01:05Welcome to NBA Sunday Showcase on ABC, presented by Popeyes.
01:12It's the fourth and final regular season meeting between the Thunder and Wolves.
01:16Minnesota up two games to one this season.
01:20Oklahoma City has won seven in a row.
01:23It's longest win streak since it won 16 straight during a 24-1 start.
01:29Oklahoma City looks again like the team we saw at the beginning of the year.
01:34The starting five for Minnesota, the most used lineup in the NBA this season.
01:40DiVincenzo Edwards, who's playing through a knee injury today.
01:44McDaniels, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert.
01:47And for Oklahoma City, a different starting lineup.
01:51A.J. Mitchell in his third game back after missing 20 due to injury, making his 11th start of the
01:57season.
01:57He'll be in the backcourt with Gilgis Alexander.
02:00Dort, Holmgren, and Hartenstein, who was listed as questionable after missing the last three games with a cap injury.
02:06But he is in the starting five.
02:08So, Shea Gilgis Alexander, 127 consecutive 20-point games.
02:14Will Chamberlain's streak ended at 126 when he got ejected four minutes into his next game.
02:20Hopefully, we will not have to worry about that today.
02:23We've got a great crew with Kevin Scott, Sean Corbin, and John Butler, our officials.
02:28Chet Holmgren, an all-star for the first time.
02:30He might be all-NBA this season for the Thunder.
02:35Absolutely should be all-NBA this season.
02:38One of three teams.
02:39He's got 15 opportunities.
02:41And I think what distinguishes him is his impact on both ends of the floor,
02:46most notably at the rim when he's played the five position.
02:49He's been elite.
02:52Anthony Edwards has missed ten games this year because of injury.
02:56He missed nine the previous three years combined.
02:59He plays through pain.
03:00And despite the right knee issue that's been bothering him the last couple weeks,
03:05he's going to go.
03:06It didn't seem to matter too much Friday.
03:08We showed you that shot chart when he scored 42 points.
03:12But he needs help.
03:13Since the all-star break, Julius Randle averaging just 14 points per game.
03:18He's above 20 on the season, so that gives you an idea of how mightily he's struggled of late.
03:25Viewers starting five in the NBA lineups for the Wolves,
03:28while Oklahoma City is a 28th starting lineup,
03:30which is crazy when you think about a team that's got the best record in the NBA by three games.
03:36It's a tribute to them and the quality, depth, and the caliber of the readiness
03:39on a night-to-night basis for Oklahoma City.
03:48Minnesota ending a four-game road trip today.
03:51They have 15 games left this season, including today.
03:54They play the Pistons and Rockets twice.
03:57They have the sixth toughest remaining schedule, including today against the Thunder.
04:03Hartenstein missed the push shot.
04:04Usually, he's money with that.
04:07Kept alive, though, by the Thunder.
04:10Holmgren.
04:12Yogis Alexander spinning, falling away.
04:16Front rimmed it, batted back out there.
04:18Holmgren, great look.
04:20Time for three.
04:23So a concerning start on the backboards.
04:26Margin is so important when you're playing Oklahoma City, right?
04:29You have to have low turnovers.
04:31You've got to stay even on the glass.
04:33To give up multiple shot attempts on that first possession,
04:37got to be a frustrating start.
04:39Back-to-back empty possessions for Minnesota.
04:41Gilgis Alexander driving on Gobert.
04:45This guy is absolutely gifted.
04:50Four straight year, averaging 30 points per game or more.
04:54The first player to do that since Michael Jordan.
04:56Here's Edwards off the screen.
04:58His three off the mark.
05:00Minnesota's offense has been pretty good most of the year,
05:03but it's been a struggle the last couple weeks.
05:05Mitchell missed it.
05:07Their defense hasn't been very good either.
05:10They had a game against the Clippers a couple games ago.
05:12They gave up 153.
05:13Randle has it stripped by Hartenstein.
05:20And Holmgren fumbles it momentarily.
05:235-0, two minutes gone by.
05:28Dort off the bounce, contested by Randle, and the shot no good.
05:32Look at Hartenstein again.
05:34Another possession created.
05:36And underneath Holmgren, wide open, bad defense by the Wolves.
05:397-0, Oklahoma City.
05:47Oklahoma City out rebounding Minnesota 7-1 early on.
05:51Edwards gets deep sent back by Holmgren.
05:53And now take it away, Dort.
05:56Holmgren third in the NBA and blocks.
05:58Dort fouled by Dave Vincenzo.
06:01What a start at home for Oklahoma City on both ends of the floor.
06:05When they've had their double big lineup available, it has been so good.
06:09Hartenstein just doing so many little things, multiple opportunities.
06:13Then watch it on the defensive end of the floor.
06:14So he's already created multiple possessions.
06:16Well, now you get a strip steal.
06:19And then the offensive rebound again.
06:21Like consistent hard work positioning.
06:24He's their best offensive rebounder.
06:26He's their best screener.
06:27And all the little things have already generated points for this team.
06:30Just incredible.
06:31He's got six rebounds.
06:33Three on the defensive end.
06:35Three on the offensive end.
06:36In the first two minutes and 24 seconds.
06:38And to me, you know, I just said it.
06:40Like if you're the reason Minnesota has had some success in the regular season is you pay attention to winning
06:47the possession battle against Oklahoma City.
06:49To start this game, it's been an awful start for this group.
06:54Dort gets both free throws.
06:569-0 Oklahoma City.
07:0015 games left for the Thunder, including today.
07:04They head out on a five-game road trip after this one starting Tuesday at Orlando.
07:08The Magic, one of the hottest teams in the NBA, winning seven straight.
07:12McDaniels swing.
07:13Randall for three.
07:15A much-needed hit for Julius Randall, who had been five for his last 33 from out there.
07:23Just 20%.
07:26Holmgren looking to answer.
07:28Cannot.
07:29And rebound again, Mitchell.
