00:30Some ups and some downs. We've celebrated incredible victories and we've had some brutal defeats. We've also had some incredible
00:38spontaneous moments that bring this game to life. I am of course talking about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
00:47Everywhere I look, the team is focused. They're hard at work on all facets of PUBG. Pouring over community feedback,
00:55testing new builds, creating brand new content.
01:00And before I interrupt that flow, I thought I'd take a minute to poke around the studio. And maybe enjoy
01:07a cappuccino. Make off with a little swag.
01:11Including a custom Level 3 helmet. Now only available in supply crates, mind you. And you had to know the
01:18slogan for the cafeteria was going to be on point.
01:21And how about that? Perfect for a little jet lag recovery. But I didn't come all this way to PUBG
01:27Corporation in Seoul, South Korea just to poke around the studio.
01:31I wanted to know about the journey. From a little known Battle Royale experiment a year and a half ago
01:38to global phenomenon. And then, on to Xbox Game Preview.
01:43And just around the corner, 1.0 for Xbox One. It's been an incredible journey for the team and for
01:50the fans.
01:52And where better to start than the very beginning? Mark?
01:58I was nerve-wracking. Like, really. I mean, I was always hesitant about going into Early Access. Just because it
02:05leads to questions. And there's been some games that haven't really done well.
02:08So, when we had our beta beforehand, we really wanted to lock down the quality of the build. So, at
02:14least the build we were releasing was pretty good. And that final week of the beta, I was watching some
02:17streamers play.
02:18And they were having a good time. There was no major bugs. It all seemed to be pretty stable. So,
02:22at that stage, I got a little bit excited. I was like, okay, this looks like we could have a
02:26good launch. And we did.
02:40I'm like, almost speechless, just even thinking about that moment.
02:45After its incredible success on PC, the team announced plans for PUBG on Xbox One at E3 2017.
02:54Readying the game for a platform the team had never worked on before was audacious and a massive challenge.
03:06You know, bringing a massive open world with 100-player PvP to Xbox is not something that's really been done
03:13before. So, that alone was a challenge.
03:15We didn't have a lot of games. We didn't have a lot of games. We didn't have a lot of
03:22games.
03:25When we tried to have the game that runs on PC into Xbox, it was pretty difficult having it run
03:33smoothly.
03:43In order to enable their development schedule, we applied advanced technical group resources from within Xbox to help with things
03:52like user research and usability, as well as optimizing art code and providing some controller feedback to enable the transition
04:01from mouse and keyboard, which is very complicated.
04:05You know, the upside is that we're currently north of 18 patches.
04:10The downside is that we're currently north of 18 patches, but we've seen great improvement overall.
04:15You know, everything from performance to analog controls to the addition of Miramar. It's been a very special ride.
04:21Like, you can look back every couple of weeks and see a meaningful improvement that's occurred in the game.
04:26And that's impactful when you see that in just short, you know, in a relatively short amount of time, the
04:32drastic improvement that this game has made.
04:37After launch on the game preview, PUBG on Xbox One was in the hands of two equally passionate teams, the
04:44developers and the fans.
04:49I've always wanted to work for a team that builds products by listening to their customer base. And it is
04:57what we have done from day one.
05:00I try to have every wording of the community. Literally, like, even if it's swearing words, I just send it
05:08straight away.
05:09For a bit of feedback is becoming that feeling of love or self-reisel that we're experiencing is possible.
05:18I would like to study desenharmed ourselves in a reaction as well.
05:24find out how youё can, you start to realize that you could understand that this game.
05:35I think why it's not possible.
05:39per il nostro sviluppo migliorato.
05:42È un'ottima risposta.
05:44Pag.it e sentire i rispondi sui rispondi.
06:56e ci vogliamo fare molto attraverso.
07:26del Xbox Game Preview periodo.
07:28It's going to feel like a different game
07:30if you want to compare it to December
07:32and 1.0.
07:36The dedication of the PUBG
07:38team is on display everywhere
07:40in the studio. But sometimes
07:42you need to just play.
07:45You have to remind yourself of
07:46what you're working so hard for.
07:49That's why every Friday
07:50the team takes part in what they term
07:52simply Play Day.
07:54Whether they're testing a new map,
07:56set of features, or
07:57brand new content on Xbox,
08:00PC, or mobile, you can
08:02feel the team shake off the stresses
08:04of development and
08:05settle in for some good, old-fashioned
08:08winner-winner chicken dinner
08:10competition. Whether it's the art team,
08:12console team, testers,
08:14or human resources,
08:16the battle royale begins.
08:18Soon, defeated teammates are
08:20gathering around their favorite dev,
08:22rooting them on. Screams,
08:24laughter, joy,
08:26and catastrophe.
08:30It's all there.
08:33You know, I'm thinking of taking this
08:34Play Day thing back home to Xbox.
08:40It's been a tremendous pleasure to see the team and see the passion for the game and dedication to its
08:46community on full display.
08:48For the last six months,
08:50PUBG has been my go-to respite after a long day.
08:53I've played it more than any other game.
08:57It's about the moments,
08:58indelible memories that you brag
09:00or commiserate about
09:02with your friends.
09:05Sometimes,
09:06it's the thrill of securing a hard-fought
09:08supply crate
09:12or ambushing some poor soul who thinks
09:14they've found safety from a rival squad.
09:18It could be the raw tension and dread
09:21that spring from something as mundane as footsteps crunching the gravel outside.
09:26Or a door opening in a building I was sure I cleared.
09:33Or maybe it's the hilarity of a motorcycle biting it in a burst of high-speed overconfidence.
09:40Or, more rarely in my case than I'd like to admit,
09:44it is the sheer joyous adrenaline of victory
09:47earned in the crucible of the final blue zone
09:50against a desperate enemy eager for their own taste of chicken dinner.
09:55Few things in gaming taste sweeter.
09:58The allure of PUBG is in its unpredictability.
10:05Every drop is a fresh new adventure.
10:09And so, whether falling gently with my parachute
10:12or falling gently into a quick nap
10:15with the hard-working team at PUBG,
10:18I'm confident I'm in great hands.
10:21And I can only dream of one thing.
10:43This is a real surprise.
10:45This has been a dream of pertama.
