00:00ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
00:38Good to hear from Jimmy Buckets as we take a look at the four starting lineup presented by your California
00:45auto dealers.
00:46Of course, Brendan Pajewski, D'Anthony Melton in the backcourt.
00:49Will Richard, despite getting ringed by Steve Curry yesterday, he's in the starting lineup.
00:54Or coached.
00:55No, no, no.
00:56Keith said, so it's a J-Mon Green back in the lineup as their small ball five.
01:00Now, this is the 12th consecutive game where the Warriors have had a different starting lineup.
01:04They've had 35 different lineups in all.
01:06How do you gain rhythm?
01:08How do you get chemistry?
01:10How do you gain chemistry on this basketball team?
01:11Well, one guy who's been hooping as of late is Brendan Pajewski.
01:14We're going to break it down.
01:15Last night, 25-6-5 at Madison Square Garden.
01:18What's he doing so well right now, Willie?
01:19Yeah, Pajewski's been playing great basketball.
01:22And a big thing Steve Kerr's asked him is to be decisive.
01:25Don't over-dribble.
01:26Try and get to your move with one, two, or three dribbles.
01:30And here, great example.
01:32Gets the switch.
01:33Goes right at Cat.
01:34Nice little – gets to the other side of the rim.
01:36Straight line drive.
01:38Not playing with his food in the half.
01:40Ooh, I like that.
01:42I mean, you talk about a guy who goes from being a connector to being, like, the primary offensive guy.
01:48You see – whatever you want to call it.
01:50Foul-baiting, whatever it is.
01:52He's playing the game.
01:53They're close to Broadway.
01:55A little acting.
01:56But right here, attacking.
01:58As soon as you get the ball, attacking, put the ball on the floor.
02:01Off the window.
02:01That's a foul.
02:02Off the glass.
02:03Banks open.
02:04Here we go.
02:04Nice pickup point at half court.
02:07Jalen Brunson a little casual.
02:09Give me that.
02:09I'll take that.
02:10This is right.
02:11This right here is tough.
02:122-1 on the Villanova guys.
02:14Drop it off for GP2.
02:16Great catch and finish by GP2.
02:17Great catch.
02:19Great finish.
02:20Oh, wow.
02:21Left English off the glass.
02:23I mean, he's doing a great job.
02:25What I love about that first quarter, especially, he set the tone.
02:28He's the point guard.
02:28You're the guy with the ball in your hands.
02:30Your job is to create opportunities for other guys.
02:32I thought he got guys in rhythm, guys like Quentin Post.
02:35They got the ball early.
02:36And so, he, you know, got guys in the floor and then he could attack.
02:39That's what I want to see moving forward as well.
02:41The fact that everybody else is aggressive and then you as the point guard,
02:45you can attack the second side of the defense.
02:46I think you said something earlier when we watched that pull-up three,
02:50which we all like, the shot.
02:52Pods is one of the hardest workers on that team.
02:56He's a gym rat.
02:57He's always working on his skills, putting in extra time.
03:00So, his, you know, some people may look at him as having irrational confidence.
03:05It's rational confidence because he makes those shots in empty gyms.
03:10So, I think when he pulls up, when you see these moves that he makes,
03:14much like Steph Curry, he's worked on them.
03:18This is not something he's just pulling out of his back pocket during the game.
03:22So, he's very confident, rightfully so, because he puts the time in.
03:27Shout out Santa Clara, 7th, 10th seed, playing Kentucky in the first round.
03:31Let's go.
03:32In the NCAA tournament.
03:33Pods is playing well.
03:34The Warriors, they're desperate for a win.
03:36Maybe it comes tonight in the nation's capital.
03:38As we go out there to Fitz and Buki.
03:40Of course, Bob Fitzgerald, Colin Azubuki, calling the action as always here
03:43at NBC Sports Bay Area.
03:45But we were just discussing Pods, Fitz.
03:47I want to look at Guy Santos and what he's done.
03:50I mean, he's got one of the biggest bargains, the Warriors, that is,
03:52when it comes to the three-year, $15 million contract.
03:55And he's giving you effort, heart on both ends of the floor.
03:58Last night, put on a show against the New York Knicks.
04:00How about Guy and Pods here playing well for the Dubs?
04:04Well, that's the thing right now, Bonze.
04:06You take away superstars.
04:08Molly was a superstar.
04:10Guys can satellite around a star.
04:13But if the stars are out and it lands on their shoulders,
04:16these guys are 23 years old.
04:19And then, oh, by the way, you're on the road against the Knicks
04:21or you're playing the Rockets or Denver, hey, go win a game.
04:23That's not easy.
04:24Tough, tough.
04:25And Guy Santos, he just plays with a pure heart.
04:27And he definitely remembers what he did first to get minutes, right?
04:31He's always going to be able to be that hustle guy.
04:33He played around the stars.
04:34Right.
04:35Rebound, do all the things.
04:36So no matter who's in the game, he can go back to that.
04:39But, Molly, I feel like last night,
04:41one of the things that came out that was really important about that game
04:44was the start.
04:45Just to get off to a great start, jump on top of the Knicks,
04:49and make it tough on them,
04:50then at least you give yourself a chance in the end if they walk you down.
04:53You do that tonight,
04:55this Wizards team may have a tougher time walking you down
04:57and coming back from that.
04:58So just that punch, you've got the reinforcements tonight.
05:01Molly, coming back, you're still short-handed.
05:04Anything can happen this game.
05:05But just get off to a good start.
05:06Punch them in the mouth early
05:07and see what happens from there.
05:09Always important, Fitz and Buki, to get off to a good start.
05:12The NBA is a first-quarter league.
05:13Sixty-three percent of the teams that win the first quarter
05:16win the NBN game.
05:18So that's important.
05:19If they get off to a great start tonight,
05:21the Wizards will not come back.
05:22But I think it's really important, you know,
05:26you get the same energy and effort you did last night
05:28from the guys that played.
05:30But a little role reversal.
05:32It's on DeAnthi Melton, Draymond Green, and Christos Przingis,
05:37who all sat last night to pervert some extra energy
05:41and lift those guys up that played big minutes last night.
05:45All right, Festus, I want you to keep track of one number, 120.
05:50If you score 120 against the Wizards, you're 32-1.
05:55But if you score under 120, the Wizards are 15-18,
06:00which is pretty representative.
06:02So, Kay, this is the Utah game.
06:04I don't want to see 50 or 63s score inside, Festus.
06:09Rebound and get to 120.
06:12That's up to you, Festus, to work it into existence for the Dubs.
06:16Fitz, you got Mully looking and staring me down right now
06:19because what you're saying is in this game,
06:21offense is more important than defense.
06:23Is that what you're saying?
06:24Am I hearing you correctly?
06:26Yes.
06:26No, it's just fact.
06:27I want 120.
06:28I like my chances 32-1 if he gets to 120.
06:32Hey, Buk, you remember this.
06:33Every once in a while, Nelly would walk in the locker room,
06:36he'd erase the Sky Report and just go like this.
06:391, 2, 0.
06:41Bro, if we score 120, they can't beat us.
06:44Let's go.
06:46Yeah.
06:48Listen, offensively tonight, if you're settling,
06:51you're doing yourself a disservice.
06:52Yes, absolutely.
06:53You're just making the game so much tougher than it needs to be.
06:56You can run just your normal stuff.
06:58Everybody knows split action.
06:58Keep running split action if you want to.
07:00Get your cuts inside.
07:01Do whatever you got to do to score inside.
07:03Do not let this Wizards team off the hook.
07:06They'll have a tough time recovering.
07:07I mean, Buki, you also got to think,
07:09this team has also scored 110-plus in the last four or five games.
07:13So, you don't want them to get going.
07:15You don't want to turn this into a track meet where you could give them a chance at all.
07:19You got to make sure you're also shutting them down
07:21while you're running and doing other things on offense.
07:23The Wizards are going to win a game at some point, you'd think.
07:25They've lost 11 in a row.
