00:00It's big enough to tap dance in.
00:04Four sets of holiday hosts.
00:06Oh, wow, look at this.
00:07Fantastic views.
00:09Check in to each other's places.
00:11Good morning.
00:12Welcome to the Drayton Crown.
00:13And get to grips with one another.
00:15I'm a fair weather nudist.
00:17If it's warm weather, I'll get the boy out.
00:19If not, he's staying on.
00:22Today, the guests savour the flavour.
00:25I could probably drink this like pop.
00:28As they battle.
00:30For the price we'd pay in, I'd expect more facilities.
00:34To be named best value for money.
00:36Pillows and protectors stained?
00:39Dribble?
00:40No.
00:46The second visit of the week is to Tavistock in Devon.
00:50And the Horn of Plenty.
00:52Run by Sarah Woodhouse and Paula Dunn.
00:54Twin sisters who know minutes matter.
00:58I was born first and I was born 20 minutes later.
01:02Sarah's 20 minutes older and don't I know it.
01:05She reminds me constantly.
01:08Whenever there's a decision to be made, it's look to the elder.
01:11Hoo-hoo-hoo.
01:12And then look for experience.
01:17Guests after a stay for the ages can choose from 16 rooms for up to £360 a night, including
01:23breakfast, in a place the hosts think is on the money.
01:27We might be a little more expensive than your run-of-the-mill hotel, but we're a little bit
01:32different.
01:33Each room is decorated to an exceptionally high standard.
01:37Quiet, relaxing and the best place to come and stay.
01:41And this pair are hoping for a clean sweep.
01:43We have an amazing housekeeping team.
01:46They will go through with the fine-toothed comb to make sure everything is spit-spot.
01:51About to arrive are today's first guests.
01:54My ears have popped from this steep hill.
01:58Is it going to make you less deaf?
02:02I'll take that as a no.
02:04What's that?
02:06With their ear to the ground, our friends Jordan Cave and Robin Porter, of the Drayton Crown
02:12in Drayton Somerset.
02:14During the last visit on a boat trip, Paula and Robin joined forces.
02:19I'm ex-military and they have a mock-up of a ship and you have to work as a team
02:25to try
02:26and stop it flooding.
02:28It's amazing!
02:29Oh, wow!
02:31I've done that as well.
02:32Have you?
02:33So are you ex-Navy?
02:34Yeah.
02:35So today, the boys are expecting a force to be reckoned with.
02:39I imagine Paula's ex-military side is going to make everything be on point.
02:44Yeah, everything will be spit and span.
02:48Whoa!
02:49Wow!
02:50Whoa!
02:52We might as well just give them the plaque now.
02:57Hello.
02:58Hello.
02:58How's it going?
02:59You all right?
02:59Welcome to the Hall of Plenty.
03:01Tonight, you're going to be in room 17, which is £360 and that includes breakfast.
03:07If you'd like to head out towards the coach house and you're on the first floor.
03:11Thank you very much.
03:17That's fabulous.
03:18I was not expecting it to be this fancy, to be honest.
03:22As Jordan and Robin soak it all in, today's next guests are making a splash.
03:28Did you bring your budgie smuggish?
03:30Did you bring your budgie smugglers?
03:30I've got my swim shorts.
03:32You know I don't wear the budgie smugglers.
03:34Bringing the bare essentials are couple Simon Thomas and Vanessa Dolby at the Angove Guesthouse
03:41in Weymouth Dorset.
03:43Last time, over breakfast, Sarah and Paula gave the group a taste of their place.
03:48We're going to welcome you to our hotel next, a luxurious boutique hotel.
03:53Oh, lovely.
03:54Fantastic.
03:55So today, Simon and Vanessa are down for high end.
03:59They're powerful words, luxury and boutique.
04:02I do think that there's going to be those extra touches.
04:05And hopefully with some facilities such as hot tub.
04:08It needs to have the wow factor, really.
04:11Hello.
04:12Welcome to the Hall of Plenty.