07:31Another offensive rebound.
07:32And a Minnesota foul as Edwards knocks down Mitchell.
07:36Well, this shot by Julius Randall is massive, folks.
07:40I like when he starts his offensive game inside out because he's so great playing bully ball.
07:45But if this can get him some confidence and some juice on the offensive end because it has been a
07:51monumental struggle.
07:54There's 31% from three overall.
07:56But since November 1st, that 29% is the worst in the league.
08:00When you look at the number of attempts that he's had in terms of guys that qualify.
08:05Mitchell misses inside.
08:06DiVincenzo out of there with it.
08:08He's struggling as well.
08:10Just eight points per game this month.
08:12Randall missed that time.
08:14And Alex, Vilge's Alexander, Dork both went for it.
08:18Ends up in the hands of Gobert.
08:20They didn't communicate.
08:21It results in a three-point try by DiVincenzo that's no good.
08:25And it's not just Julius who's struggling with his shooting.
08:28Dante, who is prolific as a catch-and-shoot guy, he too has scuffled.
08:34Yep.
08:34Nas Reed as well.
08:36McDaniels miserable from three of late.
08:38Great up-and-under move by Holmgren.
08:40Woo-hoo-hoo!
08:41How about that dynamic footwork getting the defender in a little spin cycle?
08:47Seven points for Holmgren.
08:48And now a turnover by Minnesota.
08:51Two-on-one for Oklahoma City.
08:52Dork from Vilge's Alexander.
08:55And a foul called on the shot attempt by Dork.
08:59That's the third team foul on Minnesota.
09:02Dork will shoot two.
09:03We talked about Chad as perhaps an all-NBA candidate.
09:06He'd certainly be on one of my three teams.
09:08Just watch the footwork.
09:10A little uptake with the basketball,
09:12but it's equally impressive with the footwork.
09:15Footwork.
09:16Plant the right foot.
09:17But use the uptake.
09:18Get Julius reacting.
09:19And then it becomes an easy shot.
09:22Foul called on McDaniels, his first.
09:24And it's interesting, too.
09:26Hardenstein and Holmgren.
09:27You look at last year and this year, they barely play together still.
09:31Yet it's seamless when they're on the court with one another.
09:34Their defensive rebounding percentage when both guys play,
09:37which is triggering the break.
09:39If they're not turning you over,
09:41if they're limiting you to one contested shot
09:43and dominating the backboard,
09:44you can see the pace of what they can do to a team
09:48and the pressure they can apply.
09:52Dork, three for three at the line so far.
09:5474% free throw shooter.
09:56Missed the second one.
09:58Gobert with the rebound.
10:0012-3, four minutes in.
10:01Thunder leading by nine.
10:04Defense!
10:06Defense!
10:08Defense!
10:09Defense!
10:10Minnesota has lost three of its last four.
10:12Defense!
10:16And one of the most inconsistent teams this year.
10:19Turnaround jump shot on the baseline.
10:21Not close for Edwards.
10:24He is 0 for 2 from the floor.
10:28Yogis Alexander, nifty dribbling.
10:30Keeps it low.
10:31Off the bounce.
10:32Fires.
10:32No good.
10:37D'Vincenzo attacking, skips through the lane.
10:41McDaniels driving, pulls off, and banks it in.
10:45He's got a ton of offensive game.
10:47It has grown exponentially over the course of his career.
10:51Excellent use of the window.
10:52That's the perfect angle.
10:55Career high in scoring and shooting as well.
10:57All the shooting numbers for McDaniels.
11:01Holmgren drawing the smaller D.
11:03D.Vincenzo driving on him.
11:05Got inside of him.
11:06Gobert comes over to help, though.
11:08The kick out to Mitchell with a shot clock down to four.
11:11Mitchell-Hoyce is fouled and will go to the line.
11:14Another Minnesota foul.
11:16That is four.
11:17Well, they have just five points.
11:22The remaining schedule for Oklahoma City.
11:24Mark Dagnall told us before the game,
11:26we're not playing quite like we were at the beginning of the year,
11:28and we were 24-1, but definitely in a group.
11:30Seven straight wins, 10 of 11.
11:32The one loss at Detroit, there's Sam Presti, the outstanding GM.
11:37And Oklahoma City, look at this, 288 consecutive days
11:40with at least a share of the best record in the West.
11:43The NBA record is 313 set by the Bulls,
11:47so actually the Thunder will break that this year if this continues.
11:50And no diminishment in terms of hunger.
11:53They've come out of the All-Star break
11:54with what Mark Dagnall termed great focus and resolve.
11:59And every time Isaiah or another player returns from injury,
12:03we get a burst, and perhaps most notably in our pregame meeting,
12:07he said Jalen Williams is close.
12:11And so it sounds like he's going to get some run with the group
12:15before the playoffs.
12:17That is massive.
12:18And, folks, they have 36 wins in a brutal Western Conference.
12:22By far the most wins.
12:25And I know everybody's talking about the 4-1 record that San Antonio has.
12:29Legit great wins.
12:31I would just say two of the five games
12:34was a back-to-back situation for Oklahoma City.
12:37They were at a rest disadvantage.
12:40And Christmas Day, they could not put the ball in the ocean.
12:42So that is a match-up we hope to see.
12:45DiVincenzo drains a three.
12:48So three baskets for Minnesota.
12:50Two have been threes.
12:51And despite the poor shooting overall for the Wolves to start,
12:54they're only down six.
12:56Dort rainbows it.
12:57Way off the mark.
12:58And tracked down by DiVincenzo.
13:03Edwards 0 for 3 from the floor.
13:05He's averaging close to 30 points per game.
13:07Third in the NBA.
13:08Gildas Alexander defending him.
13:10He is second in the league.
13:11Edwards shoots it left-handed and draws the foul.
13:14Luka Doncic is the NBA's leading scorer.