07:26Just don't want it to come against you, Fitz and Buki.
07:29So, let's hopefully break this five-game losing streak
07:31and get you boys out of those ties as we send it back to D.C.
07:34Have a good call, fellas.
07:36Let's get to the important part.
07:37No ties for Boston.
07:39But the Warriors, they've lost five in a row, right?
07:42You take away a quarter against Minnesota in the second quarter last night.
07:45Other than that, they've played really good basketball.
07:48But Steve Kerr has said it.
07:53They've been battling.
07:54They've been fighting.
07:55And you want it to pay off.
07:57You want them to be rewarded.
07:58And they're getting tremendous experience.
08:00They are.
08:01You've got guys that aren't used to having the ball this much
08:04with the game on the line,
08:06trying to figure out how to play loose,
08:08make all the right decisions.
08:09That's all going to come as they keep getting the experience,
08:12keep putting themselves in the situation
08:14without hard they play from the jump
08:16and just keeping that consistent all the way through.
08:18And it's not easy on a long road trip.
08:20And that's where the Warriors are right now.
08:22Got into D.C. at 3.30 in the morning last night.
08:25Our Kaiser Permanente teamwork in action.
08:28Good game against the Knicks.
08:30This came down to the final seconds.
08:31But you know how road trips build up momentum.
08:34You've got to get one tonight.
08:35Yeah.
08:35You embrace everything that a long road trip means.
08:39The team camaraderie, the bonding,
08:41the card games on the plane rides and the meals.
08:44The different discussions you can kind of have,
08:46especially with some of these guys.
08:47Like, hey, what would I have done in this situation?
08:49A little differently.
08:50I had the ball there, so I had made that pass.
08:52All those discussions, you embrace that.
08:53And tonight, you may have to look at the scouting report
08:55maybe two or three times.
08:57For sure.
08:57To figure out what a Will Riley does, a Trey Johnson.
09:00Some of these guys you may not be as familiar with
09:02that are new in the league,
09:03but can give you buckets if you sleep on them.
09:06Kay's talking about growth for younger guys.
09:09When you have the stars,
09:10you can play around Jimmy Butler, around Steph Curry.
09:13When they're injured,
09:14a guy like Brandon Podjemski has it on his shoulders.
09:17He's 23 years of age, and yet you look in the last month,
09:21our prime player, these numbers are amazing.
09:25Nearly 20 points a game, seven rebounds,
09:27with efficient shooting.
09:29Pods is answering the bell.
09:30He's in a tough spot, having to play make
09:33and have the ball in his hands a little more and dictate,
09:36but he's doing a good job of initiating a lot of times,
09:39getting off the ball,
09:40and then getting it back later in the possession
09:42and still being able to play off a guy,
09:44still being able to run through some catches,
09:46make the .5 decision,
09:48and now it's just, okay, time to score,
09:51time and score late in games,
09:52decision-making late in games,
09:54shot selection late in games.
09:55All those things will come,
09:57maybe showing some restraint with some tough passes,
09:59had some tough passes in that Knicks game,
10:00but all in all, he's been playing so well,
10:03they wanted to keep going.
10:04Well, with the back-to-back, Porzingis is in,
10:07Draymond is in, Melton is in,
10:10and the Warriors want to get a win
10:11in a desperate way.
10:13They come to D.C. one time a year.
10:15It's always special to come to the nation's capital.
10:18The monuments are everywhere.
10:20The history is palpable.
10:22The Warriors, they want to leave the nation's capital
10:24with a win packed in their luggage.
10:27Bonte and the guys are back in the studio.
10:29120, that's the number we're looking for tonight.
10:32Five games in a row.
10:33They're three games under .500.
10:35Somebody's got to win today,
10:36so why not the Warriors, Fezzi?
10:38I mean, you have to,
10:38when you're going against the Washington Wizards,
10:40you've got to attack the boards.
10:41Because this is one of the worst offices out there.
10:44They're going to get second chance points.
10:45You don't want that to be the story of the game tonight.
10:48And to attack early, execute for the Warriors,
10:51got to get better and learn from the last game.
10:52Yeah, don't get in the way of the Wizards tanking
10:54and going for their dirty dozen streak.
10:57And look, if something's going to go crazy,
11:00it's going to be Trey Young.
11:01So we saw in that clip pod,
11:03the early pickup point, find Trey Young.
11:05Don't let him get going.
11:06Keep the crowd out of it and get this W.
11:09If there is a crowd.
11:10Yeah, it was a bunch of a crowd that we saw.
11:13Family and friends.
11:15Family and friends.
11:15Family and friends.
11:16Free tickets.
11:17I mean, I don't even know if people are accepting free tickets out there.
11:21Enjoy the first half, everybody.
11:23See you at the break.
11:48Second stop on a six-game road trip.
11:50Back end of a back-to-back in our nation's capital.
11:53The Warriors in Washington, D.C.,
11:56the first of two meetings as they take on the Wizards.
12:00And Washington's lost 11 in a row.
12:02The Warriors have lost five in a row.
12:04And the Dubs, they want to see something in the win column
12:07to pay off what has been very good basketball.
12:10Losing in the final seconds to the Knicks last night,
12:13flying here, getting to the hotel about 3.30 in the morning.
12:17No time and no rest for the weary K.
12:19Just find a way to win a road game in the NBA.
12:22Yeah, man, the Warriors are super hungry for a W.
12:25It's great to see the reinforcements tonight.
12:27And Draymond Green back, the Anthony Melton, all the guys.
12:31But, man, do not settle.
12:33This is a bad defensive team, 29th defensively, 28th opponent turnovers
12:39or opponent points in the paint.
12:41Let's see.
12:42This is going to be the Wizards ball to start.
12:45And then also you've got to think about the fact you want to start the game off
12:48the way you did against the Knicks.
12:50All the cutting you did, the split action you ran, you didn't settle,
12:55you were forcing turnovers, 50-50 balls, the energy you played with.
12:58Start this game the same way, jump on top of them early.
13:02So, for Washington, Trey Young is the main guy with Trey Johnson,
13:07who also was the number one pick.
13:09Will Riley and then Juju Reese, that's Angel Reese's brother.
13:14Riley wheeling in the lane to put it up and in to begin the scoring.
13:17Riley is 6'10".
13:19He's a three-level scorer.
13:20He's got some playmaking ability.
13:22He's got some pretty good handle.
13:24So, Melton is back with Pajemski.
13:26Draymond is back.
13:27Dee Santos and Will Richard.
13:30Draymond opens with the three.
13:33Boom!
13:34Juju Reese just wasn't close enough.
13:36Took advantage.
13:38Riley again.
13:39Kalena mentioned three levels.
13:41Well, one of those levels is getting to the foul line as he draws the foul.
13:45Oh, the early booms are always welcome, but you know how it started?
13:50With Dee Santos attacking the paint, collapsing the defense, making them help.
13:56And this is exactly how you want to create your threes.
13:59And Riley, man, he's tough, man.
14:02He knocked down the three ball.
14:04His coach actually said, his college coach was like,
14:08you know what, this guy is one of the best tough shot makers I've ever seen.
14:11He gets to his spot so easily for a 6'10 guy.
14:14Riley is actually compared to Keyshawn George, his teammate.
14:1821st pick in 2025 out of Illinois.
14:20One year there for Will Riley.
14:23So, Melton Draymond of Porzingis didn't play against the Knicks.
14:26And there's two back-to-backs on this trip.
14:28So, the Warriors kind of judging where the bodies would be freshest.
14:32And Dee Santos is fouled.
14:34Now, you said a phrase, and we're going to expand on it.
14:37Don't settle.
14:38Because the Wizards are a poor defensive rebounding team,
14:42and they're third-worst defensively.
14:44Settling for threes against Brian Keefe's team is a mistake.
14:48You just don't want to do that.
14:50Yeah, Brian Keefe, they just want to play super fast.
14:52Get as many possessions as possible.
