
01:39and the best type of social that we wanted,
01:41because as soon as we gave everyone the shovel,
01:42it felt like, well, let's let everybody dig it up together
01:45and it'd be faster.
01:47So when you've got to the treasure and dug it up,
01:51it doesn't end there, because the minute you dig up that chest...
01:54It's only at risk for a certain amount of time, basically.
01:57That's the crucial thing to remember.
01:59It's in your hands if you get it back safely, literally.
02:02If you get it back safely to an outpost
02:04and sell it to the shipwright, that's it then.
02:06It's your gold forever.
02:07It's your suspense.
02:07It's your gold.
02:09But once you've dug it up, that's it.
02:11If there's somebody nearby, if they shoot you, if they kill you,
02:14or they overcome you, they can steal that from you.
02:16It's technically not your gold then anyway.
02:18That's what makes it so tense and so enjoyable for me.
02:20You kind of, like, naturally just designate roles.
02:22Like, oh, quick, someone protect me,
02:24because it's just instinctive to get someone to, like,
02:26follow you with a blender bus or with a pistol
02:27or someone might scout ahead a little bit or...
02:29Well, I mean, it was a very deliberate design decision
02:31to make the chest be something that is a shared benefit
02:36for the whole crew.
02:37So it's something that you all rally around.
02:39It bonds you together and it's something
02:40that you all want to protect together.
02:42Yeah, exactly.
02:42It's great on the other side, though, as well.
02:44Like, there's nothing better than cashing in a chest
02:46Someone else's chest.
02:47With someone else's hard work.
02:49Yeah.
02:50I think that going on the quest is kind of the culmination
02:53of all these co-operative mechanics
02:55where this pirate crew is bonded together,
02:58going on an adventure together.
03:00Yeah, with these set of tools that you can all work together,
03:02you can all cooperate, collaborate together.
03:04With this goal of treasure in mind.
03:05Yeah, exactly.
03:10That may be quite funny.
03:13That may be quite funny.