13:16And hit the game winner last night to beat Denver in the closing seconds of overtime.
13:22That's a massive win for the Lakers.
13:27L.A. has won five in a row.
13:29And they're currently in the third spot in the West
13:31with two games coming up against Houston.
13:34Foul on Gildas Alexander.
13:36They were the first on the Thunder.
13:38And a missed free throw by Edwards who shoots 80%.
13:41If we look at the upcoming national TV schedule on NBA TV today,
13:44Dallas at Cleveland.
13:45Tonight, NBC Peacock, the struggling Warriors,
13:49is trying to have enough bodies to face the Knicks at 8 Eastern in New York.
13:53Peacock Monday.
13:54Orlando, Atlanta.
13:55Lakers-Houston.
13:56We mentioned that game Spurs-Clippers.
13:58For more, go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app.
14:01That Orlando-Atlanta game tomorrow night, three weeks ago,
14:04didn't look like it does now.
14:06Both teams streaking into that game.
14:08Yeah, we mentioned Orlando's seven-game win streak.
14:10The Hawks have won nine in a row.
14:13So Edwards 0 for 2 from the line, 0 for 3 from the floor.
14:19Gildas Alexander spinning, pulling up, short.
14:23He is 1-4-3 to start the game.
14:27Check that one of four for SGA.
14:29He shoots 55% from the floor, a career best.
14:33Dave Vincenzo missed a three that time.
14:39Another one-and-done situation for the Wolves.
14:43Gildas Alexander on the back down.
14:46Now on the fallaway, he rattles it down for a second basket.
14:50It's one-on-one isolation basketball.
14:52And against even a good individual defender,
14:55you can see he's going to get separation eventually.
14:58Io DeSumo, who is in the top ten of the NBA this season
15:02in three-point shooting, playing in his 14th game
15:04with the Wolves coming over from Chicago.
15:11Gives them, as we just saw, a three-point threat.
15:13Also quickens their pace.
15:16He's one of the top transition players in the league.
15:19Shot clock down to five.
15:21Holmgren puts it up for three.
15:23And rebound, Dave Vincenzo.
15:27Under one of four from behind the yard.
15:30Reid, challenge, lost the ball, stripped by Wallace,
15:33who leads the league in steals.
15:36Caruso up the floor, attacking Dave Vincenzo,
15:38and gets the finger roll to fall.
15:42They are judicious with Caruso's minutes,
15:46but he manages to be productive both ends.
15:49Another great play.
15:50Wallace with the knockaway.
15:51He'll attack Edwards and blow the layup.
15:57DeSumo to Reid, corner three is up, no good.
16:05On the other end, Wallace streaking to the basket.
16:08This time, the layup successful,
16:10and the lead up to nine for Oklahoma City.
16:12Minnesota just four for 14, so below 30%.
16:15What does that allow?
16:16It allows Oklahoma City to get tempo.
16:19You're playing off misses,
16:20which means you're either strip-stealing,
16:22but you're getting into transition.
16:27Edwards still looking for his first points.
16:30And throws it away.
16:32Thought Dave Vincenzo was in a different spot.
16:35Oklahoma City, they're getting productivity and help
16:38from a lot of different guys.
16:39We expect it.
16:40I mean, this guy will two-point you to death,
16:42Shea Gildas-Alexander.
16:43But Caruso, a little one-on-one matchup.
16:46So, all right, no big.
16:47Rudy Gobert is not at the rim.
16:49It's one-on-one, I'm going to attack.
16:50Kaysen Wallis pushing the pace,
16:53just slowly navigating.
16:54Good use of the left-hand dribble.
16:56And they have 12 paint points already, Oklahoma City.
17:01And they haven't turned the ball over
17:03while Minnesota has coughed it up five times.
17:05Gildas-Alexander thought he was fouled
17:07as he put up the air ball.
17:09Kyle Anderson checking in for Minnesota
17:12as Edwards drives.
17:13Banks it home and a foul.
17:15So, a three-point chance here for Edwards.
17:17And hanging tight, right,
17:19despite the fact that you've really struggled,
17:21you can get within six with a made free throw.
17:23Anthony Edwards is absolutely electric
17:26as a downhill driver.
17:27The elevation, the hang time,
17:30the adjustment,
17:31and the great concentration
17:33to give himself a chance for three here.
17:36They got Wiggins with the foul
17:38as Edwards is on the board finally
17:40at the 3.30 mark.
17:49Wallace keeps the dribble,
17:50drives and kicks.
17:51Wiggins spot-up three,
17:52rattles out, rebound Randle.
17:55Under one of five from three-point range
17:57to start the game.
17:58Rebound!
18:00Edwards watched by Gildas-Alexander.
18:03Desumu drives, pulls up, and connects.
18:05You made the point
18:06that he's just helped them immensely.
18:08You know who they missed to start the year?
18:10It was Nikhil Alexander-Walker.
18:12Desumu replicates a little bit
18:14of what he gave them.
18:16Desumu gets the deflection.
18:18Alexander-Walker is the most improved player candidate
18:21with what he's doing in Atlanta.
18:22Had a great year for that streaking Hawks team.
18:26Caruso swishes through,
18:27a straight-on triple.
18:32Career low, 30%,
18:34three-point shooting this year
18:35for Alex Caruso.
18:38I'm sure the stats matter with him, though.
18:40You get in the playoffs,
18:41he's one of your best players,
18:42as Edwards loses it,
18:44trying to drive.
18:45Turnover number six
18:47for Minnesota.
18:50Alex Caruso, again,
18:51very judicious,
18:53managing the season,
18:54but boy, when they need him,
18:55does he deliver.
19:02Time for today's DraftKings sportsbook player pulse.
19:06For the long-term health of his team,
19:08Julius Randle better get north of 12 points today.
19:11No question about it.
19:11Same for Jack.
19:12He'll go over that 17.
19:14DraftKings,
19:15the number one sportsbook for live betting.
