00:00Liverpool City Council's new Anti-Poverty Framework sets out a 10-year vision to prevent, reduce and limit the impact
00:07of poverty across the city.
00:09The plan coordinates existing initiatives and encourages closer working between council services, partners and communities to address local needs.
00:19Key areas include improving access to affordable food and free school meals, expanding self-contained housing support, tackling digital exclusion
00:29with devices and free mobile data and supporting children, families and vulnerable groups.
00:34The framework also aims to promote inclusive employment and economic growth while considering poverty in major council decisions.
00:43Around 37% of Liverpool neighbourhoods remain in the most deprived 10% nationally, and over 53% of children
00:51live in income-deprived households.
00:54Certain groups, including children, older residents and some ethnic minority communities are particularly at risk.
01:01Councillor Ruth Bennett said the framework ensures joined up evidence-based action to tackle root causes, support residents earlier and
01:10give everyone an opportunity to succeed.
01:13Additional measures include maintaining the £2.1 million Liverpool Citizen Support Scheme, expanding face-to-face services, rebuilding youth services
01:23and creating a multi-year crisis resilience fund from April 2026.
