00:30So, tweak the gameplay slightly with a few little additions to bring it up to date to modern standards, changes
00:34of the controls, to bring the game in line with what you'd expect from a modern cover-based shooter.
00:44We're looking at some pre-beta footage, as it says at the top there. It's from the opening sequence of
00:49the first level, introducing you to the characters in the game.
00:52So, we've got Rogue here, who's just dropped into the Quartz Zone battle area.
00:58We've got a whole battle going on here. The Norts have ambushed the Souther GIs, the genetic infantrymen, and Rogue
01:07is now fighting for his life.
01:09And here comes one of his colleagues. This is Gunnar, one of his brethren, brothers in arms, one of the
01:16other genetic infantrymen you'll meet in the game.
01:19Gunnar is a character from the original comic, as is all the genetic infantrymen you'll meet in this, and he
01:27will end up as a biochip in your gun.
01:30So, he's aptly named. The comic pulls no punches there. It's got no apologies for making the characters as named
01:37as they are.
01:37You've got Bagman, you've got Helm, and you've got Gunnar. You can guess where they all end up.
01:42Each of the genetic infantrymen has a biochip, which records their experiences, all their battlefield knowledge, all the things they've
01:51done.
01:51And when they die, they live on inside the biochips. So, you can, as you're about to see here, when
01:58Gunnar dies, because spoilers, he's about to die,
02:02he will be saved and installed in Rogue's Rifle. So, he will live to fight another day. At least, that's
02:08the theory.
02:16Rogue's now going to come and take a revenge for the death of his colleague. This guy here is called
02:21a Kashan, one of the Nort elite infantrymen.
02:24You can see what Rogue makes of him. Not a lot.
02:29Gunnar's bleeding out on the floor here. He needs to be saved. He's got 30 seconds to get the biochip
02:35out of his dead comrade's body.
02:38and install it into one of the sockets in his equipment.
02:44Poor Gunnar. Just a bit gung-ho, I'm afraid.
02:47He was pretty much destined to die from minute one, but that's the way the comic has it.
02:51That's the way it needs to be.
02:58This is one of the other genetic infantrymen fighting a Nort with a lazuka there.
03:03I'm afraid this doesn't end well, but it does leave you this handy lazuka here, which you can use to
03:08take on this Black Mare tank.
03:09Now, the Black Mare tank, as you can see, is an enormous thing, so you won't be destroying it completely,
03:15but with the use of the lazuka we can destroy those two turrets which are holding back the genetic infantrymen
03:21you can see at the bottom there.
03:23If you watch the shock coming down, that's the first turret gone. We've got another turret to go.
03:30And that's an attack hopper flying past one of the Nort's attack aircraft which will cause you some grief later
03:36on.
03:38And then we cut to one of the anti-aircraft guns.
03:41There's another GI drop pod which has got another of your comrades in.
03:45This is Bagman, who, not to ruin the surprise, will end up in your bag in a few moments' time.
03:55Now, Bagman, he's your own personal quartermaster, so he's going to give you all the ammo you need.
04:00When he ends up in your bag later on, he's going to manufacture new ammo based on the salvage that
04:06you collect around the world.
04:06So that's one of the features of Rogue Trooper, you don't just pick up ammunition from enemies you kill.
04:11You get salvage, which you can then use to turn into whatever ammunition you like for your favourite weapons.
04:17There's a kill move there, Rogue taking a stealth kill.
04:21There's plenty of exciting animations for you to enjoy.
04:25Various gruesome deaths that you can inflict on the Norts.
04:28They deserve it, they're not nice people.
04:32And that's a drill probe coming out of the ground there.
04:34There's one of the ways that Norts are delivered to the battlefield.
04:37Something from the original comics.
04:41Here we've got a little sniping tutorial.
04:43You come up and take this emplacement.
04:47And then you can use the emplacements to finish off the rest of the Norts.
04:51You're not going to run out of ammunition with that.
04:54Using the GI rifle sniper scope there, with Gunart helping your aim.
04:59He can stabilise your aim and prevent you from missing your targets, which is a nice touch.
05:07And now we're up on the AA gun that we saw earlier to take out those attack hoppers.
05:12Destroy them one by one.
05:14Fighting our way through the Nort emplacements.
05:16The explosives in the environment are very useful for killing Norts as well.
05:23And here we are.
05:24Bagman's going in.
05:26Hmm, not going to end well.
05:32So our rogue's pretty upset.
05:33Another of his comrades down.
05:35But another chance to get another biochip for your bag.