14:53You want to win the possession foul.
14:55That's taking care of the ball.
14:56That's getting offensive rebounds.
14:58All of the above.
14:59And just what Podetsky did there.
15:01Didn't shoot a three.
15:02Drove and got fouled.
15:03But that's how they started last night against the Knicks.
15:05They only took 38 threes last night.
15:07A lot of show-and-go's, even Quinton Post when he started the game.
15:10It was show-and-go.
15:11Never settle.
15:12Really tested defense, especially if you have any type of ball movement.
15:17Juxtaposed 38 threes against the Knicks.
15:19There's Draymond scoring inside.
15:2238 against Houston and wins.
15:2452 against Utah in a loss.
15:27Especially if the Warriors can get great.
15:28That was a Podetsky back screen.
15:30He just clipped Draymond's man.
15:31But you're seeing the Warriors go through their sets.
15:35Draymond all the way to the rim.
15:36But Draymond, he's still on the minutes restriction.
15:38He's been averaging around 21 minutes a game, something like that.
15:41Only eight shots a game here.
15:43And coming from under 14, just under 14,
15:46and Podetsky misses a three with the Hawks this season.
15:48So that's going to continue to go up.
15:50He's going to get more comfortable.
15:53And into Reese on Draymond.
15:56Draymond was fouled.
15:57He smung the elbow and an offensive foul there.
16:01And that will be a turnover on Washington.
16:02And Gigi Reese, it's Angel Reese, his brother.
16:06Yeah, her brother.
16:07And he's known for his energy.
16:10Not terrible back-to-the-basket game.
16:12He's still a little bit raw there, but he's all-energy, high-motor, super-high-motor.
16:18He had pretty good position on Draymond there,
16:21but Draymond stood his ground.
16:24Now, Reese, four years at Maryland, and played in the G League.
16:30Undrafted.
16:30Potensky couldn't finish that.
16:32Reese bothered that.
16:33And Trey Young, he can score in bunches.
16:39Misfiring, Trey Johnson.
16:41One year in Texas, 37% from three-point range.
16:44Also, pretty good mid-range score, too.
16:47You get the Anthony melted inside.
16:49Not taking no for an answer.
16:51He's just going to go through somebody if you can't go by you.
16:53Well, you've got to make Trey Young play defense on the other end.
16:57I think Milton's going to like that matchup the whole night.
17:02Right now, they're drawing fouls as Koulibaly.
17:06Malau Koulibaly from France.
17:08He was the seventh pick in 2023, drawing the foul.
17:11So, you've got some space, right?
17:14Basically, five guys out.
17:15So, everybody kind of stays home.
17:18No one really stabbed at his drive.
17:20So, he knew he just had to deal with Trey Young.
17:23And D'Anthony Melton is saying, I'm bigger than him.
17:25Let's go bully ball.
17:26Remember Koulibaly played with Wemby.
17:28Yep.
17:29And he was kind of compared to OGN and OB coming out.
17:32You see some flashes of explosiveness.
17:35Well, he also protected.
17:36What's he going to look like body-wise?
17:38Because he's 21.
17:39And you said defensively, he already can play at this level.
17:43Whether or not offensively, he averages 11 a game.
17:46He had a great start to his rookie season.
17:49Now, he's shooting 30% from three-point range.
17:51They're just trying to find some consistency,
17:52which is the case with all these young players.
17:55It's always about consistency.
17:56Can you stack games?
17:59Scoring against the Wizards, that's the key.
18:02They've only won one game when their opponent gets to 120.
18:06They're 1-32 if their opponent hits 120.
18:10If they hold you under 120, they're 15-18.
18:14I mean, they're more than competitive if you don't have a scoring night.
18:20Jamski on the kick out.
18:21Will Richard catch-and-shoot off iron there?
18:26If you saw Draymond get a layup, you saw Melton get a layup there,
18:29you do not want to settle for threes tonight.
18:33Riley, good defense by Jamski there.
18:36Shot clock at 10.
18:38Trae Young cycling around.
18:41Will Richard knock that away with six to shoot?
18:43You saw Draymond there with a strong side show,
18:45just showing Trae Young an extra body,
18:49letting him know, you're going to have to pass this.
18:51We're going to make you pass this.
18:52And you're talking about the Warriors offensively.
18:54You can run some of your normal sets.
18:56The Warriors just ran the split action there.
18:58They're trying to exploit some of the switching.
19:01There's so many different reads you can make out of it.
19:03You just want to get a high percentage shot every single time down.
19:06Yeah, Quinton Post and LJ Pryor are out tonight.
19:10And they find.
19:12And they're going to go to the bottom of it.
19:15And they're going to go to the bottom of it.
19:16And they're going to go to the bottom of it.
19:16Well, Richard had to help in and then get back out
19:19because two defenders stayed up on that ball screen.
19:21Melton deflected it.
19:23GP two in after Guy Santos picked up two quick fouls.
19:27Draymond missing that three.
19:28And the Warriors fortunate.
19:30It will be out of bounds to the Doves.
19:31They live to see another day.
19:33We talked about the close game, clutch game experience
19:37these guys are getting.
19:39And the fact that you want to start off really well,
19:41just punch them in the mouth early.
19:42No matter what happens throughout the course of the game,
19:45you'll either be ahead or they'll have a tough time
19:47walking you down.
19:48Maybe you'll be in another close game situation.
19:50But you're working on all your decision-making
19:52throughout the game, too.
19:53Well, the start when you come in at 3.30 in the morning
19:56after traveling from New York,
19:58you want to see who can find some energy
20:00is Melton, who did not play last night,
20:03looks to be one of the bouncier Warriors.
20:05He's probing there, kept his dribble alive,
20:07went left, changed course, changed direction,
20:10worked all the way around the defense,
20:12turned the corner there.
20:15Kulibali coming off the re-screen.
20:18Work on Draymond.
20:19Draymond stayed with him,
20:20but Kulibali missing the mid-range.
20:22That's Draymond Green.
20:23Great defense and the rebound.
20:28Driving on Riley.
20:31Pajemski didn't settle for the three there.
20:34Make Washington guard.
20:36Keep moving the ball.
20:37Keep driving.
20:39And Pajemski got to the rim,
20:41tipped up and out.
20:42Draymond the offensive rebound.
20:44And Melton missing that three.
20:47Now Washington gives up 17 points
20:49against a game in second chance points.
20:51They're one of the poorest defensive rebounding teams
20:53in the league.
20:54So I was saying, win the possession battle
20:56and the offensive rebound.
20:57Melton knocking that away.
20:58Beautiful steal.
21:03Melton.
21:08He's doing a good job of trying to keep his dribble alive.
21:11One of the main things offensively too
21:13when it comes to not settling is just patience.
21:15Having some restraint.
21:16Maybe you have an okay shot.
21:18He passed that up for a better shot.
21:21Move the ball around.
21:22Work the ball around a little more.
21:23Make that defense work.
21:25You see the Warriors, they're trying to do it.
21:27I like their mindset early here.
21:29Sort of a home game for Pat Spencer
21:30as he checks in.
21:32Monroe, Maryland, about an hour away.
21:35DG County is about 45 minutes from here.
21:38Has a lot of friends here.
21:42Trae Young at open three.
21:44That's a breakdown of the Warriors fortunate.
21:46He's not going to miss the wide open warmup
21:48threes very often.
21:49Two defenders follow Koulibaly over that screen.
21:52GP2.
21:53That's how easy it is.
21:54Right there.
21:55Pat Spencer.
21:57Perfect delivery.
21:58Pat Spencer, you love his ball screen.
22:00And when two defenders stay up like that,
22:02GP2 can kind of just slip out of it.
22:03He's going to find them.
22:04May Trae Young give it up?
22:05Riley in the corner.
22:06And he throws it off.
22:08Pat Spencer still watching him.
22:09The ball takes us to the mandatory timeout.
22:13The Warriors, they need this game in the worst way.
22:17In the early going, Washington, D.C.