19:17Use promo code SPLASH
19:18when you sign up.
19:19I think we need to track
19:21what my record is in those.
19:22I believe you're at 100% this year.
19:26There's so many reasons
19:27I love you as a partner.
19:30Of course,
19:30I have no evidence to back that up.
19:32I'm just taking a wild guess.
19:34Jalen Williams
19:35spins out the three,
19:36rebound Anderson.
19:39Saw Holmgren on the bench.
19:41He had seven quick points
19:42for the Thunder,
19:43which has a seven-point lead,
19:44two minutes to go
19:45in the opening quarter.
19:46Edwards defended
19:47by Case and Wallace.
19:49He creates some airspace
19:50and knocks it down from 15.
19:52I mean, again,
19:53it's his elevation
19:54on the jump shooting
19:55that makes it very hard to contest.
19:57And there was a crowd in the paint.
19:59He had to shoot that jumper.
20:01He's got five.
20:02Yodas Alexander going to work.
20:04Long two.
20:04No good.
20:06As Julius Randle
20:07got a contested hand in his face.
20:11Edwards feeling it a little bit.
20:15Now Randle on the back down
20:17with Yodas Alexander defending.
20:19The turnaround hits the front rim.
20:21No.
20:21And rebounded by Williams.
20:26Yeah, no second chance opportunities
20:28really for Minnesota.
20:32Anderson takes it away.
20:35First turnover by the Thunder.
20:36On the other end,
20:37the floater from DeSumo.
20:38And there's the speed
20:39that he injects into this.
20:40And obviously,
20:41you don't want to grind
20:42against the best defense
20:44in the league
20:44in half court for points.
20:45So any easy opportunity
20:47created is a big plus.
20:50Yodas Alexander driving.
20:52Missed it.
20:53And here come
20:54the Wolves again in transition.
20:57What a move
20:57with the left hand by Edwards.
20:59Can't hit the pull up.
21:00The tip won't go.
21:01Bat it around again.
21:02Randle controls underneath.
21:04Tries to power it up.
21:05And he's fouled.
21:06He'll go to the line for a pair.
21:08Love what Kyle Anderson did.
21:09You just touched on it.
21:11The prior possession.
21:12They hadn't been getting
21:13any second chance opportunities.
21:15So Kyle just hanging in,
21:18keeping it alive.
21:19Like you have to work.
21:20The two best bigs
21:22for this team
21:22are off the floor.
21:23Though Jalen Williams
21:24has had one heck of a season.
21:26You are now able
21:27to compete on the glass.
21:28These are critical,
21:30critical extra possessions.
21:32Second foul on Wiggins.
21:33Fourth team foul.
21:34Chris Finch says
21:35Kyle Anderson is a connector.
21:37We have a lot of finishers.
21:38He is a facilitator.
21:39He was with the Wolves
21:40a couple years ago.
21:42Big part of their
21:43Western Conference Finals team
21:44that played Dallas in 2024.
21:46He was elsewhere this year
21:48but brought back
21:49a couple of weeks ago.
21:50I would say he's a point forward
21:52with the emphasis
21:53for Minnesota on the point.
21:55You said it.
21:56Connector.
21:57He's a guy who knows
21:58where the ball should go
21:59on the floor.
22:00Can he just get up to speed
22:02and in rhythm with a team
22:03he's now joining again?
22:07Minnesota was down 12-3
22:10about three, four minutes in
22:11and now they're back
22:12within one.
22:13Inside Caruso missed it
22:14and Anderson clears.
22:17Minnesota can take the lead here
22:18about a six second difference
22:20in the game in shot clocks.
22:21Tough pass to handle
22:22from Anderson
22:23and it's another turnover
22:24by Minnesota.
22:25The seventh for the Wolves.
22:27They have eight baskets.
22:28It's remarkable.
22:29This is a one point game
22:30given all those turnovers.
22:32And just one for Oklahoma City
22:34but the Thunder's shooting
22:35only 31% from the floor.
22:38Gildas Alexander
22:39just two for eight
22:40drives to his left
22:41and Edwards blocks it
22:43with three seconds to go.
22:44SGA thought he was fouled.
22:46The three-quarter court shot
22:47is no good.
22:49The fans don't like
22:50the non-call either.
22:53Mark Degno has given him
22:55the business, the official.
22:57Is there contact
22:58on this jump shot?
23:00Oh, that looks like a foul.
23:06Access presented by Samsung Galaxy.
23:07We're on the sidelines
23:08with Ayo Desumu.
23:10Ayo, it's so important
23:11winning the possession battle
23:12against these guys.
23:13How do you shore up
23:14some of the turnovers
23:14and rebounding moving forward?
23:16We got to clean it up.
23:17I think we got to just
23:17bring more of a pace.
23:19The possession,
23:19we were able to get out
23:21up and down the floor
23:21and get good shots.
23:23We were able to score.
23:24So we got to take that
23:25ball.
23:25They're handsy team,
23:26we got to correct that.
23:27What do you think of
23:27your offensive execution
23:29to start?
23:29Seemed like you guys
23:30started settling in.
23:31Yeah, we started settling
23:32in around the seven-minute mark.
23:33We got to just keep
23:34getting shots
23:34and not turn the ball over.
23:36Appreciate it, Ayo.
23:37Thank you.
23:37Dave?
23:38Offensive foul was called
23:39on Nas Reed
23:40as Holmgren gets knocked down.
23:42Desumu, by the way,
23:42led Minnesota
23:44and scoring at seven points
23:46in that first quarter.
23:47It was five years ago today
23:49that Desumu was named
23:51the MVP of the Big Ten
23:52tournament ahead
23:53of Selection Sunday.
23:54We have another Minnesota foul.
23:56That's one of the
23:57defensive end, obviously.
23:58Tom McDaniels,
24:00that's three on him.