04:13You're going to be in room 14 tonight.
04:15That's £360.
04:17Enjoy your stay.
04:22Oh, this is spacious.
04:24Very nice.
04:25Very modern.
04:26Yes.
04:27With Simon and Vanessa bang up to date, today's final guests are set for anything.
04:32Are you ready?
04:33Did you pack everything?
04:34Do you even need to ask me if I've packed and if I'm on time?
04:39No.
04:39I'm not always late.
04:41I'm usually late.
04:42Mm-hm.
04:43Taking their time are Louise Shaw and Dagger Drill of the Hotel Penzance in Penzance Cornwall.
04:50Last time when they hosted...
04:52Hello and welcome to the Hotel Penzance.
04:55Despite first-rate first impressions...
04:57This is wow nice.
04:58They've clearly spent some money doing these rooms up.
05:00Fantastic views.
05:02This is spectacular.
05:03Oh, wow.
05:04This is nice.
05:05It's lovely, isn't it?
05:06On closer inspection, the guests gave the place a dusting down.
05:11Well, little tiny bits of dust.
05:13The finish has let the bathroom down a little.
05:16Have you noticed that on the wall?
05:18TV's about to fall off.
05:20Whoa.
05:21Which, come feedback, meant a mixed bag.
05:23Maybe an eight.
05:24Give them a seven.
05:25What do you think?
05:26I agree.
05:27I reckon give them a six.
05:28Six?
05:29That's really low.
05:31But today, Louise and Dagger aren't sore over the scores.
05:35We're just going to be us.
05:37We're going to enjoy the experience.
05:38But in the back of my mind, I will remember the comments and I will remember the scores.
05:44Yeah.
05:45Good morning, ladies.
05:46Welcome to the Horn of Plenty.
05:48Today you're going to be in room 16.
05:50And that is £360.
05:52Enjoy your stay.
05:54See you later.
05:57Oh, wow.
05:58I really like it, but I'm not wowed.
06:01I'm not seeing £360.
06:04What are we getting for our money?
06:06With the hosts out of the way, the guests can sound out the horn.
06:11Nice and clean.
06:12Nice.
06:13This is beautifully clean.
06:15It looks clean, man.
06:16And they've ironed the bedsheets.
06:18Lovely touch.
06:19To a military standard.
06:20Yeah.
06:21Paula.
06:22Oh, it's moving a little bit too much.
06:23Oh.
06:24I'm just worried that we're going to look.
06:26You see?
06:26Dagger.
06:27So we have a coffee machine.
06:29Lovely.
06:30And a good selection of pods.
06:33Are they clean pillow protectors?
06:35Oh, no.
06:37Look.
06:38It's a huge dribble stain.
06:41You're tall enough to check.
06:44Nothing at all.
06:45Very good.
06:46Yeah.
06:47See how the pillow look like?
06:49They really stain.
06:50There's a minibar.
06:51There's a priceless there.
06:52I'd have expected maybe one of the half bottles to be included in the price.
06:56It's nice that we've got a coffee machine.
06:58And coffee pods.
07:00Oh.
07:00Oh.
07:01Nice.
07:02There's a few crumbs on the edge.
07:04Just need a bit more attention to detail in the cleaning.
07:07Oh, there's a hair little bit on my duvet.
07:09Oh, and I have a little curly one on my linen.
07:14Right there.
07:17Whoa.
07:18Look at that bathtub.
07:19It's a fantastic bathroom.
07:21It looks spotless as well.
07:23Oh, fridge.
07:25Nice touches, but we have to pay extra for them.
07:28They promised some luxury, so I'm expecting them to be nice and soft.
07:32Yep, that's very good quality.
07:34Nice and fluffy and thick.
07:37Oh, done.
07:37Dun, dun, dun.
07:40Yes.
07:40Nice and clean.
07:41Lovely.
07:42Oh, there's milk.
07:44I can see hairs and bits.
07:46The mirror's dusty as well.
07:48Look.