22:19Now, we talked about playing off of Jimmy Butler
22:22and playing off of Steph Curry.
22:24I've been so impressed with Gary Payton
22:26since Jimmy and Steph have been out.
22:29Our Kia player profile,
22:30this is without Butler and Curry.
22:33And look at GP2 kick in.
22:35Yeah, he's got some years on him now.
22:36I love his mentality playing with these guys.
22:38He's like, I've got to just keep talking to these young guys,
22:40keep communicating,
22:41make it as easy as possible on them,
22:43keep them loose.
22:44He's always going to bring that good energy.
22:47And you love him just rolling to the basket,
22:49thinking outside the box,
22:51playing around the basket,
22:52working that baseline.
22:53And he chased Brunson around last night
22:55and made Trae Young pick up the dribble.
22:58Shot clock at one.
22:59Trae Johnson beating the buzzer
23:01and Draymond's strong defensive rebound.
23:05And GP2, the little big man.
23:08Trae Young on GP2 is no contest.
23:11He just kind of posted him up there.
23:13Trae Young was just fronting him right there
23:15at the prequel line.
23:15He sealed him.
23:16And Trae Young's trying to get him back right away.
23:18He yanks him.
23:19He kind of rejected that screen there.
23:21He got his revenge ASAP.
23:23And Trae Young averages 18 a game,
23:25and now Young holding on to GP2,
23:27committing the foul.
23:28GP2 is going to try to do the same thing.
23:30He had posted up right at that free throw line,
23:32trying to seal him again.
23:34He's trying to expose him.
23:36Okay, let's battle a little bit.
23:37Let's get into a little something.
23:39You see the seal there,
23:40and GP2's like,
23:41okay, you want to front me?
23:42I'm okay with that.
23:44That was the last battle there.
23:45Was that Trae Young's Steph Curry defense?
23:48He just randomly hold on to people?
23:52So Chris Topps Porzingis in
23:54to play and shoot the three.
23:57A former wizard Porzingis
23:59hits his first shot.
24:00The Anthony Melton just set that screen there.
24:03Reese just got hung up on it.
24:04And that's the thing about this with his team.
24:06They're just not going to make multiple efforts.
24:07They're not going to fight over screens sometimes.
24:09You have to take advantage.
24:11Johnson driving.
24:11Bubb Carrington has checked in for Washington.
24:14Reese inside.
24:15Nice finish on the other side.
24:18They're better when they're getting drives in there, too.
24:20Draymond tried to get it again to GP2.
24:23They're really trying to expose Young.
24:24Okay, but here's the thing.
24:25They're okay with that.
24:26Yeah, if you're getting layups,
24:29that Don Nelson would do his friend.
24:30Keep doing the same thing.
24:32Right.
24:32I got GP2 posting up.
24:34Trae Young go to that 100 times in a row.
24:36If your bread is getting buttered,
24:37keep going that direction.
24:38Why not?
24:40And Draymond is going to make that pass.
24:42You know he's unafraid.
24:43I mean, that's old school right there.
24:46You've got something that's working.
24:47Just keep going.
24:48DeSantos back in, missing that three.
24:51And there's GP2 fighting on the rebound.
24:53But credit Carrington for grabbing it.
24:55You see some of the wide open shots the Warriors are getting, though.
24:58Love Carrington.
24:59He got the rebound and the finish.
25:01Go!
25:02Go!
25:02Koulibaly was rewarded with the basket.
25:05They can run the floor.
25:06And I said it.
25:07They're sixth in pace.
25:09They want to get out and transition as much as possible.
25:11Pat Spencer missing.
25:13And GP2 high to tip it in.
25:15Well, it starts with the Pat Spencer give and go and put it up on the rim.
25:18You know GP2 is going to be working that baseline.
25:20He's going to fire in there, get him an easy putback.
25:22So Koulibaly has been active early.
25:25Carrington will rock into a three and GP2 the rebound.
25:29Conversely, if you get Washington taking quick shots and run it back at him.
25:34As Porzingis was fouled by Reese.
25:36Yeah.
25:37Well, Reese was just trying to keep him from setting that screen the way Porzingis would like to try to
25:42push him up.
25:43This is Trey Young.
25:45Just finds his teammate there.
25:48Koulibaly running the floor.
25:49You've got to make sure you get back.
25:51Again, fast pace.
25:52Here's your give and go.
25:53Pat Spencer just passes to Draymond.
25:56His defender takes a quick break.
25:58And then everybody's so focused on that cut inside for Pat Spencer.
26:02GP2 can use that to his advantage, sneak in there.
26:05Remember when I said Washington gives up the second most second chance points?
26:09GP2.
26:10He paid that off.
26:11And Porzingis not settling for a three there.
26:14Gets to the line.
26:15And we're getting Porzingis going early.
26:17It's great to see him hit his first three.
26:19But now you can work a little inside.
26:20You can find some cuts.
26:22He's so agile there.
26:24Love the Warriors looking for him with those cuts.
26:27Now, I know this guy made seven threes.
26:30But people do know that Bam Adebayo had 83 points against this Washington team.
26:35Yeah.
26:36And a lot of it was going inside and getting fouled.
26:39Warriors are acting like they know.
26:40And this is one of the foul-prone teams.
26:44They're 26th in personal fouls.
26:46They will hack you.
26:47Warriors are in the bonus pretty early in the quarter with just under five minutes left now.
26:52You can take advantage of that.
26:53Keep staying aggressive.
26:54So, Jameer Watkins, a couple years at Florida State, 43rd pick in 2025.
26:59A Washington checks in for Rees.
27:01He's pretty big-time defensively.
27:03That's where his value is the most on that side of the floor.
27:0729% from three-point range.
27:09He's got some slashing ability.
27:11Now, one of the real pros for this team, Anthony Gill checks in.
27:15In year six, undrafted, super energy player and a very smart player.
27:20And good energy, too.
27:22Yes.
27:22He's kind of a prankster, actually.
27:24He's going to know they're like pour cold water on his teammates as Trey Young goes with that bumper car
27:29move.
27:29As soon as he gets that defender on his back, Chauncey Billups will just stop there, see what he has,
27:34lets you bump into him, go with the floater.
27:36You're actually going to have to guard pick-and-roll a lot this game, obviously because Trey Young's in there.
27:41But they run a ton of pick-and-roll where the ball handler's looking to score
27:44and where they're trying to get to the roller.
27:46So, they're going to test you there, especially if you're a big Chris Stapps, Porzingis, Malafi Leones might be involved
27:54in some of them.
27:55The Warrior Shop item of the game, 30% off the graphite tonal road path from New Era.
28:02Use the code IOTG30 at shop.warriors.com.
28:06There are so many Warrior fans here.
28:08When Steph Curry came out just to sit on the bench, he got a standing ovation.
28:12Of course, of course, we only get to come here once a year.
28:15So, if Steph Curry is on the trip, you're going to see the crowd react.
28:20Trey Young has seven now, just to get a glimpse of the man.
28:24Malafi Leones trying to feed Porzingis.
28:27Working on Gill.
28:28Shot clock at five.
28:30Chris Stapps, nowhere to go.
28:33He sent us the escape valve, and it's a 24-second violation.
28:39They've got to work on that shot clock buzzer so everybody can hear it.
28:43You can really hear it there, and everybody's got to be screaming butter for the Warriors.
28:48Porzingis was trying to get something there, but he's got pretty good defense.
28:53So, two turnovers apiece.
28:57Got to give Anthony Gill credit there for just holding his ground.
29:01Like he said, he's a pro.
29:02Any team would take him on their roster.
29:05I just love the way he plays.
29:08Carrington rattling that one out.
29:10Porzingis sending Pat Spencer on his way.
29:15And Pat threw that backwards.
29:18And then, thank you for the gift.
29:21Tamir Watkins gave it right back.
29:23Everybody's throwing it backwards.
29:25Go forward, young man.
29:26Go forward.
29:28He's Santos for three.