24:03Desumu was an All-America
24:04at Illinois
24:05and a second-round pick
24:07by the Bulls
24:08was traded to Minnesota
24:09just before the deadline
24:10this year.
24:11And with Bones Highland
24:12on the floor
24:13with Desumu,
24:14this is their speed lineup.
24:16Chris Pinch
24:16wants this unit
24:17playing fast.
24:19You saw Desumu
24:20create some easy baskets
24:21in transition already.
24:23Mitchell with Highland
24:25on his hip.
24:26Can't get the bounce.
24:27Gobert rebounds.
24:29He'll just Alexander
24:30played all 12 minutes
24:31for Oklahoma City
24:32in that first quarter
24:33on the bench
24:33to start the second.
24:35He has just four points
24:36as Highland drills
24:38a three to give Minnesota
24:39its first lead.
24:43SGA did not draw
24:44a foul,
24:45a single foul
24:46in that first quarter
24:46which is very rare
24:47for him.
24:49I think you saw
24:50Mark Degno
24:51go over to the official.
24:52I thought certainly
24:53on that last play
24:54there looked to be
24:55some contact
24:56as I say
24:57Joe gets a
24:58mid-ranger to fall.
24:59Well,
25:00give this Alexander
25:01is the NBA leader
25:03in made free throws.
25:04He's second
25:05in attempts
25:06but none
25:07won in that first quarter
25:08and was two for nine
25:09from the floor
25:09and remember
25:10he's got this
25:1020-point streak
25:11going at 127
25:13in a row
25:13an NBA record
25:14just four points
25:16so far.
25:17Holmgren
25:18running the break
25:19step through
25:20and kick out.
25:22Hardenstein
25:22here comes the floater
25:23and he knocks it down
25:25or misses it rather
25:26with Gobert challenging
25:27and here comes Minnesota.
25:30DeSumo
25:31nice move
25:32his floater is there.
25:33Do you see what I mean?
25:34That transition
25:35that pace
25:36it allows him
25:37to play
25:37one-on-one.
25:38This is an Oklahoma City
25:40team that wants
25:41to load to the paints
25:42and multiple defenders
25:43but that pace
25:44will prohibit that.
25:46Joe
25:46for three
25:49two for eight
25:50for Oklahoma City
25:51from three-point range
25:53and it's going to be
25:54Minnesota ball.
25:55So talk about
25:55this speed unit.
25:57This is a team
25:57that attacks
25:58when Highland
25:59and DeSumo
26:00are on the floor
26:01early offense
26:02into the three
26:03into a transition
26:04one-on-one floater.
26:05I love the pace
26:06they bring.
26:07Three straight games
26:08of double figures
26:09for Highland.
26:10Former second team
26:12all-rookie
26:12with Denver
26:13back in 2022.
26:16Reid
26:16leans in
26:18fires to Anderson
26:19who saves it
26:20shot clock down
26:20at two.
26:22DeSumo
26:22his pass
26:24picked off
26:24by Holmgren
26:25another turnover
26:26by Minnesota.
26:27Joe Lobs
26:28and it's broken up
26:29and a foul
26:30on Reid
26:31as Holmgren
26:32hits the deck
26:33once again.
26:34Second foul
26:35on Reid.
26:37Third team foul
26:38on Minnesota.
26:40Give Reid
26:40a ton of credit
26:41to sprint back here.
26:43I mean he has
26:44got to be
26:44on a dead sprint
26:45to try to prohibit that.
26:47You don't give up
26:48on a play.
26:50This guy
26:50is amongst
26:51the most popular
26:52with his group
26:53because he's
26:54such a positive
26:54personality
26:55but it's plays
26:56like that
26:57as well.
26:58Now the fans
26:59and the Thunder
27:00are curious
27:01why Holmgren
27:02is not at the line
27:02shooting.
27:03They thought
27:03that he was
27:04in the active
27:05shooting
27:05when this foul
27:06was committed
27:06by Reid.
27:07Oh yeah
27:08that's a shot.
27:09That's a lot pass.
27:13Here's Mitchell
27:14spinning
27:14scooping
27:15and hitting
27:16off the window.
27:17What do you notice
27:17about this guy?
27:18I mean
27:19it is catch
27:20and attack.
27:22His mindset
27:23is I'm good enough
27:24to get past you.
27:28First field goal
27:29for Mitchell
27:29more than double
27:31the scoring average
27:32from last year
27:33his rookie season.
27:35DeSumo
27:36with nine points
27:37looking for more
27:37gives it up
27:39that time.
27:39Highland
27:39with a timer
27:40at two
27:41step back
27:42three for Highland
27:43no good.
27:49Remarkably
27:49this game
27:50is tied
27:50given that
27:51Minnesota
27:51has one more
27:52basket
27:53than it does
27:53turnovers
27:5410-9
27:56but Oklahoma
27:57City struggling
27:5830%
27:59shooting
27:59from the floor
28:00and two
28:01of eight
28:01from three
28:01shot clock
28:02at five
28:02Joe
28:03drives
28:03his scoop
28:04out there
28:04with a foul
28:05away for
28:06Holmgren.
28:08Holmgren
28:08is on the left
28:09side of the floor.
28:10Rudy
28:10is out
28:11guarding
28:11on the perimeter
28:12which means
28:13offensive glass
28:14opportunities exist.
28:20DeSumo
28:20can't get
28:21at the driving lane
28:22it was cut off
28:23by Mitchell
28:23shot clock
28:24down to seven
28:24and a foul
28:25on Gobert
28:26knocking down
28:27Mitchell
28:27with the screen
28:28that is another
28:29turnover by
28:30Minnesota
28:30that is 10
28:31first foul
28:32on Gobert.