07:49Oh.
07:50Room inspection's almost over.
07:52Jordan and Robin have a close shave.
07:54I feel like I'm in a barber's chair.
07:55When do you lay down in a barber?
07:57When they do your beard.
07:58You wouldn't know that because you can't grow one.
08:01Simon and Vanessa cap it all off.
08:03Perfect.
08:04You look like you're about to make the sandwiches for lunch.
08:06And Louise and Dagger make their mark.
08:09That's not been cleaned properly.
08:11They've not passed my toilet roll test.
08:19Tavistock is credited as the birthplace of the Devonshire cream tea,
08:23a tradition said to have been started by a local group of monks.
08:28And today, Sarah and Paula are praying for a great day out at a local vineyard.
08:33This is definitely my time of afternoon,
08:35but it depends how large the vineyard is and how soon we get to the wine.
08:41The group are being given a flavour of the place by owner Tom.
08:45We're a family business.
08:46We've been here for about 16 years.
08:48We kind of started out small as a hobby,
08:49but over the years we decided that we wanted to do what we loved all the time.
08:53That's when I say I retired and I get to do this all the time now.
08:57How long is the process the moment you plant the grapes?
09:01Three years just before you actually take your first crop.
09:03A year to then turn it into a still wine.
09:05So loads of waiting around.
09:07Best year we've ever had was about 15,000 bottles.
09:09Oh my goodness.
09:10So we've not run dry just yet.
09:12I've not visited an English vineyard before.
09:15I was very surprised by the amount of effort it takes
09:18to actually go from planting a vine to actually producing a bottle of wine.
09:23Process poured over.
09:25Gather round.
09:26The guests procure the final product.
09:29First up, this is our dry white,
09:31which is really lovely and delicate for the fruity flavour.
09:35I can smell the peach coming through and the citrus.
09:37Definitely citrusy.
09:38It is, isn't it?
09:39Oh, I like it.
09:40I really like it.
09:41It's delicious.
09:42Mine's evaporating.
09:44Paul and Sarah are brilliant.
09:46I think they're hilarious.
09:48Just the little one-liners and stuff.
09:49They're really funny, lovely little ladies.
09:52With the hosts all white, it's on to the red.
09:55Almost tastes a bit like strawberry.
09:56I could probably drink this like pop.
09:59And Paula pops a question.
10:01Other than wine, what other guilty pleasures have people got?
10:04Oh.
10:05I don't know if it's a guilty pleasure,
10:07but I'm obsessed with Pickledunny and Monster Munch.
10:09Oh, yeah, I get that.
10:11We like going dancing.
10:12Oh, what type of dancing?
10:14So it started off as the rock.
10:16I couldn't do it, so we had to change.
10:18We do ballroom dancing now.
10:20Yeah.
10:21I bet you're beautiful.
10:22No.
10:25I can imagine Vanessa and Simon doing ballroom dancing,
10:28so it didn't shock me.
10:30Their very appearance, yeah.
10:31Yeah.
10:32Do you know what I mean?
10:32I do.
10:33What do you mean?
10:33Yeah.
10:34With the tasting coming to an end,
10:36the hosts pay lip service to the next round.
10:39I'm a little bit apprehensive with the drinks tonight.
10:42Because then the questions are directed on us.
10:44Hopefully the wine has loosened people up a little bit.
10:47I hope so.
10:54The second visit of the week is to Tavistock in Devon
10:57and the Horn of Plenty,
10:59where tonight hosts Sarah and Paula
11:01have invited their guests for a lol in the lounge.
11:04Cheers.
11:05Cheers.
11:06And with glasses raised, Robin's seen double.
11:10So, obviously you two are twins.
11:12Do you ever have fun with that?
11:14Yeah.
11:14It confuses the guests, doesn't it?
11:17Yeah, they think one person is here 24 hours a day.
11:20But Paula gets fed up of guests coming and say,
11:22well, hello, Sarah, how are you?
11:24And she'll just say, yeah, fine, thank you.
