00:00What's up everyone, my name is Madison
00:02and welcome back to Maddie's Kitchen.
00:03I love to bake with my mom and my grandma a lot
00:06and I would like to share some of my favorite recipes
00:09with you guys, so I hope you guys enjoy
00:10and let's get started.
00:22What's up everyone, welcome back to Maddie's Kitchen
00:25and today we're gonna be making peanut butter cookies
00:28and the reason why I just decided
00:31my great-great-great-grandmother used to make these
00:36for my great-great-grandmother
00:39and then now my grandma made them
00:41and now I'm gonna make them
00:43and I just genuinely really love peanut butter cookies
00:46so let's get started.
00:50First, you're gonna take your flour
00:52and you're gonna use this thing called a sifter.
00:55Basically what you're gonna do is you're gonna take a bowl
00:57and then you're gonna put your flour inside the sifter
01:00and then you're gonna squeeze it like that
01:02until it's all fully in the bowl.
01:05And so you kind of put it in there like that
01:07and then you're gonna squeeze it and just like that.
01:10It's gonna come out like that
01:11and you wanna do it until it's all gone.
01:13Well, we've already done this off camera,
01:16so we can just move this to the side like that.
01:20And then, so we're gonna take a nice clean bowl
01:22and then we're gonna do 1 1ā4 cup of that sifted flour
01:26that you just have.
01:27So after you're done sifting that flour
01:29that you wanna measure it into these ones.
01:33Then you're gonna take some baking soda
01:36and then you're gonna do 3 1ā4 cup of it.
01:40We're gonna get that measured
01:42and then we're just gonna dump that in.
01:44Then you're going to take some baking powder
01:47and you're gonna use 1 1ā2 teaspoon of that.
01:52And then you're gonna add it.
01:56Then you're gonna take some salt
01:58and you're gonna do 1 1ā4 teaspoon of that.
02:04So we're gonna measure this.
02:07Then you're gonna add that in.
02:09And we're gonna do it fully, fully.
02:12Okay, so then once you're done with that,
02:15you're going to, you can kind of shake it around.
02:18Then you're going to sift that over again.
02:21So we're gonna take our sifter back that we had before
02:28and we're gonna sift it all into this
02:32and then into this bowl.
02:33So we'll see you guys when we're done doing that.
02:37All right, so I'm about to sift in here like this.
02:42All right, as you can see,
02:44you can tap the sides too to get all that extra out.
02:48You can kind of wiggle it around if you want to.
02:50You can look at, see how there's none left in there?
02:52It's what you want.
02:53So once you're done with that,
02:55you're going to add,
02:56I mean, set this sifted bowl of ingredients aside.
03:01And now you're gonna take a new bowl
03:02and you're going to add
03:06a half a cup of Crisco,
03:08which is basically like a fat.
03:14And you're gonna add that into a new bowl like this.
03:18Okay.
03:27And then once you're done with that,
03:29you're going to take another half a cup of peanut butter
03:32and you're going to add that in.
03:36Maybe a little bit of help from a spatula
03:38like I'm having today.
03:48All right, guys.
03:49So now that we have our Crisco and our peanut butter in one bowl,
03:51we're going to mix that all together until it's creamy.
04:04All right, guys.
04:05So as you can see, it's really creamy like that.
04:08And it has gotten a little bit thicker.
04:11So now we're going to add a half a cup of brown sugar
04:15and a half a cup of white sugar.
04:18I haven't both in this bowl.
04:19So we're going to add that in.
04:21Then we're going to mix it together
04:24until it's well combined.
04:37All right, so now once that's all mixed together,
04:41we are going to take a egg.
04:45So we're going to take a bowl and an egg.
04:48So we're going to crack that into the bowl.
04:51And the reason why you want to do it in here
04:53is because we don't know if it's a bad egg or a good egg.
04:58And if we add the egg into there and it's a bad egg,
05:03then we'll have to start all over again.
05:06So in there.
05:07And then you're going to mix the egg
05:11until it's, you know, fully combined.
05:15So we're going to do that.
05:23Then we're going to add the egg into our bowl
05:27with the peanut butter and the sugar
05:30and the crisper that we just mixed together.
05:34Get that all out.
05:38Like that.
05:40Then
05:43we're going to beat it again like this.
05:46So I'm going to beat it until it's fully combined.
05:55So turn that down.
05:57And then it should look like this when you're about done.
06:00And let's move on to the next step.
06:02All right, guys.
06:03So remember our sifted dry ingredients from earlier?
06:05Well, now's the time.
06:07We're going to add those to our peanut butter mixture.
06:10Like that.
06:12Then we're going to beat that all together
06:15and make sure you put it on slow
06:17because the dry ingredients will go everywhere.
06:20But once it starts to mix together,
06:22you can put it higher.
06:24But you do not want your dry ingredients still everywhere
06:28because it's a big mess.
06:38All right.
06:39That looks about good.
06:40And see how fluffy and combined it is.
06:44We're going to...