29:30And rattling that one home.
29:32Again, Trey Young was in the vicinity.
29:34He wasn't close enough, even if he was.
29:36A much smaller defender.
29:37The winners will be going.
29:38Let's just keep the game close.
29:40Let's see what happens in the end.
29:41Warriors up four.
29:43Pretty good start overall.
29:45By four with 333 remaining in the first.
29:49Our BMW ultimate performer.
29:51I think Chris Stapp's Porzingis' last game against Minnesota.
29:55He's on the 20-minute restriction.
29:57But, man, was he productive in those 20 minutes or so.
30:00You can put him anywhere, and he can be effective.
30:02He can pick and pop, or he can pick and roll, like you saw in the first clip,
30:05and take advantage of switches, especially if the guy that's switching on to a fight
30:10over the top.
30:11He rolls, and he's a high target.
30:13You can just throw it up extremely high.
30:15He's going to go get it.
30:17Pretty unselfish as well.
30:19Loves celebrating his teammates when they do well.
30:21But any time you get a smaller guy switched on to him, that's why you just love him
30:25and pick and roll.
30:25Any time he crosses paths or so, and see if they want to switch.
30:28Everybody is switching nowadays.
30:29But a guy like him, he's a match-up nightmare.
30:31You've got to expose that.
30:33Tristan Vucevic had the dribble handoff, but a foul as Will Richard had stolen the ball,
30:38but fighting over the screen, committed to foul.
30:40The officials aren't privy to Will Richard's escapades, that sixth in length.
30:44He always gets a steal like that.
30:46He usually doesn't have to gamble to get it, but you see the cut over the top from Carrington.
30:52That probably was a foul.
30:53But Vucevic, he's a stretch big, even though he's got a block there for Zingas.
30:59For Zingas, I mean, but Vucevic, he's a stretch big, pick-and-pop threat for sure.
31:0433% for three-point range, but he's not shooting like the way he'd want as Will Richard misses.
31:08So Will Richard, that was a wide-open corner three, and those are the ones you can take.
31:12But the ones that are created in and out, those are the ones you're looking for.
31:16Carrington missing there.
31:18The Warriors actually knocked the rebound away from each other.
31:21Three guys in white, and that was Mr. Watkins getting the freebie.
31:26They're not the best offensive rebounding team in the world.
31:28The 21st in offensive rebounding percentage is getting dry from Pajemski.
31:33Pajemski just got whacked in the face.
31:34I think that last possession, I mixed Porzingis and Pajemski together.
31:38I said, Pajemski.
31:41That would be an amazing player.
31:43It's a back-to-back for everybody, bro.
31:45And you got Cooper just shooting in there, was not able to hold his line, crashed into.
31:52Yeah, I mean, right now, Watkins went with the swipe to the side of the head.
31:57They might have to review this.
31:58So Scott Foster is discussing things.
32:01While they look at the hostile act, I want to ask you something, Kay.
32:04Back end of a back-to-back, when you get in this late, there's no film session.
32:09There's no team meeting.
32:10There's no shoot-around.
32:12What does that do for, if you're the Warriors, against a team you don't see very frequently?
32:17You know, it would be easy when you get back to the bank,
32:19because you've just seen them a week ago.
32:21But, I mean, this is, and you don't know some of these guys.
32:24Right, the onus is even more on you.
32:26That's why I said in the open, you've got to go through your scouting report two or three times.
32:30You've got a technical foul here.
32:33Yeah, Watkins just cracked pods over the head.
32:38And he's still struggling a little bit.
32:40Porzingis is going to shoot the free throw, because Haas is still seeing double, I think.
32:45Yeah, so that, you know, think of an elbowing technical or an unsportsmanlike there.
32:50That's going to be the one free throw that anybody can shoot.
32:53But it's up to you, like you're saying, to be a professional.
32:56To come in and still know exactly what this team does.
33:00Know that Trey Johnson's a shooter and she's 37%.
33:02Know that you've got Lucevic, the pick-and-pot big, likes to stretch out the floor a little bit.
33:09You know Will Riley, 6'10", he could get to a spot really well.
33:11He uses his size around the basket really well.
33:13So, I'm going to point out a veteran who did that.
33:17GP2 realized, okay, I have Trey Young because I'm a defender, but they're going to cross-match Trey Young on
33:22me.
33:23So, he went early rim run multiple times and Draymond found him inside.
33:27Why would you not?
33:27You've got to know where you can find some advantages.
33:30Especially when you're short-handed.
33:32Yes, you've got some reinforcements back as Pujemski misses the first free throw.
33:36He's still struggling, man.
33:37He still sees two goals, maybe three goals.
33:40Shoot at the one in the middle.
33:41What a game for Brandon last night.
33:4325 points, five rebounds, six assists, 8 of 15 from the field.
33:47Yeah, this is good for Pujemski to just regroup here as the ball boy is wiping up the sweat.
33:53Well, you start to get into, you know, if you really get rocked, where are you in touch?
33:59Exactly.
33:59I mean, that's, you've got to take a look at some of that stuff.
34:03Pujemski is so tough that he's going to play through things, but one out of two there.
34:07But he, he is a little off.
34:09He might have a little bit of a headache.
34:13Vucevic did not catch that well.
34:15Now, I'm going to work on Porzingis.
34:19Vucevic had played in Italy.
34:20He is Serbian and Greek, and Kristaps, beautiful block.
34:30DeSantos, looking for Porzingis, and he just lost the handle.
34:34He kind of got trapped underneath the backboard and just gave it away.
34:38He's going to look to pass it out.
34:41There's going to be tough to power up under the backboard there.
34:47Carrington, a little mid-range.
34:49He's just hanging around.
34:51Warriors aren't running away with it.
34:53Get the sense that it might be a little tougher than you would think to get separation.
34:58DeSantos, wing three.
34:59So, Gi has lasered in a couple triples.
35:02And the Warriors pushed the lead to five.
35:04Just a little ball movement, shade sides of the floor.
35:06Make them go from help to on the ball before they think they need to.
35:11Sharif Cooper nearly lost the handle there.
35:15Now driving.
35:16Cycle around.
35:17Vucevic missing that three.
35:20I love Porzingis' contests there.
35:22He flew right by.
35:23No contact, but he bothered the shot.
35:26And at 7-2, you could definitely bother the shot.
35:29Absolutely.
35:30Kristaps' three is flat.
35:32Long reboundable Richard.
35:35I'm going to get something going to the basket here now.
35:38Shot clock at 7.
35:41Majemski drawing all kinds of bodies.
35:43Just couldn't finish, but it was a good drive.
35:46Porzingis with a steal.
35:47He's going to get pods the easy one.
35:49Nicely done.
35:50Just shot through the gap.
35:51The lazy pass there.
35:53Porzingis getting active.
35:55Remember I said the magic number is 120?
35:57Yes.
35:57What's 120 divided by four?
35:59There you go.
36:0030.
36:01The Warriors are 30 every quarter, and you're going to be fine.
36:04That was a calculated gamble from Porzingis.
36:08Carrington missing there.
36:09Kristaps, he's moving so much better.
36:12You've got 30 points, and you're not done.
36:13You can go two for one here.
36:16Majemski, breaking the paint, lobbing it, and Malafi Leone brings it home.
36:20He was just looking at Gil, who was on Malafi Leone, who stepped up.
36:24You just reject the screen.
36:26Mean crossover gets you in the paint.
36:28They throw the lob up, get one for the highlight reel.
36:31The Warriors are on pace for 80 points in the paint.
36:35Let's keep it rolling.
36:37Come up with a stop, and there's tenths of a second difference.
36:41So right now, good decision by Pajemski.
36:43Time and score.
36:44You're up 32-23.
36:46Worst you should have is a nine-point lead.
36:50Played for the last shot.
36:53Down to five.
36:55Porzingis at three.
36:57Porzingis putting it up and in.
36:58Perfectly done.
36:59A little fake handoff will do you right.