28:36I mean he leads
28:37the lead
28:38in screen
28:39assist
28:40so
28:41good about
28:42setting it
28:44but just
28:45as soon as
28:45you put your
28:46hands up
28:46that's going to be
28:48a problem
28:48but watch
28:48so Rudy's out
28:49which means
28:50that crash
28:51from the left
28:51there's no rim
28:52protector
28:53that's an easy
28:54two for Chet
28:55nine points
28:56for Holmgren
28:56to lead
28:57Oklahoma City
28:58in scoring
28:58DeSumo
28:59leads
28:59Minnesota
29:00with nine
29:00as well
29:03Holmgren
29:04down the middle
29:04of the lane
29:05and Gobert
29:06was there
29:07defensively
29:11Steven
29:12Chenzo
29:13on the drive
29:14able to gather
29:15and finish
29:16off glass
29:16he's a tough nut
29:18now
29:18he's going to
29:18play through
29:19they got a clean
29:20block
29:20he just keeps
29:21playing
29:25that same
29:26Louisiana
29:27spice flavor
29:27y'all love
29:28about our
29:28chicken
29:28and 15
29:30four of those
29:31losses came
29:31against San
29:32Antonio
29:32so you look
29:33at Houston
29:34Lakers
29:34Denver
29:35two through
29:35four seeds
29:36and then
29:37the record
29:38against Minnesota
29:38one and two
29:39the last
29:40five seasons
29:41Philly
29:42and Milwaukee
29:42in the east
29:43so not as
29:43many matchups
29:44but Minnesota
29:45that's a
29:45very good
29:46sample size
29:47and they have
29:48had great
29:49success in the
29:49regular season
29:50and one of the
29:51things Chris
29:52Finch was talking
29:52to us about
29:53is Oklahoma
29:54City's best
29:55defensive team
29:56right
29:56so Julius
29:57and Ant
29:58right now
29:58are a combined
29:59three for 11
30:0019 of the

30:03from Minnesota
30:04has been the
30:05others
30:06the guys
30:06around the
30:07two stars
30:08that's what
30:09Oklahoma City
30:09does
30:10they want to
30:10hold the
30:11volume down
30:12of your
30:12great scores
30:13and Chris
30:13Finch said
30:14those guys
30:15have got to
30:15be willing
30:15to get off
30:16the ball
30:16and let their
30:18teammates help
30:18well so far
30:19so good
30:20so despite
30:21the turnovers
30:21they've had
30:22it's 29
30:23all
30:2310 turnovers
30:25to 11
30:25baskets
30:26McDaniels
30:27has 3 fouls
30:28the Thunder
30:29with only 7
30:29points off
30:30the turnovers
30:31McCain
30:31misfires
30:32but Wallace
30:32got McCain
30:33another look
30:34at it
30:34and the 3
30:35is good
30:39second chances
30:40right
30:42productive
30:43on the
30:43offensive glass
30:44Oklahoma City's
30:45been
30:4516th game
30:46for McCain
30:47came over
30:48from Philly
30:48in a trade
30:49at the deadline
30:49Randall on
30:50the attack
30:51gets his
30:51second field
30:52goal
30:59here in the
31:00midway point
31:01of the second
31:01quarter
31:02with Oklahoma

31:03scoring game
31:04up one
31:04Wallace
31:05penetrates
31:06blocked by
31:06Highland
31:07and off
31:07to Sumu's
31:08leg
31:08out of bounds
31:09and will
31:10stay
31:10with the
31:10Thunder
31:118
31:11on the
31:11shot clock
31:15just because
31:16somebody gets
31:17a step
31:17on you
31:18you don't
31:18stop
31:18you can
31:19rearview
31:20contest
31:20I think
31:21what that
31:22looked like
31:22close to a
31:23foul
31:23it really
31:24did
31:26inbound
31:27to Joe
31:27catch and
31:28shoot
31:28another
31:28block
31:29by
31:29Highland
31:29out of bounds
31:30again
31:31to the
31:31Thunder
31:31with 6
31:32on the
31:32shot clock
31:33but you
31:33love his
31:33pursuit
31:34right
31:34I mean
31:35he's just
31:35hustling
31:36second time
31:37he looks like
31:38he's gonna
31:38get beat
31:39stay
31:40with the
31:40play
31:43he's gotta
31:44stay with
31:45Isaiah
31:45Joe
31:45here
31:46he's coming
31:46to get
31:46it off
31:46the screen
31:47again
31:47he doesn't
31:48and Joe's
31:48three is
31:49good
31:50so that
31:51time
31:51he didn't
31:52stay on
31:53the hip
31:53he took
31:54the under
31:55route
31:55and that
31:56route
31:56cost him
31:57a clean
31:57look
31:58to me
31:59the most
31:59consistent
32:00best
32:00shooter
32:00in Joe
32:01how about
32:02second chance
32:02points
32:0313-2
32:04in favor
32:04of Oklahoma
32:05City
32:05Randall
32:06fouled
32:07by
32:07Williams
32:07now he did
32:08pass at the
32:09last second
32:10will they send
32:11him to the
32:11line
32:11they're gonna
32:11say yep
32:12Mark
32:13Degnault
32:13is irate
32:14he's saying
32:15that was a
32:15pass
32:16it was a
32:17pass
32:17but the
32:18question is
32:18he was in
32:19the shooting
32:20motion
32:21when the
32:22whistle
32:22blew
32:24first foul
32:25on the
32:25Thunder
32:26first on
32:26Williams
32:29yeah
32:30yeah I
32:30agree
32:31I think
32:31it was
32:31on the
32:32upward
32:32motion
32:33when he
32:33when he
32:34did it
32:35I get
32:35they're
32:35pleading
32:35the case
32:36but look
32:36at
32:36he looks
32:37right there
32:37like
32:38he's
32:38shooting
32:38there's
32:39no
32:39question
32:43now Randall
32:44for whatever
32:45reason since
32:45the all-star
32:46break
32:46is in a slump
32:48and he's
32:49not hurt
32:51this
32:52had an issue
32:53with four
32:54straight games
32:5515 points
32:56or less
32:56longest since
32:57he was a
32:58Laker
32:59eight years
33:00ago