06:44Now we're going to stick this in the fridge
06:47for about half an hour
06:48and we'll come back to you guys when it's done.
06:50See ya.
06:51See ya.
06:52Okay, guys.
06:53So they just got done.
06:55So we're going to take them out.
06:58Like that.
07:00And we're going to stick those to the side
07:01and just spread it.
07:02Now you're going to take your pan like this, like mine.
07:06Now you're going to take some Crisco
07:07and I like to use a plastic bag.
07:10So you're going to take just a little bit at a time.
07:14That in my hand.
07:15Then we're going to rub it on the pan.
07:17And you want to get it like all over
07:20because you do not want this tiny spot.
07:23So even though if we're using a little bit,
07:25just make sure you do quite a bit.
07:28Like that.
07:31If you need more, you can get more.
07:41Okay.
07:42So once you're done with that,
07:44now you're going to take a little bit of flour,
07:46just a little bit,
07:47in a cup.
07:49Like that.
07:49Then you're going to kind of go like this over your pan.
07:55Then what you're going to do
07:56is you're going to take your pan
07:57and you kind of want to like tap it.
08:00So go to the bottom.
08:01It sticks.
08:06Go to the side.
08:08Tap it.
08:11Go next to this side.
08:13Tap it.
08:16You want to get it all over.
08:17Or you can even rotate your pan a little bit.
08:20So once you have it fully covered,
08:22like mine,
08:23you're going to dump the excess
08:25in this trash can,
08:27like this one.
08:28Now,
08:29you're going to take
08:31your little peanut butter
08:33dough.
08:34Then you're going to take
08:35just a small amount in your hands.
08:38Here, I'll show you.
08:42Once you feel like
08:43you want them to kind of be small,
08:46you want them to look like that kind of,
08:47smooth.
08:50And you want to smooth them out
08:51a little bit like that.
08:54Then you're going to place them
08:57right there.
08:58And then you're going to do
08:59the rest.
09:02We have done a lot off camera
09:04just to get it going.
09:07You want to roll it.
09:19make sure they stay around the same size.
09:24It doesn't have to be perfect,
09:26but just try to get it like that.
09:30And then,
09:31this is not all of them.
09:33We have the rest of them
09:33right over here
09:35that we have made.
09:37So I'm just going to stick
09:38these on here, too.
09:45Okay, guys.
09:45So once you have them all
09:46spread out into your sheet,
09:47now you're going to take a fork
09:49and basically,
09:49you're going to press down
09:51halfway like this,
09:52not all the way,
09:52and then you're going to
09:53slide your fork back.
09:55And that's what
09:56it should look like
09:57right there.
09:59And then you're going to do the rest.
10:00Remember, halfway,
10:01slide,
10:02halfway, slide,
10:04halfway, slide.
10:06You're going to do that
10:07to all of them.
10:13Okay.
10:14So once you're done,
10:16these should all look like this.
10:21Once you're done,
10:22they should all look like this.
10:25Like that.
10:27See how I didn't push
10:28them all down the way?
10:29This one kind of rips,
10:30so it's okay.
10:31Just push it.
10:33But yeah,
10:34so this is what
10:34they're going to look like.
10:37Then you're going to
10:38put them in your oven,
10:39which is,
10:40mine is $3.75 right now.
10:42And be careful
10:43when you're doing this.
10:45So I'm going to go
10:46make it
10:48like that.
10:51And then you're going to
10:52put them in for about
10:5310 minutes
10:54when you do that.
10:55Make sure you're
10:56really careful
10:57because it's someone's hot.
11:03And then we also have
11:04some,
11:05another whole sheet.
11:06So we're going to
11:07stick those in
11:08on the bottom.
11:12Like that.
11:14And then
11:15we will see you guys
11:16when they're all done.
11:19Okay guys,
11:20so once your cookies
11:22look about like this,
11:24and we said
11:24they are done.
11:26So now
11:27we're going to lay out
11:28some paper towel
11:28and maybe
11:29like a cooling pad.
11:32and
11:33we're going to put them
11:34right there
11:35and we'll let them
11:38pull off for a sec.
11:39They look
11:40nice and brown
11:41so that's good.
11:44So yeah,
11:44they're going to look
11:45about like this.
11:48Now
11:50once you're ready
11:51you're going to take
11:53a kind of statue
11:54like this
11:54you're going to
11:55very,
11:56very carefully
11:57scrape
11:58them on
11:59and they are
11:59going to be
12:00a little bit flimsy
12:01so be careful.
12:03All right guys,
12:04so as you can see
12:05our cookies are all done
12:06and I hope yours
12:08just turned out
12:08as good as ours
12:09and I think
12:11we're definitely
12:11going to enjoy these.
12:12There's a lot
12:13but
12:14I love them
12:15so if I'm going to
12:16eat them anyway.
12:17But yeah,
12:17so that's it for today
12:18and I hope you guys
12:20come back to Maddie's
12:21kitchen sometime
12:22and I hope to see
12:23you guys in the sun
12:23kitchen.
12:24Bye!