37:03And for three-quarter court, Cooper hit iron.
37:05But the Warriors build an 11-point lead.
37:08They end the quarter on a 9-0 run.
37:11Get to 120.
37:13The Wizards are 1-32 when they allow 120.
37:17And so far, so good for the Warriors, putting up 34.
37:21Back end of a back-to-back.
37:23They got some reinforcements.
37:25They're attacking appropriately offensively and building a double-digit lead.
37:31It's the microclimate weather and stories that are moving the Bay Area forward.
37:35NBC Bay Area News weeknights at 5 on your TV.
37:38Roku or streaming on the NBC Bay Area app.
37:42We know it's warm back home this week, and the Warriors are going to miss all of it.
37:47It's tied for the longest road trip of the year.
37:50This is stop two in Washington.
37:51Super long.
37:52Warriors playing with a lot of energy this game.
37:54Forced five turnovers for seven points.
37:56And you're one of the best steals teams in the league.
37:59One of the best opponent turnover teams used that.
38:01Melton.
38:02So he drove.
38:03Nothing was there.
38:04DeAnthony drove.
38:05Multiple drives paying off.
38:07You're relentless with it.
38:08Love this start for DeAnthony.
38:10Melton just keeping his dribble alive.
38:12Probing.
38:12Going with his counter moves.
38:15Watkins unable to finish inside.
38:18So Melton, Pat Spencer, Guy Santos with Nate Williams and Draymond.
38:23Guy with a sidestep.
38:24Three's made two.
38:25He's made three.
38:26I love that cut from Draymond Green there.
38:29Just running the floor.
38:30Your defender's not really on you.
38:32They're kind of loose.
38:33Go ahead and throw it in there, and the defense is going to have to react to that.
38:37Now you can kick it out and get an open look.
38:39Anthony Gill for three.
38:40And then air ball there.
38:42Hey, Gill.
38:43Air ball didn't go to the offense.
38:44Right.
38:44How about that?
38:46Well, the air ball was so bad.
38:47It was like, usually, the air ball is a little closer to the basket.
38:50Raymond with the post up.
38:51And Nate missed that three.
38:53But most of the threes are getting their from going inside out.
38:57Yes.
38:57Having the defense collapse on it.
38:59Anthony Gill will draw the foul.
39:01Well, smart man.
39:02He just air balled the last three ball.
39:03Well, you know, let me switch it up.
39:04The bummer for the Warriors is that's the third foul on Guy Santos.
39:07And he's likely done for the half.
39:11He's been so good shooting threes.
39:13Already three for four with nine.
39:16Yeah, he's got such a pure heart.
39:18He plays so hard.
39:19He's overdid it there.
39:21Probably a good foul if he wasn't in foul trouble on Gill.
39:24Gill was probably going to score there.
39:26Anthony Gill is 33 years of age.
39:29He got to the line like a veteran.
39:31I'm going to bang into you.
39:32That means I get the foul.
39:33If I get the end one, great.
39:35You know, it's just a very solid play there.
39:38He's not avoiding the contests.
39:40And he's a shooter that's not shooting it well right now.
39:42He's 31% from three-point range.
39:44So any chance you get to drive it in there.
39:46But I said he's a prankster.
39:48Like sometimes he'll be doing an interview and he'll just start talking.
39:51It's just make up some pet that he has, some weird animal that's not really real,
39:56just to troll people.
39:58So Gill breaks that 14-0 Warrior run.
40:01With a couple free throws.
40:02He's definitely a guy that has fun being in the NBA.
40:05These are big minutes for Malafy Leones because with Guy having three fouls,
40:09I think Steve's going to risk that.
40:11Pat Spencer picked up the dribble.
40:12Leones came to bail him out.
40:14Shot clock at 7.
40:16Washington extending their defense.
40:18Shot clock at 4.
40:19Bats got nothing going.
40:21Got to beat the buzzer here from the mid-range.
40:23It's well just to hit iron and out of bounds.
40:25It's Washington ball.
40:26He'll give Sharif Cooper credit.
40:28He's a big ball-presser guy.
40:30He's definitely got that lateral quickness at his size.
40:33Better have that quickness and that tenacity defensively.
40:37He brings that.
40:37Again, he's not a great three-point shooter.
40:40Really good playmaker offensively.
40:42Good pick-and-roll operator.
40:43He gets in the paint pretty easily with that quickness.
40:45But he's bringing it defensively.
40:47Will for Gill.
40:48Will Riley in for Anthony Gill.
40:51Chebic had picked up the dribble.
40:52Bob Carrington giving it back to the 7-footer.
40:55And put it up and in.
40:56You see that short roll.
40:57A lot of times he'll like to pick and pop it.
41:00A good amount of times he'll short roll in there
41:02and not try to get all the way to the basket.
41:04As I said, Hooper trying to pick the ball pressure.
41:07Overdid it that time against Anthony Mel.
41:08He's got that thing on a string.
41:09Yeah, so we're going to miss Nikola Vucevic in Boston
41:15and Tristan Vucevic here.
41:17And they're both Croatian, both 7-footers,
41:20and have a similar type of game.
41:23Vucevic has the injured finger in Boston.
41:27Anthony Mel missing there.
41:29Mel getting his own rebound.
41:30And that's what you can do on the offensive glass
41:32against the Wizards.
41:33Especially against smaller guys.
41:35Trey Young was in there before.
41:36Now Cooper tags in.
41:37He's like, you're small, too.
41:38I'm going to expose you as well.
41:40Vucevic.
41:42Curling that 3 halfway down and out.
41:45You see how good his 3-ball looks though.
41:46He does.
41:47That percentage isn't the way it should be right now.
41:48It's going to go up eventually.
41:50A lot of these guys, a lot of shooters
41:52are struggling with their shot.
41:53But look at this.
41:54Keep your dribble alive.
41:56And just bang into him.
41:58Crab dribble, crab dribble, bully ball.
42:00Trying to cave someone's chest in.
42:02Okay.
42:02I love the game D'Anthony Mel is having.
42:05He's 5 of 7 with 10 points.
42:07He's attempted 1-3.
42:09He's like, the Wizards can't stop me inside.
42:12I'm going to score everywhere on the floor.
42:14Washington takes time.
42:16Capitol building in downtown Washington, D.C.
42:20and went by there today
42:21in the Washington Monument
42:22and the Lincoln Memorial.
42:24It is such a special city.
42:27And there's some little Washington Warriors connections.
42:31Yep.
42:32We talked about Pat Spencer, Loyola, Maryland.
42:35But the Indeed Career Scouting Report,
42:37Kristaps Porzingis,
42:39well, he played here with the Wizards.
42:41GP2 started his career there.
42:43And Pat actually was on the Washington G League team.
42:46Yes, he was.
42:47And that ended up coming out to Santa Cruz
42:49and becoming a warrior.
42:51Well, I think Porzingis is very happy to be a warrior now
42:54as Draymond Green is bringing the ball pressure.
42:57He got the jump ball.
42:58That's a good call by Trey Maddox
42:59because Draymond had the hand on the ball,
43:02didn't foul him,
43:03and then Trey said, hey, we got him jump ball.
43:05You know what that is?
43:06Draymond's like, I got the quickness advantage here
43:08over Vukjevic.
43:10So I can get as close to him as I want,
43:12bring the ball pressure,
43:13see if I can tie him up.
43:14Yeah, he's not driving by me.
43:15He's not going to drive by me.
43:16So why not get up on him?
43:17And that's part of what we were talking about earlier,
43:19knowing the scouting report,
43:21knowing where you have the advantage,
43:23using it every single chance you get.
43:25So Draymond's saying get up on this?
43:27Yes, he is.
43:28Yes, very nice.
43:30Winning the tap.
43:32Nate Williams came back to protect the passer,
43:34and he drew the foul.
43:35That pass was underthrown.
43:36But Nate adjusted.
43:37Yes, he came back to make sure he got the foul there.
43:41And Danthony Melton will be saying,
43:42thank you, Nate Williams.
