Trump demands other countries help protect Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump said on Sunday, his administration is talking to seven countries about helping to secure the Strait of Hormuz amid the US-Israeli war on Iran, calling on them to help protect ships in the vital waterway that Tehran has mostly blocked to oil tanker traffic. Though he declined to identify the seven governments that his administration has contacted, Trump said this weekend that he expected many countries would send warships to allow shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a conduit for 20% of the world's oil. He said in a social media post he hoped China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain and others would participate.

00:00Hello everybody.
00:02We have a lot of things.
00:06We are talking to other countries about working with us
00:10for the policing of the Middle East.
00:13And I think we're getting good responses.
00:16If we do, that's great.
00:17And if we don't, that's great too.
00:18And China is an example.
00:20It's about 90% of it's up from the Middle East.
00:25And nice to have other countries police that with us.
00:30And we'll help work militarily with them.
00:33As far as I'm concerned, we've essentially defeated Iran.
00:37I really am demanding that these countries come in and protect their own territory
00:42because it is their territory.
00:44It's a place from which they get their energy.
00:49And they should come and they should help us protect it.
00:53You could make the case that maybe we shouldn't even be there at all
00:56because we don't need it.
00:57We have a lot of oil.
00:58We have been the number one producer anywhere in the world time still.
01:03We doubled.
01:03At least up now, I think it's much higher than that.
01:06But we do it.
01:08It's almost like we do it for happiness.
01:11But we also do it for some very good allies on behalf of the Middle East.
01:16We're going to plan the Kansas City tulee to help us stop copying the Middle East
01:20on the next plane.
01:27Do it.
01:44So you can either either town.
01:44You