33:04year 12
33:05in the NBA
33:06three-time
33:06all-star
33:07two-time
33:07all-NBA
33:08at his best
33:10career playoff run
33:11last year
33:12when the Wolves
33:13went to the
33:13conference finals
33:17was a slow
33:18transition for him
33:19and DiVincenzo
33:20after the trade
33:21from New York
33:24McCain
33:254-3
33:26got it again
33:28I mean think
33:29about the acquisition
33:30of this guy
33:31you essentially
33:32bought low
33:33because he was
33:34coming off the
33:34injury and out
33:35of Philadelphia's
33:36rotation
33:36but he's a
33:37terrific player
33:38as Julius gets
33:39paint touch
33:40so now Julius
33:41has scored
33:41twice in the
33:42paint
33:42once on the
33:43left drive
33:43and in that
33:44mid-range
33:45and that's
33:45when he's
33:46most productive
33:46to me
33:47he's got
33:48ten points
33:49first player
33:49in double
33:50figures for
33:50either team
33:51Holmgren
33:52walks into
33:52a three
33:52it's off
33:53the rim
33:53no good
33:54rebound
33:54DiVincenzo
33:55quick outlet
33:56Randall
34:00Edwards on
34:00the cut
34:01back out
34:02Randall
34:03rattles down
34:04a triple
34:05yeah once you
34:06get the
34:06paint touch
34:07it's going
34:07it feels
34:08like forever
34:08since we've
34:09seen Shea
34:10Gilgis
34:10Alexander
34:11we're down
34:12to 525
34:13in this quarter
34:14and as you
34:14say that
34:15he's going
34:15to head
34:15to the
34:16scorers table
34:16and check
34:17in for the
34:17first time
34:17in the
34:18second quarter
34:18Wallace
34:19in traffic
34:20in trouble
34:22gets out
34:22of there
34:23shot clock
34:24down to
34:24five
34:25Joe
34:26open
34:27three
34:27is there
34:28Isaiah
34:29Joe
34:29splashing
34:30home
34:30another
34:31three-pointer
34:32and he's
34:33consistently
34:34above
34:3440%
34:35so if you
34:36give him
34:36vision on
34:37the rim
34:37from three
34:38look out
34:38Gobert
34:39kind of a
34:40lazy catch
34:41attempt there
34:41just fumbles
34:42the ball
34:42away
34:43how about
34:43Edwards
34:43swatting it
34:45back at
34:45Holmgren
34:45who drives
34:47to the rim
34:47and puts it
34:48in
34:50you gotta get
34:51a good shot
34:51here
34:52and again
34:52really no
34:53true point
34:54guard
34:54but this is a
34:55critical juncture
34:56closing quarters
34:58you fought through
34:59your turnovers
35:00you gotta keep
35:01scoring
35:01especially
35:02especially
35:02with Gilgis
35:03Alexander
35:03about to
35:04check back
35:04in
35:05three
35:05no good
35:06from
35:06Randall
35:07lead is
35:08six for
35:09the Thunder
35:09425 to go
35:10in the first
35:11half
35:11back cut
35:12Joe
35:12takes it
35:13all the way
35:13but he
35:14missed the
35:15finger roll
35:17here's
35:18Anthony
35:18Edwards
35:20there's five
35:21points
35:21and two
35:22of six
35:22shooting
35:22for the
35:23Wolves
35:23defended
35:24by Wallace
35:25now McCain's
35:26got him
35:27on the switch
35:27the double
35:28comes
35:28Highland
35:29three
35:30no good
35:31Holmgren
35:31gets the
35:32board
35:34six rebounds
35:35for Holmgren
35:39haven't had a
35:40whistle in a
35:40while so SGA
35:41has been at the
35:41scores table
35:42for a couple
35:42of minutes
35:44McCain's
35:44three
35:44no good
35:45that time
35:46and now
35:47a timeout
35:47by Chris
35:48Finch
35:48after the
35:49Gobert rebound
35:52so it's been
35:53a long rest
35:54for Shea
35:54Gilgis
35:55Alexander
35:55it's all right
35:56Shea
35:56you've earned
35:57a long rest
35:57it's been a
35:58long
35:58productive
35:58MVP caliber
36:00season
36:00your teammates
36:01have you back
36:02Mr. McCain
36:03off a screen
36:04a right-handed
36:05shooter
36:05coming to his
36:06left
36:06but Isaiah
36:07Joe
36:08such a sweet
36:09shooter
36:10consistently
36:11north the 40
36:12and then
36:13this half
36:13has been
36:14terrific
36:14for Shea
36:15he has
36:16shown a lot
36:16of things
36:17at
36:17downhill
36:23ESPN
36:24first
36:24from Boston
36:25the Celtics
36:25and the Warriors
36:26then it's
36:26Lakers
36:27and the Rockets
36:28who right now
36:28are tied
36:29with one another
36:30for third
36:30in the West
36:31in the lost
36:31column
36:31it starts
36:32at 630
36:33with NBA
36:33countdown
36:36a jump ball
36:37as Jalen
36:37Williams
36:38gets on the floor
36:39almost forces
36:40another turnover
36:41by Minnesota
36:41they've committed
36:4211
36:42so Gilgis
36:44Alexander's
36:44back in the game
36:45he has four points
36:47he's got 127
36:49consecutive games
36:50with 20 or more
36:51which is the NBA
36:52record
36:53it started
36:54it started
36:54November 1st
36:552024
36:56the second
36:57longest active
36:58streak
36:58by the way
36:58Kawhi Leonard
36:59with 45
37:00so that just
37:01tells you
37:02how ridiculous
37:03the streak is
37:04by Gilgis
37:04Alexander
37:06and the record
37:07which we highlighted
37:08in the open
37:09103 and 24
37:11is Oklahoma City's
37:13record during this run
37:14I think that's the
37:14most impressive
37:15aspect
37:16other than what
37:16Katie told us
37:17about his teammates
37:18continuing to thrive
37:20while he thrives
37:21season low
37:22four points and a half
37:24for SGA
37:24is five
37:25Caruso's three