43:43And next time, Danthony Melton is going to lead him.
43:46Throw it over him.
43:47Make it to where only your wide receiver can get it.
43:51Williams was able to come back,
43:53and now you live to see another day.
43:58Technical foul.
44:00Bud Carrington called for the foul,
44:02and then a technicals who kept talking about it.
44:04But, you know, Kay,
44:05you were on the receiving end of a lot of those passes.
44:08Absolutely.
44:08You know, it's not easy at full speed to throw a 50-foot pass,
44:11and it's not easy to just turn around if you're going full speed
44:14and jump backwards like Nate Williams did there to grab that one.
44:19Yeah, but Nate's awareness,
44:20and I think a lot of the younger Warriors,
44:24the turnover thing has been drilled in.
44:26So it's like, okay, this pass is offline,
44:28but I'm still going to get it so we don't give it away.
44:34That's Spencer always surveying.
44:36Draymond, the decision maker on the box,
44:38shot clock at 11.
44:40Kicking it out.
44:41It's a path for the baseline jumper.
44:42And there's Nate Williams on the glass.
44:44Didn't tip it in,
44:45but you see the Warriors getting on the offensive glass all game.
44:52Carrington setting up Riley.
44:56Will Riley shot that over everything.
45:00And out of bounds.
45:01It will remain with Washington.
45:03Good on Nate Williams not to fight on all the fakes.
45:06Maybe watch that belly button of Riley.
45:08Just stay with it.
45:09Make him shoot a tough shot.
45:11Pull up jump shot,
45:12especially down there by the baseline
45:14where you don't have the backboard.
45:16Your death perspective is a little off at times.
45:18It's tough to make that shot.
45:21As you saw,
45:21a bad air ball there from Riley.
45:23So Will Richard checking in for Nate,
45:25who did a good job defensively.
45:27Trae Young back in.
45:29Mugcevic.
45:30The Warriors fortunate.
45:31He was wide open there.
45:32Off back iron.
45:33Two defenders stay with Trae Young there.
45:36Yeah, the Warriors are playing Draymond at the five a bit more tonight
45:39because Alex Saar is not playing for Washington.
45:42And that's another reason you want to attack the basket.
45:44But Alex Saar not in the game.
45:45He's their best rim protector.
45:47Oh, Melton just had that sport out of his hands.
45:49He's been driving so effectively in the first half.
45:53I like Will Riley.
45:55He handles himself well.
45:57Trey Johnson.
45:59Malafy stayed with him.
46:00Trey Johnson's got a little game.
46:02That is footwork.
46:04Pivot game.
46:05Creativity.
46:06He is averaging 12 a game.
46:08Pretty much in jail there.
46:09Your pivot game gets you out of it.
46:11Six pick overall last year's draft.
46:16Malafy Leones caught that on the run.
46:18Shot clock at seven.
46:20Pat went to return it, but it was Kip.
46:22Pre-cycled the shot clock to 14.
46:24Yeah, they're trying to get the ball to Leones.
46:27He's rolling two defenders.
46:28Stayed with Pat Spencer up top.
46:31Pretty good defense with better offense.
46:32That is amazing footwork.
46:35Inside from Johnson, who's known as a three-point shooter.
46:38He's actually eighth in the league when it comes to rookie three-point shooting percentage.
46:42Can you work on your footwork like that?
46:44For sure.
46:45It's kind of natural.
46:45For sure you can.
46:47And you get the coaches that play token defense on you at times even better.
46:50Get your steps all together.
46:52Yeah, just work on that pivot game.
46:53Keep that pivot foot down.
46:54Do everything you can.
46:56Just test it.
46:57Five of the show and go there.
46:58Draymond practiced cycle it back.
47:00Leone saved the turnover and then threw up the three.
47:03That shot clock was only a one.
47:05So, Washington playing better D.
47:07The lead at 15 right now.
47:09And you start to see when Trey Johnson, when shooters get into a rhythm.
47:15And that pass to GP2 and Trey Young couldn't quite save it.
47:19But that's Draymond looking for GP2 on the early rim run every time.
47:23Yeah.
47:23You love the intentionality to throw that one and try to get it inside and get more paint
47:30points and take advantage of GP2 running.
47:32But you also want to holster some of the tougher passes.
47:36That kind of bit you a little bit last night against the Knicks, too, where you're trying
47:39some tough passes.
47:40You don't need to against a team.
47:41Remember, they're 29th defensively, 28th opponent points in the paint.
47:44Porzingis on a beautiful out-of-bounds play.
47:46He just checked in and got the dunk.
47:48And you got a back screen there.
47:49And his band got clipped.
47:50And that's one of the reasons they struggled with opponent points in the paint.
47:55And Riley, you said it at the opening tip that Will Riley is a three-level scorer.
48:00He's kind of showed it off tonight.
48:0133% from three-point range, but that's going to get better.
48:04And he's got seven.
48:05He can get it off over anybody, being 6'10".
48:09Yeah, trying to keep Porzingis around 20 minutes.
48:11They're spotting him in and out.
48:12GP2 missing the runner.
48:14You don't get to see GP2 handling when it comes to pick and rolls very much.
48:18But when he was at Washington starting his career, they tried to make him a guard.
48:21And then the Warriors kind of figured out, nope, he's the little big man.
48:24As Riley had missed, got it right back.
48:28Falling out of bounds nearly.
48:29Johnson kept his footwork.
48:32Shot clock at four.
48:33Trey Young with a yank back.
48:35Now he can still do that.
48:38He saw enough ice Trey in Atlanta, and the Warriors are going to take a timeout.
48:42Well, he had to do it there in the shot line.
48:45Warrior basketball in NBC Sports Bay Area brought to you by Wendy's.
48:50Baconate late.
48:51He can hit up Wendy's for a Baconator.
48:53Made fresh for you.
48:54Open until midnight or later.
48:56The hectic pace of Washington, D.C. with a Warrior lead at nine.
49:02And here come the bragging rights with our Xfinity powerful performance.
49:08In the NCAA tournament.
49:10Seven Curry will represent it.
49:12Steve Kerr, Horford, and Will Richard with Florida.
49:15L.J.
49:15Cryer, Draymond, Moses Moody.
49:17Now Brandon Pajewski.
49:19Let's go.
49:20Takes on Kentucky and Kalena Azebuki.
49:23Let's talk about it.
49:24In a 7-10 matchup.
49:25And I am doing the Drew Bundini-Brown, who was the trainer for Muhammad Ali,
49:31because I'm putting together the matchup of Azebuki and Pajewski,
49:34and what the bet is going to be for that game.
49:36We need a friendly wager.
49:38We could just swap jerseys, and you get Will Richard cutting inside.
49:41But great defense for Trey Young just trailing the play there.
49:44It was kind of a staggered screen there.
49:47Curling around was Will Richard.
49:49But Trey Young was privy to it.
49:52Now wait a minute.
49:53Why does Jureb Pajewski's bet have to be a friendly wager?
49:57Because we're friends?
49:59Wow.
49:59That sense to me.
50:00I want a clear winner and loser in that.
50:05There's going to be a winner and a loser for sure.
50:07I'm going to set the terms on this bet.
50:09This is going to be good.
50:10I don't know if he was going to agree to what you were saying.
50:14Suggesting Pajewski.
50:16Pajewski was fouled there.
50:18Pajewski's really working off of these screens well,
50:21figuring out when to reject him.
50:23He's getting a step inside, forcing the help.
50:25GP2 is really benefiting from that.
50:28Actually, Porzingis kind of changed the angle of the screen there
50:32and sent him that direction.
50:33So the rapport being built between Porzingis and Pajewski on the fly here.
50:41So Porzingis and Draymond.
50:43Can't wait to see Porzingis and Steph and Draymond at GP2.
50:47They've been doing it together for years.
50:48I love the way Gary is cutting without the ball tonight.
50:51It's just a quick duck in.
50:52No screen needed for GP2.