11:25Just so-called, I'm really tired.
11:29You're saying I look tired?
11:33If you're not doing tricks now,
11:36you did when you was younger.
11:37I hope so.
11:38When we were younger,
11:39Paula used to go out with a guy.
11:42And then somebody else,
11:43and then somebody else.
11:44And somebody caught her with the somebody else.
11:47And she said, no, it wasn't me, it was Sarah.
11:49She got away with it.
11:50Every time she got away with it.
11:53I do think Paula and Sarah was great hosts.
11:56They have a great sense of humour.
11:58Yeah.
11:59They was doing a fantastic job.
12:01Twin tales told, Louise gets down to business.
12:05What would you say your key selling point is here?
12:09We pride ourselves on fine dining.
12:12We currently have two AA rosettes.
12:15We are hoping that within 12 months,
12:18we'll have our Michelin star.
12:20Oh, I want the Michelin.
12:21What would everybody else say that their unique selling point was?
12:25So we're a proper country pub known for real ale
12:28and just good pub grub.
12:30Awesome.
12:30Our guests come to us because we are a traditional British seaside guest house.
12:36In Weymouth.
12:37Do you also call it Weymouth?
12:42Traditional guest house to me says it's somebody's house pretty much.
12:46I've got mixed feelings about that.
12:48I'm not a big fan.
12:49I'll see how that pans out.
12:51Next, Paula puts her guests between a rock and a hard place.
12:55I've got a quick question for everybody's partners
12:58to talk about their other partner.
13:00If you were on a desert island, so let's say Vanessa,
13:04what do you think Simon's one item would be?
13:07I think Simon would take jelly babies.
13:10It would be someone to talk to.
13:12Then when he's got nothing else to say, he can eat them.
13:17What about you guys?
13:18Maybe a keg of ale.
13:20Yeah.
13:20Yes.
13:21He's actually very wrong.
13:22I would take one of those water purifying straws.
13:26So I'd be slurping on seawater just fine.
13:30No.
13:30No problems.
13:32Robin's answer of taking a water filter to the desert island,
13:35I think, was very practical.
13:37He must be a very practical guy, I think.
13:39I suspect he runs his business like that as well.
13:41Very logically.
13:43Drink's done.
13:44It's all off to bed.
13:45Are you ready for breakfast?
13:47I'm definitely looking forward to it.
13:48I mean, two rosettes.
13:50That's going to be a great breakfast.
13:51Mm-hmm.
13:52Right.
13:52Good night.
13:53Night, darling.
13:53Good night.
13:59It's a sunny start in Devon.
14:01How did you sleep?
14:02I slept amazingly well, actually.
14:04I slept very well as well.
14:06The sheets are really good quality.
14:08A proper luxury bed.
14:09But Louise and Dagger have views on the balcony.
14:12I went to have a coffee and you have to bring the chairs in to be able to turn them
14:19around.
14:19You can't just go and sit out there.
14:25Over in the main building, it's almost time for the most important meal of the day.
14:30I think breakfast will impress our guests this morning.
14:33We've got a great team of chefs.
14:35I would consider our breakfast to be quite luxurious, wouldn't you?
14:39Top end.
14:40Morning.
14:40Good morning.
14:41Good morning.
14:42And with the last guests seated, Sarah's out to meet and greet.
14:46Good morning.
14:47OK, what may I get you, please?
14:49The full English with poached eggs.
14:52Could I please have the full English with poached?
14:56The smoked salmon and scrambled egg and my toast, brown toast, with that, please.
15:00Thank you very much.
15:01I'll put the order in.
15:02Thank you very much.
15:03And with orders relayed...
15:04OK, check on for breakfast, please.
15:07The guests critique the boutique.
15:09For me, I've never stayed in a place like this.
15:11I can't afford to, but I really like it.
15:14The fact we're here with just loads of walks around is right up my street.
15:19I've stayed in five-star spa resorts with tranquil surroundings.