37:26no good
37:26Randall secures it
37:30three to play
37:31in the first half
37:32Edwards trying
37:33to get going
37:33Randall goes
37:35at the chest
37:35of the defender
37:36kicks it out
37:37Dasumu
37:37good on a three
37:39but that's
37:40that's Julius Randall
37:41in a nutshell
37:42they need both
37:43so he gets
37:45Dasumu
37:45an open shot
37:46because he goes
37:47downhill
37:47two feet
37:48in the paint
37:48like yeah
37:49he scored
37:50something in this half
37:50but he's assisted
37:52Caruso
37:53almost a wedgie
37:54it fell off the rim
37:55at the last second
37:56Dasumu's got
37:5712 points
37:58by the way
37:58five of five
37:59now six of six
38:00and three of three
38:02from behind the arc
38:03and I keep harping on it
38:04they play without
38:04a true point guard
38:05which means Julius
38:06gets another assist
38:08in transition
38:09and again
38:09it's both pieces
38:10of that
38:11that ties the game
38:12nice feed
38:13Gildas Alexander
38:14Caruso
38:14this time
38:15makes the layup
38:17too easy
38:18you score
38:20you gotta have
38:20some grit
38:21defensively
38:21get back
38:22Shea will pick you
38:23apart
38:24Randall
38:25nice turnaround
38:25Randall
38:26having his best
38:27half in a while
38:28there he is
38:29there is the guy
38:30who's been a multi-time
38:31all-nba player
38:33starting to look
38:33like himself
38:3410 in the quarter
38:3515 in the half
38:36he's averaging
38:37just 14
38:38over his last
38:3910 games
38:41Gildas Alexander
38:42trying to get free
38:43from the defense
38:44of Edwards
38:44shot clock
38:45down to four
38:46on the switch
38:47DiVincenzo's got him
38:48Gildas Alexander
38:49puts up the three
38:50and hits the front iron
38:51poked out to Mitchell
38:55that was the first
38:56three-point attempt
38:56for SGA
38:57he's two for ten
38:58from the floor
39:00Mitchell penetrates
39:01sweeping left-hander
39:02no
39:03SGA with a rebound
39:04finds Caruso
39:05and he hangs
39:06and finishes
39:07look at Shea
39:08hang him
39:09right
39:09like he's knocked
39:10out to the free throw
39:11line
39:12but he's still
39:13making plays
39:16he's got four assists
39:17Edwards three
39:18got it
39:19Anthony Edwards
39:20with his first
39:21three ball
39:21and Minnesota
39:22back in front
39:23boy
39:24they got off

39:26start shooting
39:27the basketball
39:27they're now
39:28at 51%
39:32Edwards having
39:33a career year

39:35shooting

39:48Oklahoma City
39:54every bit
39:56of momentum
39:56it was an awful
39:58first quarter
39:59for Minnesota
40:00but all of a sudden
40:01starts
40:02or shots
40:03are starting
40:03to fall
40:04they are now
40:0553%
40:06and you have

40:15Anthony Edwards
40:15is obviously
40:16our MVP
40:17but our most
40:17important player
40:18might be
40:18Julius Randle
40:19Finch said
40:20Randle plays
40:21he has to
40:21he has to
40:23create a lot of
40:23offense for his
40:24teammates
40:25has to
40:25create pace
40:26a lot of
40:26next action
40:27basketball
40:28he also has to
40:29try and score
40:29amid all of that
40:30which he's done
40:31this afternoon
40:31so his responsibility
40:32is immense

40:39a game
40:40we're in a good
40:40place guys
40:41he's got a hot
40:42hand right now
40:43and after the
40:43turnover
40:44Hartenstein
40:44an offensive foul
40:45let's see if
40:46Edwards looks
40:47for Randle
40:47here
40:49shot clock
40:49down to ten
40:50Randle
40:51ten points

41:02for three
41:02no good
41:04but that's
41:05the sign
41:06of a great player
41:06like Shea
41:08they have tried
41:09to make life
41:10incredibly difficult
41:11he had the
41:12offensive rebound
41:13down one end
41:14he makes that
41:15block
41:15like keep
41:16your mind
41:17in it
41:18MVP goes
41:19beyond scoring
41:20the basketball
41:21and this is
41:23why this guy
41:24is I would
41:25liken him
41:25to Steph
41:27Curry
41:27in the tone
41:29set across
41:30the board
41:30two for nine
41:31guess what
41:32I can affect
41:33the game
41:34with my defense
41:35I love
41:36that he's kept
41:36his head in it
41:37despite what
41:38he is probably
41:39feeling like
41:39is a lack

43:35welcome back to NBA
43:37Sunday Showcase on ABC

43:40Minnesota leads the
43:42Thunder 53-47
43:44already having won two of the three
43:46previous meetings with OKC this year
43:48first half stats brought to you by
43:50Pizza Hut
43:50turnovers and second chance points
43:53how Oklahoma City's been able to stay in this game
43:56with 32% shooting
43:58Dave Paschorris-Burke and Katie George
44:00but Julius Randle in the midst of his worst offensive streak in years you knew it was only a matter
44:05of time
44:05he broke out in that second quarter
44:07that three game losing skid that they snapped their last game coincided with a tough stretch from Julius
44:12why he's important
44:14well he gives them downhill scoring paint productivity
44:17once he gets that going the jumper soon follows and he becomes problematic
44:21but I've been hammering this
44:23no true point guard
44:25so his facilitation ability
44:27is as critical as his scoring
44:29you know Oklahoma City wants to take paint
44:31they're going to converge
44:32look forward splashing
