00:06Welcome to the world of Gran Turismo Sport.
00:09In this volume we're going to talk about the cars appearing in Gran Turismo Sport.
00:15The cars in Gran Turismo Sport are divided into a number of different classes.
00:20The first on the list is the Group N Class, which consists of stock production cars.
00:25According to the maximum horsepower of the individual cars, the group is further divided into smaller divisions.
00:31From the driver-friendly N100 class sports cars with up to 100 horsepower,
00:36to the 1000 horsepower hypercars and monster-tuned cars in the N1000 class.
00:42There is a large variety of unique cars represented here.
00:46The Group 4 class includes your base-level race cars.
00:49This is equivalent to the real-world GT4 class that has picked up in popularity over recent years.
00:56The class includes production cars prepped with baseline race modifications,
01:00with an interior stripped for weight reduction and a roll cage added for driver protection.
01:06The seats are of course replaced with racing bucket seats.
01:10Exterior modifications are kept to a minimum, with relatively simple aerodynamic parts.
01:15The power is modest, and so are the weight reductions.
01:18This is a class that represents entry-level race cars that are easy to drive.
01:23For example, the Mustang Group 4,
01:27Vantage Group 4,
01:31NSX Group 4.
01:38The main styles of Gran Turismo Sport are the Group 3 cars, equivalent to the GT3 category in the real
01:44world.
01:48Group 3 cars still maintain the look of the production cars,
01:51but are made wider with large fenders to contain the massive racing slick tires.
02:00In terms of aero modifications, these cars receive the highest level of modifications for cars based on production models.
02:07And the complex body parts produce powerful downforce on the track.
02:18Weighing in at roughly 1,350 kilograms with 550 to 600 horsepower,
02:25all cars are restricted to rear-wheel drive drivetrains.
02:29These are truly pure-bred race cars, built to race from the ground up.
02:34As one unique feature in Gran Turismo,
02:37cars that do not have GT3 versions in the real world,
02:40appear in Gran Turismo Sport in Group 3 incarnations.
02:45Cars like the Mazda 6 Group 3,
02:48the Jaguar F-Type Group 3,
02:51and cars with futuristic forms such as the Toyota FT1 Vision Gran Turismo Group 3,
02:57and the Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo Group 3,
03:00all appear in this category.
03:06The top category of cars in Gran Turismo is the Group 1 class.
03:12These are cars which are typically called prototypes in the real world of racing.
03:16With a body that achieves low air resistance and high downforce,
03:21the cars weigh in at around 900 kilograms and produce over 1,000 horsepower.
03:27These machines exhibit an incredible level of speed both on the straights and in the corners.
03:34Not only that, as true endurance racers, they are made easy to drive
03:39to allow long hours of driving without stress.
03:43Cars that competed in the famed Le Mans 24-hour race,
03:46including the Audi R18,
03:49the Toyota TS030,
03:53and Peugeot 908,
03:55as well as concept car-based models such as the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo,
04:02and the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo belong in this Group 1 class.
04:10In Gran Turismo Sport, there are also rally cars for off-road tracks.
04:14In the World Rally Championships of the 1980s,
04:18there was a legendary class of monster machines called Group B.
04:22Their extreme speed gave rise to numerous accidents,
04:25which eventually led to the class being abolished altogether.
04:29The Group B machines of Gran Turismo Sport
04:31brings this class back to the modern day.
04:34These are all four-wheel-drive off-road monster machines exceeding 500 horsepower.
04:39The Ford Focus,
04:42Subaru WRX,
04:44Lancer Evolution,
04:46and Ford Mustang.
04:53And last but not least in any respect,
04:56there is a class of cars that do not fit into any of the above,
04:59in a class called Group X.
05:01The Group X category contains cars like the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo,
05:08Chaparral Vision Gran Turismo,
05:13Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo,
05:16and SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo.
05:19The fantastic hyper cars and super race cars that were born in the world of Gran Turismo.