15:25For the price we'd pay in, I'd expect more facilities.
15:29I think we're like you, Louise.
15:31We would go somewhere with the sauna, the jacuzzi, the swim.
15:34We're not walkers.
15:35We're not foodies.
15:36So it's not really our thing.
15:38The other two couples are maybe missing the whole point of this place.
15:41It's here to relax, enjoy the local scenery.
15:44I don't really see what anybody has to say about this place negatively.
15:49With opinions divided, the plates are hot to trot.
15:54Have your breakfast for you.
15:56Excellent.
15:56Full English with poached eggs.
15:59Thank you very much.
16:00The smoked salmon and scrambled egg.
16:02Lovely.
16:03And have some brown toast for you.
16:08I'm very happy with that.
16:09That looks lovely.
16:10It was even presented quite arty.
16:13Mm.
16:13Flavours are nice.
16:14Really tasty.
16:15Really tasty.
16:16It's really well cooked.
16:18The mushroom in particular, it's got fantastic flavour.
16:21That mushroom is really tasty.
16:23There's a lot of flavour in every part of the dish.
16:25Really, really, really good.
16:27Mm.
16:27The actual cooked breakfast was fantastic.
16:30Clearly locally sourced and high quality.
16:33Hot food hitting the spot.
16:35Dagger wants a taste of what's to come.
16:37I wonder where we're going to go next and what to expect.
16:41So our place, we're in a beautiful Georgian building.
16:44It's old world charm, vintage.
16:47It's more home from home.
16:48Very different to the luxury that we've experienced today.
16:53But yeah, hopefully everybody feels comfortable.
16:55And hopefully you'll find it to be a home away from home.
16:58Oh, lovely.
16:59Looking forward to it.
17:00I do like the homely feel and I like people who make you feel like you're at home when you
17:04go away.
17:05We're going to be so relaxed and just enjoy this day.
17:08Yeah.
17:09Breakfast finished.
17:10The guests head back to their rooms to fill out the anonymous feedback forms.
17:14How were your hosts at the Horn of Plenty?
17:17Friendly and lots of fun.
17:20Ten for that.
17:20Definitely a ten.
17:21How clean was the Horn of Plenty?
17:23Very clean, really.
17:25A few crumbs on the hospitality tray.
17:29Definitely a nine.
17:30Pretty much the whole place was spotless throughout.
17:32The sheets were clean and even ironed to a military standard.
17:36It's got to be a ten.
17:36Yeah, a hundred percent.
17:37We did have a good first impression.
17:40Yeah.
17:41But then various hairs and dust in places.
17:45Pillow and protector stained with what looks like dribble.
17:50Dirty toilet.
17:51The dirty toilet.
17:52And we're going for six.
17:53We're going for six.
17:54Okay.
17:55How were the facilities?
17:57Good selection of coffee pods.
17:59We were expecting more.
18:02More included.
18:03For the price.
18:04Overall, we're still going to give them a nine, aren't we?
18:06Yeah.
18:07All round fantastic room.
18:09So, I reckon ten.
18:11Yeah, ten.
18:12Good touches in room.
18:13But I'm going to write expected more.
18:16And more free goodies.
18:17Yeah, we didn't have any free goodies.
18:19Balcony too small.
18:21Definitely.
18:22And then the moving beds.
18:25What were you thinking?
18:26I feel seven.
18:27Yes.
18:28How did you sleep?
18:29It was great.
18:30Luxurious bed.
18:31And bedding.
18:32And bedding.
18:32Definitely a ten.
18:34Definitely a ten.
18:35So, how was your breakfast?
18:36I can't fault it.
18:38Very well presented.
18:39Fantastically cooked.
18:40It's got to be a ten.
18:41Yeah.
18:42So, the last question.
18:44Would you stay here again?
18:46100% yes.
18:47It's got to be a yes.
18:49It doesn't hit that mark.
18:50It's going to be a no.
18:52It doesn't give us what we want.
18:54So, sadly, it's a no.
