00:01Steep is taking riders to the biggest winter sports stage of them all
00:05in the new Road to the Olympics expansion launching on December 5th.
00:09For game director Arnaud Ragot and the development team
00:12that meant designing new events, creating new mountains
00:15and fine-tuning new ways to ride.
00:18What am I going to notice as a player? How's it going to feel different?
00:22As soon as you take the pad and you play a downhill, you will see the difference.
00:26You will go way faster than in a free ride ski
00:29and the turn, the turn feeling is really different.
00:33We wanted to make sure we nailed the difference between each of those sports.
00:37So with the athletes, we had the first version, we make them play,
00:41they give us feedbacks about, no, look at the track,
00:43it should look like that, it should feel like that.
00:45It's all about maintaining your speed and trying to nail the perfect trajectory on the track.
00:51So it's really, really feel different from what you used to play in Steep.
00:55There's also a lot of events that are focused on tricks and freestyle,
00:58sort of moves. How are those different to tackle inside the Olympics?
01:02What has been great for us is as soon as we decided to go with the Olympics,
01:07it means we had to add something that was missing in Steep from the beginning,
01:11is basically grind and rails for slope styles.
01:14and we spend a lot of time trying to create the perfect gameplay for going into the rails,
01:20do all the grind tricks you can see during those events,
01:23and make sure it's as fun and as accessible as the trick experience was already in Steep.
01:29And into the board side backslide!
01:31Of course the Olympics isn't just about the events,
01:33it's about the athletes who are there and the stories of how they got there.
01:37And in Road to the Olympics you guys have put in a little story mode to draw players in.
01:42Yeah, and basically what happens is we met many athletes and as we were discussing with them,
01:48we discovered so many tiny interesting stories and details and we decided we want to share that with the players.
01:54And basically the story will bring you to all the preparation you have to go to the Olympics
02:01and you will realize what it means to get there.
02:04Road to the Olympics isn't just about the Olympic events you can do in Korea,
02:08you also have created a whole new mountain and a whole new location for players to ski.
02:13Yes, so basically Road to the Olympics will include obviously all the Olympic events,
02:18but also we added a new massif with that, it's the Japan mountains,
02:24and it's a really new freeride spot where you can obviously discover so amazing places like you can expect in
02:31Japan.
02:31all the temples, etc., all the cherry blossom forests.
02:36But what we add to that is with the addition of grinding and slopestyle we also improve our snowpark experience.
02:43We add rails in our snowpark in Japan and you can even grind on some trees and on some temples
02:49in Japan.
02:50So it's a brand new freeride experience you will find here.
02:53And we really wanted to celebrate these powder fields that you can find in the picture when you look into
02:59Japan.
03:00So we even added a new type of snow, so a really deep powder,
03:05so you have a lot of snow coming out from your snowboard or ski when you are riding.
03:09And you will be in those kind of mystical ghost forests, so huge trees with a lot of snow on
03:14it.
03:15But of course the Japan mountain is open to all the disciplines of Steve.
03:18Yes, you can basically do some wingsuit also, you will find back the paraglide,
03:23and if you have the DLC, you will be able to play any of the DLC's disciplines also.
03:31Road to the Olympics arrives on December 5th.