50:54He's got eight tonight.
50:56Draymond went right down the lane.
50:57He did not want that.
50:59That was a warrior breakdown defensively.
51:02He got his defender on his back pretty early up top,
51:05and so no one was able to step up and help.
51:08Offensive foul, GP2.
51:10GP2 and Tray Young have been going at it.
51:12They're getting super physical here.
51:16You like the physicality.
51:17You would think GP2 would win it, and he did try to win it there.
51:21But look at GP2, the bottom of your screen there.
51:24You see all the action happening up top, closer to the top of the key.
51:27He's like, wait a minute.
51:28I've got some space inside here.
51:30Let me just duck in.
51:31Tray Young with 12 points in the first half, the four-time All-Star.
51:36He's keeping Washington in the game.
51:39Hey, Johnson missing there, long rebound, and that's going to be a foul.
51:43Of course, Ziggins had knocked it away to Draymond, but a foul on the Warriors.
51:47Looks like Gill was crashing in there,
51:49so they're taking their opportunities to keep crashing.
51:53And again, I said, they're going to just say,
51:55well, let's just try to keep this as close as possible,
51:57see what we can have going into halftime.
51:59Warriors would love to have the double-digit lead going into halftime
52:02as well as they played.
52:04Warriors had a 17-point lead.
52:07You don't want this young team to gain any confidence
52:09because they're used to being down, right?
52:10Like, okay, this is normal for us.
52:12We're just going to keep playing hard.
52:13Tray Johnson just dribbled it out of bounds.
52:16Yeah, they're going to make mistakes.
52:17They're going to be inconsistent.
52:18The efficiency is not always going to be there with their jumpers.
52:22You know, I said it with the 120.
52:24If they hold a team under 120, they're 15 and 18.
52:27That's very representative.
52:29But you score 120, they're 1 and 32.
52:32Ziggins scoring inside.
52:34He's got Koulibaly on.
52:35He's much bigger than him.
52:37And he's not passing that one out, nor should he.
52:40There's stops with 12 points in 9 minutes.
52:43Koulibaly driving.
52:44This is as good as I've seen Koulibaly offensively.
52:47He's worked on his handle.
52:49And he sees some space in there.
52:51He knows he's just got to get by one man.
52:52And Porzingis tried to get over there.
52:54It wasn't in time.
52:54It just happened so fast.
52:56Hill Richard back to Pajemski.
52:58Ran it on the step back.
52:59Moving it around.
53:00Draymond to Porzingis.
53:02Look at the ball hopping around.
53:03And GP2 dunking it.
53:05I'll tell you what.
53:06That was like a scene out of Hoosiers.
53:08I want five passes before we shoot the ball.
53:11The only way to finish that pretty play and all that passing is with a mega match.
53:16I'll tell you that you have the foul up top on Pajemski.
53:20The home warrior bench stood up.
53:22Let's do the Normandale.
53:24One, two, three, four, five.
53:26I think it was almost surprised he got the ball inside.
53:28Like, this is an amazing pass.
53:30I've got to keep this going.
53:31And GP2 just never stops moving.
53:33You saw the defender that was supposed to be accounting for him going the other direction
53:37while GP2 is firing towards the rim.
53:39And plays like that are why you don't have to settle for early clock threes against this team.
53:45Trae Young was fouled on the drive.
53:47And GP2 is all over Trae Young.
53:49He overdid it again there.
53:50Trae Young is coming off of those ball screens.
53:53I said pick-and-roll defense is going to be important.
53:54You've got a technical foul here on GP2 as well.
53:58Gary does not do that very often.
54:02He's on one tonight.
54:05Trae Young's got a little riled up.
54:07This is a little battle game within the game.
54:10A lot of talking, a lot of trash talking happening, a lot of physicality happening.
54:14GP2 is like, I'm stronger than you.
54:15I want to show it.
54:16Trae Young's got some skill.
54:18He wants to show that.
54:19He missed a free throw.
54:21Well, GP2 is smiling after that one.
54:23He's like, I'm in his head.
54:24This is what I love.
54:25He's just trying to strip it from behind, which is really hard to do.
54:28Andre Goddaro is amazing at that.
54:29Not too many other guys, though.
54:33And we mic up Gary a lot.
54:35So you never really hear him cross a line.
54:38But got the technical, didn't make it.
54:41Trae Young, making that free throw 83% from the line.
54:45Well, GP2 is clever as well.
54:47Sometimes he'll just say something that catches you off guard out there when it comes to trash talking.
54:51He's a different style of trash talker.
54:53So, Trae Young and Anthony Davis were acquired at the trade deadline.
54:56Anthony Davis has not played a game for Washington yet.
55:00GP2 will catch you off guard with his good energy.
55:02Then he'll say something like, huh, wait a minute.
55:03What did he just say?
55:05He says it was a smile, though.
55:09So, how do the Warriors finish this first half?
55:12Built a 17-point lead at one point.
55:17Porzingis, swing, swing.
55:18And then Trae Young is playing defense and playing with a lot of energy in this first half, by the
55:23way.
55:23Well, that's what you have to do.
55:24They're going to double-team Porzingis like that, which is why you throw the ball in the post.
55:28Create an advantage.
55:29Two defenders go with one.
55:31He's trying to pass it out of there.
55:32Get the rotation going.
55:34And Trae Young, all the years he has on him, trying to lead these young boys by example.
55:38He's like, I can still move, guys.
55:40Follow my lead.
55:41The three fouls on Guy Santos have affected this first half because he's been averaging 18 a game.
55:47To beat the buzzer.
55:48And Pat Spencer, well defended there by the Wizards.
55:52It's been a nine-point lead for a while now.
55:56Game's kind of hanging there.
55:59So, Warriors got a delay of game warning.
56:02Next one will be a technical.
56:04Can't touch it once it goes out.
56:06Just run back.
56:07It's kind of an ominous feel right now.
56:10And Trae Young is sensing it.
56:12Well, Trae Young's got 14.
56:14He's played 13 first half minutes.
56:16He's on no restriction now.
56:18Will Riley bottoming a three.
56:20And the Wizards are here.
56:23Well, once they get the ball in the middle, they make you react.
56:25Now they can kick it out.
56:27Two defenders reacted in there on that strong side.
56:29Well, you said ominous feeling with three fouls.
56:32Steve's going to put Guy Santos back in the game.
56:35Pat Spencer right to the rim.
56:36Big bottom.
56:37That's a big basket right there.
56:38And he's using that body really well.
56:40Once he comes off that screen and gets that defender, if he fights over the top, he just keeps him
56:44on his back.
56:45The sidestep three.
56:47I'll tell you, Trae Johnson can shoot.
56:49I told you.
56:51Eight in the league among rookies.
56:52Three-point shooting percentage.
56:54That's not an easy one, too.
56:55Pat Spencer was jumping all over the place around him.
56:58But your 17-point lead is in five.
57:00Porzingis for three.
57:02Anthony Gill sending Trae Young on his way.
57:07The Wizards have lost 11 in a row.
57:09They're going to beat somebody.
57:10And Trae Young has seen if it's going to be the Warriors tonight.
57:14I told you Trae Young was sensing it.
57:17He's a big game type of player.
57:19He loves the big moments.
57:21Backdoor cut.
57:22Will Richard setting up Pat Spencer.
57:25And the Warriors have gone cold.
57:30Trae Young working with Trae Johnson.
57:35He wanted to see the two Trae's combining on those threes.
57:40Young went for the Showtime pass.
57:44Porzingis did the Zaza between the legs there.
57:47The Showtime pass.
57:48GP2 turning the corner.
57:50Gary laying it up and in and drawing the foul.
57:53GP2 with a dozen in the first half.
57:56GP2 is getting active.
57:58And he gave Porzingis the thumbs up because watch this solid screen.
58:02He sits here after the little handoff.
58:04Now his defender is on his back.
58:07Someone's going to try to fire in there.
58:09Trae Young tried to get him.