18:57Now the guests must pay what they think their stay was worth.
19:01Are we in agreement?
19:02Yeah.
19:03The cash will be kept under wraps until the end of the competition.
19:06But for now, Sarah and Paula can see if the guests blew the horn's trumpet.
19:10How clean was the horn of plenty?
19:13Ten.
19:14Yes.
19:15Spotless throughout.
19:16Sheet cleaned and ironed to a military standard.
19:20Well, hey.
19:21How were your facilities?
19:22Ten again.
19:23Fantastic room.
19:24Amazing.
19:25How was your breakfast?
19:27Another ten.
19:28Well presented.
19:29Fantastically cooked.
19:31What more could we want?
19:32Bye, ladies.
19:33Bye.
19:34Shall we see if they'd like to stay again?
19:36Let's.
19:37Yes.
19:38We will welcome them back, for sure.
19:41Let's go to the next one.
19:42How clean was the horn of plenty?
19:44Nine.
19:45Mmm.
19:46Very clean.
19:47A few crumbs on the hospitality tray.
19:50We put homemade biscuits on the hospitality tray.
19:54Maybe a crumb dropped out of the wrapping.
19:57How were your facilities?
19:59Nine.
20:00Not delighted.
20:01I'm happy.
20:02Good selection of coffee pods.
20:04That's a nice comment.
20:05We were expecting more included in the price.
20:08I think we offer quite a lot.
20:10How did you sleep?
20:11Ten.
20:12Luxurious bed and bedding.
20:14Absolutely thrilled.
20:16It's been a pleasure to have you.
20:18Oh, thank you.
20:18Bye-bye.
20:19We've got one, yes.
20:20Shall we see if we've got another one?
20:22No.
20:23No.
20:23I think that's because of the cost.
20:26Yes.
20:26But it's not their cup of tea.
20:28No.
20:29Let's find out what the final cup will have to say.
20:31How were your hosts at the Horn of Plenty?
20:34Ten.
20:35Friendly.
20:35Lots of fun.
20:36So that's good.
20:38Summed us up.
20:39Yes.
20:39How clean was the Horn of Plenty?
20:42Six.
20:43Oh, dear.
20:44Good first impression.
20:46That's fair.
20:47Various hairs and dust in places.
20:49There certainly was none in the bedroom.
20:52No.
20:52Pillows and protector stained.
20:55Dribble.
20:56No.
20:56We change the pillow protectors every time somebody leaves the room.
21:01Dirty toilet.
21:02I'm sorry, I don't agree with that.
21:04No.
21:04There's a lot of questions to ask in here.
21:07How were your facilities?
21:08Seven.
21:09I'm disappointed for a seven.
21:11Good touches in room, but expected more.
21:15I don't think there's any more that you could put in there.
21:17A bit perplexed on that one.
21:19No free goodies.
21:21What do they want, like?
21:22A free goodie bag.
21:23We're not the hotel that offers free goodies.
21:26Balcony too small.
21:27This is Dagger and Louise.
21:29They were the only ones with the balcony.
21:31For most people, the balcony is sufficient.
21:34Moving beds.
21:35If they do move, then we can sort it out.
21:38Well, I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
21:40Thank you ever so much, ladies.
21:41Bye-bye.
21:42Bye-bye.
21:43I think I know what to expect.
21:44I know what to expect as well.
21:46No.
21:46This is their opinion, and it's just not for them, is it?
21:50No.
21:50So the first two couples were really good.
21:53Yes.
21:53A bit controversial on the last one.
21:55We've got some pretty serious questions to ask on payment day.
21:59Let's hope they've got the answers.
22:00Absolutely.
22:02Next time, when Simon and Vanessa host...
22:05Hello.
22:06Good morning.
22:07The group make waves...
22:08Come on, guys, it's lovely!
22:10..and fantasies take flight.
22:13What would be your dream job?
22:15Probably a commercial airline pilot.
22:17Oh, wow.
22:18I quite like the outfit.
